Does anyone else have this happen? Like if I go to swipe it away and stutter my finger it will freeze where it is and my pulldown will lock up. Or after about 3 days uptime, when I push a notification it just stays blue and then the pulldown freezes.
Thanks in advance.

I have had the toggles/notifications lock up but not the actual pulldown. I went to swipe away an email today and it froze in mid-slide, and all of the toggles stopped working.
Have not had any issues with it except using the flashlight and then let the screen fall asleep. But that happened to me on eclipse also it would fall asleep and require a battery pull to get anything to work.

I've had that issue. I find that simply hitting the home button clears it away. Once I pull down the notification bar again, I can swipe away the notifications without a problem. I've never had to pull the battery for that issue, but that is also an option should the whole phone freeze up.
As for an actual fix to prevent it from happening again, I do not know of one.
The worst part about it is I have to reboot to make it work again and then I lose my ADW settings, which is a pain in the ass.

Yes I have it happens when you partially swipe a notification away for me. workaround is to re-apply the theme using theme chooser, avoids having to reboot.

I only had this happen once and it just would not nostrils me select the notification. Everything g else worked. Pulldown and what not. Reboot fixed and has not happened again

Had this happen once, during the middle of a phone call. Not a good time since I was trying to do multiple things on the phone at the time, muting, unmuting looking at email etc.
The dismissal swipe somehow hung half way across my screen. Couldn't click on any other notice or finish swiping. It was like the program that controls the notification bar hiccuped or something.
No theme's or anything applied in my world. A reboot was required to get it set back to normal.

I'm not 100% sure what it's for, however I've noticed that it appears everytime I turn 'Notification' off in the drop down drawer, it may just be a notification to tell you that you've turned notifications off..
I have the same problem...how do I re enable notifications?
Ps nevermind I'm being a noob ...duh drop down button lol

I had that icon come up when I was roaming. sorry can't remember exactly what I did to get rid of it...
**EDIT***
just remembered! It was when I turned notifications off. Try switching Notifications back on. should fix it.
From the Drop Down, Choose Notification
-slide down the status bar
-find the notification toggle
-be sure it is activated (toggle should be green)
-done!
I too had your problem, I thought I could upgrade my phone lol sadly I was mistaken.
I do think that the icon could have been of a better design and as such more understandable.

so i'm a hancent fan... i like the lockscreen pop up messages for new incoming text messages. i usually reply from them as well.
when doing that on the inc4g i've noticed the notification led continues to blink at me like i have an unread message. i'm assuming i can turn off the led notification completely in handcent (i do not want to do that)... or wait for the handcent devs to fix this?
I use handcent as well. I do not have that issue. Did you turn off all notifications in the stock app? Uncheck them before unchecking notifications

I don't think it's a Handcent issue. I use GoSMS and I'm seeing the same issue, although it seems to be sporadic.
All notifications from the stock messaging app are turned off.

I've notified it doing it sometimes with Chomp too. Pulling the notification bar down turns off the LED for me.
yes, opening the notification bar clears it - which defeats the time savings of replying from the popup on the lock screen
i also have turned off the stock notifications.
thanks - at least it's nice to see i'm not the only one with this issue...
speaking of notification bar - on my old inc i always hit the menu button, then notification instead of dragging the bar down from the top of the screen. does anyone know of a way to make a shortcut or something on the inc4g? only way i can find to open the notification bar is to actually drag it from the top of the screen.... is there any other way?
It's included in Viper Rom, but you'll need root to change that.
notifications waking up the screen are killing me.. if my phones in my pocket and the screen wakes up, then every step i take, my thigh hits the screen and keeps it awake for hours till i check the phone or it dies first..
sometimes when i get certain notifications, such as low battery, it keeps the screen on indefinitely (ironicly battery warning is a huge battery killer lol..), so does charger connected/disconnected.
anyways there's my rant, my question is,
; has anybody come across a way to stop the screen from turning on when getting a notification? it already lights up, vibrates, has a smart reminder option, and a led indicator, I'd really love to stop the screen from lighting up.
ill give 'Thanks' to anyone throwing out suggestions

are you talking about the sms app? use a custom one
SMS app is one culprit, so is email, Google talk, battery notifications, LINE messager, and a zillion other 3rd party apps.. itd be much more realistic to find a lock screen off solution, or remove the service that lets apps lightup the screen

Easy fix, get SMS popup app, go into the stock SMS app and disable notifications, now go into the SMS popup app and in notifications , click and enable notifications. Now go into additional settings and unchecked screen on for pop-up . That's it, you'll get notifications without the screen turning on.

Soraxd,
What lock screen do you use?
I have a good workaround, but it involves using WidgetLocker lock screen which is hands down the most killer optioned lock screen around.
Let me know if your interested.

i am interested, ? actually purchased widget locker in the past. it just seems to unlock slower than stock lockscreen, so i stopped using it when i got my s3. what's the option?
in the mean time ill try the SMS app and report back

soraxd,
Workaround...works pretty much flawless on my S3 with ICS.
Install Widget Locker. You mentioned that it was not as fast as your stock lock screen. On my old retired HD2 and my 6 month old S3, W.L. is actually faster than stock. The key thing is that you have the settings maximized...which include disabling the stock lockscreen from withing ICS/JB settings. (I can give you more info if it runs slow for you) I just set my wife's new S3 with the same configuration and it works perfect. I can unlock and relock W.L. pretty darn quickly...no delays at all.
Then in W.L., I use a simple Iphone style unlock to slide and have that at the bottom of my W.L. screen so my thumb can easily reach. I have many widgets on the screen. (agenda/last caller/clock etc) Then I use a free app named Invisible Lock Widget. You drop this widget into W.L., and you LAYER IT OVER all other widgets except the slide to unlock. (This is one of W.L.'s coolest features)
First off, W.L. should be set for 10secs time out...so less chance of your leg re-triggering it in the first place. 2nd thing, when your leg triggers the screen because it has turned on due to a notification or what-have-you, then Invisible Lock Widget actually re-locks the screen. It's that simple. Sometimes I press the menu button to turn my screen on to look at the time, and 2secs later I click the screen and it quickly and easily turns off thanks to I.L.W. Once you get used to it, you will find it is very convenient and efficient. Like I said, it's a work around and also has other benefits.
Widget locker can be set to suppress the "power button long press menu" if it gets triggered in your pocket. It cannot suppress the "low battery" warning popups that show up above W.L. but the dev might be adding that. (I requested it) I have a Tasker workaround for that. If your running Tasker, I will share that with you. It works like a charm. With all these little workarounds, I no longer do the "Pocket Launch thing".
Rooted running various ROMs and this keeps popping up. I have my "home" lockscreen set to cLock. As soon as I get any type of notification, lock the phone then go to unlock it this one appears to the right of the home lockscreen. Wouldn't be so annoying, except for the fact that it shows up as if it were the home lockscreen and I have to swipe to the left to get to the real home lockscreen.
I've noticed this on Hyperdrive and BoneStock, so I know it's not a ROM issue. If I restart, it goes back to normal up until I get another notification. I can't edit or remove it. Driving me nuts...

If you expand the widget screen by swiping down on your widget, that's the "minimized" unlock challenge. With your cLock widget on screen, try swiping down on it, and you'll see the same thing at the bottom. If you swipe back up from it, the widget is back to normal, non-expanded size, and the challenge ring will come back to normal.
...at least that's what I'm seeing.

I should have clarified. That widget looks the same wether minimized or expanded. I know what you're saying though, the cLock widget just shows me time and weather and when I expand it I get my calendar. Whatever this widget is it shows nothing but the time and date regardless of expanded or minimized. It shouldn't bug me this badly, but it's seriously driving me crazy. I get my lockscreen setup with a cool widget and as soon as I get a text or email I get this tiny little thing that doesn't show anything useful.

Pretty sure that is the KeyguardWidget that would normally show if you had a new message or missed call or something. I would delete it and it will default to the default clock widget.

This can be achieved on a TW ROM by going to settings, lockscreen, widgets, clock size and choose small.

Nice, thanks
Just a quick update in case someone else is searching for a fix. Adjusting the lock screen widgets from settings did not work for me (on JellyBeans B6). Renaming KeyguardWidget.apk to KeyguardWidget.apk.old in /system/apps did work though. Thanks again for everyone's help!
