I have been trying to get service on the .368 or .42 or .62 firmware. So far I have only been able to boot the systems and play around with the apps and settings. I made a backup of each system and am sharing them here so that other r800x users can flash and mess around with the newer systems and that maybe someone smarter then me can figure out, if even possible, how we can get service on these systems as the cdma patch does not work on these. You will be able to use most of everything minus having no service what so ever.
Below are the links to each backup, Before flashing please make a backup of your current system if you dont have one already. All of these will boot with "Unknown Baseband" and "No Service"
Please read everyting before you install any of these
4.0.A.2.368 (2.3.3)
http://www.mediafire.com/?u04dbhea359gm8w
The [.368] R800x backup was made while on the .368 DoomKernel which you will find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16291835&postcount=3
You will want to use the same kernel or you wont have any hardware buttons
4.0.2.A.0.42 (2.3.4)
http://www.mediafire.com/?ic33qd61ck39up6
4.0.2.A.0.62 (2.3.4)
http://www.mediafire.com/?idihgb2hdn928hf
EDIT : Will update backups
The [.42] and [.62] R800x Backups were made using the "Testing" CDMA DoomKernel V10 which you will find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21948440&postcount=126
~You will want to use the same Kernels as I did or you may not have any hardware buttons~
Maybe someone can help with this part, the cdma patch is already known not to work on these systems, So I decompiled the SemcPhone.apk from the cdma patch zip file and compared all the smali files in smali folder to all the smali files in the [.62] decompiled smali folder I found some differences and I am posting a zip file of:
-all the smali files that were IN the cdma patch smali folder that were not in the [.62] smali folder
-a List of smali files that the [.62] smali folder HAD that the cdma patch smali folder did NOT have.
- the [.62] AndroidManifest.xml because it to had differences
The zip of differences can be found here http://www.mediafire.com/?kuv8x82vhthgp9c
Also Im posting a zip file containing the lib files from the 2.3.3 Verizon system which should be our Baseband files ( I could be wrong on which files are the baseband from our r800x), that can be found here http://www.mediafire.com/?afx0unj80ne1r2z
This is basically where I am at with getting service on newer Uk firmware for our r800x, I would gladly love anyones input and/or ideas. If Im wasting my time and someone who knows more then me already knows this wont ever work please let me know! I hope I made everything clear on what it all is and what Im trying to do, thanks for reading and any insight on service
I'm looking forward to seeing the progress that you'll make here. I hope you can find a working resolution.
Me too, I dont know much about the breakdown of ROMs but I will cross my fingers and think happy thoughts.
I have an ignorant question: what keeps you from flashing only the verizon baseband after flashing these other firmwares?

I already tried, I flashed only the baseband from the 2.3.3 verizon ftf and copied over the 2.3.3 lib files manually aswell. Still says "unknown baseband" Did I do anything wrong?

Ah, porting a rom from one model to the other is especially a ***** when they have a different baseband. I attempted it myself once, but I failed miserably...
Good luck with this btw, I hope you get somewhere with it

Any luck getting it to work?

Thank you , perhaps you can help me with this thought..
~In your [WIP][CDMA] MIUI for the R800x , on page 3, last post on the page, you said you were gonna try a port from the Evo 4g because "it is the only one with the same baseband (htc anyway)"~
Would I be wasting my time downloading / messing around with the baseband files for the Evo 4g to help me out with this project? Or does that not even make sense in my case? Im just trying to "try" everything and anything that may help

They should be all the same, but I tried the CM7 ril libs in the .62 rom and I still had service. I think it is more in terms of the phone.apk and stuff
Because the phone app seems to do more than it lets out, I think it also handles communications with the baseband and not just your dialer - but I could be wrong, I have as much knowledge as you do on this
Keiran
i don't know if it's phone.apk as much as /system/app/SemcTelephonyProvider.apk ...

The libs I posted in my zip are from a clean full ftf flash of verizon 2.3.3 firmware on my phone, they should work for all r800x since that's what they are from.
I'm gonna look into the telephonyprovider app it could be a piece of the puzzle I haven't discovered yet, I think the phone.apk is handling most of it because the cdma patch has only a semcphone.apk in it, but maybe the newer firmwares will need a patched phone apk and telephony apk.

you can use autodeo tool to do the majority of the odexes but you may need to manually baksmali things like Bluetooth and NetworkLocation as they have more bootclasspath dependencies.
Look for a thread entitled "how to manually deodex odex back" should help you no end. If you cant follow that you are in trouble lol.

What do you mean you can't deodex - what is the specific problem?
well with respect and regardless of the version of baksmali and smali used the kitchen in its present form will not deodex an ICS ROM for me either. So I take a different approach to achieving it.
I don't care if someone doesn't use the kitchen, I am retired and ICS doesn't work (ie. Class errors in smali/baksmali) half the time for me either... but, again, vague statements like "doesn't work" or "can't deodex" doesn't help a designer diagnose the problem.

I'll take a look at the deodexing parts of the kitchens scripts and see if I can deduce anything.

@OP
I don't think that's noobs question.
I asked one month ago still no one answered but there's a way, these are binaries and are compiled from source and we need to edit source before compiling.
But I want a solution to reverse engineer them.
Sent from my Micromax_A70 using Tapatalk 2
it's hard to edit already compiled binaries and i don't think there is any softwear to edit this already compiled binaries but it's too easy to edit when he was not compiled mean in source.
Yep it is but I tried opening them using hex editor and much stuff of it was visible but not complete.
I don't think its impossible to reverse engineer binaries.
I believe someone will come up like brut who made apk reverse engineering possible.

Has anyone figured this out yet? Since these are usually small executables I could start reverse engenieerig them but im sure someone already has all the source code on some online repository?
Has anyone who posted above found an easy solution?
boy do i wish the world was full of nice honest hard workers who all made things open and didnt steal..... theres a tiny bug in android 4.3 roms and my guess is its on purpose lol... if i can edit just a few lines of code i can fix so much :/

4k thanks and disabled? Yikes id probably take your side lol. Some binaries are incredibly easy, or were you referring to these ive done this before but the process depends upon their compilation methods and can get very nasty
Edit: oh darn... He cant answer huh? Woulda been another thnx

ummm whenever I need to open a .bin file I use 7zip you able to extraxt the contents from inside the .bin file
Are these files the same as .so files?
I have a file that is a bootloader.bin, however the 7z doesnt work
How to make binary files?

After it downloads do not install it instead use your file browser look in your /cache folder. You may need to have root somebody please correct me if I'm wrong. From there you can copy it onto your sd card and transfer to the computer to upload it

I was gonna pull it myself but I still haven't recieved the update notification and am apparently 'still up to date'. Unbranded sim free uk. Was doing battery training and charging just now. Hopefully it'll show up when I boot up later.
Does this mean that other people can now install it simply by going into stock recovery? I'm not familiar with moto's way of doing things, I came from HTC's.
I am wondering if their is a new radio and if the GPS is fixed...hopefully someone can report back as soon as they try it, keep us updated :good:
I'm wondering, has any UK person received the update with Build version SPU-12/13? And what does this mean exactly? It said somewhere on the moto site that SPU-11/19 were getting it. ???

Thanks in advance.

Ok, in the meantime i download and look into the homescreen you posted to compare with mine that i've extracted from a deodexed stock rom of the Razr-i

It cannot work, there are only 2 apks, the Homescreen and the widget.
5 apks needed to let it work right.

It's probably GSM Patch problem. I suggest clean install with new gsm patch here. New patch based on chinese JB libs and build.prop, old one seems on ics libs.
Patch
also you can restore my system backup which include new patch and removed verizon's apps, also rooted.
Backup
and I am running circle widget and razr i launcher on my rom without any problems

I used without any problem on an XT910 with JB.
It's not so big work, rename the 5 files in the /app folder and replace them with the new 5, do the same with the .so files in the /lib folder, reboot, enjoy.

Due to the fact that you have only two files from that thread, you have to walk this way:
Delete those Homescreen.apk and Circlewidget.apk you've installed from that thread, rename homescreen.apk and Homeconfig.apk to homescreen.backup and Homeconfig.backup then copy/paste the five files from the /apps folder i provided, set them "rw-r--r--"permission, then tap on Circlewidget.apk,Homescreen.apk and Wether.apk and install them, then copy/paste the two files from the /libs folder to /system/lib, set them "rw-r--r--" permission too, reboot, enjoy.
Well it didn't work again... home screen stopped working... Maybe it's because of that gsm patch I have installed...however, I'm gonna wait until EU JB is released and then I'll try it again. Thanks though.

Did you followed my directions and or installed the gsm patch provided by Arturo?
Yea I did follow your directions. I'm using gsm patch from dtrail and Co... As I sad I don't wanna waste my time with installing JB all over again. Will try it when EU JB is released. Thanks anyway.
