Does this phone have the equivilant of LG's 'Smartshare' ? - HTC EVO 3D

I currently have an LG Optimus 2X, and to be honest I really like the phone, even in stock form. It has some annoying issues, like slow downs sometimes, but I'm sure every phone has these things.
One of the things I like about it, is an application called 'Smartshare'. This allows you VERY simply to select a network attached source (over wifi), and the destination (the phone basically), and play music, video, photo's etc.
Does the EVO 3D have this ability?

Don't you mean DLNA? On my HTC it's called something like "media share/link".

After reading a LG Optimus 2X review, it does say ".. Smart Share... which is basically a DLNA Client..."
So, yes... I guess I mean a DLNA client. Does it perform in this manner (I'm new to these terms as I've come from a winmo TG01).

Really don't know, justbought this phone 2 days ago and this is one of the features which I didn't try.
Will give it a demo tonight, I'll let you know.

Yes please This would definately be another reason to buy this phone for me

Yes, There is Connected media where you can browse the pictures, videos, and music on your device and send it over WiFi via DLNA connected device. Or there is Media Share that turns your phone into a DLNA Media Server. I use mostly the Connected Media, but both work fine.

Wow. Excellent :-D
OK.. Now it's a toughy, do I just keep the O2X and get the EVO 3D as well? lol.

Use HDMI and DLNA to mirror movies without cable

I was curious to find out how the hdmi works with our phones so when I went to the sprint store the get my defender case swapped out for a commuter case, I asked about it. Basically DLNA(Digital Living Network Alliance) allows for a person to easily share their videos, music, and photos. I never knew our phones had this feature, so I download the "Double Twist" player app(its free) and "Air Sync" (its not free, you can figure out which way you want to get it) and when you open double twist, go to settings>air twist & air play and check the box next to it. Now if you have an internet cable tv, xbox 360, or ps3, you can stream and mirror your movies on their with NOOOO LAG!!!!!! You can also view your pics and stream your music as well. I love this feature. I thought I'd share.
Doesn't the phones "Media Share" application do the same thing?
Or are these programs better than that?

However, as of right now we are limited to formats that the hardware support. Hopefully RockPlayer or Vplayer will include this ability so that any movie format can be streamed.
Is it possible to mirror what is on the device using DLNA and Media Share? If so, how can it be done?

It's just a preference. With double twist you use it as a media player also on the go. Being able to share media is a big plus and that's what matters.
Sorry if I was unclear. What I mean by "what's on the device" is complete mirroring. (being able to see everything that is being done on the device)
I would like to be able to do that over some sort of wireless connection to my TV.

The EVO3D does do full mirroring.
Maybe not over DLNA but it does over HDMI.

Really?!?! You just made my day.
If you don't have an Evo 3D, well you don't have an Evo 3D.
DLNA doesn't give mirroring. Think of it more like turning your phone into a media server. It doesn't play the media on the server, but rather is just a host so your other devices can stream the media to them.
I've used DLNA already quite a bit through my ASUS O!Play HD2. There is a little bit of delay in starting the media, but everything streams smooth once it starts.
Anyone know how to do this with a Samsung TV with All Share? I spent some time last night but couldn't get it to work. My TV can't see my phone and vice versa. But my laptop can see my phone and play its content.
Anyone know if this is possible using a Wii?

Yes, I had a Samsung led 3D, swapped it for an LG passive 3D. Go into the media share app while connected to WiFi and check the box to share your media. Check music, pics, and videos. Now go to "set shared folders" and pick the folders off your EVO 3D you want to share. While on all share on the t.v. while connected to.the same network it will find your phone. If not, don't use the all share app on t.v. just go to the media play app and it will be there. Or. On phone go to connected devices app, choose the media you want to share and then your t.v. and it will play if its supported content.

Evo 3D DLNA to XBox

I understand the "Connected Media" app lets you play video from your phone to DLNA-compatible devices. I also learned that the Xbox 360 should be DLAN compatible.
I spent some time fiddling with it but I couldn't get Connected Media to show my Xbox -or- get my phone to show up on the xbox. I'm a little unclear on how this is supposed to work. Has anyone done this? Would you mind giving me a step by step? Is there something I need to enable on the xbox end or something else I may have missed?
Thanks
Use the media share app, not connectededoa app. I use it on my xbox everyday. Both phone and xbox.must be connected to same network. On media share app, check the share button then select which folders from your SD card to share on your xbox. It will work, if not, must be some firewall issues on your home network.

Just take your EVO3D, plug it up through usb, select disk drive from the notification bar then you could listen to music & watch videos without any app.
My ''xDU4L C0R3 SH00T3Rx'' shot you down in 3D!
Thank you both for your suggestions - the media share app works great and I'll try out the USB share thing.
One thing, the media share app doesn't show all the directories (such as DCIM) as available to share. Anyone else have this issue?

Hi,
My eve 3d can detect my TV just fine but i can't seem to get it to find the xbox360. Is there anything that i need to do on the 360 to enable DLNA besides being on the same wifi? The media share app you're talking about is IMS correct?
Thank you
I have the same issue. My phone finds my Sony Bravia TV and can send media to it, but does not find my PS3. I used the media server. Worked wonderfully. Although I'm sure with some quick searching I could find the answer. Just wanted to say I experience the same thing.

[Q] Getting 1080P movies to PS3?

Hello. Just bought my third HTC phone and I am very happy with it. The 1080P video sounds especially appealing. I saw there was an HDMI adapter which I mentioned to the sales guy and he said that his girlfriend had one(of the phones) and their TV (which has wifi) automatically picked it up. If I am going to take good HD videos it would be great to send them over wifi to my PS3 (preferably) or my computer with a media server on it to watch them easily. I have heard of an app called awesome drop but everything I have seen is getting media ONTO the phone, not off. I know I could just USB to my computer (and maybe even ps3?) but since it can be on my wifi network it would seem there was some way to easily just push the video wirelessly to watch. I know this isn't specific to the Amaze so if you think I will get better answers I can move to a more general Android area. Thanks always XDA.
Also in the same vein is there some app to just directly move any files freely between the phone and my computer (and maybe even ps3?) over wifi? TY

I use iMediaShare Premium to stream videos stored on my device to my XBox 360. I can also stream Youtube and several other services as well. All connect via wifi.
There's a program called PS3 Media Server that is awesome. I haven't yet tried streaming amaze videos, but I will tonight. THis app is very light weight and streams really well. I have yet to have any problems, but I've only streamed some relatively low bandwidth 4:3 video over wireless.
I stream video to my Xbox 360 using an app called Twonky, It's in the Android Market, nice and easy. Let me know if it works for you.

Motocast

OK, I looked and I looked, I found a few threads on Motocast for Xoom and another device..........Has anyone used this on the Photon with a PC and what do you think?
Here is my delima. I used to have everything in folders on my PC, then I would drag-&-drop them to my SDHC Card, over time create some playlist, listen at pleasure, add some more.............
I just got new Gaming Desktop with 1.5TB HD and2.0TB Photom USB Drive. I listen to all types of music............Long story short, I have over 100Gb of music and videos I have on these. Putting my music and videos on Photon will never work. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I want to create playlist on PC and use Motocast to listen to music.
I have Windows7, so I put everything into C:\users\davidksims\music (videos, pictures, documents, etc. ). The only videos that show up are the one that were on the phone originally, not the ones I moved. Same with the pictures. When I attempt to open music in Motocast on my PC I get connection error.
I like the though that I can access ALL of my media content anywhere, anytime. I know I'm not normal (I have over 18,000 songs, 5000 pictures, and currently 15 HD Videos) but if this works.............
I could move EVERYTHING to External USB, then only move the media I actually currently listen to over to Desktop and assign to playlist to save on the phone, but that takes away from purpose of Motocast?
Any ideas will be appreciated.
EDIT: I forgot, after I loaded all my music and crap. I opened Media Player and ran update library. That should run until Christmas!!! 24 hours later and I'm at 8% update!
133 views and no opinion? Anything is better than nothing, just need an idea please.
Never heard of motocast before but I shall check it out.
According to moto, only the razr supports motocast wireless. The mopho will work in motocast usb only. Razr deving is fairly young at this point but once things pick up over there we may be able to pull the needed files and drop it in custom rom for the mopho. Til then your best bet will be a third party app.

EDIT: I see it now, no wireless.
Have you tried ZumoCast?
Try, Tonido you can stream you mp3&4s right off your Computer.
OK, I got ZumoCast, everything seems to work correctly except music. When I attempt to click music tab, I get:
"An error has occured that prevents the application from running:
Unable to get the property of the value 'Get': Object is null or undefined"
Any suggestions? Oddly, when I tried in MotoCast, I got same error. When I was uploading music, I did notice that some music could not be uploaded because of DRM (Copyright) error? If I get software to clean it up, will that cure it?
Thanks again, guys!
Thoughts on ZumoCast comment?
I read that MotoCast is very buggy for the PHOTON 4G.

In Theory, yes it should! When I installed it, just like Motocast, it took the Windows7 defualts (c:\davidksims\users\music...........or Video, or Documents, whatever), you have the option to change it to........g:\myUSB\music. The only difference I see is, with Motocast, you can select MANY different folders, I did not see that in Zumocast?
Therefore, with Motocast, you can have music all over the place. But why? Organization is the key IMO.
I just wanted to say, I upgraded Motocast, it appears to be working now! (some parts anyway?)

Love you man it works ALMOST like a charm exactly like I want it. My documents, music, videos, pictures all from home at my fingertips anywhere!!
The only 2 issues I have, off/on, sometimes the streaming music hiccups which is annoying. Second, HD videos, streaming, forget it.
BUT..........................................................
Download whatever playlist(s) you want to the phone, good to go. Same with Video!!
@ whoever ask about USB access, yes!!!! In settings (or whenever you install it) you can have it look for, let's say music, in as many folders as you want. It groups them together. For instance I have backups to my 2TB external, I see c:\users\davidksims\music and J:\music. When I get on ZumoCast, you have to pick a place. Now remember, if USB is not on, it will show it but it will be disconnected.
Thanks all!
EDIT: When you open ZumoCast and go to music, it initially takes a minute to see everything. after that your good to go unless you close ZumoCast, then it will do it all over again! Good Luck!
I like Zumocast. Although I haven't used it to listen to music.

It baffles me why Motorola advertise MotoCast (which is unstable and only works on 2 headsets) when they have ZumoCast that is stable and works on almost all devices, and I never heard of it until I started this thread?

Looks good and sounds great, but no documents? (which is just as important as music/video.) I remember back @ 7 years or so ago I had 4Gb SDHC and I was the bomb. I started with 32Gb @ 2 years ago and, technically, I could fit the most common of my files (music, pictures, video, *.PDF's) on my card, but with new technology, why when I can take my entire desktop with me?
I will keep VLC on my list if I get tired of free ZumoCast.

[Q] MyNet feature

Has anyone here tried the "MyNet" feature of the tablet to control a computer through your tablet? How do you like it?
I'd like to take advantage of that for websites which stream video but are not compatible with mobile browsers of any kind. It would probably require being on the same wifi network but either way, pretty neat.
BTW, I love my Prime!! Got the issue with gps signal capture but I got my cell phone to direct me if I'm lost in my car.

The app is called splashtop. I believe there are a couple of threads talking about this application. Just to let you know there is a THD version that is up on the market now that works better and faster then the bundled version though it costs money. I am using it now and can connect to my home computer from work and its super fast. I love it. Use it at work all the time during meetings to connect to my desktop. The bundled version will close the connection on you due to a bug in that version. The THD version does not have this issue.
Just my 3 cents.

actually hes talking about the MyNet app that comes with the prime
its not a desktop mirroring tool it just allows streaming of media (pics videos music) to the prime from a pc
its actually pretty cool in how well it does it but it can stream MKVs though
It also allows the downloading of the files from the pc to the prime...its a nice way of moving files without having to plug in or use a sd card or dropbox
i wish it allowed folder downloading or multiple downloading rather than having to do a single file at a time.
Yeah, the MyNet app is a DLNA app for streaming media between DLNA devices. To me it seemed to be a decent proof of concept app, but I have found three apps that do a better job: 2player, BubbleUPnP, and iMediaShare.
iMediaShare can stream from several internet sources to your DLNA devices, but it's unfortunately still not optimized for tablets. It forces you into portrait mode.
For streaming music from my Prime to my blu-ray/stereo, I typically use BubbleUPnP.

From reading your poast I think that you mean teh My desktop feature in the my cloud app which is splashtop HD remote app which links up with a splashtop streamer app on your PC !! and this does not require you to be on the same wifi connection...I often use it to connect to my pc when away from home to check on email accounts etc
I'm sorry, it is the "mycloud" icon on the screen that I meant. From there you find the "my desktop" option which uses splashtop.
