You guys never worked for T-Mobile so you do not know how the system works. Whenever you use a phone, the IMEI registers onto the system BUT the last digit is always incorrect. So when they gave him the IMEI, the last digit is 0 but it is supposed to be 5. The system never has the correct last digit. It's been like that for years.

soo randomly at around 11 P.M 5/31/2011 my 3g goes out and now it wont even connect to the cell network, i reflashed a different rom, and even went back to stock.. still nothing..gonna try a new radio see if that helps.. any suggestions before i send it to verizon?

Because you didn't post the link and you didn't respond, regardless of the reason why. Don't worry about it man. It's water under the bridge. "In much wisdom is much grief." In other words, this whole incident made you a little wiser on how to post by all the sh** you got for it.
Back to the topic at hand, as far as 3G issues go... I recently had a problem with my 3g going in and out for no reason when my gf's had no issues what so ever. Called VZW and confirmed "no issues" in my area (chicago btw) and proceeded on over here to find a solution and this worked for me:

I also googled "verizonwireless.com esn swap" and got a step by step on how to do it yourself without having to call a tech, and did it all on the VZW site with activating a new device and reactivating mine, and i've been golden ever since.

as you may know me from all those sprint questions(sorry about those), i will now give you a tut that saved me from error 16...
step one: go to sprint.com/chat and get on chat with a pro
step two: they ask you some info-its funny i kept saying i do not know for any info they asked and then they asked for billing name and gave them that-then they will say turn off phone and take out battery if they dont just say "should turn off phone and pull battery"
step three: they say make a test call to some number and should say your services are activated.
note: if they helped i would fill out survey as i did.
step four: enjoy your rooted and s-offed 3vo

My goal was not to make anyone mad or to proclaim I had a fix. I simply wanted an answer to my question. I am sorry to those I obviously offended by asking such a question. Though I could have asked Yay before I posted I honestly didnt think this thread was going to go where it did. I dont know what happened to cause my phone to shw 4g coverage (or lack there of according to yay) but I wanted to get someone elses impression of my account and see if had been something I done. Like I said many times now my apologies. I dont come on here to troll or misguide anyone. I am a firm believer in helping out when I can which is what my initial comment was trying to do, but I was just simply called a liar (though I can understand skeptisism) I dont want to waste anymore time defending my character. So I'm in the process of unlocking ... already flashed pudding but haven't done the oem unlock and my 4g works. Maybe the pre rooted system image is what's breaking the 4g.

LOL OK... I honestly don't know what else I did differently from you guys but I still have 4g... and when I take my daughter to the baby sitter I will take a snap shot.
I can tell you that the same thing happened on the evo when the kingdom roms kernel first came out. If you left 4g or wifi on while updating it would say error when you booted back up. Maybe this is the reason as well..

Pics or it didnt happen.....actually video would be better showing unlock status then connect to 4g in the settings screen if you can do that then less people will think your a troll plus you can get in contact with yay and possibly help solve this problem

Just saw your post and you are not unlocked till you run the command. Run oem unlock and see that your 4g dont work anymore

I agree, a video from boot up to 4g connecting and doing a speed test would be nice. I don't see it happening, but hell it would be nice to see!

I knew that I wasn't unlocked. This is my second photon. The other was unlocked. I was thinking the source of the 4g problem was flashing the modified bootloader. Could it possibly be in Rom Racer's Recovery that is breaking the wimax keys? Has to be that or the oem unlock. Any ideas?
This was already one of the original ideas and I believe it was found out not to be it. There is a lot to be learned on the unlock bootloader thread.
For those asking for a video I will not be posting one as I don't have the luxury to take time to make a video to prove my phone has 4g. I simply stated what I did while unlocking and asked if others did the same. I don't need any credibility given from anyone as I have been helping people for quite some time now on here.
The reality of it is I have 4g after unlocking my device but I don't know how. It was a simple question to see if anyone else experienced it ..... if not then we know that, that was not the reasoning behind it! But I will post screen shots when I get back to a area with 4g...

Well i dont see the point in your post other than trolling the video is so we can verify that you are indeed in unlock status and have 4g. You could have unlocked your phone flashed rom nandroided relocked and recovered from bootstrap and think you still have 4g and unlock status but that wouldnt be the case. Its just to cover all bases, if you want to help others than that would be the first step then you could get with yay and figure it out.

Agreed, the fact that you just want to"kinda" help everyone out is bothersome, in that making a video is in fact the only way it can be proven. Creditable or not, it really is the only way. Screenshots do nothing. You don't need a 1080p hd video explaining all the ends and outs. Just a quick 40 second jobber showing us unlock status and 4gees.

So I bought my phone striaght out the AT&T store and I have heard repeatedly that the AT&T version of the Galaxy S II is the SGH-777 but when I boot my phone it always says GT-I9100....is there a difference? And if so does that mean I should be using a different forum to get my ROMs? Thanks for answering my question in advance and for any help provided.

I9100 is the international version of the SGSII. If you bought it new in the U.S. it should be an i777. If it has been flashed it could have an i9100 ROM on it, but if you got it from an AT$T store I doubt that's the case.

Yep, sounds like someone messed with this phone before! I'd take it back and exchange it!
I dont believe stores can sell refurbished phones, only online can sell them. Either someone in AT&T was messing around with a phone and flashed a custom rom on it, or somehow an international version got slipped in... but the box would have to be a blue/white/orange box with AT&T on it.

Lol I think I know the issue tho...I don't exactly remember what it was like stock but I've since flashed a ROM on it from this forum, maybe that explains it. I could have sworn that it always said I9100 but truthfully I might not have noticed it til after I flashed.

Before rooting my phone for the 1st time, I read the entire FAQ and knew that if I used methods that tripped the flash counter I would get the caution mark boot screen.
Your first post makes it seem like your phone came rooted from the store, when that wasn't the case.

I read somewhere that verizon is selling our browsing history. So I decided to call them up and ask to opt out. They are actually doing this. Seriously. I cussed him out until he hung up on me. Ok, so I hung up on the first guy so I decided to call back to make sure that I was opted out. This time the lady said they dont do that and the guy is apparently going to get reprimanded. I dont know what to believe.
I don't think they could do this without a change in their privacy policy... I haven't received any notification of a change in the policy for years that I remember, however sometimes I just chuck that stuff in file 13 if I see it. If such a change came out, it would cause a huge stir in the online community, and I haven't seen any such thing.

Does Verizon use software installed on handsets to collect this information, or do they collect it externally by inspecting the traffic going across their network?
If they are installing software on our phones... well thats bad and shouldn't be allowed to happen.
If they are using equipment on their own network to inspect traffic... well, we can't do anything about that other than switch to a different service provider. It's their network afterall..
This is like CarrierIQ. That junk was everywhere and as soon as consumers found out, Verizon and a bunch of other networks got hit hard.
I don't think they would make that mistake again (I am giving them a lot of credit here).
It just makes me mad whenever they think that they can just go on our phones. Internet history is private property, and they shouldn't be snooping in it.

Verizon was actually the only carrier that didn't use CarrierIQ (that doesn't mean they don't use a similar software though)
