It prompts me to download additional content, but then gives me a "Download Failed" message with "Progress has been saved. Reconnect then relaunch app to continue download."
this official or pirated>? cause if its official im not sure why it would do this, id try reinstalling the base app again and clearing any data for it
I asked elsewhere and someone told me it had to do with the Adreno chipset and that there was a cracked app with the "Adreno fix." Gonna download that and see if that helps.
You need to load it to your Android device download the content then transfer the folder to your TP

I flashed the 2.3.4 fruitcake found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009 and now whenever I try to update an app it says download unsuccessful. I can't download any apps either. I've tried clearing the cache and data for the market. I've also reflashed the fruitcake multiple times and tried it but it still gives the same error. How do I fix this?
EDIT: Read my next post for the insufficient space error.
Why using that system ?
Flash a good ROM ..
Try to uninstall your current market and install this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1272152
If not working, you can find more solutions by using Search option on XDA or Google.

System? It's stock...
I've tried it with CM7 too, same problem
That market apk doesn't work either. However, the new error says "There is insufficient space on the device". The device has 2 gigs of free space...
I've searched google and the forums. The standard fixes don't seem to be working (clearing market data/cache).
Can anyone help me out? I've googled the insufficient space error but I can't find anything that works.
What happend if you install app from pc ?
Go ahead and install this for example : https://market.android.com/details?id=com.quoord.tapatalkxda.activity
Click install, after that connect to your google account, next it will send the installation to your device.

So online it says "This app will be downloaded to your device shortly" and then on my Atrix it says the same error: "Error downloading 'XDA-Developers'. There is insufficient space on the device."
Google solutions:
If you receive a "Download unsuccessful" message when attempting to download an app, try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
For paid applications, confirm your credit card information is up to date by signing in to your Google Checkout account.
Clear your Market cache (visit Settings > Applications > Clear cache).
Restart your phone, then try downloading the app again.
Wait 10 minutes, and try your download again.
Confirm there is connectivity to either a wireless or cellular network on your device, and contact your mobile service provider if you aren't connected.
Ensure there’s enough space on your phone or tablet for the app to install.
If none of the above steps work, try remounting your SD card.
Visit Menu > Settings > Storage > Unmount SD card; then remount the SD card from the same menu by selecting Remount SD card, or restart the device if the remount option isn’t available.

Help!!!! I have been running the built-in market app with my 2.1 tablet for a year now with no problems. About a week ago it stopped working. Market will load, but no programs will come up. I know my tablet is communicating with market because my apps are showing they need updates, but when I try to update it says "the requested item could not be found". I tried loading the new 3.4 market app I found on this forum, but it would not load, giving me a parse error. Any help would be appreciated.
How did you upgrade your Market? If you just replaced the APK, reboot recovery and whipe cache (it'll take a bit longer to boot, just wait).
sorry for the lateness of my reply, my computer has been suffering some internet problems, and have just now been able to get back to this problem. I did not upgrade my market, because when I tried to load the app, it gave me a parse error. At this point, market will load, but no apps show up in either apps or games, and when I try to upgrade an app that is already installed in my apps, it says "the requested item could not be found"
try downloading downgraded market apps
Hello!
I rooted my NT (1.4.2 8gb) about one-two weeks ago, but I'm still having problems trying to get apps from the browser. I downloaded the NT Hidden Settings apps and when I finally managed to make the "Unknown Sources" box stay checked by immediately turning off my nt right after clicking on the "Unknown Sources Hack", it didn't make any difference.
This is what happens: I download an .apk off my browser, go to Downloads, then click the download. It'll pop up with a message asking to complete the action using the App Installer or the Package Installer. If I click the App, it'll will say, "Unable to intall. This application was not able to unstall onto your device. Please try "Archive" and then "Unarchive" the application to start again." If I click Package, it'll say, "Parse error. There is a problem parsing the package."
And it will do this with every .apk except for the one at http:comptonsoft.com/test/ called "AppMenu" which does basically the same thing as NT Hidden Settings. I've tried using ES File Manager, but when I go to the App Manager, the downloaded file isn't there for me to move/backup/fiddle with.
Also, I'm not sure if his is related to the issue at hand, but when I try downloading other apps I know for sure have an android version, it tells me it's incompatible with my device.
Can somebody please let me know how to fix my problem???
Thanks in advance.
You should be using the package installer, not the app installer, based on my experience. The package installer gave me the same results you see.
In 1.4.2 you can't sideload that way but by installing/pushing apps with adb might work. That is why many 16GB NT users prefer going back to 1.4.0 where sideloading is not an issue but the thing is 8GB NT users can only have installed 1.4.2 internally otherwise you will brick your device.

Can't post link. Its a message screen at the center of the screen showing exactly this message: "Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-5:AEC-0]".
When this problem happens, the page doesn't load the images (I checked this a few times)
-When I try to view apps: for example, when I'm browsing apps with the google play app, that error appears, and when I press ok, it returns to the previous page. Trying to open any app anywhere ("people also downloaded", link from another app or webpage to google play app) causes this.
-This happens about 75% of the times. I have to try again few times, and sometimes the error doesn't appear.
-Wifi or mobile data, doesn't matter.
-Happened on my Huawei ideos x5 and still happening on my Samsung galaxy s3.
-This doesn't happen when downloading apps. It has never happened in that situation.
-Happened when I tried to do an in app purchase. Aftter putting password, it said that card not valid. With second try it worked.
-I have tried many times clearing caches/datas of google play and the framework thing, rebooting after but didn't help.
-I have cleared cache in recovery too, with no success.
-I have removed and replaced google account, didn't help. (at the same time with the 2 previous operations)
-I have installed new google play versions.
This seems to be account dependent problem. I haven't found a working solution yet.
EDIT: Plot twist: Now I ALSO get the more common problem that happens when trying to DOWNLOAD apps. "...could not be downloaded due to an error. (Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-5:AEC-0])". Then I did the data/cache clears to google play and services framework, rebooted and then tried to download. "Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-5:AEC-0]" to NOTIFICATION bar. Then google play app froze and now when i try to download, I get the "...could not be downloaded due to an error. (Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-5:AEC-0])" Message in the google play app.

2) Locate "Google Service Framework", Select the "all" tab, & select clear data
3) Locate "Google Play" & select clear data
4) reboot your device.
Still not working.

Here's the fix...
Go into Google Play. Go to settings. Go to content filtering. Uncheck all the boxes except for 'Everything.' It may ask you to create (or enter) a password. Do it. Back out of the settings. Go back into settings. Go to content filtering. Check all boxes. Cross your fingers. Apps should now download and update.
Good luck and post your results with this post quoted in your reply if it worked for you.

I'm having the same problem as OP, and registered just so I could post this. I followed your instructions, and now I can't install anything because of filter restrictions, even though I set it to let me download everything again.

Maybe I should mention that I first followed the instructions posted in here with the framework services clear data and all. Not sure if that is part of what made mine suddenly work or not.
The problems began for me when I got the 4.3 update.
This was the little tweak I made that got me updating and downloading again. Sorry if it doesn't work for you.
Just remove you're account and sign in again

I tried this, didn't work. First cleared the things in the apps, then did what you suggested.

I am having the same problem too. This started when I updated to 4.3 on my Nexus 4 phone. Except I get an error code of "7" instead of "5" when purchasing a paid app, and a "5" when I try to download or update an app. Very frustrating!
I use SKK Phoenix+ Tablet.
OS : Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean
First of all i downloaded KingRoot Super User, so i root my phone. I used it to remove these system applications that i can't disable and uninstall. The virus installed several Download Manager system app to download some viruses and ads on my phone (which got me on a rampage). I had to remove all of the fake ones until i accidentally removed the original Download Manager that my phone used to download from Google Play and other sources. I downloaded a Download Manager from the internet (same OS and version as the old one) and i tried to test it out by Downloading a random game on Google Play. After several minutes, a pop-up says "android.process.media has stopped" and then Error (942) will pop-out at my Google Play. I can't post a screenshot of it because Media Storage wont work and it wont let me take pictures, download, screenshot or even view Gallery. Does anyone know how to fix this? or maybe provide me a firmware of my tablet? It would be helpful and a big thank to you all
I'm sorry, it's my first time fixing and root this tablet.
Clear ur google play data. This might work or not. And u shouldnt have deleted those stock apps.
