I see some guy at modaco forums ported 2.1 from X10 on Acer but he optimized some stuff.
Can somebody with an account there find out what he did so, we might to the same stuff on our X10 ?

for the most of it the Dev doesn't give much away.

I have an AT&T X10a and the first thing I did was remove Moxier. The phone was immediately more responsive.
I flashed to 2.1 using the flash tool and Nordic 2.1 ROM.
A couple of questions
What was done:
Rooted
Cleaned things - What things?
Removed unused apps/libs/files - What Apps/Libs/Files?
Added needed files - Again what Files?
Fix somes rights - What rights?
Fix build.prop - Ok what is this?
Zipalign & optipng apks - What's this also?
Many things fixed - WHat things?
if we can get hold of that firmware , may be it would be good .. may be binary or someone can grab that firmware and tell us how to install ...
Guys, if you have an account on modaco forum, ask there
I have no idea and i don't have time for another forum in my life
Hi,
Ii bought my Archos device knowing it is a great developer device - anyway im not into porting linux,...
As there are many mobile OSes and i really want a "normal" linux on my 101 too, I thought about gathering all Informations about the different OSes so it's easier to choose one
Anyway this is what i know for now (will just include latest versions - unless there are different develoment stages):
Android:
Froyo (2.2 ...)
Archos Stock 2.4.82 - (changes)
UrukDroid (download, server-link, homepage, wiki, development, bugs, TV, 3G)
Urukdroid 1.1RC1 (based on FW 2.3.38) - 1.1RC2 update - 1.1RC3 kernel
develoment stopped
Cinema-Plugin enabled
UrukDroid 1.6 (based on FW 2.4.81, Android 2.2.1), Changelog
OC module included
Overclocked Kernels for UD (DO NOT USE UNLESS U KNOW WHAT U ARE DOING)
releases by Sauron are always filed at his server
releases by Sibere are always linked in his Signature
Gingerbread (2.3 ...)
openAOS Android Anoa (CM 7) - version 18.08.2011 (homepage, download, bugs)
openAOS Bull RC2
Honeycomb (3.0 ...)
we will never see - due to missing sources
ICS (4.0 ...)
ICS for Gen8 (wip, to be released)
...
other Linux:
Linux Angström
Archos SDE, version ?
Kubuntu
Kubuntu Mobile for GEN 8 Tablets, Pre-alpha Test release
Kubuntu (KDE Plasma Active) how to build
Ubuntu
Bbodhilinux (Ubuntu based with Enlightenment), version Alpha 1 (development stopped as it seems)
Ubuntu install guide
Meego
noting yet, really like too see
Debian
Debian-Archos (XFCE4 Alpha 0.3, Gnome Beta 2,...)
If u now ask - how to use them - here is the answer:
OpenAOS Multiboot
UrukDroid AlternativeOS (UD >= v1.1 needed)
or just installthe SDE and replace the rootfs.img file on the device with your deserved one (maby wont work for all OSes)
PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS FOR QUESTIONS ABOUT OSes OR FOR BUGS,... this is just for gathering information about available OSes.
Thanks
As I can't search for all those on myself I'll be happy to get some help:
love to see post like "UD 1.5B4 is out -> LINK"
and please correct me if im wrong with information provided...
Last but not least THANKS to all DEVs like Sauron, Bubu, letama, Sibere...
last changes:
- bug fixes
- Ubuntu install guide

KDE Plasma Active would be nice and smooth...
Runs on BeagleBoard with similar ARM A8.
I think it could be a nice alternative.

Cool, but I don't understand everything in Tut's.
Even could be a bit risky. Someone of the coders here should make an Image and upload it for all of us.
A Video would be nice to see the responsiveness.

Archos 35 home connect: adjust minimum speaker volume level

just try the manual update
UrukDroid 1.6RC4 (based on FW 2.4.65, Android 2.2.1) ?
i cant fine main topic about this rom. is it stable or beta release ?
UrukDroid 1.5 is install on my tablet
1. As the RC4 is in the developer thread, it can't be a mainrealese.
2. RC4 also implies that it's not release.
3. It is based on 2.4.80.
4. This is the developer part, so you can't expect anything here is released.
Hi,
Could you please change links for UrukDroid. Some people use installation files without even reading a bit of documentation and this makes a lot of questions later.
Please point download files to proper download file section of UD wiki
http://code.google.com/p/urukdroid/wiki/Download
and changelogs, to changelog page
http://code.google.com/p/urukdroid/wiki/Changelog
thx.

Sure - done
Even I fear they still wont read
Are any of these firmware versions suitable for an Archos 70 Internet Tablet HDD version? (originally a 250Gb model, upgraded to 1Tb) - model A70H according to the recovery screen.
I'm trying to repair this, as it won't boot, but the firmware on the Archos site won't install.

As the A70H is a Gen8 Device they basicly should work.

cant trasnfer the files for urokdroid 1.6 it requier 164mb and when im in recovery mode and setup usb connection the hdd space that appears on the PC is only on 125mb, so what can i do?
Hey guys,
im currently running Urukdroid which, as we all know, is based on the Archos stock rom. But since the development of stock roms isn't very fast and I fear Archos will never release any OS version behind Froyo soon - I thought about pushing and helping AOS a bit wich is based on Cyanogen Mod 7.
Still I hope Sauron and AOS-Devs some day join and make one gr8 Rom - but I'm also aware there are some limitations (as Archos has some things deeply integrated into the system)
Anyway - recently some question about openAOS came into my mind and I thought about using this thread for general questions and answers as Im propably not the only one searching for it.
Here are many questions so I hope for your help - on the other side I also will gather and write down all things I found out...
So for each question: answers and alternatives are welcome (if u name an alternative it should have the same functionality at least + be free) - also u may ask new questions which I will add here.
1. Stock functions:
[Q] can we use HDMI output on AOS?
[A] -
[Q] is deepsleep/hibernate working on AOS?
[A] I haven't found any options for this...
[Q] what about 3G Sticks?
[A] -
2. Stock Apps:
Can the Stock apps be ported over to AOS somehow? Or do they need the stock system behind?
[Q] Music App is? there any alternative with coverflow ? wasn't the latest Android Stock Music App with coverflow in landscape?
[A] -
[Q] Video App, UPnP, SMB
[A] Propably too deep integrated into the system (especialy since AC3-Plugin Support,..) - MoboPlayer is a great free alternative imho - even AC3 for free - for Upnp use BubbleUPNP and for SMB/Cifs FileExpert (TIP: set the background colors of Mobo a bit darker and it doesnt look so cheap anymore )
[Q] Archos Remote
[A] I read about it being integrated too deep into the system so sadly not - until someone corrects me
[Q] Archos Mediascanner and what is its advantage over the Android Stock one?
[A] -
[Q] Archos App Store
[A] propably u wont don't need it anymore since we got the Android Market for CM 7 (like on UD)
[Q] I like the Archos Softbutton Bar rather then Button Savior - is there any way to get it wokring?
[A] -
3. Services:
Which services (we mainly know from UD) can we use on openAOS? Or are activated already? I know we cant use a nice app for - like UrukConfig - but all those should be basic linux services....
[Q] CompCache
[A] Enabled by default as far as I remeber - dunno the values, 64mb? - correct me if im wrong
[Q] CpuGovernor
[A] it's activated as "interactive" by default
[Q] Dvb
[A] -
[Q] ipTables
[A] -
[Q] Ntfs
[A] -
[Q] Samba
[A] -
[Q] Swap
[A] -
[Q] Sshd
[A] -
[Q] Mediascanner
[A] -
[Q] OpenVPN
[A] -
[Q] Nfs4
[A] -
[Q] Vpnc
[A] -
[Q] Cifs
[A] -
[Q] what about FudgeSwap? it should be available since its Gingerbread...
[A]
4. Installation
[Q] shouldn't be an installation of openAOS faster then running an image?
[A] -
[Q] Can we install it somehow like UD? What about using UD install method for partitioning and then "copy over" system files? Would it work?
[A] -
5. Other
[Q] can we Dualboot UD and openAOS atm? As I need a stable/working rom for daily use but also like to test and help openAOS...
[A] sadly not atm
[Q] When I install Apps - where are they going to? Where is /Data Partition? Inside the image? So will the image get bigger with installing apps?
[A]
[Q] why the heck is the openAOS boot-logo-mirroreffect cut off on my 101? really important
[A] ---
6. Fixed Bugs:
[Q] is the 180° bug for the 101 (casued by archos) fixed ?
[A] yes u dont have to tweak it on your own anymore
Well what else can I say.... let's install and find out
Latest Test Release: Bull

Hi there,
my acc does not have any permission to post my question in the Remics-thread so I'll ask it here.
I've got the following problem. The rom (I'm using Dartfish - v1.3.2 - BUILD 21082012) won't update. Even with the OTA Updater app patch, the download of the latest version cancels every time (md5 error - file invalid) . I'm asking if anyone of you could upload the latest version (Build 22082012 [bluetooth fix]) because the download page is not up to date.
Thanks
