I tried a kernel/rom flash on Fascinate and it got all screwy so I tried to do a clean factory reset and it freezes on the Samsung screen when I boot. I had a nandroid backup that I made last night and when I try to restore I get the same freeze Samsung screen. Never had a prob before. Getting a little worried. Any ideas?

[Q] Re: Evil Fascination 3.4.2

I got the latest Evil Fascination ROM 3.4.2 but when I try to install using CWM, it gets stuck when trying to boot up. any idea?
I was using Community ROM 1.2 prior to attempting to flash to this ROM.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Did you do a full wipe? (Data/cache/dalvik)
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Yes. I did a wipe of cache partition/dalvik cache and also
did Wipe data/factory reset atleast 3 times each. Still I have the same issue.
Please help.
Thanks
Hmmm.... I would try downloading the ROM again and then trying to flash it. Maybe you got a bad download. If that doesn't work try flashing the newest clockworkmod. Good luck.

I tried re-downloading the file and still the same issue.
Wiped Data/Cache/Dalvik bunch of times and still the same result.
All these resulted in a soft brick . I was unable to restore my prev nandroid backup also.
Fortunately I found the solution to soft brick in another xda thread. Now back to Community ROM.
Not sure what went wrong

When I was first trying to go to evil fascinate, I had an issue with updated kernels. I could not run JT or OTB kernels and ran an older ED01 I had on my phone. This then let the rom complete the setup. After the Rom was setup I could switch to an OTB or JT kernel.
Not sure if this is your case, but just something I observed on my own phone.
This was on Evil Fascinate 3.3 as a note.

Urgent! Please help!

I flashed the ROM(v2.5)-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1440396
a few days earlier using CWM v4.0.0.9
It worked alright for a few days.
Today morning I woke up, my phone was stuck on a boot loop.
Should I just flash a stock ROM through odin??
Resolved: you need to flash on clean stock 2.3.x
i have the same problem a few weeks ago, when i use The End v3 ROM , then i flash my phone with another custom ROM through CWM,, that's it
ps: now i use Ace Of Spades ROM by Trent Turvey
Thanks
Will try it out

I have been through bootloops at least 5-6 times. This has never worked for me. Always had to factory reset to make it work.
To maker of this thread:
Try having Nandroid backup once in a while. And don't worry, this seems to be your first time as you're freaking out too much. Bootloops aren't hard brick. Resetting to factory defaults or restoring Nandroid backups or flashing totally another custom ROM should work.

Where to send Bricked i777 to get fixed? The bad decisions that got me Bricked.

I finally bricked my first phone. Its been a long ride but it caught up to me. I have had three different android phones within about 4 years and have successfully rooted all three myself and have successfully flashed them over and over close to 1000 times between all three phones including modems, kernals, gapps, themes etc. So what gives? Why today? To be honest I don't know. But here is what happened...
The past few days I have been going back and forth between different kernals for this device to try to get something that won't freeze up. ( I liked browsing on this phone but I would get freeze ups and therefore would flash something new to try and resolve it.) Today my phone froze so I tried a simple reboot. The boot then did a freeze on the kernal's "intro" picture. It wasn't a bootloop it just frooze. (I was on XWLPT with Skyfire Kernal). I decided to reboot into recovery and flash a different kernel. I flashed NEAK The flash went halfway then stuck and froze. I rebooted to try to get back to the phone's main screen. This time it would not boot. I couldn't tell if it was in bootloop or was froze. I went back into recovery. Here I should of wiped everything but in the back of my mind I thought I could just do it in odin if I lost recovery. So I tried flashing Siyah for sammy roms. This is when I lost everything. It froze in cmw on the flash again but this time when I tried going back into recovery it stayed on the Galaxy SII screen. So I put the phone in download mode and started Odin up. When trying to flash anything in Odin I got stuck on nand write start! I never heard of this. I thought Odin would work as this is how I rooted the phone when I first got it. Last thing I did was install kies which couldn't even connect to the phone. So all I am left with is download mode and taking way more caution when flashing. I think it may have been a case of the brickbug. Even though I was on a I9100 rom and using "safe" kernels I believe something happened to lock me out from writing anything to the phone.
U already posted this in another thread. I posted a response there for ya

Yeah I know . But its just a front man! They receive the bricked device, then send it to some Chinaman named Finchenzo. And he fixes em all and sends em back to mobile tech! Then you get your device back! Poor Finchenzo

Send it to MobileTechVideo.com. I sent my bricked SG2 in and a week later and at a cost of only $50, it was returned fully functional.
Sent it to MTV. Mobile Tech Video said this...The device's onboard EMMC controller was in a non-responsive state.
I never flashed anything that wasn't specifically made to be flashed for an i777.
Everything I had ever flashed was on the i777 development thread.
My advice ...beware of the brickbug. Also don't flash anything when the phone is hot. This happened when my phone was hot and maybe a reason why it froze while flashing in cwm.
And for a recap... What did you flash right before tie happened and what were you coming from?

Specifically the rom booted fine with Shostock-XWLPT. When using the rom sometimes it would freeze up so I flashed NEAK kernal over it. Froze in cmw during halfway through the flash.Rebooted after about 5 minutes wating for cmw to finish. (it never did) Phone bootlooped. Pressed hardbuttons to get to recovery. Recovery worked went into NEAK cwm. Instead of wiping and starting fresh here decided I would take a shortcut and flashed a Siyah for i777 over that. CWM froze again halfway through flashing the Siyah. After waiting 5 minutes again decided to reboot. Phone bootlooped. No more hardbutton recovery. Phone bricked. I Can still go into download mode but even MTV could not unbrick it. Said EMMC controller was in unresponsive state. Don't know what that means but know its now a paperweight.
Got it back today I still can get into download mode. Odin will recognize phone. When I try to flash a kernal it follows through until right before it actually writes and says NAND Write Start. I believe the internal memory either is filled with bad sectors or someting like brickbug locked anything from writing to EMMC.

Process system isn't responding

Been playing with my phone all day and somehow it crashed/rebooted & now I'm getting "Process system isn't responding"ever time it boots back up. Im rooted and have TWRP recovery...made a backup before all this started. Tried restoring my backup, didnt work, nor did using ODIN to flash a stock file. Full wipes and format data doesn't do any good either...Any suggestions?
I had the same issue this morning and after wiping and odin'ing what seems liked 30 times for 4 hours, I ended up taking it back. BB swapped it out with no questions asked.
The only thing I can think that happened was I tried restoring a backup with TWRP. I thought I read on here that restoring was not a good idea right now.
Looks like I am going to have to return this as well...every time it boots I get that error message and then it reboots itself....Did you do anything to flash back stock status??

Oh yes, many, many times! After I got stuck in a boot loop (or bootup system error), I wiped every partition I could find on the phone using stock TWRP and OUDH recoveries. Than I would odin multiple times using the MI3 tar. The odin process would be successful, but I would get stuck in a boot-loop every time. I'm fairly savvy with Samsung phones as I have rooted all 5 that I've owned but I couldn't figure this one out so I just took it back.

After the successful Odin, have you tried booting into stock recovery and wiping data? That can often fix problems booting up after a restore..

The Sprint store is not going to have the software to restore your phone yet. So they will replace it as they want even be able to tell its rooted...Well unless they go into download mode which i don't see why they would do that right now. .. BUT This is something you can fix yourself. From what i read you only flashed the stock TAR once. Flash it again and see what happens. Pay attention to what you are restoring. The first time i rooted i couldn't make phone calls...I have no idea what cause it. Now i am on Stock but mi3 as i forgot to pull the SD card.. And its not that serious to go to mi5 at this point.
Edit: If stock still dosent work after multiple attempts.... GO ahead and flash stock rooted ROM. In the next week or so everything will be figured. out. There want be any big updates that you miss in the next month. I wouldn't worry about being on stock rooted or stock unrooted. All the same for now.
I've retried several times with the STOCK unrooted tar. No go with that. Just boot loops...
I didn't see where there is a stock rooted ROM. I'll look in the development areas for it. If you have link would you reply with the link?

Soft bricked phone even after factory image flash

Hi all, I am in urgent need of some help...
I got my GS4 when it first came out back in May. It was the VRUAMDK build. I used ODIN and motochopper to get it rooted, eventually got CM going and have been using it ever since.
Today I was playing around flashing different nightlies of CM11. I went to restore from a backup, but it error'd out and said it couldn't restore /data. I rebooted anyway and it hung on the CM logo for about 10 minutes. I tried a wipe/restore again and the same thing happened. I should note that since updating to CWM 6.x.x.x from (I think?) 2.x.x.x I hadn't attempted a restore from backup, but I know that restore worked on CWM 2.
So anyway I went to this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301259
Followed the instructions, similar to when I first rooted my phone, and flashed the 99% factory image with Odin. It "worked" ie no errors but upon reboot my phone hangs on the Verizon logo. It gets through the Samsung boot logo but will just sit at the Verizon logo. Not frozen because the logo is shimmering.
At this point I have no idea what to do. Help?

The same way as when I first got my phone. I Odin'd the pre-release MD2 kernel, used motochopper to grant root access and install SuperSU, Odin'd back to MDK, then downloaded GooManager to install TWRP.
*Odin back MDK kernel... Not full factory image. Just clarifying
