Where can I buy a new charging cable? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

After 2 months, my charging cable died. Where should I look to buy a new one?

eBay. $15-19.
3ft is not OEM, 5ft is actual Asus OEM.

Dont know where you live, but I got an extra one so I have one for home and one for office from MicroCenter.

Like $5 for an OEM Samsung charger and cable on Amazon
Edit: wrong forum sorry.

Got mine at Office Depot. $29.95

Office depot is where I got mine as well. They do not differentiate between the original tranformer and the Prime charger since they are the same thing. It's just called an eee pad charger or something like that.

got mine at microcenter. $30 my tracking cable plug that goes into the tablet almost burned everything inside. The plastic was even melted from the plug, thanx got that it did not damage anything only the cable itself.

Sync Cable

I lost my sync cable & charger. Is there good oem sync cable / usb charger out there? (Ebay, Amazon...)
Thanks.
there was a guy that reported being able to get it at Fry's (brick and mortar, not from the website).

It's like no one has ever asked this before....
AC adapters seem to be pretty rare, and there isn't a lot of stock out there. You can check the stores that carry the TF (Fry's, Best Buy, etc) and see if they happen to have any, but I wouldn't hold my breath at this point.
I signed up for a stock notification from some website and got notice that they had some in last week. I ordered that evening and they were down to only 26 in stock. Got the charger and cable on Friday.
one of my friend said the sync cable is available at Asus service center.
I will make a phone call to check and get one if it is really available.
The sync cable should cost around $6.
p.s in Taiwan now.
Actually, u dont need to buy the adapter from Asus at all.
Just get a ipad AC adapter would be fine. The out put is 2Ah currency.
Which is acceptable for Asus TF101. I personally use it already.
I believe they are sold at Office Depot.

I would do more research before buying this as the ipad charger is 5v and will charge but very slow

What he said. It's been known for quite some time that the ASUS charger has a 5V 2A circuit AND a 15v 1.2A circuit. The higher voltage circuit is carried on the extra pins provided by a USB 3.0 connector.
An iPad charger will work, but only if the unit is off or in sleep, and it will work very slowly.

there's a US guy on ebay doing the cable-only shipped to the uk for £20, and he threw in a usb F --> F 5.5/2.1 barrel adaptor with mine as a free gift. you'd just need to add a cheap 12v ac/dc adaptor to that.
but needless to say, research and double-check polarities etc carefully before plugging anything in.

It not just the cable, it the complete charger. Yes, still a little more than I'd like to pay.... But the the cheapest price so far, for an official Asus charger.
Charger/cable now available from Asus

The charge cable and AC adapter is still out of stock in Taiwan.
I went to the Asus official service center yesterday. They said it would be
available around early Sep.

search ebay for "ASUS Transformer TF101 - USB Connector Cable". it comes up as an international seller item on ebay uk.
note though that asus UK is now doing the cable + original charger for £25 with free shipping which might be a better deal unless you want to also hack together a car charging option.

If you are in the usa you can go to office depot store or website and buy the set (cable and AC) for $30 plus tax, and website shipping free over $50. The website shows status in stores close to your location. In stock means 2-3 and limited stock 1-2.
Good luck!

Where Can I cheaply buy Charger/ USB Data cable?

i've looked around and they go for around 20 bucks...
overpriced as hell... where can i buy this cable cheap? thinking of buying couple.
Since the connector is proprietary and not a lot of 3rd parties have started making them they can be hard to find. You will have better results if you look for a cable fro the original TF101 Transformer as the cables are the same.
Here is one on eBay for about $13
You should note, that if you are hoping to charge your tablet you will be much better off buying an Asus wall charger since using the cable to charge by USB will take a very long time and won't work while you are using the tablet. Similarly iPhone chargers and similar USB wall adapters will also be very slow and won't work while you are using the tablet.
You can buy additional wall chargers from Office Depot. I have purchased several and they have very fast shipping.

[Q] Charging help

Okay, I am an idiot. I left my charging cable for my prime at home and am out of town for the weekend. I have looked on amazon, but the inexpensive cables they have have no overnight options. I will be back home on Monday already. The only other one is the Asus version for $45. by the time I add overnight it is too expensive. I found a few on ebay, but they look like they are coming from Hong Kong and again, no overnight option.
I thought about buying the keyboard, but as I understand it, it uses the same charging cable but does not include one. can I use a USB cable to charge the keyboard and or prime through the keyboard's USB port?
any other options?

You can only charge the prime via the proprietary port that is on your prime and your dock.
There is nothing you can do short of look harder online for another charge -or- wait until 'monday'
Have a nice day

Prime AC adapter

Hi all,
I am about to do a long trip and I do not want to carry multiple AC adapters. I use the Targus Premium Laptop Charger for a few of my devices. I am wondering if Targus has an adapter for the Prime. I will write to them and ask.
What is the power adapter for the Prime? Does anyone use another adapter for the Prime?
http://www.targus.com/us/productdetail.aspx?sku=apm69us
Cheers,
Phil
The Prime uses a proprietary power connector that ends in a USB connector, however it needs 15v to charge properly and I don't think any 3rd parties create a power adapter that will properly charge the device. Even iPad chargers don't deliver enough current to charge the Prime at full speed and adapters made for the iPad are your best bet for finding unofficial accessories for the Prime.
In short, if you are traveling and wanna use the Prime, bring the Prime's power adapter.
Thanks. It's small enough but when you're traveling the less you carry the better.
Cheers,
Phil

If you are willing to buy a 2nd one, Office Depot has TF Prime power adapters that have folding prongs which would make it a little bit smaller.

It should be said that you can choose to use the Asus adaptor to charge other "USB" style devices. When I travel, I take the Asus adaptor because I can use it to charge several devices.

Just an FYI, i bought this one last night at Office Depot and the image on the box shows a folding prong wall adapter. However, the wall adapter inside is exactly the same that came with my Prime. The prongs do not fold down.

Interesting. I purchased 3 of them off the Office Depot website, and all 3 have the folding prongs. I have heard others state that the ones they got didn't have the folding prongs just like the one that comes with the Prime.
I wonder why Asus went to the trouble of making two versions of the same thing, and then selling them in the same packaging...
I'd love to be able to find a small power adapter to carry in my sleeve...

Sorry, but that is very unlikely to happen.
If you don't mind taking 2-3 days to charge your Prime, you could find a small 5v USB outlet adapter that would be more portable, but nothing that will charge the Prime is a usefully short period of time is likely to be much smaller than the stock wall charger.

Well, then sir, I guess I'll half to just update my sleeve!
I don't think it's too off topic but what are the best sleeve solutions for the dock, tablet, and, relevant to this thread, the wall charger?
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using XDA Premium App
I like the Swissgear Lunar 10" net book case for carrying around my Prime while docked. It is very sturdy and has a decent sized pocket that can hold the charger. There are some pics of it in the ultimate accessory guide thread.
However unless you are traveling for an extended period of time, you might not need to carry the charger with you. I get 3 or 4 days of moderate usage out of the Prime, and even on occasions where I am constantly watching movies I haven't gotten less than 6 hours of battery life out of the tablet between charges. 12 or 13 hours if the tablet is in its dock.
Unless you are gonna be away from home for a few days you may not need to bring a charger with you.

[Q] Is the charger specific to the prime?

Would I be able to buy any 30 pin, 3rd party charger for the prime, or should I look for one specifically on ebay or amazon?
The connector has proprietary wiring inside. I bought one on eBay and while it transfers data it will not charge my Prime. The whole reason I bought it was to have a charging cord in the car. Just make sure the cable is OEM.

Thanks, I'll be on the lookout for Asus chargers on ebay
