[Q] SMS: How do I select multiple contacts? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
How do I select multiple recipients for a sms message on the X10 (X10i, 2.6.29-00054)?
Once I select the first contact I'm taken directly to the text input screen . On my Arc I'm able to select multiple contacts .....
Thanks in advance,
Jef
EDIT:
I found the solution... I just needed to use the menu button to have the option to add a second contact

Verizon My Button SMS Messaging

I have a Verizon Touch Pro and I do not like the fact that there is not an easy way to move from conversation to conversation in txt messaging.
For example
1. you are having a convo with friend 1 and then friend 2 txts you
2. the only way I know how to move to that other conversation is to use
a. the ok button on the touch screen or
b. the back button on the front hardware buttons.
c. hit the messaging button and then select sms messages
I was thinking that if the "my button" could be mapped to sms messages and it would relieve this issue as it would be a single click back to all the sms conversations, but that does not seem to be the case as the closes i can map it too is the mail setting which goes to the same place as (c) above.
Any help on this will be very much appreciated

[Solved] How do you add another number for a contact on the phone?

Sprint Hero
Firmware 1.5 (stock)
I have searched for it, and I see no answers....
Problem: I have a contact in "people" named "john smith". "john smith" has a number (or two, or three) entered in for his contact already, let say his "mobile" number. "john smith" calls me and I say "hey where are you calling from?" he tells me he is calling from home. So now I would like to add that number to his contact. I cannot find a way to do this.
I have tried going into "people" then finding the contact, and going into "edit", I've tried pushing and holding everywhere to hopefully find a menu, i've looked in the "menu" and the "add" button looks promising but no go.
The manual says:
1. Display the entry in People
2. Scroll down the screen and tap: ADD>PHONE
3. Tap the type of phone number you want to add (for example, HOME or WORK)
4. Enter the phone number and tap: SAVE
...This sounds great, but when you click on MENU and then click on ADD it asks you to "select a default action".
I know I could add this in my contact entry for "john smith" through gmail, but you would think that I could also do this through my phone, it woould make more sense.
Thanks in advance for any insight.

If you go in via the people widget, and you select a particular contact - one way is to select the three parallel bar button at the bottom of the widget - you can then select the person from the list after this (it defaults to the list). Selecting the contact should show the details for that person. From there, if you hit physical "menu" button, it will present options including "edit". Click on the "edit" option on screen, scroll to the bottom and click on "Add details".
thanks bluehawk, I had forgotten that I posted this.
and forgotten to thank you.

[Q] Calling someone on your contact list

Hey Folks,
I've got a question about calling someone on your contact list. I've only found two ways to make a call:
1) Go to your phone book and press down on the contact for a second. This brings up a menu where you can select the option to modify the number before making a call. From there, just hit the call button.
2) Go to your phone book and tap on the contact and that takes you to an Info page. From there, you can tap the number and it will call. Not to complain about it, but this requires a bit of finesse. There's a TON of space on the screen to have a call button.
Is there something I'm missing? Neither of these options is any good.
1. Press the contact pic n you get a mini menu option to call, txt, it email
2. Download a dialer app-personally, I'm using dialer one. On contact list it has a green button by the name to call instantly. Also has smart dial function; so u can spell contact name using number pad and find contact
3. Create shortcut on home screen for ur fav contacts
1. Long press on homescreen
2. Choose shortcuts
3. Direct Dial
4. Choose the contact you want
5. If you want to call them, just tap on that shortcut from your homescreen directly
I put a bunch of my direct dial contacts in a folder so i can call them with 2 taps essentially

Native SMS with Google Voice

Does anyone know how I can configure the native SMS to run Google voice?
I do not have unlimited texting so I use Google voice to send and receive texts.

Hrm- well sorry to state the obvious - but you have Google Voice installed on your phone?
1. Open Google Voice.
2. Press your menu button (physical soft button on the phone).
3. Press more.
4. Press settings.
5. Press sync and notifications.
6. Press Receive text messages.
7. Press Also via the messaging app.
Not done yet. Now you need to check your setting from a computer.
1. Go to Google Voice Inbox on your computer.
2. Go to options (upper right corner - the little cog).
3. Choose voice settings.
4. Under the Phones tab (the first tab) scroll down to the bottom and check to see that "Recive text messages on this phone" is selected. If it is- cool. If it is not - then select it.
5. ?????
6. Prosper.
I hope that that works for you. That's the best I got on the subject.

Lost Viber Integration
Hi! Apart from what you are asking I lately lost another way to place Viber calls, and that is through the contacts application. In the past all of my friends who have Viber would have a Viber icon in their Contacts entry, so I could dial them over Contacts directly. This icon is now gone and I cannot add the Viber account to the "Accounts and Sync" settings. I can see it when I select "Add Account" but when I select Viber the onlx thing that happens is the application starting, the account is not added. I am on Westcrips Resurrection Pro V 1.1. Any ideas how I can get that funtionality back?
Hey buddy,
the easiest way if u don't select the standard for dialing.
So when u swipe on a contact from left->right, u can choose how u wanna dial.
For example:
^Dialer
^Skype [If u have installed]
^Viper
If u don't get this possibility to choose, check the settings for standard of dialer in "settings > applications > all"
Hope this helps...
