[Need Testers] BT Voice Search - Atrix 4G Themes and Apps

First things first, I am not a miracle worker. This does not magically make voice search get audio from your BT headset. Google needs to fix that poorly thought out detail as far as I can tell.
What it does: It provides a dirt-simple way to start the Voice Search app from your BT headset rather than the nearly-useless Voice Dialer app.
How to use it:
Sideload the little .apk
HAVE VOICE SEARCH INSTALLED
Do what you normally do to start the Voice Dialer with your headset
Choose to run VoiceSearchIntercept by default
Try it after locking your display to make sure it still works
Post your results
Thanks guys. It works fine on my phone!

Would like to try but I can't find a way to have my bluetooth device (venturi mini) launching voice command
Does someone know a way to assign a specific action to bluetooth device buttons?

If you were to provide a logcat while pressing some button with that bluetooth device I might be able to work something out for it. Are you sure it doesn't work if you say, hold down the call button or something for 2-3 seconds?
There are apps on the marketplace that let you do things with your buttons, but I didn't find the ones I tried particularly helpful. That's why I made this one

I'll check it out later. my Bluetooth is charging.
I have a Bluetooth headset, LG Tone, that I'd be interested to see if it worked with your app.

It should, but let me know either way!

so this worked fine for me last night. I paired my Bluetooth earphones, pressed/held the call button, and it popped up your apk that I had installed. from there it automatically launched Google voice search.
although I think my mic sucks because it would never accurately do what I told it to.
but yeah.

Awesome
I can't believe I didn't comment on here last time.
I was trying to do this with my Droid Incredible and your little app is the only thing I ever found that fixed it. Now I have a Razr Maxx and have found it's still using the default voice command and I scoured the internet until I found this post again.
Thanks again, for making this. It's absolutely what I was looking for!!

Glad to hear other people are still using this! Maybe I'll make an icon and put it on the Market...

oh, you should. thought it was already on there. I just used your apk from up top.

I am using a Samsung Galaxy Nexus with a Jawbone ERA bluetooth headset trying to get Voice Command to launch instead of the default Voice Dialer.
I tried Bluetooth launcher, I explored using Tasker automate what your app does, but looked like it would take some effort plus purchase of Tasker from the Play Market.
Your app works like a charm each time after I selected it as the default.
You should definitely put it up on the Market with the description of launching Google Voice Search with the Bluetooth Multi-function button so more people can find it easily.

This is my first windows mobile application. It's not the best but maybe it'll be in the future.
This small program runs in the background and checks permanant if a headset is connected to the PocketPC. When the headset is removed accidentally or intenional from the PocketPC, the volume will be set to a default value. This should prevent, that you forget to change the volume or to stop the music playing and so your music won't "annoy" other people around you.
It's very important that you report me every error (maybe with screenshot). That's the only way to make the app bug-free.

Suggestion are welcome on every time.
Sounds like a great application, I'll wait until you have the GUI finished, but definitely would use it!
Sounds cool look forward to gui being done as i can see this being a very handy app.
what a wonderful idea
thank you so much.
Got instructions on how to config the reg settings? Great app. I use my phone as a aux in for my car and always have to turn the volume down for work.
that's really a good idea !!!
thanks
great app!
maybe you can add a feature that it automatically disables the headset when there is call (incoming/outoing)?
this would be for people using normal 3,5inch headphones (no headsets) so they do not have to remove the headphones when they want to speak on the phone!

There aren't many settings to do. A little how to is written in the readme.txt which is included in the zip and also will be installed in your installation folder.

I'm sorry I haven't thought about this. At the moment there is no way to route all audio to the headphones. I will fix this in the next version and maybe I make it selectable in the GUI.
Thanks man would love tht if its possible my only wonder is how come nobodys ever done it b4? i mean am i the only one who listens to music off of my phone in the library?
Here you go, attached is a simple config i made which lets you change the current app opened when the Headphone is connected
Main Thanks goes to stephj
let me know if you want me to add any other configuration to it
Hi Ather.
Thanks for this little app. I'll finish Version 0.2 including the GUI this evening. Then everybody has full control about all supported features. (Unfortunately my time is very scanty at the moment so it takes a bit longer to do all the work. )
you are welcome , sorry i mispelled it, i spelled it AudioCatcher instead of AudioChecker

Can we set this up, so that it autostarts after every softreset?
edit: It does it by itself
Yes, the installation copies a shortcut into the autostart folder in \Windows\ directory. If you don't like to autostart it delete the shortcut. I'll make this optional in the next release.

[Q] [SOLVED] Incoming SMS notification during call

I have searched the internet a few times over the last few weeks and find only the same old, dead threads with poor solutions or seemingly good solutions which have been pulled from the market (such as app called "missed call"), and nothing new, so here goes:
It is a documented Android phenomenon: we hear nothing when a text message comes in while we're on the phone. There is no LED so glancing at the phone from time to time (I use headset) doesn't cut it. I have to try to remember to wake the screen to check from time to time and sometimes I miss time-sensitive messages.
Are there any solutions that I have missed? I don't really want to go the route of BLN, or 3rd party SMS app; I may have to I know. But I do hope there is a way to make this shiny new top-notch device do a basic thing that has been accomplished by every device I have owned since this one

You did not say what exactly the solutions you tried, so I'm not sure if you already did this: go to Settings > Call > Call alert > Alerts on call and set it to sound, or any of your preferred settings.

Oddly enough, i never saw this before. I must have looked in the Sound settings menu 10 times. I'll try it out, thanks. If that fixes it, i wonder why it was off by default in the first place
Edit: It works, thank you.
You're welcome! I'm still very new to all this (android and the SGS2), so I'm looking around my phone, playing with it, trying to figure out things.
On a related note, do you know how to get custom alerts for text messages? I can't figure it out, and I doubt samsung took out that simple feature that's been around since I can remember.

I can see that, but I cannot use other ringtones besides what's pre-installed in the device. That is, if I want to use an MP3 music file as my SMS alert notification, I cannot add that file to the list of SMS alert notifications. Is it really like that?

Ah ok, so what you have to do is go in your "sd card" the built-in memory, not "external sd" and create a folder called "Audio". Inside here you make 3 more folders: "Alarms" "Notifications" & "Ringtones"
You put whatever you want for sms/email, etc in the Notifications folder, it should show up in the list for choosing your sms sound.
Thanks! It took me a while to get back to this thread (been really busy). It works!

Make ringer volume and notification separate ICS

OK, I'll try one more time. I found a great solution to a huge problem in that my ringer and notifications on on the ICS Rom's have the same slider. WTF??? This was a major issue for me. I want my phone to ring but not want to hear every email and text that hits my phone. I just found and app on the horrible named "Play Store" and it's called "ICS Enhanced Ringer Control" and it works. Yes it's $2.99 but well worth it if you are one who is like me and very frustrated about the volume control problem.
Maybe I'm late to the party but I've tried I think all the ICS Rom's and this was an issue with them all.
If that helps then I'm happy for everyone else also.
Thanks for pointing this app out. Truly stupid thing to removed this option from ics. Why did they do it?

It's one of the great mysteries of the modern day why this was not changed in ICS as it was great with gingerbread, froyo etc. Must remember that the ICS we have here is a "leaked" version being used on these Rom's, at least this is my understanding.
On gingerbread you could select if the notifications were tied to the ringer, you can't do that on ICS?

Ok maybe I'm just weird, but is there a way to connect the ringer and media volume? It drives me up a wall to have to turn down to evolume in YouTube to watch a video when my phone is already on silent....
Try Audio Control, it's by far the best volume management app in the Google Play store. There is both a notification and ringer volume for ICS or Jelly Bean.
Really helpful developer too.

I tried to find a way to do this and could not find an answer, even on GB, it seems that Navigation is just Media to the phone, that is why it is linked to the Media Volume setting.

Any way to get Voice-to-Text like from the Galaxy Nexus?

Had the LTE for less than 24 hours and I really like it! I assumed the voice to text (like in the messaging or email applications) would be the same across the board with all ICS devices, but the voice to text feature is the same as basically any old Android phone I've had. The voice-to-text capability of the Galaxy Nexus is superior. I'm wondering if there will end up being any way to get it like this, or if you think there may be some future roms that will include this feature? Thanks!
Voice to text in this phone is the same engine as used in the galaxy nexus. the only thing different is the keyboard. In fact, I wrote this using voice to text.
Sent from my HTC EVO 4G LTE
What keyboard are you using? I noticed that if I switch to Swype, and click the mic button, the voice to text is more like the Gingerbread version. You can always select ICS Google voice to text from the notification bar though, even if you are not on the stock keyboard.

When you click in any text box, you should notice a little keyboard option in the notification menu up to, to the right. Pull down the curtain and click on that, you'll get the option to choose google voice.

Its an engine, it receives your speech, goes to google and processes quickly...if..you have a reliable connection..which it doesnt seem to be the case with your screen shot from what I see anyway..
Hope that helps
I'm on wifi this is not a connection issue. I can use the stock keyboard anytime through out the day and it works fine. If I switch to a 3rd party keyboard and use the pull down menu to quickly use voice dictation it will give an audio problem message right after using it once. It's not a connection issue, may be a Rom issue but I'm not sure yet until I get some people giving me their experiences.

So have been testing call record with my car's bluetooth and it seems to work, got the Bluetooth alert telling me to switch to speaker mode,I left it connected to bluetooth(I have a galaxy nexus which doesn't seem to support line recording(made my recording with microphone default level 2 gain)) I dont know if the recording was made with bluetooth or with the microphone, quality was ok,certainly clear enough and I could understand fine,
Happy to provide further information.
Also I am sure I got PhoneLine working once although I know the GNexus is listed as not supported so I guess I must of dreamt that
One final thing in the app it says it is version 1.2 but you provided me by email 1.3 and Titanium backup reports 1.3 so maybe need to correct that?
Thanks and let me know if I there is anything I can do or if it is possible to record using PhoneLine on my Gnex
Cheers
Any comments zakiancel?
First of all thanks for the help

Its a Galaxy Nexus GSM phone, the voice came from the car not speakerphone,I had recording set with microphone as source(as line does not seem to work) and although I didn't switch to speakerphone as per the alert,it still seemed to record and voice came from the car speakers,so record over bluetooth worked, whats the chances of getting Line working?
