[Q] With OTA update, will my 3VO still be unlocked? - HTC EVO 3D

First of all, im a huge n00b so please dont get mad at me if this is a stupid question.
I have a 3VO CDMA for Sprint that runs the stock HTC ROM Android 2.3.3 Software Version 1.13.651.7. I got S-OFF on my phone using the Revolutionary tool, and im wondering if it will remain unlocked if i do the OTA upgrade to Software Version 2.17.651.5.
Thank you!

you shouldn't have to take the ota update im pretty sure their is a rom in the dev section.

being S-OFF, in theory, it should stay unlocked, but don't risk it and go grab any of the stock rooted ROMs in the dev section

Don't worry about the ''n00b'' thing. We can tell by your profile, so you should never have to worry about being ridiculed for legitimate question.
You should be ok with your update. But safe bet is to always update through the files we have here. Check out the AIO radio update in the dev section, and grab the Lean ROM. You'll be good to go.

Have you had a look at:

There are some Full RUU file links by xhausx to get the update and keep your hboot version that may be what your looking for:

Quick question on update?

hey I recently just bought a new htc hero rooted on v1.6
Since 1.6 is kinda out of date now so I was planning to update the software via the official site to 2.1 as I dont have the technical experience to flash a rom myself.
But my question is can update via the official installer thingy? or if my phone if rooted do i HAVE to use the rom flashing method?
I just needed to know just in case i completely mess up the phone
Thx.

HTC hasn't released the 2.1 update for the Hero yet,... We hope to get it by the start of next month.
There are however, ports of the leaked CDMA 2.1 update available to try out in the development section.
Once the update has been officially released, I would suggest waiting for a rooted version to be posted here on XDA rather than installing it from HTC themselves as the official update may close access to root in future.
and fwiw: you are on android1.5, not 1.6.

[Q] Htc evo 3d gsm

Hi every one
There is ics for s on?
The official OTA (Over the Air) ICS Update has been released some days before. If you dont modified your phone you should go to settings -> Software Update or something like this. And there should be an update for you. If you have a modified ROM on your phone, you won't be able to download this. Then you need to search the forums for Unlocking/getting S-OFF.
Ok
I want to do but I don't know several things.
Can you tell me exactly what I need to start?
Now my hboot 1.49.0014 and my Rom shawn3d gsm rom 1.4
Do I need to downgrade the hboot. Can u tell me which one?

[Q] I can not update my phone to ICS

I have a HTC AMAZE unbranded, but when i go to the option: config>about>software updates and press check now, the phone show the message:
***no updates available***
ANDROID VERSION: 2.3.4
HTC SENSE VERSION: 3.0
SOFTWARE VERSION: 1.60.707.3
KERNEL VERSION:2.6.35.13-g4a1059e
[email protected]#1
How i make to upgrade my HTC AMAZE to ICS? I would like upgrade with the company version or a other stock version.
What is the best version to this phone?
Thanks!
Well first of all there is has been like 5 other threads started just this week asking the same question "upgrading and unbranded amaze to ICS" so make sure you do a little searching through next time before starting a new thread.
With that said, the only solution at this time for someone to upgrade and unbranded amaze from GB to ICS is the first S-OFF the phone, then superCID it. This will allow you to flash the ICS ruu from any carrier.
So after you s-off and then superCID, you can follow the instructions found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1575550 to flash ICS

Firmware Question

I have a firmware question that I can't seem to find the answer to by searching. I am running arhd 11 on an att HTC one. Should I upgrade the firmware on my phone? Will there be any benefits to this since I am on att and not international? Also how do I go about updating the firmware and does it wipe the device? If I should upgrade, what it's the version I should download? Longtime Samsung user so please excuse the noobness.
If alls running well, then plz avoid ... however, in ARHD thread many AT&T users have updated the firmware without any side-effects
Best to post Q in that thread itself

It is currently not mandatory to flash the new firmware for ARHD, but it does provide a noticeable increase performance depending on the current firmware version you are running, I was running 1.26 on my AT&T m7 and the screen and touch buttons have been much more responsive now that I am running the new 2.24. Flashing the new firmware will also update the baseband, providing you with the latest radio (but performance of this will vary from region to region.
If you go to this link, it will give you some great instructions on the update process.

BTW, you will need to be s-off and change your cid to 11111111. As long as you take your time and follow the directions completely you will be fine. If you do update make sure you flash the firmware TWICE when it says to, and make sure you re-flash your custom recovery because it will get replaced during the updating process. This process will not delete your sd card and you will be able to run your current ARHD, but it is recommended to do a clean install after. And you might as well since 12.0 is out.
hope this helps
I'm getting a failed not allowed error when trying to 'fastboot flash zip'
I successfully have s-off and changed CID but can't get firmware to flash
Edit: not sure what happened but I was able to push the zip successfully. Maybe from adding the path of the file instead of just the zip file? Anyway, it worked.

IF the rom is tweaked right theres no real reason to update the firmware to euro build,Id wait till att variant or the dev variant gets the update and then worry about it.

[Q] Return to Stock Assistance

So my wife just upgraded to a new phone and I am trying to flash her Tbolt back to stock on the latest ICS version. Currently it is running a rooted stock GB rom and we never upgraded to the OTA ICS build when it came out. It has S-Off by the original exploit method (not Rev or HTC Dev). Its been forever since I have had to do anything with this phone and I want to return it to stock so I can sell it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Here is some bootloader info:
MECHA XD ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-1.04.2000 (PG05100000)
MICROP-/
RADIO-1.48.00.0930w_3
eMMC-boot

Thanks!!
Found a Fix
So after alot of relearning about the tbolt, I figured out how to get where I needed to be. Since I didn't see any responses on this thread I figured I would post my findings for any future person that needs similar help.
So basically I followed 2 threads. First the one below which allowed me to flash to a full RUU and get back to stock hboot.
Link Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310014
Then I followed this newer link to flash the latest OTA to ICS without having the phone active on my plan.
Link Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2144326
I followed both these posting to the letter which go the phone back to the latest OTA and stock bootloader. Yes it shows that it has been relocked but who really cares about that when its supported by HTC dev.
Enjoy!!
