I just picked up my tablet the other day. The one on display in Best Buy had blue icons on the bottom for the back, home, screenshot buttons, but when I got it home, they were grey. Doing some looking I learned the blue went away with the 3.2 update. I came here to see how to change them back, but I'm still not sure. I've seen thread about themes and ROMs that both have the icons I'm after. My question is, which am I after, a ROM or a theme? I'm already rooted so a ROM isn't a problem, I just don't wan to if I don't have to. I bought ADW Launcher Ex thinking it was in there from some of the threads I read, did I miss it?
A push in the right direction would be appreciated.

the ones in best buy don't have touchwiz on it...yours does.
this is stock honeycomb 3.1 with the blue buttons and all.
http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/?p=2075
flash that in cwm recovery.
that will get you to best buy software.
I am not rooted ( and therefore dont have a rom on my tab) but I have browsed the dev section quite a bit and I am pretty sure ROMS is what you are looking for. The ROMS here are based off the vanilla stock AOSP which give you the blue icons ( which I assume are the buttons in this image here? http://ausdroid.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/p1030394.jpg )
If so then you would want to look at the roms exclusively as most themes, that themers make, change the buttons there to something different. So look at the screen pics that the ROM dev posted if they are there then you are more than likely good to go

I would suggest this method as probably the easiest.
by the way a ROM is a ROM.... a theme is made to dress up a ROM.

Thanks for the quick replies. I don't want to go backwards so I'll just play with what I have for now. Tomorrow I'll probably wind up playing with some ROMs just to see what's out there.
I would check out Task 14 Revamped for a ROM and in themes and apps I'd check out b00sted's themes. Both are very recent stable and very well supported. I have never used any of b00sted's themes but I know they are kept up to date and seem very active in his thread. I've looked at a few of the screen shots of his themes and I think you'll find what you're looking for. Plus they're made for Task 14.
You can always customize one that has what you really want to change wallpaper and such that may not be your taste.
Make sure you look around before choosing a ROM so you can make sure there is a theme already posted for the ROM and the theme meets your visual needs before anything else.
Best of luck.

Looks like b00sted's ICS theme has what I'm after. Thanks for the push. Unless you may have seen other theme's out there that have the same. His are the only ISC theme's I find...

I was a big themer of Swype betas on the G1 running CM 5.0.8, and I was just wondering if there would be any interest in seeing some themes ported to the beautiful screens we have here
just a thought. if I had a little support and incentive, I would be more than happy to start cranking some out.
that being said, I haven't tried to theme this version of Swype yet, so I don't know if there are hurdles to overcome

Any way you could put the spacebar in the bottom center while in landscape mode? That would be... awesome.
this would b awesome. I wonder if you can theme it to look like l the htc ime keyboard

With my previous experience with Swype, this cannot be done. Swype operates by using a word detection algorithm working over static images... So the location for the spacebar is actually buried in the source code, and Swype doesn't even like us sharing the beta releases from non-preloaded devices. In short, no

I have all the files still from my previous work, which includes these versions:
-HTC IME Theme
-MyTouch Slide's "Black Glass" Theme
-HTC IME Color variants: Dark Red, Purple, Black Steel (Black&Grey theme), and bits and pieces of other color variations I tried and didn't like on the G1 I had at the time
-Naked theme, has no dividing lines or color on the background, displaying white characters. I have an inkling that this might save on some battery life
-I also have remnants of theme requests I made. I was working with another themer, so he had half of the themes, and I had the other half.

All I was saying is that if I had to put more work into Galaxy Swype themeing as I did beta Swype themeing, it would be nice to be compensated. I am by no means selling my services, but I have limited time lol Time=$
Anyways, I will get started on this project in a couple hours
the black glass theme on swype from the MT3GS would look amazing on our vibrants. i for one am looking forward to this. a quick question for you though, is it possible to apply the themes to the swype keyboard without the vibrant being rooted. i was trying to hold off from rroting until 2.2 releases

The only way to move these themes to this version of Swype is to metamorph w/ root. Seeing as how the distribution we are using now is device dependent, there might be hurdles to overcome as far as just installing the apk. Now, since we are now using the device that this version of swype came with, I might be able to get permission to distribute the apk amongst fellow galaxy s users from the company itself, since it is made to run only on this line of phones.
If I can get that permission, and we can get it to install straightaway without a hitch, then yes it's possible without root.
And honestly, the root process is so easy on the Galaxy/our Vibrants, that I didn't see any reason not to do it. The G1 was such a tough device for me to get the hang of and root.
I will most likely use the metamorph theme style, since that is the most viable and executeable option available currently. I have been in contact with Swype's community relations rep for the past few months, and they said one of their main priorities now that they have recognition and a few contracts, is to implement themeing. this could come to the devices that are preloaded with Swype to begin with, when they get the 2.2 updates from their carriers. But, that is purely speculation.

Why not root? I've rooted and flashed tons of different crap. This phone is unbrickable. Not only this, all it takes is an Odin flash in download mode and your back to 100% stock. Not to mention, rooting the Vibrant is terribly easy.
I would like to see a green or red version of the current blue theme.
been using Prestige X Rom for quite a while now and its been nice and smooth up to a while now...but the developers seem to be unreliable to bring out any new builds...
so im looking is there a stock like clean rom without bloatware with windows 7 icons and decent performance that looks like this...the screen is not hard to make its just CHT with the shorcuts and a custom wallpaper and it makes it look nice simple and unique...
ive snooped around and cant find anything like it and i dont like any of the icon sets on rom here that would look as nice and stock...not a fan of the stock icon sets either...
the only W7 theme i found is a bit outdated and you cant change lockscreen or certain bits and pieces of the rom cause devs did something to it...and the rom hasnt got any updates in a few months now...so if any willing to make a theme to go with the newest ROMs or a ROM like it with all the updates would get a nice donation from me

I agree with you prestige-x hasnt released a new premium rom for over 6 weeks. The still take your money to be able to access the premium site but nothing happens there.
yeah it sucks...i tried a few other roms but their either to plain or too fancy...they say that their releasing new roms soon but lmao theres no word from them for a few weeks now.
I swear that I can remember there being a host of Metamorph themes that will morph SenseUI with dark Rosies and different types of batteries (yes, I know there are lots of circle battery flashes) and things.
I scum through the Hero themes and apps, and can't find much.
I scum thorugh the Eris themes and apps, and SWEAR I can remember more, months ago.
I am I confused? I feel like SOMEONE would have/did make a blue battery/highlight color flash, or a different Android guy when a no-picture-stored contact/caller is on the line, or a graphite/black battery, or clear notification bars.
I see that there are LOT of cyanogenmod themes, and that's super. But although I see an awesome orange xtrSense theme there, I am lost on where all the metamorph themes I remember seeing, went to.
I feel stupid almost, since I've been around computers for years, and spent LOTS of time on forums, and even helping people, and rooting friends' phones, etc etc etc.
I swore I remember seeing a HTC hero theme repository thread with like 100 different little themes and metamorphs. I can't even find that (assuming any of those would work).
Am I crazy? Confused? (feel free to slap sense into me if so)
Where are all the SenseUI metamorph themes? Do I need to try to learn how to make some?
Yessir
I've been wondering this too, I remember before I rooted seeing a picture of an Eris with a black rosie and all the grey turned black. Heck that was half the reason I rooted, but I never have found it lol. guess I got side tracked.
I've been thinking of trying to make some Themes for punk.kaos's froyo sense when it gets stable. I've figured out a little about theming android, (I'm still not that good and have never themed sense, so dont expect much.)
I'd LOVE to have a white and blue sense theme though, that'd be on point.
I have only made two themes for the eris. One I posted on here the other is not done, so I guess that technically 1 1/2 but who's counting, and I can tell you it is more tideous work then actual challenge. The reason for lack of themes is probably just a demand thing. Most people that have the eris have had it for awhile. So they either already have it how they like it or have moved onto another device. I think it would be great for those of us with the eris to help out with theming and developing. With all the hard work the developers put in to the roms the least us as the end user can do is make some themes for others to use and give a variety of option for roms to look. </rant>
I think that may come off harsher then it was meant to when I was typing this. Anyway, if you or anybody else on here needs help making themes, I would be more than happy to help in anyway I can just message me on here I check this place probably 50 times a day. I would love to help some people get on the theming bus and help make some new themes for us to choose from.

I dont think thats harsh at all, its just plain fair.
the handfull of devs here work so hard bringing us roms we never would dream of seeing on our phone, the least we can do -if we are able- is contribute a little time to editing some pictures. it makes all our phones have that many more options. course...lifes not fair
I would love to learn. Where do you suggest I start? I've already taken pieces from several different themes to make what I want. I would like to see a nice sense ui theme. It can be done, shadowrom has a theme that is as close to sense that I've seen yet. They got about everything but HTC Widgets and the real htc launcher. However the themer made an HTC launcher dock background and some blank icons that when using launcher pro is very nice because your icons don't show up on the dock like they normally would. What would it take to incorporate the real launcher into a theme?

Here are some of the metamorphs I think you were talking about. Really the only ones I could find that seem to work. I know there's more out there. Anyone else got anything?
Simple Black Lockscreen arch
Espresso Rosie!
Im tryint to figure out where to find the icons at. I want to change my folder icons blue. Any help would be appreciated
I don't know what the specific name is but is anyone make one for a ICS sense based Rom? I like the look but like sense as well

Couple of things...search through the forum. There are a couple of different options on here if you would just search a little. Also, you can try McLuvn's skins in the market.
Second, you need to modify your post. Put [REQ] in front of the title. You're going to have some people kind of pissed seeing this and thinking that you have something for them to download.

Ah, I see. Gotta give it time. These ROMs just came out so it'll be a couple of weeks at least before themes are made for them. The devs are still trying to make sure that these things are stable and running perfectly. Once they work out all of the kinks and get their tweaks in, you'll see some themes come out. For now I would just recommend using a different launcher like Go Launcher or ADW and downloading a theme.
Yes I second that, I picked up adw for $0.10 during the special. It runs great and I was able to download an ice cream sandwich thing and it looks awesome ill post a screengrab in the morning

Maybe now would be the time to start learning how to theme I make my own themes because I know what I like
I've been reading up on it
Hey Guys
It may be a silly question but I was wondering why the official release still looks like gingerbread I mean obviously some parts look like ICS but others dont, why is this ?
This can be fixed with a theme editor I guess but I was just wondering why, when O2 release this to customers will it still look as it does now ?
Yes it will as samsung are so in love with touchwiz that they should marry it.
I use spb shell so will stick to that.
But use any launcher to get the look you want. When Im not using spb use launcher pro as it gives you a wide scope to play with

Hey person from Telford! nice to see another.
This is the way ICS will look on the SGS2. Samsung wouldn't change from this look as it could potentially alienate a lot of their 20million customers.
Hey guys thanks for the answers, so whats the best way to make it look how its ment to is there a hack to get the look or is the best way via a theme ? the reason I ask is because I have come across this guy http://www.samsung-galaxy-s2-android.com/rom-android-403.html
that is the look I want and he seems to have got the look with earlier versions
The way to get the stock look is with a theme like my ICS RED
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535956
or with a custom ROM.
thats diffrent so if I look for that but im guessing th blue one im after that should do me thanks

Correct me if i'm wrong, but that is AOSP ICS version, so that's the default look of it.. It's not themed
means nothing to me mate so thats the original rom from google or a beta anyway, Im guessing this guy will update this soon then ?
I just want my SGS2 to look like how google inteneded mainly cause its better looking

The problem is that AOSP isn't 100% functional yet.. video recording, MTP and some other things don't work yet and they will remain that way until samsung releases sources or xplodwild finishes his kernel ^^
oooohhhhhh its all starting to make sense now, that makes sense so its just a waiting game really then we can install the google version and its then happy days, so thats what this guy is doing and the CM9 guys
I guess what they do now then is backwards engineer what Samsung has released and work from there
I'm also interested in this. Basically I want a change from always looking at the same menu after a year and i had hoped ics would give it but im hearing it all looks the same cause of touchwizz. So I'm hearing different things, some people say install a theme, others say install a launcher and yet others talk about installing a new rom?
The Ressurection Rom looks quite cool, is it really a bugfree experience? Do i have to reinstall all my programs, downloaded apps and stuff like battlenet authenticator?
Can I install the ressurection rom now or do i need to wait till my phone has ics installed trough kies?
What is the best way to go to get a smooth ICS type experience? Whats the main difference between these things? (sorry im a noob by the way and theres so much information on this site its hard to get a grip on it).
Have a look at the link i put up I think the best thing is to install that rom after its been updated again with the new version of the ics that was just leaked
