Slower Flash player with .14? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Just wanted to ask you guys if you noticed any difference in your flash player performance since you updated to .14.
It is slower on certain pages for me. For example the VODs on gomtv.net in high quality are very laggy, before they played totally smooth. Could be related to the new tegra3 drivers? Youtube 1080p is still totally fine though... Not sure whats the problem. Do you know some other sites to test flash?
Before you asked i tested all performance settings and uninstalled/reinstalled flash player.

Flash player updated a few days ago. If you on latest version not sure what it could be then. Maybe just that site or network acting kinda funny. Haven't noticed anything different specific to new update though.

Yeah i tested some other pages and streams, everything seems fine except that site. Must be related to that homepage. Sucks, but i'm pretty sure it will be fixed (through prime update, flash update or site update) in the future because i know it can run perfectly smooth (as it was with .11).

Is there any way to disable flash? I just want to test browser results with flash disabled.

Flash was always slow as molasses. Just slow, not slower.

thx for your answers. Its still bugging me though. I tested about 10 streaming sites now, all of them are smooth except gomtv.net. There must be something different because this definately started with the update to .14. Hmmm.

latest ota kernal benchmark

stock unrooted sprint evo 3d, i know some people hate benchmarks. but going from 25 fps in nenamark2 with lots of stuttering to 44+ fps completely smooth does say something. what did they change? plus my standby battery life is insane now, if this has been discussed i apologize. i could not find it
does no one else notice this?
well I'm not running the latest OTA so I have nothing for you.

recommend to have a try. it saves much battery when screen is off
I've been sorta disappointed with the latest OTA actually. I've tried several roms based off it and they all had the same problems: bluetooth audio cuts out, bluetooth song controls lag (like a couple of seconds between the headphone button press and the actual action), slow data that turns itself off when I'm using it, random GUI slowdowns/laggyness and even a random reboot or two (which has never happened to me with ANY other base including ASOP 2.3 and ICS).
I'm running MinkRunny's rom right now, sense 3.5 w/ 3D working. I've never used anything smoother

Odd, if anything I've had the complete opposite experience with my OTA. I'm running the OEM Rooted version of 2.17.651.5 and it's surprisingly faster.

9.4.2.13 broke youtube

The new update broke YouTube again for me. The issue I am having is constant buffering on the YouTube app while using the "hd " setting. Right now I am on .13, before I was on .11 and still had that issue. When I upgraded to .11.1 it fixed the YouTube buffering issue and now that I am on .13 I have that issue again . Gary can this please be addressed.
I can't have the upgrade yet (ww version here .11) and youtube was broken too. Yesterday, Youtube gave me an error every time I opened it. Today, youtube works but slowly, very slowly.
My tf201 is not upgraded so it is not upgrade's fault.
Please, use the search engine before posting
It seemed like on ".11.1" they fixed youtube, not on .11. Now on .13 it seems like youtube is broken again. Also I ran a speed test and i am getting worse speed with .13 then i was using .11.1. I have a 40M connection down. On .11.1 i was getting around 5Mb now i am getting about 3M. My upload speed doesnt seem to be affected because it is getting 5M.
I don't think its the update. My Droid x is having issues aswell. (On same wifi connection) so its probably a YouTube server issue.

This is a YouTube back-end server issue that Google has been working on for two days. It happens on every ICS device I have tried with the stock browser. You will probably see this up and down availability for the next couple of days from YouTube. Any coincidence that it started occurring when they rolled out the last version of Chrome.
Just tried and no issues here runs smooth

I watched a couple of YouTube vids today w/no problems; I did take the 2/8 update. I do think the update affected my battery life though, but I'm giving it a few days to shake itself out.

Yeah, I concur.
From what I've read here and there, it would seem that Google is aware of the issue, and this doesn't necessarily pertain to our latest update on the TFP.
However, that is not to say that I want to quit pointing the finger at ASUS for my issues on this particular piece of hardware.
I think it's just habitual and somewhat human of us to immediately associate all issues with the hardware manufacturer.

I also had issues with youtube flickering and making it difficult to search. I just tried restoring youtube in Titanium and then reinstalled it from Titanium, selecting "App only" instead of "App plus data" and all seems well so far
edit - uninstall then reinstall using titanium
Its not the back end its the way the YouTube app buffers. It buffered correctly in 11.1 but not in the new update. It seems like its not caching. Properly

Can't play flash videos on 3g!

Couldn't find topic with this, so if one exists, sorry and let me know.
So far, unlike sgs2 and regardless of reception and network speed, I am unable to play flash from the browser properly. Video freezes 2 seconds into play while audio keeps playing normally. Netflix app shows the same problem. You tube app does not.
Stream everything fine on wifi. Different roms or modems do not help. Pausing for a while does not help as well cause it does not buffer whole video.
Any confirmation from others, or a clue how to fix this?

Could you please check in your contract if such things like streaming are allowed?
My provider forbids streaming and keeps pushing APN-settings with a trafficshaping (and completely overloaded and unreliable) proxy when hitting a 3GB/month usage
With Fido and 6gb package, streaming and tethering certainly is. And historically on original Internet apn its straight through data pipe, although past few years they started blocking voip and vpn ports.
Sent from my GT-I9300
Crap.! Spoke too soon. Regular apn, same problem.
Sent from my GT-I9300
If possible, please try if the same issue arises when using a VPN.
If they try to trafficshape streaming, that should get rid of it.
Why would it work on sgs2 without problems and without vpn. Same apn, same neighbourhood, all conditions same.
Sent from my GT-I9300
i have same problem.
sometimes video lags audio..while sometimes, video totally freezes but there's still audio.
using stock browser and dolphin hd and streaming from anilinkz.

Are you using the recent XXBLFB firmware?
This seems to have fixed this issue for me (not exhaustively tested though).

i think asu is the signal strength of your network... you can see it in the settings=>about device=>status
try movie2k... i stream movies in there a lot if they have a good copy...

So you steam on wifi (which is no problem for anyone) , or on 3g?
Only workaround i was able to find is restart the phone before streaming.
I don't know if it's memory management, asu level or whatever, I don't care, just annoys the crap out of me.
What's funny is that north American model does not have this issue, but has extremely crappy bluetooth. Keeps disconnecting on its own.

only 3g/HSPA.. i have an unlimited plan.. i think i might have encountered your problem just yesterday.. i was streaming on this site and flash player just stops buffering after 4 minutes... i tried a different movie on the same site but still stops buffering at 4 minutes and flash player just stops... i tried other sites, and everything is normal... really annoyed by this...

This was the only issue that pushed me towards purchasing north American version to try.
Than i found some things amazing and some things sorely lacking on it. So basically it came to this... If theres gonna be fixes... It will be coming first here on i9300...While I would be lucky to have one or max 2 updates on Rogers version.
Have high hopes in jelly bean as well (which will definitely come sooner on this phone than nam version) , not some fantasy, just real observation while flashing my brother in laws galaxy nexus, noticing it uses approximately 100mb of ram less to run, than the ics release on the same phone. The might give is just enough headroom to improve multitasking and not feel lack of ram as much.
Im testing some more things before losing hope of fixing this myself.

jelly bean does not support flash player... that's the biggest reason why others are not going to update... majority of the sites still use flash player for now... the only reason i jumped from iOS to android is because of flash support... now they decided to take it away in jelly bean... very sad...

Problems since BLG8?

So last night I updated my s3 to the latest UK firmware, XXBLG8, And I can't tell if my problems stem from the latest update!
After the update many apps wouldn't open and I'd have to do a battery pull to sort out each individual app that refused to load, everything's fine now, however, my data connectivity seems to have worsened considerably, even with full signal strength and HSPDA nothing will load, the browser shows errors that I'm not connected to the internet and apps such as the Play Store and Speedtest won't connect.
Anyone else experiencing this problem? Would I be able to flash back to an earlier firmware using ODIN? (I'm new to the s3 scene, just jumped ship from a Desire HD and haven't yet fully got my bearings.)
Thanks guys!

only problem i have noticed is that speedtest does no longer work but everything else perfect. Infact my hsdpa connection is much better on this rom. you can easily downgrade your rom back if you wish just follow this excellent guide to flash via odin.

Hmm, I suppose it could be the area I'm in, but it's usually fine where I am. I'll give it another couple of days and test it in other areas to see if the problem persists.
I've upgraded via ODIN before, just wasn't sure if there were restrictions on downgrading etc, I'll give the thread you linked to a good read now, thanks!
Try changing Modem BULF1 for starters .
I find the last two updates modems are very poor .

looks like speedtest.net have changed there site slightly if you goto site with mobile agent set on browser it redirects to the play store to the speedtest app, change browser to desktop as long as you have flash installed all is fine. I believe this has been done site to the up and coming removal of mobile flash

Thanks, I'll give it a go!
So I decided to bust out my Desire HD, I remembered I still have a month left on my old contract before it gets terminated, checked the data connectivity on there and I seem to be having the same issues. Looks like it's a problem with 3 in general rather than it being my s3. Which is good news for my s3!
Must have been pure coincidence that I started having these issues right after upgrading, however, I tried a few new modems and have been getting better signal (no change with the data issues) so at least I've taken something away from the experience
Isn't there an issue with 3 UK branded ROMs experiencing network issues when you flash the unbranded ROM? I think you may need to flash a separate modem, Google it, I may be wrong.
I'm on 3uk running blg8 not had any problems making, receiving calls and texts and my network is fine on both wireless and 3g
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
It seems to be working pretty well this morning on both my s3 and DHD, and Frostfree I'll have to check that out, I've already flashed a few new modems and I'm getting better performance so that might very well be the case!
I'm in Folkestone (south east coast)
I am on BLG6 with Cyanogen Mod 10 latest rom and so far I have great speeds (4-5Mb) on speed test app.
Will try flashing BLG8 when i can find a download link. I just want the modem to flash not a whole rom cos i am loving JB on the SGS3.

VERY slow play store?

I just did a clean flash of CM10.1 on my SGSII. After I booted back up and things started downloading, I noticed that everything was downloading at under 1kb/s. Yes, under one KB per second. Streaming media is fast as ever but this is SO slow. My Nexus 7 and Acer A500 are fine on the Play store but my SGSII is painfully slow. Right now, Facebook says it has 35 minutes to download.
Anyone else having this issue right now? Or should I go back to the CM10.1 thread and continue to get flamed for blaming the ROM?

The Play store is also super slow for me, on both my SG3 and TF300. I haven't updated to the Play store 4.0, so I don't know if that's what's causing it.
Try this play store. It is the 4.0 version.

I'm dealing with the same thing, I just rooted my Sprint Galaxy S3 and now the market is super slow, it's also slow on my rooted Nexus 7, but just fine on my rooted EVO 4G LTE. it's gotten somewhat better overnight..
Here goes again. This time on my Nexus 7.
until the play store updates it will be slow . so allow it to update ( install play services , Google settings , latest version etc) then it will work properly

Yep, things have sped up and acting normally. Updated manually to the new play store, went with the modded black version.

Doing it again on my Nexus 7 and Acer A500. The Play Store is crap lately.
I'm not sure what the problem is, but the Play Store has been incredibly slow for me for days. I have a stock Galaxy S3 and Play Store v4, but it was equally slow on v3 of the store. I ran a speed test and everything is fine with the wifi. I'm downloading a test file at around 1-2 MB/s. When I try to update an app in the store, my download speed appears to be around 150 KB/s. These updates should download in a few seconds and did a while back, but somewhere along the line it has gotten stupidly slow. I have no idea what to do about it. My wife has a Galaxy Axiom with v3 of the store and updates run just as slow on her phone. I've rebooted the phone, and power-cycled the router and modem. The speed of everything else seems to be fine though, it's just the store that is ridiculously slow. Tried clearing the cache too, didn't help.
Mine is off and on with issues. I think it's something to do with the farm of servers your account is on, maybe some issues or something in that server farm or something. I dunno. Just a thought.
Appears to be slow again. So slow I can't even download anything. I'm on an 802.11n connection, running a 75mbit fiber connection to the internet. It's not on my end. Especially because everything else is fast. How do I even report this stuff?
