I am stumped. Need help
I added safe strap and installed Razrx on the 2nd system. Started to get low memory messages on the primary so i used an app from market to try an make some room
Unfortunately my PRIMARY SYSTEM was Hosed including my backup. I haven't been able to locate any information for resolving this situation. I tried using fast boot files but I kept getting an error from rsd that the unzip failed.
Any ideas ?

Have you tried redownloading the fastboot files?
Also, how did your primary (nonsafe) system get hosed??
My primary started bootlooping after I used an app called Not Enough Space, which moves programs to the Sd card to free up memory. Since we cannot do a battery pull I was at a loss of what to do.
I used the power and volume down to try a reset put it didnt fix anything. I was thinking if I could load a stock ROM into the safe side and make a backup and restore the backup onto the primary side then I could fix it? Eventually I kept fooling around with the fastboot files and got it restored. I kept getting a unzip error with Rsd. Its a little misleading for the program to have a uncompress/flash button. The uncompress is actually for the ROM file that is in the Zip file.
Thanks for the help im sure I will be asking for help alot more.

Hey guys,
I did something stupid, by accident, that I know better than, and now I need help. So my phone is rooted, using the 1 click root method that came out when the phone first dropped. Everything went fine with that and it has been working great. Someone asked about an update and if it was available and so I thought I would use my software update to check and see if one was available. Mecha_VERIZON_WWE_1.13.605.7-1.12.605.6 was sitting there waiting to be installed, and I accidentally hit OK instead of reject. This cause the phone to reboot and attempt to install the update. It fails however, with CMR saying failed to verify whole-file signature, which is fine. The problem is, when I reboot and the phone starts up, I get in for about 15 seconds and then it shuts the phone down and attempts to install the update file again. It will then fail on the signature verification again, and I can then reboot, and that just starts the whole process over. What do I need to do? How can I keep my phone from attempting to install this update every time it starts up?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Ray
I take it that you did not make a backup in recovery. If so you should try to boot in recovery and install the backup.
I didn't. My guess is because I was stupid and lazy and did the one click method rather than putting in the time and energy to do it all myself and make sure that step was done. What recourse do I have at this point? Is my only option to wipe data/factory reset?
Remove your SD card, put it in an adapter, put it in your PC (or a card reader connected to your PC), and delete the PG05IMG.zip file.
Agree with the post above. But the issue doesn't have anything to do with your method of rooting.
There are a few things you should always do... Make backups and either rename the PG05IMG files or delete them.
Don't even need to remove the card most explorer apps can delete from the sdcard

Not if its in a loop that only gives him 15 seconds to access it. Unless he is crazy fast lol. Try using the card reader method...although I wonder if an update sent by Verizon is handled the same way as the ones we do are. Hopefully it will be as simple as finding the PG05IMG.zip file on your sd-card.

I have a few questions I was hoping to get some answers too. A little background I just got my Milestone X2 rooted and I got myself into trouble when freezing an app I should not have with Bloat Freezer (http://bloatfreezer.com). What happened was "Home" crashed over and over even after a battery pull and thus the phone from an interface perspective was bricked.
However I was still able to access the adb shell as root and as such in theory if I knew what the app changed I could have put it back by "hand". So first question is there an easy way to tell what Bloat Freezer changed? Some are obvious if they are APKs others seemingly are something else. In this case I froze Motorola Services I couldn't figure out what files were renamed.
My second question is if I had a tar ball of /data and /system could I have just extracted them over the top of the running directories to restore the functionality?
Thanks in advance for any insight.

As another point, I have not had much luck getting Recovery on my phone and I fear bricking it trying to get that on. So I figured at least freezing some bloat would help the phones performance. In addition a lot of the ROMs for the DROID X2 seem to have some odd issues on the Milestone X2.

I was having trouble getting recovery as well. It turns out my netbook was not unzipping files correctly. I remedied this by using my friends notebook.

Do a "safe boot": pwr up w/ both the pwr and menu keys release the pwr @ the big m but keep on the menu till the vibration . Will only load sys apps.
Edit always do zipping on yo phone. I find PCs don't zip well enough for androids.
I (dx2) can DL cwm's latest touch recovery for Olympus (atrix) and flash it (install zip from sd) in cwr and it works saves boot partition and all work great BUT IT WILL NOT RESTORE SYSTEM. Saves as tarballs. You still have to boot cwr to flash it! Manibengood did something to get his Tenfar's it to work (are you guys on the same blur? ).

So I've made the stupid mistake of uninstalling the Task manager on my Moto Razr when I wasn't even trying to uninstall it just converting it to a user app in hopes I could use it on my Xperia arc since it's a very functional app but for some reason it won't re'install obviously it wasn't meant to be F'ed with now I can't even use the battery extender cause actions 101 is tide in with both and is uninstalled now too So I know there's a way to re'install it
Please if you could help me I would be very grateful
I read something about CWM but I don't even know what that is I just hope that this task won't grow another gray hair if worst come's to worst then I hope that Re flashing the firmware will restore thing's cause a factory reset didn't.
I just want my phone back to normal is there no one that can help me ? I really wish I didn't do this to my phone

You need to get hold of the task manager apk and odex files from the stock ROM you're using, place them in the /system/app directory, and making sure the files' permissions match those of others in the same directory.
If that sounds a bit mindboggling, you're best to flash your stock ROM again using the RSD Lite utility when your phone is in Fastboot mode. This will restore all the system files and leave your userdata intact. You can find everything you need to do that in the stock ROMs thread in the development forum.

I've used this backup before, at least 5 times so I know it's good. But this last time it failed due to the above error, after trying to install Jaime's JB rom (I don't know if that is relevant). I found several ways to fix the error here and elsewhere, but no need as I had a backup from yesterday that still worked. Right now I'm just looking for someone to explain to me what the error means and why it happened to this particular backup given that I didn't rename or change anything? This way I don't repeat the error. Thanks in advance.
Essentially what you need to do is redownload the rom. But this time make sure you have a very strong internet connection. If your downloading on your phone get right next to the router. When your MD5 sums don't match it is because there is an error in the download process and some of the rom files have been corrupted. If you have a strong internet connection it helps ensure all the files are downloaded properly. Hope this helps....

I didn't get this error whilst installing a rom though, it was trying to restore a backup. But I guess the principle holds true, somehow my backup got corrupted.
I'll download the rom again (this will be try number 6) and see if getting closer to the router will helpe, thanks.
I get that error when I have too much on the internal sd card. I think the limit is 4gigs. So anything you have in /system/media like movies and music move to external sd card before you make a backup.
So my current state of the internal sd card can affect a known good backup?

Probably not. Dumb suggestion. But that's one reason that error happens, but that keeps the backup from completing. Sorry.
Are you using Rom Manager or CWM?
I make most of my backups in CWM and copy to my computer. I'm trying to think of what I did between the last time I used that backup successfully... Only thing I can think of is the 6 failed attempts to install the JB rom. Now I'm kindof worried about making attempt #7 because I only have the 1 working backup... If that gets corrupted I'll be soft-bricked with no way to install a rom.

I have noticed that if I copy a backup to my computer (64-bit, Win 7) and then copy back to my Note, I will get an MD5 mismatch message if I then try to restore from the backup. It may be due to the way that Win 7 file explorer indexes the file - or some other arcane windows thing. In any case I no longer transfer nandroid backps.
Ok I'm gonna stop obsessing over this and chalk it up to bad luck. Actually, since I rooted my first device this is the first time I've had anything go wrong, so I guess it was my turn. Thanks for all the help!

I was having a similar issue and found that apps like titanium backup may restore a system app from another rom that would make my phone act like your phone. Do you use titanium backup?

i actually do use ti.. but not yet on this phone. i found that simply placing the file in a folder and then copying works. for whatever reason.
