Will we ever awe the touch cwm recovery on our phones? Or can only the devs from clock work make one for vibrant specifically
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
Kush Dutta is the dev/owner of CWM and we've really never have ''officially" supported so I doubt it. But I'm sure one of your devs. will come out with something for us soon or ported from i9000 roms hang tight like me.

So, I was looking around the portal, when i came across a story on the new 4EXT touch recovery for the sensation. My wife has a sensation, so of course, being the flash happy junky that I am, i gave it a go. Well, I must say, this recovery is great. Im by no means a dev, but, is there any devs out there that would be able to port this over for us i777 users? I'd be happy to test and offer any type of help i can to make this happen.
would it even be possible?? Anyone?
What makes it so great? I've used it before on my Inspire and didn't think CWM or 4Ext recovery was any better than the other.

I like that its touchscreen, and I LOVE that it displays the battery level. But I also just think the UI is a lil nicer, not to mention the double spacing makes it a bit easier to read. Dont get me wrong, i love CWM, i'd be lost without it, but it would be nice to have some other options.

It was a lot better honestly, it was more feature packed. It's one of he things I miss about my inspire actually, but it isn't important enough to make me choose my inspire

GalaxyS2--I777--ICS'ed Out! 7.1
4EXT Recovery Non-Touch is far....far.. better than CWM in any comparison.
You can't compare Touch 4EXT recovery with anything else.
I miss it as I changed from Incredible S to Galaxy S II
is there a specific reason that it cannot be ported to the gs 2??

Seems to be for HTC devices only.
Ask the developer if he will add our phone to his project

he also replied to my PM and the message was the same in different words!! So happy we'll be seeing this.... Although he did mention that there were a couple of other devices ahead of ours because they asked first so its a first come first serve type of deal... Im psyched for 4EXT touch!!!!
yea it was really really nice wish we have it on this the best i have use so far
You realize I assume that this thread has been dead for over a year...
And we never saw this...

Anyone out there wanna have a go at making a tocuh enabled CWM for our device?
Saw this article and thought it'd be pretty cool!
I don't really think we need that. This is good for phones the don't have physical buttons like the newest Nexus or for tablets.
I agree with Dragonnn it would be cool to have touch enabled Recovery but it is actually no good for devices like our Ace.
DUDE. There might be problems with the touch enabled CWM such as accidental press. So, our current one is better.

If cm9 is on the touch pad which uses the snapdragon just as we do, and we have a ics leak why can't we have cm9 yet? I know when I had my epic 4g touch like a day after the samsung ics leak dropped someone built a cm9 rom... Please don't flame. I'm mearely asking a question in the q & a thread... Thanks!

I'm guessing it's the lack of kernel source.
But they don't have kernel source for ics on the epic 4g touch either... They built a tweaked Gingerbread kernel to run cm9. And I couldn't tell a difference it ran a amazingly

If you scroll down to the news section it says they're still working on getting a working kernel source... The only problem I had seen from not having one was no over clicking or what not.

It is going to be awsome when there is CM9+spen support for the Note.

So no guessesbon why we don't have one?

I was thinking that it was the lack of kernel source, but I don't know based on the modified GB kernel post. CM9 would be awesome though. I like to keep things as stock and clean as possible. I don't even put aftermarket parts on my car LOL.

you know what devs we need here , the devs from the htc leo/hd2 that took a windows mobile phone and turned it into a development phone that could run any 5 OS like a champ, I had CM9 on my hd2 for 2 months before I got my Note and I ran AOSP ICS prior to that for a month and it's smooth as hell. We never had any kind of actual source for anything for it, actually devs were porting everything from the nexus one/nexus s/sensation/evo/incredible/desire hd and made it work , hacking all kinds of kernels , so yeah there were issues when a new port would come out like camera not working(most common issue) but never the less it always came around, now our biggest downfall is the fact that samsung decided to use two different processors with the two versions of the note, if they only would have used the same processor it would have definitely be a different ball game, it would be one forum and all the devs for the n7000 and the i717 would be working together and we would be using cm9 from the great dev imilka from the hd2 forum.
Agreed. I wish I knew how to dev. On the original evo we had great devs also... These devs just rather sit around and wait for the easy way I guess. Idk.

QFT!!!!!
I just stated my opinion ... Oh well!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
well I'm no dev but I'm working at trying to make the necessary changes and hopefully get imilka's cm9 booting up in our notes, but I'm confident that with the help from imilka I can get it to boot and hopefully have a working cm9 soon.

Please keep that attitude to yourself, so as to not annoy the devs who do things for everyone, INCLUDING YOU for ....

Just hoping that maybe amonra would be ported over to the dna. Twrp has too many issues and not as powerful as twrp....cwm just wont make backups properly...amon ra was always a solid recovery for me since tbolt and rezound days...

That would be awesome but I don't see it happening. I made a custom Amon RA for the Evo 4G and it was a lot of fun. Amon RA himself is done with working on Android recoveries and the code base is pretty dated now. He built on cupcake up through froyo. drellisdee brought it up to gingerbread and that's what I used too. It would be a lot of work to bring it up to date for the new devices. It'd be cool to figure out an Amon RA XML theme for TWRP though at least for memories sake.
Loved that recovery.

I remember that on my Evo 4G. It was good but i did notice that it stopped about there when twrp came out
The Rezound has it and it has ICS.
A port should be possible I'd assume.

Yes but the Rebound released with gingerbread right? The Evo has jelly bean now thanks to Evervolv and preludedrew, but amon ra is still built in gingerbread source trees separate from the ROMs.
It's definitely possible if someone capable took it on.

wish somebody would bring back amon ra!!!!

I think it's a safe educated guess that whatever person came up with Ammon-Ra was a liberal with no respect for Christians and the Bible which forbids using of the name of false gods for a reason other than to point out or imply that they are false. Liberals. It's really not money-wise to ignore such a large group.

Hello xda members this is to mostly to developers. Is there any way to get a ubuntu touch port on oir vibrants. It shouldnt be that hard for some more experianced developers to do. The captivate and i9000 have ports so that might help with porting to the vibrant right? Ill help with testing the builds as i have 2 vibrants i just dont know how to build the kernel specofic things for it.
