[Q] Verizon Droid RAZR with AT&T (US) - Motorola Droid RAZR

So I heard Droid Razr is a world phone. Does that mean that Verizon (US) version can be used on AT&T (US).
I am sure if it has both CDMA and GSM radios then Verizon is probably locked it for CDMA only use in US. if so, can it be unlocked?
Or Do I need to look for a GSM version from Canada to use with AT&T US?

u need gsm version. mine is Asian model, works perfectly (after u enter proper data connectivity profile manually, takes 30 seconds)

I'm kinda a noob at this, but yes it can be unlocked just as the bootloader can be unlocked, but its locked down from everything I have read. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

CDMA Drazr and GSM network

Hi,
I live overseas and my network uses GSM 800/900/1900/2100 and UMTS 850/1900 (sams as AT&T)
All Verizon Razr come with SIM slot?
Are they UMTS 850/1900 compatible? Will I get 3G and H data?
What about Razr MAXX? Does it come with SIM slot?
I need to SIM unlock it or is it ready to put any micro SIM?
Hope you can enlighten me with this info.
Best Regards.

the cdma and gsm razr both have the same razr, with the cdma razr on ics you can use non U.S. sims no problem. so if you are oversea from the us you could get the branded cdma razr cheap, put it on ICS and use your sim. it should get 3g/H as my razr (gsm did with an at&t sim) so in global mode the cdma should
(don't take me a100% on this, but i am sure from what i read, but i am in the us. so i can't test it myself. maybe wait till someone else chimes in)
my questions is similar to this one if anyone could help..thanks

Thanks for your reply.
I am asking this (and so is my friend on the post above this one) because Verizon CDMA phones are always cheaper than GSM.... even cheaper if the have BAD ESN...
So, every Motorola RAZR have micro SIM Slot? Are they unlocked or I need to buy the code? Do you remember the Droid 2 Global? Those had SIM slot's but some of them had they unlock code changed and were IMPOSSIBLE to unlock... hope this is not the case with the RAZR.

from what i've read on the forums you need to either put the verizon razr on ice cream sadwhich (4.0.4) or use the hack to enable global mode in gingerbread (2.3.x)
so no unlock code. and yes, the verizon razr uses the micro sim for 4g lte sim

i have the gsm version (xt910, sorry i wasn't as clear about that as i thought, i said gsm, should've put xt910)
the xt910 has the cdma disabled and the xt912 has american gsm blocked.
and I've seen a few people claiming they flashed an xt910 to a cdma network like metro (it does have the radio, and couldn't the flashing program give them the esn/ect?
but i use it on simple mobile (so only edge for me. i might go to t-mobiles $50 plan if the non throttled edge is faster)

Confusion about the term 'unlocked'?

Hey all...
A friend of mine would be visiting the US next month. I was thinking of ordering the DNA at a full retail price (obviously). But this term of 'unlocking' confuses the hell out of me.
What does it actually unlock? From what I read, it is already unlocked and can be used with ANY SIM around the world. So, my friend just walks in to a store, buys the phone and gets it here in Delhi, India for me, I pop in my SIM card and everything just works fine.
Is that right?
Do I need to be aware of something that might not work. There is no 4G here yet, but I use 3G. Will that work?
Everything from 3/2G, MMS, calls, Msgs...everything will work just fine right?
THANKS!
Most of the unlocking in the DNA forum is referring to the bootloader. Since Verizon is the Anti-Christ of cell phone carriers, they don't allow phones to be sold with an unlockable bootloader. However an exploit was discovered that allowed HTCdev (website to that is used to unlock non-Verizon/AT&T HTC phones) to see the Droid NDA as a different phone and then unlock it.
The phone is GSM unlocked out of the box. Meaning you should be able to put your SIM in, plug in your carrier's APN settings, and theoretically be able to use 2G/3G/MMS/SMS/Calls. However, I'm not sure what frequencies carriers in India use for GSM and if the Droid DNA supports those frequencies.
There are some CDMA carriers in India I believe. I don't know what steps need to be taken to use the Droid DNA on them or if that is even possible. (I don't think it is)
(if I did a bad job of explaining it, or got some details wrong, someone please correct me)

Thank you sir for your reply...however, I didn't get the last line about CDMA bit. Is the phone CDMA or GSM. I don't care for CDMA devices as of now as I am never going to switch. Also, is there a way to find out about the frequencies you mentioned...?
And, what about the price. What should my friend tell the rep? As in, wha phone is she looking for, locked, unlocked, carrier unlocked?
thanks a lot for your reply.

Thanks again...doesnt really matter. Im and will always be GSM...Would you what it is priced at, an unlocked version?
The retail price is $599 plus tax, and what carrier do you use in India ? Each carrier has different frequencies and the DNA might or might not support you specific carrier frequencies

I searched Google and found that Vadafone India uses 900/1800 Mhz and the DNA supports 850/900/1900/2100 MHz. Looks like it will work on 2G only.

[Q] verizon motorola XT926 How to enter the Unlock code

verizon motorola XT926 How to enter the Unlock code?
I have a XT926!
I insert the T-Mobile card
Telephone network, not prompted to enter the unlock code.
Only prompt: this sim card is from an unknown source!
How to enter the Unlock code?
There can unlock this XT926?
Thank you

XT926 is already simunlocked for GSM carriers worldwide but it wont work with us operators, that's simlocked to any operator except Verizon in the states.

Does the same hold true for the RAZR with the OTA that leaked out early (4.1)? I know other phones got true global sim unlock (even US carriers) with their JB updates. Wondering if this is the case with the RAZR.
Have you heard of any way around this
i have the same problem and i would like to see if there is a way around this issue. any input is appreciated

All HTC Droid DNAs purchased through Verizon are factory locked. You can find ones online that may be unlocked but most are locked.
But, fortunately, it's extremely trivial to unlock an HTC Droid DNA and, from what I've heard, they work just find on GSM networks like T-Mobile, etc.
Good luck!
The dna is factory unlocked if your going to run on a gsm carrier just grab that sim pop it in and switch the network mode on your phone to gsm through settings.

You also need to change the APN settings to get Internet and mms to work. I just switched to Net10 AT&T version. You can also use T-Mobile just takes a different sim. You won't get 4g lte since our phone only has that band for Verizon but your 3g will be faster.

They are bootloader locked, not carrier locked, which is what he was asking. There's more then one type of lock on these devices.
So, all DNAs are carrier unlocked for GSM use, in case it comes up again and you answer

People out there still give misinformation about the DNA not being unlocked. The term doesn't really apply since its a Global phone. Both GSM or LTE Sim cards work so any GSM carrier and Verizon on the CDMA side will work.
thx guys for your prompt replies! The only other time ive used a verizon phone on gsm network was the droid 2 global. Which was "unlocked" well atleast sim unlocked but had a band lock and needed the TBH band unlock ( great group btw) to unlock the bands to use american gsm networks. I just wanted to confirm that the DNA didn't have a band lock like the droid 2 global.

nopes, no band locks..i have used the DNA on AT&T and T-Mobile in USA. Airtel & Idea in India with no issues. 3g worked on all 4 carriers.
what about cdma
would the phone work if i put in a cdma ruim from anothe operator (want to use this on reliance cdma in India)?
or does the bootloader need some fixing before it can recognize the reliance ruim?

[Q] Motorola RAZR MAXX (not droid razr maxx)

Ok, so i'm starting a new thread regarding the MOTOROLA RAZR MAXX, not to be confused with the VERIZON Droid Razr Maxx. I have a Motorola razr maxx XT908, it is GSM and UMTS compatible and CDMA as well. I've spoken with Verizon, AT&T, Net10, Motorola and asurion and nobody can help me. However, the phone is capable of 3g GSM HSDPA , so I'll need to remove the Verizon XT912 software and find GSM HSDPA compatible software. This isn't a case of simply wanting to move to another network, it's driven by the lack of Verizon service at my home.
Basically its an XT908 that thinks it's an XT912. Since I won't be using the MEID number with CDMA it will work with a GSM 3g HSDPA sim card.
Does anyone know what software is available out there to make this happen? Thanks!
How can I convert razr xt912 to an xt910 GSM , it's an xt908
Can Someone tell me, step by step what I need to do to convert my Motorola razr maxx xt908 which is running Verizon xt912 to an xt910 for use on US GSM hsdpa networks? This phone is unrooted, bone stock and I need clear instructions on what I need to complete this. I'm completely lost in the wasteland of information on rooting, backing up and what I need to do this. I will glady donate to a reliable source for this operation.
Is there a way to wipe the traces of Verizon's system version, baseband version , etc and install a GSM based version?
There must be!!
I'm confused why you think you have the xt908 if it has the VZW xt912 software and it's never been modified. Just because the phones share most everything does not mean the software / firmware is compatible between the 2. For future reference, some of the Motos can be unlocked, and the xt912 is already unlocked for international use (after the ICS update and beyond) but will not work in the US for GSM. The xt907 and xt926 (some variants) can but the quest for unlocking the xt912 for domestic GSM use never went anywhere.

I've researched it, I spoke with asurion, they sent me this NIB Motorola razr maxx xt908 after they sent me a refurbed phone that still had problems. I spoke with tech support and asked them if they provide this phone to non Verizon customers and he said yes. The bottom line is, the phone has both cdma radio and GSM, but the Verizon model has the gsm usage blocked in the US, all I'm looking to do is convert this phone over to a GSM based software, similar to what Asurion does when they get an order to replace a phone. If you are Asurion, wouldn't you want one model phone that you can configure for use with any carrier? So they get the order to replace, load the Verizon firmware, pack it up and ship it out. I also spoke with Motorola about this, they didn't say it couldn't be done, all they said was I'll void the warranty. The phone was new, it says XT908 right on it, so obviously its able to run different versions of firmware, otherwise I would have an xt912. not an xt908 running Verizon firmware. There is no branding on this phone, it does not say Verizon on it.
This is what I want to do: back up the phone using android SDK, completely wipe the phone, not factory reset, no safestrap, then install xt910 firmware for use with gsm carriers. My only other options are to ebay it for 100 bux or give it to my kids to play on. The problem I'm having is finding accurate resources with links that work to complete it.

My understanding about the xt908 is that it is a different variant for smaller US CDMA carriers and isn't possible to unlock for GSM. Definitely wouldn't be able to put the xt910 firmware on there.

this is my phone, http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_razr_maxx-4666.php
the specs are primarily hsdpa gsm, umts
This is what my phone thinks it is via software and imei
notice CDMA is listed as other not the primary radio feature
Unfortunately, that's actually not it. That variant doesn't have CDMA meaning VZW software wouldn't work at all. Moto decided to do their model naming while they were drunk. They also have 2 different versions of the xt912 and xt926 (the it's just that Maxx and non Maxx variants, but still...) But yours is a repurposed one from a small CDMA carrier like this: Motorola RAZR™ MAXX XT908 • Illinois Valley Cellular These are NOT the same, despite the model # because they do make a CDMA xt908 and GSM only. The software / firmware will not be compatible between.
