Flashable Sprint Visual voicemail for ICS available? - HTC EVO 3D

Only thing I'm really missing, hoping someone has found a way to get it working for ICS.
Thanks
PS. No, I don't want to use Google Voice for this.

F$ck Google voice, I want vvm. If I figure it out, I'll let you know.

I've been with Sprint since the day I got my E4GT on 9/16/2011 and my biggest gripe has been constant problems with their voicemail, regardless of whatever ROM I was running. Did some digging and found out that it's written for them by Smith Micro which has been publishing answering machine apps for years. Unfortunately I am VERY familiar with Smith Micro apps, having tried to use their software with the voice/fax/modems on my desktop PCs. In short, IMHO, Smith Micro software sucks so it's no surprise that it's been a problem with Sprint and Android. I'm praying (seriously) that Sprint has someone else preparing a voicemail app for Ice Cream Sandwich or we all might be moaning about this same thing a year from now.

P.S. As I write this, I am running the FB17 beta of ICS on my Epic 4G Touch and the ONLY major app that keeps crashing on me is .... Visual Voicemail ! If/when i find a voicemail app that works with Sprint in ICS, I will announce it to the world (via XDA and my E4GT review on epinions)

Thank you Moon!

ok....first off thats for the PHOTON 4G... there is no promise that it will work for the evo 3d... and second if you REALLY wanna leave a video message just use the QIK program to send a video message.. save alot of app hassle

Ummm..... OK? Did you bother reading at all first before just trying to get a shot in?
First off it was ripped from an Official Sprint ICS ROM from the *Samsung Epic touch 4g, and isn't Device specific.
Second, this isn't for Video Messaging, it's for the Sprint VISUAL* VOICE MAIL.

Mentioning QIK, which is an app to have a LIVE video conversation, has nothing at all to do with Visual Voice Mail. Visual vmail allows you to see (visually see) a vmail with pause, fast forward and rewind options right on the screen.
I didn't shoot from the hip as you did by mentioning OoVoo, another Video calling app, again which has nothing to do with the topic of this thread.

Wtf are talking about not quoting correctly? I had put an asterisk (*) to highlight my responses to your specific arguments, before "Samsung" to show you that it wasn't Device or Manufacturer specific, and an asterisk between "Visual VoiceMail" to highlight my clarification for your confusion on this topic.
And ACTUALLY... You're still talking about something completely different than the topic of this discussion. I'm sure you can send Video messages using QIK, OOVOO, SKYPE or any other Video calling applications, but you cannot RECEIVE YOUR SPRINT VOICEMAILS FROM MISSED PHONE (PHONE) "PHONE" [PHONE] CALLS, PLAY THEM, SKIP FORWARD/BACK TO REPLAY AND CALL BACK THE PHONE NUMBER.

Flame ON!
Can we just agree that you two are discussing two entirely different systems here?
Thank you for the Visual Voicemail workaround, BTW
OOVOO, QIK, SKYPE and all other video/messaging applications have nothing to do with this particular discussion thread. it concerns the sprint voicemail application that does not seem to work or in many cases is just plain missing if you are using an ICS ROM (Which I am) Thank you again, I ended up installing GV before I saw this thread.

[Q] Android Notifications sent to Touchpad?

Not sure if this has been asked yet, searching didn't give me any results anyway - but apologies if its been asked.
HP Touchpad + HP Pre3 connect and the tablet can be used to read text messages etc along with a few other features
So, I was wondering if anyone has fiddled with trying to get Android to connect to WebOS for SMS/Missed call alerts?
closest thing I can think of right now would be using Phone Portal to connect your Motorola device. It uses WiFi and the browser.
Wish there was a way to do that.
Have you tried DeskSMS? It sends your SMS's to your Gmail.
Might be any good?

Nice one! I think that could be a viable option until someone figures out how to either make an app for android/webos to do it, or something more advanced.
I was just about to post this, theoretically it shouldn't be impossible to achieve although I'm far from an expert in the area (read: not an expert at all). I'd happily donate to any developers which could create a patch for it, as I'm sure would many other touchpad owners.

Yep, I'm expecting a bluetooth app for it.
Must admit i'm annoyed with how restricted the feature is - i mean the car, tv, and pc can all get text alerts from the phone. (Actually that's a lie, the car stopped getting text messages when i went to android)
So i'm sure its doable, its just a matter of getting a dev interested in doing it - unfortunately I wouldn't know where to start.

[Q] Where is voice talk?

Hello,
I just purchased a Galaxy S II, model SHW-M250S. However, I do not think it came with the voice talk software. Does anyone know why that would be? Any way to add it to the phone (other than vlingo from the app store) I have been trying to figure it out online for a little bit now so I am posing the question to those with a lot more knowledge about phones than myself. Thank you.
You mean a voice command application? Vlingo is the closest you can get right now.
Yes voice commands. I thought the GS2 came with a "voice talk" application preloaded. In videos I have seen users just click applications and it is right but my phone lacks this.
There are three, voice talk, voice command, and voice search. Not sure what are the difference among them as they all seem to do more or less the same thing.
Sent from my phone via tap tap tap
Hmm, well I have the voice search but it just searches google. It won't open apps or let me dictate messages or anything.
You are right, I got them confused, voice search does google, but the other two more or less do the same thing. They should all be in your app drawer.
I don't think they are I wonder how it got left off the phone? Kinda disappointing. Too expensive of a phone to be missing stuff imo.
I have been searching high and low for an APK that has those, but I have not come up with anything so far... lost it when I flashed a complete WIPE custom rom... I'll be ever so thankful if anybody uploads or directs me to said APK...

Dailer & Contacts on ICS 4.0.3 issue

Search is disabled, google didn't help, but you just might ...
I got a new SGSII through an unwanted upgrade, have stock rooted ICS 4.0.3 and found that keypad, logs, favourites are under one app 'Phone', and groups, contacts and favourites under another 'Contacts'.
An old SGSII running an older version of Litening rom my friends has, got the keypad, logs, contacts, favourites and groups all in one place.
I can't seem to change this/merge them, were the merged dailer/contacts part of the previous rom? Previous touch wiz version? Or am I being dumb and not finding the setting to have them in the same screen?
Thanks for any pointers/mocking/gtfo's etc in advance

Mate, your sarcasm meter is faulty, send it off for repairs, and while your at it get treatment for those saddle sores.
And you want to raise the question know how hard/tiring one more click per use is, and you are who exactly? how heroically pedantic. Do I tell you how the way you do things are wrong?
After you have used it in a car dock extensively, I'll think you might have half an idea of the implications, until then you obviously don't get what the difference is and just want to jump on the comment about an extra few taps, bravo

God god man, you are thicker than a 2x4 mate. :/
can't you just push the GB phone.apk into sys?
You could always install a 3rd party app like Go Contacts which comes with a dialer and have it all intergrated once again.

Thanks Aikje and Bored Stupid, proper contributions and advice
To be honest, I already had ExDialer and Contacts by the time the good Sun90 let me know it's the lay of the land with ICS. Have had a quick look at others too.
With A N Other dialers I've tried so far, you have to tap a different end of the phone, which still takes your attention away for half a second, which when crossing the A406 to get to the A1 isn't really the one, actually, anywhere in central London to be fair.
It's purely for this reason, it's the 'no look' control on the old dialer I'm after again, as I'm on the blower a lot, so am obviously evaluating other options as there could be better out there, I've only just updated to ICS so contrary to a certain peevish belief, I asked a question on a q&a forum to point me in the right direction, as the better members here of XDA know how to *cough* soap box *cough* hahahaa
Regarding the pushing of the Phone.apk, was going to be trying that tonight after backing up, it came from a custom rom and my knowledge of these things is a bit dry, so will find out if it plays nice later.
Again, thanks for the info guys
Good luck, I thought the "Black infinitum" rom(or something like that) had the combined dialer&contacts, and that is 4.0.3...
I'll try it this afternoon and give some feedback okay?
EDIT: doesn't work...
another ics tryout

Caller ID Faker

I used this site for a while now but just realized they have an app which works just as good as the site. Unlimited free calls but the calls only last two minutes without a paid account. Two minutes is more than enough time to disguise your number on a call or to prank someone. It also lets you change your voice just like on the site. It will also record your calls so you can post your pranks to Facebook.
Someone has too much free tiime on their hands. lol

Baffled by Hangouts

I am completely blown away with how terrible hangouts is. Other than aesthetics, the app is horrible.
1. No clean buddy list for GTalk friends. This one blows my mind. There is also not a separate list for phone contacts, which again, numbs my brain.
2. Much like the "most contacted" feature in gmail (I use the term "feature" sarcastically) you cannot change who is on your top list, nor do you have an option to hide it. You cant even erase who is listed there. This is absolutely garbage and needs to be removed.
FIXES:
1. Obviously, make a GTalk buddy list view.
2. Remove the "most contacted" area of hangouts. Stop being presumptuous and putting an ex-girlfriend on my most contacted list, who is no longer even in my phone or contacts list on Google...

What happened to voice call?
In google talk you could voice call someone without the video feature running concurrently. Do you always have to video chat with someone in order to communicate via audio? Am I missing something here. The voice only feature in Talk seemed to work a lot better especially with slow connections. How can I download the old Google Talk(last version) without have to do an OS reinstall on my phone and tablet? It really sucks that Google removed Talk from my devices under the guise of upgrading the program.

Hahaha, this. So much this.
To be fair, it's not just Google that does this sort of thing, the Windows 8 People Hub is even worse. Interesting that communication applications that allegedly put the user first don't make allowances for a tragically common component of regular human interaction - the break-up.
