Can you please tell me once and for all.. - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

IS this phone worth buying, i have no money for any other phone other than this one.
What is the latest android version and is it rootable?
Are HD games working on this phone?
IS it overall good for games and internet (both wifi and 3g)?
Is the rebooting and the overheating issue solved?
I am talking about Neo V
EDIT: Also what is CMW?

What games for instance?
Also tnx a lot i will get mine soon on my birthday

This phone is for its price worth buying it.
It is rootable, actual rom ist 2.3.4 stock but if you unlock bootloader you can can have e.g. Cm 7.2.0 (android 2.3.7) or roms based on miui.
It will get in like 2-3 months Ics from Sony.
With customs kernel you can overclock you device up to 1.8 ghz, but with stock 1ghz i have no problems playing Hd games (HD golf is preinstalled, so it supports HD games)
Only thing which is a bit disappointing is the camera quality (it is not so good and older sony handys but still okay)
CWM is build in custom roms, with that you can flash zips (For example Cm. 7.2.0 or mods like bass enhancer, or notification bar/themes (check themes forum for neo)
I have no problems with internet and with you check roms/mods properly you can make a good battery life neo or a very snappy without lags (more battery drain)
If you have more question just ask ^^

How safe is it to use costum roms ?

+.Captain America
+.GTA 3(with some little tweaking with the settings app in xda work without lags)
+.Modern Combat 3 Fallen Nation (great game)
+.NFS HP
+.Riptide
+.Shadowgun THD
+.Quake 1
+.Skoki 2012
+.Stay Alive Pro
+.Extreme Formula v1.1.5
+.GBA emulator with Pokemon leaf green
+.CS portable (never tried, but it says it works)
>>What is the latest android version and is it rootable?
2.3.4 with 0.62 fw and yes rootable
>>Are HD games working on this phone?
yes
>>IS it overall good for games and internet (both wifi and 3g)?
yeah, but afaik no android device is super with battery when using hsdpa
>>Is the rebooting and the overheating issue solved?
Never had any of those, heating is normal when gaming

Try them and see for yourself. I'm not doing bad guy, I'm just real.
Just in case you don't want to try them all, start by MIUI if you have your bootloader unlocked. Smooth, spacious and light I remember it worked quite well for me http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1603919
But it's up to you which to choose. All have pros and cons!

If u wan for gaming, go for GB custom roms. Codename test 2 is a very good choice. No point sticking to ICS if u wan for gaming.

This is because you are not using latest version, you didn't updated sd data to ics update and you restored using titanium backup that was made when u were in gingerbread.Idk about temple run but I finished Asphalt 6 on ics from start and angry birds too. Both worked fine even in stock rom.Now playing max payne and that works good too.

[Q] Xperia Neo V Gaming Perfomance

Hello guys, this is my first post here in XDA
i'd like to have some tweaks to increase my Xperia Neo V gaming perfomance, i'm using original gingerbreak, and i'd like to know the best ROMS and kernels, my xperia neo v is freezing while playing ''easy'' games like temple run and fruit ninja, heavy games like GTA 3, Kinectanimals crashes and reboot my cellphone, or just close.
Thanks
To me Stock ROM is the best and try "Night-elf Kernel"
one thing don't use any task killer/RAM optimizer cuz its slow down your system.
Try codename 8 by emanxperia.

Agree
Stock 2.3.4 + Kernel Night Elf 9.6 full + delete some unnecessary apps from /system/app/ and you have got the fastest rom that you can have.
Dont use supercharger, nitro busters, adrenaline busters, task killers etc. It's all one big crap... that slow down phone
So, i just need to change the kernel? The original android suports it? i need to unlock the bootloader to do this? Thanks a lot for the replies
I'm using 4.0.1.A.0.283, is this possible to use the kernel you said?

It is an ICS incompatibility. You'll have to wait for your games to be updated. Or do as I did. Reinstall them. I lost all my data. But it has lesser bugs. But that didn't fix all the bugs though. So if you want to do serious gaming, go back to GB.

well saw that there someting called gingerbreak too...for rooting....:laugh:
For better Experience I just Downgrade ICS to GB. My neo is Running Stock .62 and Night-elf Kernel 9.6 lite. I tested more than 50+ games in ICS but only Few of them worked and they still had some bug or gilth.
So, my Suggestion is to stay GB and flash a good kernel for better gaming performance ^_^
Never upgrade to ICS if you really wanna play game in Neo
BTW, here is my thread which I made to let others know which games are working in ICS 4.0.4

They just stop tp working when I'm playing stucking the touch and with no response. Do you know if there's a known issue running game on this android version? if you have tips to solve this kind of problem (I'm using the official retail version) or a better ICS version (even it's customized) I'd appreciate. thanks in advance.

I am using ICS and I didn't get any issue while playing HD games. It would be case of free phone memory. Whatever apps, games that you installed move it in to SD Card. I used do that. So you will get more space while play a HD game. Try that !!!
Does games like Max Payne work better on gingerbread as well? Ive had some touch issues on games like that.

Downgrade to gb
If u want extreme gaming downgrade to gingerbread..
All games work smoothly
My opinion about roms
I'm also a hardcore gamer...
While writing this opinions, i am playing games like Dark knight(1.8Gb - size), Backstab(650Mb - size) and Shadowgun(500+Mb - size) (All freaking heavy HD games) on my Xperia mini.
All GB roms are fast, but have a very dirty UI..... So its simple i skipped GB roms (I need balance between looks and performence)
This is the freaking rom i suggest you
1. Hyperbeam Cream by Khemara
This is by far the fastest ICS rom I've ever used. I mean FASTEST not JUST FAST
Its ICS rom but tweaked to get butter smooth experience.. I really appreciate Khemara a lot:good::good:
He has kept stock experience and added some little UI Xp.
2.Next is Unlimited V5
Also Fastest:good:
I ve used it for gaming but I hate CM Base so flashed another rom.
Its also the best to play heavy HD games..
Both Roms offer lag free experience for playing heavy HD games.
Final Verdict:
I personally suggest you go for Hyperbeam Cream [stock base](Winner)
You could also Consider Unlimited v5 [CM base](Runner)
If you hate ICS roms ,
then Go for any Gb roms
But i have tried Gb roms Also but ICS roms perform equally Especially these two above mentioned roms
Again these are my personal Opinions based on Heavy HD gaming
Hey , that's another small question
Where did you get that HD games ?
apkmania ?
Because some of them like Dark Knight Asphalt 7 after done copying it and start the game straights auto force closed (when checking license)
So I need to ask which website can successfully play

GB or JB For Neo V?

I've tried a lot of GB and JB ROMs presented here on XDA. Very early on I decided to skip ICS, and so I cannot comment on ICS ROMs.
All of the JB ROMs I've tried (I have tried most but not every single one available here though) have given me problems one way or the other after heavy use. The common problems I've encountered are apps freezing, phone hanging and freezing and random reboots. My greatest fear is the phone closing down on me when I need it most. A reboot will solve all problems but don't think this is ideal. I'm trying out 1 last JB ROM (16 hours till now) and so far it has not displayed the problems I mentioned.
I really like the looks and functionalities of JB but I think I will have to return to GB if I want a 100% stable phone. Would like to hear comments and advice from those who have experimented with both GB and JB on their single-core phones. Thank you.

Anyways @OP I'd not suggest any Rom in particular as you've tried many
But GB ROMS are supposed to be smoother atleast on our device and you may very well know the reason why it is so....
According to me, frankly such threads have no point as people state their opinions and support or favour a particular Rom and often some people go against this and results in an ugly quarrel! So next time, just avoid it and take these tips or advices on a casual note!

I guess I want to know what most ppl are using on their single-core cpu phones. So I welcome any and all comments. I've not had much luck with JB ROMs but it seems most developers here have moved on to ICS/JB. There aren't very many current GB ROMs available apart from Codename (as far as I know). Even Codename may end at X (current version) according to Emann. I'm still trying out one last JB ROM and if that doesn't work out I guess I'll be going back to GB.

The game ran smooth the whole time and I thought the ROM was to be a keeper. When I got home last night the battery only had 30% remaining. So I charged it while I had a bath. After a couple hours it was fully charged. So I removed the charging cable and thought I'd resume Subway Surfers. For some reason the game was very laggy. Rebooted the phone and the game was still very laggy. I always seem to have problems with JB ROMs after a few days of use. I know a lot of people have gone weeks on JB ROMs and their phone are still smooth and fast. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. Anyway I have now gone back to GB.
Hard luck mate,my 4th day on the Aosp Rom polish blood by Mike
And still things are fluid!
No lags encountered so far! Best I've used so far I can say

I also think that Mike's Polish Blood is the best JB ROM at the moment. Unfortunately, my Neo V doesn't seem to like JB of any flavor.
Am also on AOSP JB polish blood, its my 5th day & its still running super smooth, no lag at all.. Best JB ROM available for Xperia neo V..

For the last 10 days i have been using KangXperiaProject with my Neo V
With Fusion 4.3 kernel.
Whoever uses their latest build (milestone-r2) will not regret it.
Excellent battery (i once got 6hrs of screen time!)
Excellent performance (no need to overclock)
No, and i mean NO lags.
No bugs.
Plenty of free ram, I have always ~120mb free, and i have viber, swiftkey, weather widgets, nova launcher etc...
All that is lacking is HDMI and 720p recording, for which i dont care!!

I've gone back to my "big" wife - Codename. It does exactly what I want it to do. And no surprises.
But thanks to your post I've been reading up on the KangXperiaProject thread. It does look like a great ROM and I'm beginning to get the itch to try it. For the time being, however, I need some stability.
