I m planning to buy some accessories for my EVO 3D.
I want to view my EVO's screen on my LG LED TV (not MHL supported).

Nothing has been confirmed that we will get USB Host support after ICS. But that would be the adapter that would do if it is going to work. However, I would highly recommend getting an adapter cable, and not just an adapter. That adapter will put a LOT of stress of your usb port and will end up breaking it sooner or later. Get a cable ( say 6 inches or 1 foot) with the same ends, it keeps the stress off the port.

It's a generic one (you can use the same one that syncs your MP3 player for example) so you should be okay with those.

You don't need a special power adaptor for a gtab. Unless you are wedded to the one that came in the box for some reason?
What you need is a 2amp adaptor with a 4mm x 1.7mm positive center plug.
All the recent LG portable DVD players use this type of adaptor. There are plenty of suppliers on fleabay to choose from. Just look for the LG adaptors not gtab adaptors if you are outside the US.
This works for car power supplies too.

There is no laptop dock available yet. There's a dock with remote and a separate bluetooth keyboard.

It's been well worth it for me. I set it up at the office on a spare monitor with an old keyboard and mouse, works great.
Im sure you'll be able to get it cheaper on ebay or amazon once it hits stores.

Interesting, but we need to some some ballpark prices. If there's only a $50 difference between the models, I don't think most people will care.

Short answer, charging/HDMI spots are in different positions so it wouldnt fit.
yea i noticed the hdmi and micro ports switched.....which really pissed me off that moto would do that, but im suspecting they will put out a lapdock for the photon specifically.

IMO, Motorola is stepping on their own foot. Had they not switched port positions, the Atrix lap dock could have been a huge selling item for the Photon or any other Moto phone which supports it. Why keep investing MORE money for additional docks when this one alone could have raked in a lot of cash.
I'm going to test something that might just work.
We might be able to MacGyver the Atrix LapDock for use with our Photons. Using Micro USB and HDMI Extender cables.
It's not elegant, by any stretch...but would be an easy workaround.
I wouldn't be adverse to having my Photon attached to the LapDock via cables, instead of docked.
If anyone beats me to testing this out, please report your findings.
Apparently at&t has exclusive rights to the laptop dock (using with the atrix) for a period of time. Not sure how long.

I had the same thought and am open to trying - my boss has the Atrix and I can use his lapdock.
I've found the usb micro extension on google shopping - has anyone found the mini-HDMI extension

Nope...haven't found THAT yet. Maybe they don't make the HDMI one?
Right now it looks like a tangled mess of adapters to make this work.
There is this adapter micro f to hdmi male:

Then you need an hdmi f to f like this:

It's really frustrating that Sprint and Motorola are so far behind on the laptop dock for this phone. I really want this dock so that I can use it for work when I am on call, and not have to lug around a laptop and wait for it to boot up, connect to my hotspot etc. C'mon Sprint, C'mon Motorola! All they need to do is build two parts, a longer cable for the HDMI/USB ports, and a new baseplate for the phone to sit on, this should be nothing to kick those out, since obviously aside from the ports being swapped, it still works on this phone.
Can I connect it to USB memory stick or other USB device??

I doubt the stock kernel does, although I haven't tried it. Test it out and let us know?
If not, I'd think a kernel dev could get it configured in their kernel!

Huh.... I already have all the stuff to try it, will give it a shot tonight when i get home from work, and 2.99 although thats only 3bucks I know, but for 4.99 I got like a 10 piece usb accessory kit, included a bunch of lil stuff like that.... Just seems a bit expensive is all... It's only 3 bucks tho LOL

I think the real question is whether or not the hardware supports it. I've done a bunch of research into USB devices, and USB slave hardware is not the same as USB host hardware. Some controllers can do both, and if our phones have capable hardware, I highly doubt it's enabled in the stock kernel. It would be easy enough to figure out if someone knows what kind of USB controller is in the 3D.

I can't find any of the cables on Ebay. There's plenty of K1 usb data cables but no usb host cables. I don't know if the K1 and Thinkpad ports are equivalent so you could end up getting something that doesn't work. You'd probably be better off just getting a powered USB hub.
I've tried the micro usb with usb powered hub but no success
And the usb cables do not variate, becouse the host compatibility is or should be in the port itself . the same is with the standart usb cables which all provide host if the phone or tablet supports it.

That's what I meant. The K1 has USB host wired to its dock port. The Thinkpad may or may not.
well ordered my USB host cable on the 11th of April and its now been 2 weeks and i have received 2 emails saying it could be up to a month before it ships so i called them and said i wanted to cancel it and they assured me that it would ship by tomorrow at noon .....this has been about as much fun as pricking around with dell on my streak 7 that got stuck read only .......anyone else have any issues with getting there K1 host cable ?

Mine's supposed to ship on the 9th of May. They told me it would ship the day after I ordered it.
i even asked them if there were any issues like if the part was on back order and they said no it was in stock and was already in the shipping process .....i mean come on i buy crap off the internet nearly once a week (yeah i know a bit drastic)
but i like building electronic crap and modding stuff and ive never had to wait this long for any of it ....without a legit excuse " were sorry sir that item was on back order " i like my K1 and it does mostly what i need but its the hub for my outdoor theater and i need the stupid adapter to access the 500gig HDD to play movies on the screen ......if they cant deliver ill just buy a different tab with easier to get parts *end Rant*

Thanks for the update, I'm chatting with them now to see if I can speed up my order.
Got bounced back and forth between credit and sales. The CSR told me that my order was on hold for payment verification for some undisclosed amount of time. Credit told me that there was nothing wrong with it. CSR#2 blamed credit. I still have an estimated shipping date of 5/9 but the CSR#2 reassured me "It could ship much sooner than that now that it's not on hold".
it appears my last gripefest with Lenovo has paid off and i have received my tracking number and it looks as if my USB Host Cable will be here by friday ....i received my order confirmation at like midnight .....i guess calling up big companies and tossing around words like "Better Business Bureau, and i want to speak to customer loyalty department and being a down right **** about not receiving something you already paid for and not being able to tell me where its at or when its going to ship" worked

Perhaps I wasn't enough of a ****. The CSR was telling me the order is on hold because it's not in stock and if I wanted he could release it to the warehouse to fill when it did come in. He told me it would take 2 business days to be released to the warehouse (which really should only take a matter of minutes).
I think next time I'll spend the money and get a Asus.
Well part came in today,missed it yesterday.....and so far it cant read either my 250gig or my 500gig portable hdd's
I can however use the K1 to charge and access my htc sensation so its way easy to copy files between them
That and a wireless keyboard and mouse work fine so its easy to hook up the hdmi and use it on the tv
Correction.....i can not access the sensation but can still charge it ...i can however access my 4 gig flash drive
Do any of you know if there are any size constraints in android that would make it now recognize larger hdd?

Not a size issue. Android doesnt have native support for ntfs, you have to download an app that adds support for that file system.

is your external drive USB powered (or does it have a wall adapter)? The K1 may not produce enough juice for a USB powered drive.
