Your bootloader may still be locked
I had the same problem and got exactly the same error.
I thought I had unlocked the bootloader, but hadn't. Once I got it unlocked, the problem was solved.
For a easy guide to unlocking the bootloader, see here.
There, they alos tell you how to see if you're phone has an unlocked bootloader or not.
I rooted the phone using Flashtool first. That is done by clicking the big padlock icon.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
I have messed up xperia X10a. I installed miui rom first but gsm was not working so i tried another rom "Vanisense 2.0" which now brings up some htc boot screen.
I am not able to go into recovery mode can any body help me on this ?
Sam
If you can't even get into xrecovery you need to start fro scratch and flash a fw again.
How long did you wait? When you flash a rom it wipes caches etc and first boot can take some time as it rebuilds them.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I waited for 5 mins... Ohh i missed my I also did factory reset form xrecovery I am now downloading flash tool what you say will this help me ?
Yes, use the instuctions in the guide and download a new firmware to flash with flashtool

As others have mentioned, use the SE desktop tool and flash via the guides. I question why you'd install a non-X10 rom on an X10 and expected it to work.
It was accidentally

Hi, I just did very, very bad thing. i wanted to try ICS alpha on my SE NEO, so I unlocked boot loader, followed all steps of manual and then, I realized it's for NEO V and for this it is not gonna work. But it was the time when I already flashed boot.img and userdata.img. So I wanted to heal it. The "best" idea what came was to erase "system" partition on my device... Sounds nice, noah? And now, problem (It's all big problem) I downloaded Xperia flasher, downloaded Stock firmware for NEO and I dont know how to get it there. In Flasher It looks like this, when I start and it stucks on it...

1 Use flashtool
Will fix all your worries
Search for the .42 firmware and install that using flashtool
Search for a guide
first, I tried to install new rom NeroDroid_ROM_v5_3 by using xrecovery rather than clockwork. the rom was installed succesfuly but after rebooting, it stucks in sonyEricsson logo.
anyway, I decided to restore the original firmware using latest Flashtool, but the problem was that the green light shutoff which means it disconnects from the flash mode, nd turns on and stucks in SE logo again.
this the video that I've recorded during the process: www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=anON2ST9_Lg&feature=youtu.be
this my record shows in Flashtool :

i'm having the same problem =/
re
Where r u specialists?, we need your help plz!!!
All what I could say is that either USB or phone seems to be faulty. USB port for me sometimes just disconnects without any reason and then reconnects.
For now... you'll have to try to connect it to other USB port (but as you have laptop, hopefully you have 2nd port, otherwise you'll have to connect USB to PC).
Other way is to send USB port to SE for repair probably. I can't suggest anything else.
From the log of flashtool i see that you tried to flash x10 rom and kernel, maybe you can find kernel/rom file for your device? And what actually mini pro you are using (x10 mini pro or mini pro)?
OMG, FOR GOD'S SAKE, you flashed X10's firmware, pray for this not to be a brick!
Now, follow my guide immediately! (In your video I saw you have X10 Mini Pro, this guide is only for X10 Mini Pro, so you are OK.)

oh man thank you so much, u saved my phone, u saved me instead!! really workd for me!!! cheers! God Blesse you Brother!
Dear developers,
I would like to ask for your help, since I, like others, have messed up my X10i.
***Note, I am a newbie. Before trying anything, the X10i had latest Sony stock GB 2.3.3***
First, phone got rooted & bootloader unlocked, via flashtool.
Then,
I installed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780398. It worked.
But, since I am in the process of testing & learning different things, decided I wanted to test that I could revert to the stock rom, which I had hoped it was backed up correctly with ClockWorkMod. Something must have gone wrong. Stuck at SE logo (sphere).
Later,
I figured I should try and flash the X10_V1_BLRelock_oemkernel.ftf ( i assumed that was the stock one, in the C:\Flashtool\firmwares folder). The ICS 4.0.4. rom I had flashed, previously, would require the kCernel-CM9-v03.ftf (however, since wi-fi would not work, I changed to: X10_CUSTOM_kernel.ftf).
Thus, after flashing to the X10_V1_BLRelock.ftf kernel, now stuck at the SE logo (letters: Sony Ericsson). Problem is that now in flashtool I get:

AND,obviously phone is not recognized anymore & cant do much. Could you provide some of your wisdom to a dummy?
Have you tried to flash Stock 2.3.3 ftf firmware with Flashtool?
For the info: BLrelock ftf is not a kernel, its to relock the bootloader again.

Big Thanks to G-Face for his tip. Worked out pretty easily. It was all my fault, being dumm.
*Thanks for the clarification. That's what happens when some1 is stupid . Obviously "BL" stands for bootloader and "relock" ...well duh (lmao). I choose the wrong file, and I'm sure this messed things up even more*

Did you read what it says at the beginning of the Flashtool download page?
It clearly says: C4 and C5 users please do not flash using Flashtool. It will brick the device. M5 users please do use FSC when flashing or it will brick your device.
You can only use Flashtool version 0.9.18.x on the C5 Ultra, to avoid a hardbrick
At the same time you mention that the LED changes from red to green, then your mobile has not yet died.
Now, just uninstall the Version of Flashtool you have completely, search for and install the 0.9.18.x, and follow the normal flashing process.
EDIT: Remember to close Xperia Companion completely, to avoid interference with the flashing process
