Mod for texting through pc - HTC EVO 3D

Good morning everyone,
To keep it simple, I am looking for an app/mod for texting through the PC.
For example, a text comes in and it shows on my PC and I can answer back through my PC.
Phone: Rooted HTC Evo 3D MIUI latest.
PC: Windows 7 Pro.
Any help will be really appreciated.
Thank you beforehand.
Best regards,
Raul.

Can we please just answer this guy and not go off like kids for once? Sorry man but I can't help here. Hopefully someone will be able to. Please make sure questions are posted in the q&a section.

wrong section...but uh u should look at desksms by koushik (dev of CWM)

AirDroid. It's free, and has a lot of other possibilities...
https://market.android.com/details?...t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5zYW5kLmFpcmRyb2lkIl0.
And, it doesn't require ROOT. Incase you were wondering.

How about just using voice.google.com

I used to use Google voice a lot for voicemail but once I figured out its integration with SMS, it got really annoying. I didnt want it saving all my text messages in its system and having to delete them every week while going through my voicemails. I even went through all the settings, but was only able to either dissable all SMS on the phone, or let it handle the Texts so I deleted the app until they fix that.

To be completely honest, I don't know. I use it every day when I get into the office. My phone goes in the dock and connects to WiFi. I run the program and open the browser, login, and I'm good to go. I can listen to my music from my phone, read/answer text messages, look at pictures, install apps. The only thing I wish it did was emulation of your phone, but it's not necessary. Give it a shot, you'll be glad you did.

What your asking is exactly what Google Voice does. I have it and it's pretty great. On sprint it's integrated so you can even make your number the GVoice number so no problems there. I would suggest that.

Desksms is an awesome little program. I remember when it first came out. Koush does great work.
Really great to see the community not flaming this guy and being mature. Makes me wanna come back and read more often now that we can all be a little more civil.

I already have it up and running but I am having trouble with the network. Keeps giving me an error every time I try to send a text. Other than that, the App seems very solid. Can't wait to find out everything it does.

Like I said, I used it as well but I hated the fact that it was all my text messages and they would not delete after deleting from my phone. But the main reason I didn't like it is that it would sync together with the voice mails so I would have to dig through all the text to find the voice mails.
Speaking of Google voice, any one know of an alternative?
I am rooted with MIUI but voice mail doesn't seem to work on it.
What do you guys suggest?

I still don't understand why people act that way. If your not a moderator, then don't say anything. Its not your job unless you want to give someone a heads up, but don't kill the guy. Its not like I go on the forum and say, today I am going to post in the wrong section on purpose to piss people off. Either way, if posting in the wrong section bothers you to the extent that you have to ***** the other guy out, you spend too much time in front of the computer. Go outside and get some fresh air. Play a sport for a change.

Yea it's called Google voice

+1 for google voice - one thing I love about GV is a program called GV notifier by Dave Amenta (google it), it runs on desktop like yahoo messenger, google talk etc...anyways, makes it so easy to text people throughout the day while working.

Q: Is GVNotifier portable?
A: Yes, copy the application files from the GVNotifier install loction. Create a blank text file named settings.xml in the same directory as GVNotifier.net.exe. GVNotifier will then store all preferences and cached contact photos in the same directory.

MightyText
I think you have to use chrome because it has a chrome extention.

I was wondering, any devs, is it possible to get the genius button software to work on the Amaze? That is the only thing I miss from my old 3g slide.

Or am I wrong?
Basically yes, but it worked so much better for me. I do a lot of driving and it was nice to have hands free mode turned on and it would read me my texts and tell me who was calling.

download vlingo from the market, it has car mode, it does all of what you are saying better than genius...trust me I've used both...you can activate it by voice, it reads incoming messages and lots more.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Genius options on the MyTouch series are integrated into the firmware giving them the ability to access text messages, music, search, etc. I don't think that can simply be installed it will probably need a custom firmware built from the MyTouch line.

your wrong programs on the market can have permissions set up to access things on your phone, integration into your firmware has nothing to do with it, android is and open system allows programs to access other parts of your phone...download vlingo go into car mode and turn on safe reader...heck there's even a tutorial with the app, It won't tell you who's calling it will read your texts...you can download other apps to read you who's calling...search the market. If you really wanted the genius button why didn't you just get another mytouch???

It's 5 bucks last I checked and it's impossible to Pirate.
Supports up to 4 USB (or built in) cameras to be viewed at once on screen (with sound), and from multiple computers at once as well...
I used to use it back when I was on my iPhone, it's also available for Android.

I hate to be that guy.. but talking about pirated apps is a huge no no on xda and can get you banned. Because you are on a site for developers. That would be like going to a music artist's page and talking about how you steal their music. I'm not a goodie goodie by any means but there is a time and place for everything and this is not the place for that

Yea, there are a few that do this, Im not sure if they are still around, give me a bit (later today) and I will see if I can find something.
In the mean time, check if AppBrain has this functionality.
When I had my iphone (4 yrs ago) I had an app called "Appsniper". It watched apps I selected and alerted me of discounts.
Only if there was some other way... Wink!

I'd rather the app notify me in the notification bar or just when I log in the app rather than it start at boot... many apps don't need to run at boot but still push notifications to you. Draw something the game for instance...

Yes I get your point. Maybe it is a funding issue. Using airpush or similiar if there is one may be an extra cost to the developer. Hopefully it is a route that more developers will use in the future.
Im the developper of AppSales, thanks for your feedback!
Like Agoattamer said, the app needs the "start on boot" permission to start the service which checks if there are new sales(if you haven't disabled it). If you remove the permission, the service will start with the first app-launch.
Im going to start a new thread in the app-section in a few hours. Feel free to give me some feedback there.

Putting more "smart" in our smart phone

Looking for an add-on or app that will lend some intelligence to the Rezound in the areas of notifications and sounds (or, if it's already there and I am missing how to do it, please advise).
Specifically, I am hoping to find a way to do the following:
- Let me program a "night" mode - so during certain hours (say, 11PM-7AM?) my notifications sounds are muted (buzz is ok)
- Need to do this independently of the ringer (as I don't want my ringer muted during this time)
- Need to be able to control the reminder buzz/sound. Don't need to be constantly buzzed at night when an email comes in and I don't acknowledge it
- One more for the wish list - a way to tell my alarm I keep set for Mon-Fri that I want it to skip one day (such as on the 4th last week, when I was off). Would prefer that to turning off the alarm, and setting a reminder in my calendar to enable the alarm again the next day.
FYI, running Nil's ICS Business Sense 5.3 ROM.

Btw - THAT was a good response.
I don't mind a learning curve, and at least now I have some clue as to what to research...also figured someone may have already created a mod or tweak (or app) to do these sorts of things, hence why I asked.
Seems these would be basic functions you would expect to find in a smart phone?

And I was just saying you could do it manually like put it on silent and stuff if you play around in both sound settings and the messaging app settings
Got it...thanks for the heads-up.

Seems its a Moto only app, but I found one called Llama that seems to work in a similar fashion.

Just installed slim coming over from liquid...so where is the email app, not the gmail app. There is no email app and I can't add my hotmail acct
Also since there is no email app,I guess I can't import my contacts either
Is there any way to change icon size

naw looks like they didnt include it,just gmail
i mean the whole rom is like what 75MB? they gutted a lot, hence "slim" i guess
i never used the email app, always used 3rd party like aquamail, maildroid and k-9,all those seemed to work better for me than the stock email
what do u mean cant import your contacts?
Why are you asking questions you obviously already know the answer too? Just search for the stock email apk.
Jesus Christ I wish I could taser people through the xda app sometimes

Its not a hard attitude. Its my impatience for incompetence showing.
Its called 'search'. Its a matter of using the deductive reasoning any grade schooler should understand innately.
1.Q: Is the email app here?
A: no
2. Q: How do I then get it?
A: I look for the apk file to install.
Now if you answer question 2 with, "ask xda developers", then something is fundamentally wrong with your problem solving skills and you should feel bad about yourself.

Dont defend these worthless people. They don't deserve anything but the truth. Anything else is simply a disservice to them, yourself and xda as a whole.
You won't find kid gloves here. Now let this sink to the bottom of the abyss where it belongs.
Better yet, let's have this deleted, children.
Way too much back and forth for an email app. Doesn't look like much was accomplished.
Thread Closed & Thank You.
