Is it possible to use an external hard drive with this? Was thinking it would be a great to dump photos, etc to more quickly than using WiFi or MTP.
If so, what do you have to do, and do you need ext3/4 file system?
Thanks!

I'd like to know this also. I have a 1T external with all my media on it that would be very useful in long road trips or overnight stays for the kids.
Haven't done so with the 201 but an NTFS drive connected to the USB port on the 101 dock worked well. No reason to think it wouldn't do the same with the prime.

Oh hell yes!
I have the dock and I have the 1T external hd. I have done what you've asked about and it makes it so much easier than running it through the laptop or a pc. Just plug it in and copy/paste.
I mean, unless I don't understand what you are asking.....you don't need to do anything. the tablet is recognized as a drive, the external is recognized as another drive. I also have and micro sd drive inserted so when I went to File Explorer I just copied and pasted. Books and movies mostly. Most of my photos live in a cloud, so does my music. Of course I'll make some of that avl' offline.
Ok, how did you get it to recognize it?
I have a 1 TB Western Digital USB drive and it powered up, but it didn't do anything. I went into storage and it it didn't see it.
Have you tried using it on a "main" computer and access it via Samba, or hooked up to your router as NAS?

Nevermind. I see that it just works. It didn't come up the first time, but reattaching worked.
It's mounted under /Removable/USBdisk1, next to the MicroSD card.
Works like a charm... Plug in the disk and you can manipulate the files and folders with just about any File Manager on your Prime. I actually like the Asus file manager quite a bit, though use ES Explorer also. I only have Windows file systems on my Usb Hard Drives, so NTFS and FAT32 will be just fine. I've never timed it, but I would guess that copying a GB takes a minute, plus or minus.

Ok, I'm curious.
I've seen this in kernels for phones where CIFS support is included, and I'm guessing you're alluding to that here as well. How do you actually use that with an Android device?

I have ReadyNAS, and can view into it at any time with my phone. I figured that there would me some version of "Connected Media" app for this device. Maybe there is something available on the market that can stream media?
I know with the stock HTC music app, I can listen to music streamed from my NAS.

Worked with an NTFS formatted 1TB Toshiba HD under both Honeycomb and ICS.

um, have you looked at MyNet ? I don't have a NAS and I may be off base, but I think that app looks at everything on the network. I think (?)
So those are Windows apps?

Can you guys stream any nbc.com full episodes? I used to be able to. What format do they use now cause my brothers new ipad can stream. I wonder how many other sites are gonna go this route. I'd hate for this to happen as this is one reason I went with the prime.

Using Overskreen browser works fine. Opera mobile doesn't seem to work. So more then likely a browser issue.

What about your stock browser or ice+? I cant get neither to work.
Funny, I figured stock browser using request desktop site settings would work but I just tried it and no go, which is unusual. Even HBOGO works that way. Also tried Firefox and same thing on nbc. Not available for device.
I tried it on the Boat browser. The stream plays with sound and audio when the show starts then 15 seconds into it the video stops but the sound continues. If I switch screen size then I get video again for another 15 seconds. It is like they are injecting something into the stream that is messing everything up.
From what my brother tells me nbc.com uses quicktime on the iPad or quicktime can interpret the video or something to that effect.
Just for grins I checked abc and cbs and they both play just fine. I have User Agent set to desktop.
works also on Dolphin HD but does not on stock browser. Says "It's not currently available for this device."

Has anyone been able to get the Sirius XM app working on their prime? With the apk from another thread on XDA, mine just sits there on the update screen. :'(
EDIT: See THIS post for another way to stream and listen in the background.

IMEI
The Sirius app needs to be able to read an IMEI number to work and because we are on a tablet and not a phone, there isn't one. I ran into the same problem with my GTablet and ran a patch on the ROM I was running to add the IMEI. Sirius then worked great, along with HBO Go. Hopefully someone much smarter than me can figure out how to patch an IMEI number into the prime. Here is the thread were I got the patch:

Interesting. I wonder if that means this app could get working by similar means those required to get Whatsapp going on here. Have you tried backing up to Titanium on phone and Restored on the Prime? I might try that this weekend.

Well, yay!
I am now streaming SiriusXM to my tablet in the background without the app. FINALLY! THIS IS SO AWESOME!
I'm using XMTuner (there are several different PC applications like this you could use) in conjunction with TVersity.
XMTuner is a dual purpose PC app that is a non-browser tuner as well as a server for linking the channel feeds to uPnP. TVersity (Pro) serves local media and streams (it treats the Sirius XM feed as an RSS feed).
I'm playing the channels on my Prime using Skipta which can be minimized to the taskbar. uPnPlay can also be used (as I've used it for years), but it seems to be slower loading the DLNA server locations.
As an incredibly awesome side effect, I am now able to stream SiriusXM to my Xbox 360. That's a pretty f***ing awesome side effect.
UPDATE: uPnPlay seems to be the better option. If you turn on the Cache Detection in the Experimental settings, your TVersity server connects instantly. No such setting in Skipta.
New Sirius app works from backup
Just downloaded the newest Sirius app on my phone. Did a Titanium backup and restored it on my Prime. Worked like a charm! The app is version 2.0 build 20060. The app is even better than the old one. You can rewind songs and whole shows.
Still no reason why there isn't a tablet optimized version...

I can install it but whenever I try to run it, it just jumps straight to the homescreen. I can run it on my Sensation 4g and TF201, but not the TF300. Anyone else have problem trying to run this game?
I am rooted and on the newest firmware, no custom rom or unlocked bootloader.
I have this same issue with both shadow gun and gta 3.

ME installed and ran just fine on mine, although I have CM9 installed. Sucks that EA doesn't make their android games compatible w/ my PS3 controller...boooo. It rocks with Shadowgun.
much of the game is touch and gesture based, it would change the whole experience pretty heavily. Although I dont think that would be a bad thing because sometimes those controls can be really, REALLY unhelpful. I wouldnt mind controller support for this or Dead Space (tegra 3 optmised for both of em? hmmm hmmm?)

Runs fine on mine. Running .29 firmware, not rooted.
Yeah, i just got it to install on mine.
Backed it up on my rooted CM9 Nook Tablet, sent the backup as seperate parts App and Data (Titanium Backup Pro ) into my google drive, DLed the one that ends in *blahblahblahuninteligablename.apk.gz* onto my (non-rooted) TF300 and extracted the apk file using the ZArchiver app. Installed the apk and I'll download the big data files later tonight (internet here sucks balls)
hope this is helpful to to other TF300 ME fans, albeit having to have bought the pro version of Titanium Backup

Seems like the folks who installed the game while they were on the older firmware (.26) are ok. If you are running the newer .29 firmware then Mass Effect is not available for the device.
I've uploaded a modified. 29 build.prop that will allow Mass Effect (and probably several other apps) to appear and download to the TF300. The only change I made was to the market fingerprint/release keys. I changed them to the .26 firmware market fingerprint. Here you go-
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7833959/Fixed Build Prop.zip
This has been tested and proven to work safely. Just extract the build.prop file from this zip and push it to your \system folder. Be certain that the permissions are set properly before rebooting.
Do not flash the zip file.

It's not so much a compatibility issue. The Market version works fine as long as you can download it. Not to mention there are several other apps missing from the market without this fix (at least until the current release keys get registered with google).

has anyone tried playing it on the original transformer (tf101)? Also does it support the use of external controllers like the xbox 360 wired controller (via USB of course). I was able to play GTA 3 on my tf101 using the wired controller and would be willing to buy this if that support was available

Interesting app. It does ask who your TV provider is and made me log in to my FiOS account.
An Olympics fan with a Prime who doesn't have an android device will appreciate your sharing of the app.
After reading how you did it, I did it for myself to my phone from the market, then used Root Explorer to find air.com.nbcuni.com.nbcsports.liveextra-1.apk in /data/apps. Then I sent it to my cloud storage so the Prime can access it. Works just like you said.

It's a shame that they don't support Tegra 3......

When I try to install the first time I get an error message saying something like "There was a problem parsing this package." Then I tried it a second time, and the install worked, but it keeps going into slow motion. Any idea why?
I'm on a stock transformer prime.
The slow motion that happens after the first few seconds of video playback can be worked around by pressing your home button. Then, open the recent programs and go back to Live Extra. The video will play back fine.
