Problem getting Internet Access while traveling - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have not been traveling a lot lately, but went to a Rodeo this past weekend. Stayed at a Comfort Inn, and discovered a problem when attempting to access the internet through their WIFI.
On my laptop, when I connect and open the Browser I am redirected to THEIR "accept the terms" screen, and after accepting the terms I am connected to the internet.
On my GT, I connect to their WIFI, but when I open the Browser it attempts to go to my home Page (Google) and states that the page is not available. The Tablet Browser is not "redirected" to their "accept the terms" page, so I cannot access the internet.
I tried clearing the Cache, and also clearing Data, but when the Browser is opened it still attempts to open the HOME page, which it cannot do since even though connected to their WIFI, there is no internet connection.
What am I missing? Anyone else solved this problem?
Thanks for any help.
George

I want to bump this issue, because I have this problem as well accept on my college network.
After you connect on a PC you get redirected to the college's login page. However much like the OP on my Tab it can connect to the wifi hotspot but then not get redirected to the login page, thus no internet access.
Note: I had no problem connecting then be redirected when I had my original Galaxy Tab with Overcome, but my Tab 10.1 with Overcome fails to connect (same if running stock rom)

BUMP looking for a solution.

wifi issue at school/campus

Just got my Hero recently and I've tried connecting wifi but it doesnt work.
Not that the wifi doesnt work, it does but the thing is, at school, once you're connected to wifi you're supposed to open up a browser and login before internet will work.
So when I'm connected, I try opening a browser but it instantly saids I dont have internet access. I dont know what to do or how to fix this. Has this happened to anyone else?
I did already marked off the "block pop windows" so I dont know what else I can do.
Help anyone?
Try Wefi
That does the job for me. Works on all networks, except my home network

Find someone with a laptop to connect to the Wi-Fi at school
Jot down the URL of the authentication page
Go to that page on your phone's browser
Log in
If that works, bookmark the authentication page and make it your first destination when on the school's Wi-Fi.
thanks guys for your responses.
i'll definitely try out those options you both mentioned.

[Q] No Wifi after Wifi Analyzer...

Hey guys,
I have a problem with my wifi...
Here is the before: Wifi works about 70% of the time, occasionally the connection would be dropped (as in "no network access", it still said it was connected).
Here is what then happened (in that order): Wanted to find a less crowded channel and installed Wifi Analyzer. Quickly decided that Channel 1 would be cool, browsed to the router configuration on the Desktop machine (LAN connection), changed the channel. Back to home on Android (don't remember whether via the home or back button). Into settings to see whether I would have to rescan or whether it would pick up the change of channel itself. It couldn't connect... It scans and attempts to connect, but doesn't
What I tried:
I restarted the Galaxy. Still couldn't connect.
Deleted the connection and re-entered the passphrase. Still couldn't connect.
Uninstalled Wifi Analyzer. Still couldn't connect.
Restarted device again. Still couldn't connect.
(At some point during all this, probably quite early, the Wifi symbol also stopped showing up in the status bar. Doesn't appear no matter whether Wifi is on or off)
Switched back to the channel I came from. To no avail
Switched of encryption on the Wifi. Still to no avail
Any ideas as to what might have happened and, more importantly, how to fix it? As I said the connection itself has never been the most reliable, but this is a different league
Thank you everyone!
Sandro
If you haven't tried it yet, reset your router. That fixes the majority of Wi-Fi issues out there. If that doesn't work, it may be your router itself. Certain routers have more issues with mobile phones than others.
You may want to go to a friends house and try connecting to his router and see if you can troubleshoot and isolate the issue. Either way, best of luck...

Damn you sitecom router!!!
Alright, one thing I hadn't tried until now was to restart the router. That fixed everything including (for whatever reason) the lack of the Wifi symbol!!
So if that is possible feel free to delete this thread! I didn't find the option anywhere...
Sorry for the unjustified disturbance

[SOLVED] Galaxy Ace connected to Wi-Fi but no internet.

Well, the title says pretty much all .. I earlier didn't have this problem.. Then since last night, I came back home and connected my Galaxy Ace to my home wifi, but this time, it wasn't transferring any data.. It would be connected, full signal, but no internet connection.. My browser, gmail, YouTube, PlayStore, nothing would load.. It'd keep saying Connection Error. Retry.
My wifi works properly on the computer and other devices, and my phone used to work perfectly too! Why's it suddenly giving this problem?!
Any solutions!?
SOLVED!
Okay so I figured it out on my own!!
I went to Wifi Settings>> Advanced>> and "Use Static IP"
I then provided my phone with an IP address, gave the DNS servers as mentioned by my Router, and gateway, is ofcourse, the IP adress of the router. NETMASK is Subnet mask ..
Once I filled in them correctly, and as per my router settings, my mobile is now transferring data and I can now access the internet!
Just thought I'd post a reply incase anyone else was facing this problem
No data through laptop hotspot.
I have a similar problem, but with using my laptop as an access point. My Samsung Galaxy Ace had no problem connecting to either my or my wife's laptop access points initially till about a week ago. I use an HP while my wife uses a DELL. We both run Windows 7. But, here's when things started to get strange.
1. The Ace even though connected through my laptop's AP Wi-fi cannot send or receive data after the first few seconds.
2. My wife's Dell XCD35 (ZTE Blade) has no problems.
3. The Ace has no problem connecting to an Android AP or my wife's laptop AP.
I reflash and unrooted my phone and basically brought it back to factory settings but no luck.
Tried using other services for using my laptop as an accesspoint - mhotspot, virtual router and connectify - still no luck.
tried static ip - no luck.
reinstalled the MS Virtual Wi-fi Miniport Adaptop driver - no luck.
Somehow, there is a security setting on the laptop that's preventing my phone from connecting to the internet. I think I maybe connected to the network, but access to the internet is restricted.
There are no other features like MAC address binding or anything like for laptop APs.
It's getting really frustrating now.
Any help would be appreciated.

Set your Internet to "Allow other computers to share this Internet connection". Other ideas would be to check/disable your firewall
Wifi connected but not working
My Galaxy ace plus connects fine to wifi network but cannot browse internet or play store. I am using a free public wifi so i dont know about the static ip address. And this problem was from the starting whn i just bought it. So is there any other solution for this problem or not?
I tried everything... I restarted the modem- no luck. I filled in the blank from the advance wifi setting- no luck

[Q] Issue with the Internet Access via Wi-Fi.

I have purchased a S3 2 days back and i'm not able to access internet through my wi-fi where as my other friends phone can access like Nokia, Htc, etc........
Please help me.
It is unrooted and i have rebooted my router and also my device.
Reply ASAP.
I am having the same problem.
Do you pick up any AP's when you scan?
Yes picks them all up but connection is too weak to work. Have turned off power save in phone settings menu and that works but drains battery.
Yes, it scans all the nearby networks.
it even connects to the AP, and it will show the upload and download sign but when i try to access internet through browser, it shows " Your ADSL is down, please check ADSL is plugged correctly"
Though i can use internet through my PC. .
Not sure if this post is a "troll trap" BUT from my experience
Could not connect to Nokia E7 (with Joikuspot - adhoc / WEP)
But I can connect to ALL other WPA/WPA2 routers at home, work, coffeeshops
I would suggest downloading "Wifi Analyzer" from google play. Then scan and see what you get and try to connect. Also go to local mall / coffeeshop / McDonalds and try to connect to OPEN or CLOSED hotspots.
The phone should NEVER give a message about "ADSL"..
My wifi works on public places but in my home AP its not accessing. :crying::crying:

WiFi disconnecting whatever I open.

Hello, for quite some time I have problem with connecting WiFi to my Android TV. I tried everything, from Android reset, router reset, changing password, WiFi name, changing from DHCP to static IP, installing WiFi apps like Avast WiFi manager and nothing helped. The exact problem is that WiFi is disconnecting only when I open any app. For example, I connect WiFi normally and I check connection on router and router see that Android is connected so everything should be ok. But when I open YouTube, main page is just loading and at one point it says there is no connection, after leaving app WiFi icon that is showing signal strenght shows very low signal, only one dot. After turning WiFi off and on everything is normal again until I open an app. About notifications I am receiving them so that means that TV is successfully connected to internet until I open an app. This is weirdest problem I ever had since I am using Android devices and Internet. My TV have MBX S812 with B.S805 chipset. It have 1GB RAM/8GB ROM with Mali 450 card. Android version is 4.4.2 with kernel version 3.10.33. About recovery mode this Android box don't have it at all. There is reset button but it's not opening recovery mode it just resets Android. Android is not rooted. After reseting Android I can't even sign in to Google Account because when he tries to use WiFi to sign in it say there is no connection. I really don't know what else I can do now. I hope I provided enough info. Sorry for long text and thanks in advance!
