My HTC Mozart has died following a failed official update. First I had bootloops now it is just dead. Is there anyway to unbrick it
Thanks

Try use Windows Phone Support Tools, or give the phone to guarantee

Can you not get the device into boot loader?
Just in case...
Power Off the device
Press and hold the volume down button and switch the phone on

Thanks I think it is bricked back to the shop with it

Will Sony be able to tell I rooted phone if it wont Turn on and wont recognize usb?

Well as the title says i rooted the phone a long time ago. I noticed my phone didn't charge yesterday so I started messing with it and realized it would need to be sent back. so I wanted to start unrooting, but I couldn't connect into flash or usb at all. I did manage to start a flash once , but then it lost connection half way through and the phone doesn't turn on at all now. I can't wiggle usb or anything at all to get it to recognize so I imagine the board or something need to b replaced. question is will sony be able to tell my phone is rooted in its condition and if the replace board i'm in the clear right? thanks guys!

i think if it doesnot turn on they dont bother repairing it.it is happen with a printer i giveback to bestbuy and they replace it right away without even plunging to power.
oh yeah when I say doesn't turn on I mean it vibrates as usual when u try to power on, but it goes no where. no sony logo or anything.
Oh no. Just tell them the truth, hopefully they don't care... wish ur phone good luck...

Well technically rooting the handset does void the warranty. However, if there's no way for it to turn on, I don't see how they'll be able to tell!
Just use sony ericsson update service
I had the same and it worked for me

I have tried the SE update service and the phone won't go into flash mode because it seems that the usb port is faulty and loses connection. I'm just sending it in and hoping it gets by them. If not I will just pay for the repair I guess.

This happened to me too. USB port was faulty, couldn't charge, couldn't flash. Vibrate on power key and red light flash but no Sony logo or anything. I borrowed a friends fully charged battery and got phone turned on. Entered recovery and wiped everything, system, data and cache. Then sent it off for repair as it was then a blank phone. They just sent me a new one

Thanks....This eases my mind a little. My wife actually has an x10 as well and I tried her battery as well and it won't go anywhere. It just doesn't work so I am fairly confident that they will jsut be repairing or sending me a new one. It goes out tomorrow so my fingers are crossed. Thanks again for the insight everyone.
Update: I called Sony today for an update on my repair and I was told there was no record of my service request. The support agent I spoke to assured me he would call me back by the end of the day with an update. Well I was waiting and UPS arrives suprising me with my phone The packaging was verrrry bad. It was in a flimsy box wrap in some thin styrofoam wrap thing. The box was dented pretty badly, but the phone seemed to be in working order. The best part is they just sent me a straight replacement. So I put sim in and power her up and it's asking for an unlock code...AHHHHHH!!!!!!!! Spoke to Sony, AT&T and Rogers to try and get them to provide one, but they wouldn't give me one. So now I am waiting for a code to be sent to me from an online company. Hopefully will be up and running within the next 24 hours. I'm just happy it was replaced no questions asked. It actually was sent out to me the same day it was received so that's some quick turn around time.
They can always check for root eeven if it doesnt turn on how? Via the sdcard they take it out and plug it into a sdcard reader then onnpc they check for stuff unusual like superuser app or anything revelant lol

And besides, files related to root are not stored on the SD.
From release notes on emma you can see that from 2.11.4 version they added detection of rooted phones..
So answer is yes, they can detect if phone is rooted, ofc if they are able to read data from phone..
I have tried 3 different unlock companies online and none have been able to generate a unlock code for my new phone. This is unreal. I dodged the rooted phone issue easily since they couldn't power on phone, but they sent me back a locked Rogers phone and no luck getting it unlocked yet. This sucks :-(

Nothing comes on the screen but a splash screen with Asus in the middle and "The device is unlocked" top right, I cannot believe from having a tablet that was running to now a tablet that cannot to my knowledge be fixed.... I'm so gutted.... Is there a jig or something so I can connect somehow to the tablets with a pc, my pc doesn't recognise it, I'm guessing I have a hard bricked Tablet here and bootloader is unlocked so Asus will just laugh at me and charge me more than its worth to fix it...... I'm sure this is gonna be a more and more popular problem as people updated to jellybean and may use the wipe in the stock recovery..... So a lesson here to you all that may do..... Don't use wipe in Stock jellybean if your battery is less than 40% its just not worth the risk.... If anybody had any ideas I would appreciate them. Thank you.

I have the same exact problem.... I can, however, get the computer to recgonize it through APX by resetting the prime holding the power button volume up. This puts it into APX mode. Unfortunately, I can't do a full system flash because I never backed up my NVFlash data....
I hit wipe data in the recovery screen as well and BAM. toast....

You need to do so through device manager. Choose Update Driver for the device, then "specific driver" (browse option) then "Have Disk" and point to the path you have the driver files. On newer windows OS's you should get a "Driver not signed" warning just click install. Voila, driver installed.
Of course the device needs to be plugged into the pc at the time....
But it doesn't even know it's connected, I've connected the usb to Asus prime and pc I've turned on prime and it's on slash screen but the pc isn't doing anything, and in device manager it doesn't show anything about my prime being connected

If you are unlocked and only have access to APX mode, but can't get to bootloader, and you have not installed NVFlash, the only option is to get a new motherboard and figure out how to install it which cost around 150$, or send it to Asus and have them repair it for like 160$+60$+10$, :/ sorry.

$160 - for the motherboard?

$10 - for them to ship it back?
Total Cost $230 - crap on a stick, that's a lot....

A similar thing happened to me - installed JB, rebooted and stayed on the splash screen. Like you I hadn't installed NVFlash or anything. I didn't even have my serial number handy. Rma'd mine on the pretense I was going to pay to have it fixed. Unbrick hard brick via motherboard cmos battery pull?

i cant really find much about this but i did read somewhere that one possible way to easily unbrick a hard brick phone (one that doesnt even turn on) is to open the phone up and remove a small battery that looks liike a wristwatch battery, and put it back in again. this will reset the bios and hopefully alloow you to turn on the phone again.
i own a bricked HTC amaze 4g and i tried doing this although it seems like that battery is soldered on. does anyone have any tips to easily detach this battery?
thanks,
Btw - that battery has in most of the cases just a single purpose - keeping RTC (Real Time Clock) running even when "the big" battery is discharged or removed so phone doesn't lose the track of time and date. Bricking a phone does usually involve damaging/erasing data from the persistent storage (flash memory), and no battery is used there.
What you're referring to is not so common with todays phones - smart or "dumb". Its mosly a computer phenomenon. The fact that the phone wont power on doesn't necessarily mean its hardbricked. As rbeavers suggested, its usually a case of corrupted or damaged data in system memory - probably the bootloader. You could try flashing a new bootloader.
Can you tell me how can I flash bootloader when phone is not booting up ??

Pull our battery.
Put battery back in.
Then out the back on.
Then hold volume down for a few seconds and keep it pressed.
Hold power button a few seconds after you've been holding volume down.
Tada you're in the bootloader.

You can flash anything you want even though the phone theoretically may not boot.
And you probably won't even be in that situation since you already did all the mods for the international amaze. So don't worry about it. It is very hard to completely brick a HTC phone.
I never heard of bootloaders being corrupted. Its hard to imagine that. If that happened I guess you can just use a RUU.

Dead HTC One qhsusb_dload

Made the mistake of bricking my Att HTC ONE M7. Ive tried everything to revive this damn thing, did loads of research to see if anyone came up with a solution with no luck.
I was restoring my backup phone (Galaxy S2) to convert my mom to an android and get her away from that pile of **** iPhone. I downloaded a philz recovery from the xda app on my ONE for the S2 (which is something I've always had a rule against for this reason).
To make a Long story longer I, for some reason, thought it was for my ONE. Flashed it in recovery (TWRP) "Failed" then I realized what i did. But it failed, I then flashed a bootanimation. "Success"..
Restarted my device but it never came back on. No lights, screen, or response from any combination of buttons.
I guess the recovery flash ,even though it failed, was the nail in the coffin. I just can't believe it died that easy even though it let me flash a bootanimation. Not paying attention just cost me a lot of money and loads of pride.
It shows up qhsusb_dload in device manager. I e-mailed HTC and I'm gonna try a warranty claim. Also talked to someone about Jtag.
If anyone wants to attempt a solution Im game.. I will keep this post up to date with what run around HTC gives if I go that route. If anyone cares...

Their is a fix now .. I did mine today
QHSUSB_DLOAD Fix
This will fix devices which were bricked due to firmware incompatibility. This can be caused with the way HTC handles the firmware updates in it's m7's OTAs. If you've been flashing from a 3.x firmware to a 5.x firmware via OTA, or manually, you most likely have a device stuck in QHSUSB_DLOAD. This tool is for you
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2770684
Prerequisites
the appropriate package for the device
a supported bricked device
a usb cable
fastboot
distro utils: md5sum, strings, tail, grep, unzip ( all included in most linux distros)
some basic linux experience
root access on a linux machine
patience
DISCLAIMER: We do NOT guarantee that this method will work for you, or that it is flawless. We are also not responsible if your phone is completely dead after the procedure, or your house burns down because your phone exploded. You are doing this in YOUR OWN RISK.
Instructions
Boot the linux box and download the appropriate package for the device.
Remove the sim card from the phone. Do not connect yet
Extract the package in your working directory
Open up a terminal and cd to that directory
Run revive.sh as root and connect the device
Code:
sudo ./revive.sh
The procedure is automated. At the end of the unbrick process, you will need to charge the device fully and then flash one of the full firmwares bundled, as pointed from the script. This is crucial to ensure device stability.

[Q] HTC Evo 3D CDMA Bricked

Hello, I hope that I am in the correct forum. I just recently bought an HTC Evo 3D CDMA from a friend who said it was bricked. I am a newb when it comes to things like this. I am not computer defunct but I don't know how to fix things like bricked phones so I have to have very specific instructions. There is no display on the phone and when I plug it into my computer it installed a driver for "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM4)" and in my device manager it shows that under my "Ports(COM & LPT)" heading. I have seen other forums for unbricking this phone but do not understand how to do it. Can anyone please give me detailed instructions so that I can fix it? I do have Ubuntu available on a USB so I can boot from that if it will help. Please help me. Thank you so much.

If hboot is what shows up when you hold down the power button and the down volume button then no I cannot access hboot. The screen stays black the whole time. So if it is going to hboot it is not showing up on screen. If the phone whould just be recognized when I plug it into the computer then I might be able to fix it, however, nothing is working for me.

Make sure its unplugged. Remove battery and reinsert, boot with power and volume down. You should be in hboot

If unable to get into hboot you may very well be dealing with a true brick, or hard brick rather. I personally don't know of any ways to fix this without jtag. I believe most or all unbricking methods that are not jtag are meant for a partial brick i.e. boot loops or freezing during boot.

Take the SD card out and try to boot to bootloader
If it works, take the cover off your phone
Plug it in to your PC
Then you can take the battery out
Install the SD card
re insert the battery
Now you can disconnect and put the cover back on
Hope that works
