HI,
I want to see if the problem is only with me. Right now I'm really disappointed from Samsung. here shows comparison of camera quality:
iphone 4:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKm-7rzfS2g&feature=player_embedded#at=124
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGAteITuZVo&feature=player_embedded#at=59
s2:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TFm93qvGnU&feature=player_embedded#at=65
Quality absolutely awful compared to the iPhone 4, there are quite strong background noise (Even I was recording in a completely quiet room I can hear background noise)...
* I will note that the Hacked Camera.APK mod of Potatoman still did not help
Is my cell phone is broken or simply Samsung had blown it???
it seems that you were standing right infont of the left loud speaker, were with the iphone it seams the guy way in the middle. so it wont get so much distortion.
I have the same problem with my S2 when the outside audio level is high.
NIK516
i far from the speakers , the iphone 4 is closer to the speakers
and you can hear the different.
and i have more video that you can hear that iPhone better if you wants..
i try to fix the S2 problem mic record not to compare.
thanks
Are you certain you installed the Camera.apk correctly? 6 seconds should equal roughly 12Mb (stock is about 9). If anything this is either the modded camera (When I used it the audio was very shrill, much like the video you recorded. This is due to the larger sampling and bit rates.), Samsung screwed up (maybe this is just how the mic records), OR you were standing in a poor location (the two video weren't recorded in the same place from the look of it).
I think that being close to a speaker should not be a problem if the auto-volume adjustment worked properly. What we are trying to understand here is if this is just a problem with our devices or a general issue. Is there anybody who can confirm that videorecording live music performances with the S2 does NOT produce distorted audio?

Same problem here as well...
same problem, please help
Same problem! I would love to see a fix for that. Even a little bit of wind will screw up the sounds completely. I'm also looking for an external mic now....
It looks like you can't use an external mic either...

I just did a test with 2 different earbuds w/mic. the Camera app doesn't seem to use the external microphone when recording video, it just uses the internal mic. When I used the voice recorder app it does indeed use the external mic and makes a huge difference.

I have the same problem (record in a quite room with no noise, then when i play it back there's a hiss)
I've checked Youtube and there's only 1 video demonstrates this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pePAqjgugHM
Now is this a fault with the phone or can I fix it? Just wanted to ask before I send it back to Samsung.
The white noise (hissing sound) comes from a plastic piece inside the phone that is over the microphone. Removing it removes the white noise. You cannot do this without voiding the warranty, so bringing it down to the service center would be a good idea.
The plastic piece over the mic is like cupping your ears with your hands. HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Now that I am on Android 2.3.4, recording video using an external microphone works. I used your headphone mic and I got rid of the distortion. Has anyone tried the Brando Mini Capsule Microphone (or any other mini microphone) on their SII?
Is there any hack or mod, if not can anybody make that.
Like when im watching movies or playing games the sound to come up from the front.
bump

If you're asking to use the front speaker as a speakerphone or external speaker then no. That might be possible but would ruin the speaker. It's not designed to produce loud sound only the volume you hear when on a call.
I dont think the front speaker will be ruined
Unless I'm mistaken, there is no front speaker on the Galaxy S3. What you're asking for is impossible.
*edit* I understand now - you're basically asking whether you can use the speaker that you use when on-call (i.e. the earpiece speaker) as a loudspeaker? Not a good idea. It's going to be a tiny driver, so you'll wreck it at any decent volume. It'll also sound like sh!t.

True, true, true and true.
You won't gain anything from it, and trying to "overdrive" that little speaker might ruin for good.
Can't you use headphones? Not only they give you some privacy, but they also sound a lot better than any output the built-in speaker can give you.
Earpiece.

Wrong. Bumping is allowed if you don't do it more than once every 24 hours.
I was standing 4 feet from the loud speakers when I filmed this, my ears were hurting... Can't believe how well the bass was retained and there's no "flapping" sound.. Just amazing...
video
Without a question Lumia has the best/effective Microphone i have used
There is no doubt in my mind; this is the BEST phone I have ever purchased.

No, it's pretty good for a mobile phone. It was pretty dark in there anyway.
Although it's low
Hi, although the mic is amazing I have to say that the loudness is poor... it's not very sensible.
When you are in a loud environment, it's great but otherwise it seems that you have a pillow constantly covering the mic.
AND still doesn't have stereo...
does it have noise cancelling also?
i was taking calls on it while at a nightclub and other party could still hear me clearly and i could hear them.
thats why i love nokia...solid hardware.

Sound is really awesome and microphones are more than good (there are 3 I think)
Has anyone else had this issue? The right speaker on the z2 always sounds distorted and has a horrible rattle to it? Only thing i can think of is that it might be the water proofing seal vibrating or something.
Anyone?
I occasionally hear a vibrating distortion at certain tones, I often notice it while watching Ashens review videos on YouTube. Deep bassy sounds in voices seems to induce the distortion the most, it as if the voice becomes double and overlaps itself for a moment. Or like a robotic voice is another way to describe it.
Rattle

My Verizon LTE tablet has the distorted right speaker with lots of rattle. Listening to anything quiet (like piano music) is impossibly bad. I really want to keep this tablet but will have to return. Demo unit in Verizon store also has same rattle so the rep says that's just the way it is.
Too bad.
Anybody get resolution or more info on this problem?

My replacement was much better but to get less distortion turn off clear audio and in sound enhancements bring the 400hz down. I have a sony z2 mobile and the speakers are excellent i would assume they are the same kind of speakers. I think possibly the distortion comes from the waterproof sealing protecting the speakers only a guess tho.
1+X Speaker is too QIUET. The 1+1 is louder. Is it like this or is it DEFECT?

Could be a defect - though I haven't got a 1+1 to compare to...
Its just as loud as my htc one m8 though.
Its plenty loud in my opinion. Was slightly disappointed when i realised it was only one speaker on the bottom
Probably a defect. Get a return or refund. The earpiece and speaker both get LOUD.

You can't really compare the two, the OPO has stereo output. The OPX has only the left speaker. Unless you are referring to the ear speaker, then they about the same.
It's not really clear enough to hear especially when I'm outside

It was a Hardware issue or do you solve these issue with Software? Like reset vor fullwipe? I have the same Problem... I can hear my phone-partner but it is verry verry noisy...
Either you really have a hardware defect or a serious problem with your hearing
I nearly get a heart attack every morning when my alarm goes off... and yes, it is THAT loud! -.- I had to reduce the volume of my alarm .mp3 via software to be bearable.
Mine is ok. Slightly above average. Maybe its individual preference
I don't mean the two speakers on the bottom side. I mean the speaker which we use for calling on the top side. Alarm and Musik works great, because it cames Form the two speakers.
It's possible to make stereo sound with earpiece like nexus 5?

OPO is dual-speakers, not stereo output. Although, my OPX still has a louder loudspeaker as my OPO. This is very noticeable in playing games and music.
