Error in Video Capturing - HTC EVO 3D

Hello Dear friends
Recently, I have a problem related to captured video in 2d mode.
when I start to capture the video in 2d mode, camera application will be closed.
I have changed my sdcard and also custom ROM (These custom ROMs have been tested, such as Leedroid v5.3.0 & KingCobra v1.9 & some sense 3.5 Roms). But, the problem had remained.
This is notable that when I useing 'stock camera pack' there is not any problem. Do every body know how to use custom camera in custom ROMs without any problem?

Where you using a "custom camera pack" other than what the custom rom brought?
It's a very complex question because anything can be hurting that side of the phone if you factor in a custom ROM, even if its been a tested ROM the chances of it not acting nice on you phone is possible.
I think that you should submit alogcat together with details of ROM, and every other aspect of your phone so it can be evaluated. It's not a common occurrence so its hard to troubleshoot without further information.

Not sure, but I read somewhere that in LeeDroid, you have to change the codec for video to work? Not sure if this is the case with any other ROM

I didn't use any custom camera pack, I just used camera app in each custom rom such as Leedroid, king cobra or shooter beats
I had this problem in all of these rom
of course I had this problem when I adjust resolution of video recording to 960*540 and in other resolution this problem dont occured.

[Q] Evo 3d camera calibration issue -synergy rom

I am having problems with the camera taking 3d picture after i installed the Synergy-3DVO_RLS1_08-21-11(NIGHTLY) rom. The preview right after the picture is taken is fine, but when you go to the gallery to look at it the calibration is WAY off! It doesn't line up at all vertically. I tried using the calibration tool and goes left and right fine, but the image is off vertically, making it look blurry no matter what. 3d video taken with the camera plays fine, but 3d video I had on before no longer plays in 3d either. Does anyone else have this issue? or a fix?
Same issue here! I posted in the rom thread and no answers yet... Hopefully this gets fixed.
Fixed the problem. I used "superwipe" and updated to "tweakedsynergy" and the pictures now work great! Even better than stock rom. Just look for the thread on xda and do the superwipe before you install the new Rom. Hope it works for you too. DONT forget to backup before you wipe and install!!!

How to solve grainy video playback in newer ROMs?

I have been using Rafdroid v4.2 for the past 3 months. The main reason I am sticking to this ROM is because its video playback is perfect. I have found that video playback using all of the newer ROMs are all grainy and of poor quality. This is especially obvious in darker scenes.
This includes the CM7 and MIUI based ROMs. I have also tried all of the lastest HTC based ROM, including the latest “BoxmaX KS v8 DesireHD GB 2.3.5 +Sense3” thinking that being based on Desire HD might solve the problem but they all have the same problem. The poor video playback quality is persistent using either stock or third party app.
My question is what determine the video playback quality? The Kernel, base ROM? I would love to start using the latest GB based ROM but this one issue is holding me back.
Is there a way to solve this problem in the newer ROMs?
I think it might relates to the HW decoder files but I'm not sure..
I too have been using Rafdroid for a while now, hardly ever boot into WM anymore. Great ROM and everything works, and yes, the graphics are great as well.

[Q] Leedroid Tweaks / Amaze Camera Evo 3D

Anybody having compatibility issues with the Amaze camera and the Leedroid Tweaks installed at the same time? I mean, camera works fine just can't record videos, it crashes and force closes when I try to record video. However, stock camcorder works fine prior to flashing amaze camera. Keep in mind, no matter what ROM i'm on, be it a stock rom with Leedroid Tweaks flashed after, or one with the tweaks built in or even ZR3D rom with Tweaks built in as well, flashing the camera doesn't allow the camcorder to work AT ALL.. Anybody, please help, i'm at my wits end trying to figure this one out.
I just flashed TN Adrenline 2 days ago and got Leedroid Tweeks running and the Amaze camera and camcorder work fine..but they r built into the rom not flashing seperate..
Evo 3D ViperROM v.2.5 downgraded HBoot 1.5 to 1.4
I'm saying Leedroid Tweaks and a flashed file of the Amaze camera.. what rom is that? can u send me the link?

I too was having the same issue and came accross this thread while doing a google search. Since a solution wasnt given to you and I didnt feel like flashing a new ROM (Im on Viper), I searched the official Amaze Camera on EVO 3D thread on XDA and came accross this solution to the video camera not recording.
While looking at this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1302943
I noticed on the Known Issues section that a bit rate higher than 12mbps on MPEG Codec can't be used. I checked my settings on the video camera and noticed that Codec used was MPEG4 and bit rate was set at 16mbps (I didnt set those options, they were there when I flashed the camera zip). I changed the bitrate to 12mbps and I can record again. Also codec H264 can be used with any bitrate according to them.

I thought that I had done something wrong too, but after change to codec H264 everything works just fine
Maybe wrong version of Amaze .. Amaze port for EVO 3D comes with over resolution .. You can try other version with resolution of 1920 x 1080.
yeah, i used the lower resolution one and it worked like a charm.
All is good on Mean Rom 4.0.. Amaze comes baked in and I flashed Leedroid over

[Q] Issues with video recording... please help

hi guys, this may have been better in the development forum, but because I don't post on xda, I cannot post a reply there.
I'm having an issue with the camera on my Evo 3D GSM, specifically with recording videos. Taking stills is perfect.
Whenever I try to shoot video, the camera app crashes and the phone restarts. In 720p, this is almost instant, whereas in 480p it will record for around a minute normally. Now and then, it will record, but normally the video is glitchy, and often displays "this video cannot be played" before the end, even when it does record fine, which is rarely.
My first thought was that it may be an issue with the SD card. I tried with a class 10 16GB and still had the same problem. I also tried flashing various ROMs (JB, ICS) and all of them have the same issue. I also tried clearing the data and cache for the gallery app, and trying a 3rd party camera app which acted in the same way.
I thought maybe it was an issue with my device, but the camera works fine on sense based ROMs. AOSP 4.2 by helicopter88 will record in 480p just fine. CM10/10.1 record 480p for normally up to a minute, AOKP crashes both on 480 and 720. I also thought that it want an isne with the ROMs, but no one else using the ROMs (Disarmed Toaster, Gangnam Style and helicopter88's stuff) has reported the same issue.
any advice or suggestions from more experienced Android users is appreciated. ask if you need more information. thanks
Some evo's have more problems with the camera then others. I for one was somehow lucky enough to get a phone that has zero recording issues. Some people have scanline problems. You mentioned that Sense based roms work. The Buttered Toast kernel has a fix for the camera on AOSP/AOKP, so flashing that kernel might help. I don't know if it will also fix CM roms or not, but its worth a try?

YouTube no more than 360p

Hi there, this is my first post but I'm not new to the world of custom ROMs.
I have had many ROMs over the years and have recently flashed the slimsaber 4.4.4 v9 with dorimanx 3.14.
All seems to be well apart from a few minor issues that are not of any concern. That is apart from YouTube! My favourite app. It will no longer allow my to select anything greater than 360p. Kind of annoying. I have tried many things to fix this. Like flashing the ROM again. Adjusting DPI to 200. Even used xposed installer. And I can't figure it out.
It was working fine on my previous ROM (jb. I went back to stock ROM) I have not reflashed since the problem but might try as a last resort.
Please can someone help with this. I have read many forums that date back a few years relating to this issue and have tried suggested fixes.
Why is this happening? Could it be a hardware problem?
Thanks
Mark

Hi
I suppose you searched already in slimsaber 4.4.4 thread for you tube problems? I saw several posts concerning this matter.
Does you tube properly work when using Browser (test not only with stock Browser but others like Dolphin).
Sent from my STAIRWAY using XDA-Developers mobile app
Thanks for quick response.
YouTube only plays audio on stock browser. On dolphin it works the same as the app.
I'll check the threads again.
Are there any video drivers that can be installed. Is there a way of formatting that will rectify it? Any one have any suggestions?
@elemenopy
I don't quite get what the point is. I think our device's screen resolution is only 360p, right? So it doesn't make sense to try bigger resolutions in YouTube, as you will see no difference. Someone correct me if this is wrong.
As far as i know screen resolution is 480 x 800 pixels

Hi,
You can't install any video drivers onto the ROM as the correct ones are provided by the kernel.
If you really want higher than 360p, try using this modded youtube app:
[MOD] YouTube 4.4.11 (v5b), *1080p* / 720p HD (over WiFi & 3G), screen off playback
Please note that the screen resolution is 480p, but youtube only defaults to 360p.
Note: Dev-host link is a bit dodgy because one of the download buttons seem to be an ad. The correct download button is safe and I've used it on my S2.

Yeah, forgive my ignorance on that part. I'm back on stock 4.1.2 and YouTube only allows 360p. However, I guess the reason why I was hunting for this 'fix' was due to a pixelated image on YouTube when on the slimsaber rom. Also the stock browser would not play video image only audio. This has now gone back to normal now that I'm on jb.
