[Q] Forever In Beta? CM7 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had a quick question regarding CM7.
Will we ever get a stable and working version of CM7 on our devices? Our GS2 is coming up on one year, and we still don't have a stable version of CM7!
I had moderate hopes for CM9, but considering how long CM7 has been in beta for, I doubt we'll ever get a working version of CM9.
What's the hold up?
Let me apologize in advance for sounding like a spoiled, entitled little douche.

People like you should be banned for making stupid posts like this.

I believe they stopped cm7 because of cm9 development. I may be wrong though..

Noob question here

I am new to android and I have rooted my TB with perfect storm rom and I love it. I keep hearing about this CM7 rom that everyone is waiting for. I am just wondering what is so special about CM7? What makes it so much different then other roms that are already out?

CM7 is a AOSP. No sense what-so-ever. They are great devs. Everything is customized. The support from the devs and the community is overwhelming. It is fast. M-once it gets out of beta, the release candidate , rc, are stable. CM7 was introduce to several devices as cm6, then to cm7.
I would suggest searching, and reading about cm6/cm7.

[Q] ICS AOSP and CM9

I'm currently on ICScrewed 2.1 right now but i'm considering upgrading my phone to
ICS roms. However, there are two major choices right now: CM9 and AOSP
what is the difference between these two setup?
What exactly is the advantage of CM9 over AOSP or the other way around?
Are there any bugs that exist in these Roms?
just wanna clarify things a little bit

Look in ported development forum and check the respective Roms thread. Then READ them both so YOU can make a better decision of whats right for YOU.
CM9 is an AOSP ROM

Just flash them both and find out for yourself.

Well right now IMO the aokp and current cm9 builds are very similar since cm9 doesn't have a lot of the tweaks

don't do it I wasted my whole Saturday morning on those ics things in ported section
I recommend the AOKP build by Fenny in Ported Development. I love the rom and have been getting great battery life. I mostly use my phone for email, text and social networking and have no complaints nor have found any bugs.
I've tried them both. CM9 is easier, AOKP has more stuff. Best to look at the threads if you want to know how it matters for what you care about.
They are both very similar and you will be fine with either.
why has this q been in the general all day? red your starting to slack a bit haha im just kidding. its saturday woo hoo!
Things aren't quite ready yet... give it another day or two, the floodgates will open soon.
I've been on fennys aokp all day and I'm loving it. Just video recorder doesn't work and right now I'm just trying to figure out how to get pics to save to external memory . But its super fast and the features are awesome especially the ocing and uving built in. I've been playing with face unlock it fun. Camera is better and faster than gb.
Haven't tried cm9

I personal like AOKP. and I am a big CM fan. I've used CM9(altough I have tried CM9 since the 3/14/12 nightly) and AOKP sims alot nicer.
D/Ling the lastest CM9 now give it a try
Hands down no questions asked I gave been up and down both rims and aokp is better a lot more features and settings

[Q] I'm gonna sell my vibrant, but want to load the best rom..

I love my new phone, so I'm not gonna experiment with roms on a phone I no longer use.. but since I got to wipe it anyways, what is the most stable(preferably ICS) rom I could load in case the person who buys it isn't capable?
I know a few people who are excited about ICS and want a phone that has it, but can't afford the phones that now have it stock.. so I may be able to get a better price by giving them what they want.
And please no flaming about searching and all that jazz.. I want opinions from people that have tried a few and know which is best.
Install ICZen
If I were selling mine, I'd probably throw CM9 on, just because most people know cyanogenmod, and if a device is supported by them, they know they a have a great support base and lots of features and updates. They might be more apt to buy. Again, that's just my opinion.
If your selling it to someone that is incapable of messing with rom's themselves then take if back to stock otherwise they will have too many issues they can't deal with and end up with a bad user experience.
I'd probably ODIN the phone back to stock, a unlocked Vibrant on a 2.2 ROM tends to sell for around 20-30 dollars more on ebay than one on a ICS ROM.
Remember, most people don't know the difference between Froyo and ICS, they just want a phone that works well.
CM9 4/11 build working great. Better than froyo

Okay I appreciate the feedback.. so what would be a reasonable price to aim for either way? Only issue on mine is paint chipping on the bezel, which I couldn't help.. haven't used the phone in months, and I want to sell it before it drops in value any more.

AOKP Builds 31 is excellent. Also, I'm curious, what new phone did you get? I'm due for my upgrade in a month and the only thing I think it's worth it right now on T-Mo is the Samsung Galaxy S 4g Blaze.

I was going to create a new thread but my question is very similar so I hope no one minds me tacking on to this thread.
I got a used vibrant for my wife, rooted it, and installed the latest CM7 nightly. My wife doesn't care about Froyo vs Gingerbead vs Icecream sami, so I just want a really well performing stable rom with working GPS and good battery life. CM7 seems to be stable but the battery life is poor and I have yet to get a GPS lock.
Any suggestions?

Seriously, AOKP latest build. GPS works for me, but I occasionally got the deep sleep issue, but moving over to Sub Zero 70 kernel seems to have fixed that. Head over to Rootzwiki and look around.

No matter what you do before you send it put the wallpaper as something nasty. Trust me. It brings in those buyers quickly

Lol I sold my vibrant for 170 with cm7 the buyer was super excited (he knew about cm7) apparently. So anything aokp/cm9 should be fine.

What is the most current COMPLETELY STABLE Miui build we have for the Thunderbolt?

I don't care if I have to go back to FROYO so long as everything works the way it is supposed to.
Anyone got any clues???
I think its vicious miui 4.0 but mms is not working

Sorry, no answer and don't pay too much attention to any other answers you get here. Why? It seems Thunderbolts are different. What works on one phone may not work on another.
I've had good luck with Thunderstick Bareback. As always, YMMV.

[Q] Best Atrix ROM at the moment?

Hope I'm not breaking any rules here, as I'm an XDA noob and I sort of have that "lost sheep" feeling whilst I walk about..
But it appears that a recent ICS/JB leak for the Atrix 4G has more or less revived development for it, making me blow the dust off of my old Atrix and wanting to experiment. It's a little difficult to tell what is stable sometimes, as all ROM posts don't exactly provide a "this works" and "this does NOT work" kind of detail.
Is there a stable JB ROM at the moment?
Good chances are there aren't, and if so, is there a stable ICS ROM I can toy with?
Assuming there aren't fully-functional ROMs for either, what's the best GB ROM out for the Atrix?
Hoping I don't get yelled at for being a noob, but I appreciate any help I get. Thanks in advance!
There are stable JB ROMs out there. I'm using epinters cm10 which is running nicely although there's no hardware acceleration so the camera is a bit laggy and you're not able to use the camcorder.
As for best GB ROM anything based on cm7 is great. I thk most people would say MROM is the best out there currently. I haven't used it but you could give that a try. I was using topsmarts GB up until a few days ago which was the best GB ROM I've used in terms of speed and battery life. Currently using epinters cm10

A bunch of other "which is the best" threads have just been closed. Pretty sure this one will be too.
We don't allow "which ROM is best" threads, because we want to remain respectful to developers and ROM choice comes down to personal preference. Thanks!
