[DIY] Minimal Sleve - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Not being one for wanting to hide my Prime away, I did want to be able to protect it if it's loose in a bag. I thought a microfibre cloth would be ideal, so bought a microfibre dog towel from Tesco (40x60cm)

Folded 3 times, stitched along each long end, and along the short end then turned inside out. (I didn't sew it myself, but only because I was too lazy to find my sewing machine in the loft!). Cost - £3.50, plus a meal for the sewing
It's best to err on the side of being slightly tight rather than loose, since the fabric will probably stretch a little in the first few days.

Neoprene from a wetsuit would be even better & what I plan to make as I have made them many times in the past as they absorb more shock & pressure
Nice job

Use the microfiber to line the neoprene

I like £3.50 DIY projects! How do you close it? Just by folding it?

Haha! awesome. I did the same DIY several weeks ago but by hand (so looks worse) jejejeje.
The next step would be to use a suede-like fabric, and create a small sleeve that would look tip top.

Yes. The open end just folds over - it's about 1/2 the length of the prime extra. Long enough to tuck under neatly if it's on a table, and long enough to stay in place in a bag, I hope.

if you want you can spend another like $1 on a fancy button that you can use to close the bag
just an idea
but that looks very nice tho good job!

It looks like a pillow. I would sit on it. Be careful if you leave it on your couch.

DIY soft case from military equipment

Not specific to the G Tab, but that's what I have so I'm posting it here...
I was nosing around for something distinctive to carry my G Tab and, since I'm a Soldier, I was looking for something in ACU camoflage. I didn't find any tablet cases in ACU, but I spotted something which I have and turned out to work perfectly: the case for an issue 100 oz (3 liter) water bladder.
There are several types of varying sizes and profiles. You want the one that looks like this:

}
or this:
You'll notice that they have a squared off bottom. The width is perfect for the G Tab and the carrier is already lined with foam. I had a couple of the green type spare, so I used one of those; but the ACU version has PALS webbing (which would let you attach a MOLLE-compatible pouch) as well as a nifty carrying handle.
I slid the G Tab in, made a couple marks and started cutting. I cut away material on the front (where the cap and black material were) and found that left a perfectly-sized flap on the back. I sealed the cut with duct tape and duct taped over the backs of the snaps and grommet to prevent scratches. Then I sewed on a strip of Velcro and reattached one of the existing straps near the top and I was done.
Total construction time was maybe 20 minutes. I spent more time nosing around for the materials. It's ugly, but supremely functional. I may finish the duct taped edge, or I may not.
At any rate, just passing along a source for a cheap, unusual and repurposed G Tab case.
Good innovation. You should take that by someplace that does alterations, and secure that duct taped edge. Is that blue band velcro? If so, and due to the noisy-ness of that signature velcro r-r-r-rip, you might consider snaps to keep the flap in place. While you're there, have them pop on some PALS webbing and a pen sleeve, or two. Sorry, I'm a gear-do...
Seriously, though, that's pretty cool.

I really like the look of the blue case. Cheers for showing us these.
Looks like from doing a bit of research on google they are roughly a good $15-20 to buy so not too bad (that's Aussie dollars)

amazing... where i am buy in indonesia ?
Great case (I have one) although it doesnt cover much of the front of the phone ie front edges or buttons when lying face down on a surface and the camera/mic area is also exposed when lying down on a surface - otherwise excellent case.
Oh yea the right hand side of mine pops off and the case moves slightly back and forth over the phone causing scratches - the movement is solved with sticky tape between the back of the phone and the inside of the case.
I have incidentally since bought a Krusell case which is far far superior in many ways (see post) but does increase the size of the phone a lot more than this slim fitting profile Imak case.
P.S - dust/dirt getting between the back of the phone and the case can cause a sandpaper scratching effect between the hard surfaces and I used some sticky tape to stop the slight movement as the case moved over the phone to also stop the scratching (and the movement).

[Bored] Protection for the dock (warning - large images)

I got a little bored, so I decided to order some 3M Di-Noc. Basically the same stuff as Skinomi uses but it's not pre-cut. Ordered a huge sheet. I thought to myself "I have pretty steady hands, and basically all I have to do is cut out a rectangle in some vinyl". Anyway, here are the results. Some things to note.
- I removed the rubber feet, applied the vinyl and then replaced them after cutting the holes out.
- The corners are the hardest part.
- Not for the faint hearted.
- I used the edge of the aluminum bottom as my guide, so the vinyl goes all the way to the edge.
Overall, I think the results are pretty good!!! Enjoi!!!!!

That looks sick! What's ironic is I was just on google trying to find a sheet of CF vinyl for the dock that matched my skinomi skin..lol
Very nice. What solution did you come up with for the corners?
Very nice job! I've surrounded my car stereo and the back of my galaxy nexus with cf di-noc..... this is tempting,,,,,,

Going slow, using a hair dryer to soften up the vinyl and being patient. All of these things are typically pretty foreign to me!
Cool different colors also. Also, consider that installation permanent.

quick & easy DIY terry cloth pouch

I just made this 'getto fabulous' pouch in the past 30mn, and thought some other broke arse around may be interested in replicating and/or creatively improving on the idea:
I used an old microfiber terry cloth for cars that I folded in half and sewn 2 adjacent sides to make a quick & easy (non-scratching) pouch.
I have the tablet and dock and fits in snugly. Tablet by itself is relatively loose, but then again, i intended for tablet + dock.
This is neither fancy nor high-tech. Just a quick "what do I have to make a pouch to put into my bag and not scratch the outside" thought...
Pics below for the curious.
Figured I'd share
Cheers!

dude that thing is hideous . but seriously props for doing it yourself, i like the effort. nicely done! no one will ever expect you have the nicest tablet in the world under that thing.
Makes for an excellent theft deterrent.
That thing is serious. Haha ima broke ass too but I only spent 10 dollars on a poetic leather case from amazon. Its pretty cheaply made but the case still looks very sharp and does the job. I lost the screen cleaning cloth that the tablet came with. Need to find a good replacement. Maybe one of those micro fibers will do the trick.
It IS hideous! I totally agree. But has served me well so far! I guess that If I had a sewing machine and flipped it inside out, it would make it a whole lot "nicer looking" and "stream lined" But in the end, this is function > form, and it serves well as a "theft deterrent" & "on-the-go cleaner" like ya'll said.
LOL I appreciate the comments, like I said, just a random idea i thought I would post hahahahaha
You can't beat a carry kit that doubles as a cleaning cloth and camouflage against theft, as long as a cop doesn't mistake you for someone doing numbers or drugs in a sack lol

Case Cover

Ok... after having a tpu cover for several months i finally took it off and gone nekked.. it's my day 2 and boy it sure does feel pretty good in the hand and i'm loving the fact that i can always glance at it and admire its build quality and the overall looks of it. Although don't get me wrong...even though covers serves your cell extra protection from slippage, nicks etc it still won't prevent it from damages like scratchess and i'm just not a fan of slight bulkiness. what's your take on this???

this is what i have on full body cover http://www.ebay.com/itm/180800325521?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
cheap , one of the best in market , easy to install
I have a tpu case myself and as much of a keep it bare kind of guy HTC did a stupid thing with making the touch screen higher than the body itself. But the tpu case I'm a fan.
Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads!
I have a TPU cover with translucent back that shows the rear and HTC logo. I mostly have it on for work and when working out. I go naked whenever I go to restaurants or out in public and just slip it in its Nexus One like "Andy" pouch.
