[Q] LG Enlighten ROM/Recovery - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've looked and looked, but haven't found anything definitive on recovery image or ROMs for LG enlighten. I have the 2.3.4 version and the root process worked fine, but the whole point was to replace the buggy Verizon stock ROM. Are there any? Is this a "same phone -different name" situation?

Roms
So far no luck, but I've found the best thing to do is Root your LG enlighten. Partition your SD card, then install links2sd. Then you can releave your 180 mb of data space on you internal, and remove unessicary programs, and link your current programs to your partition.
I'll let you know if I find any.

Hi, I have an Enlighten too -- I need to flash the rom but can't find a copy of Android 2.3.4 anywhere - any chance you could provide a link or send me a copy of the rom? I screwed up the phone and really need to flash... Also, how do I do that? This is my first Android so this is a bit of a learning curve, but I pick up quick. Sorry to ask but I have looked EVERYWHERE for a copy of 2.3.4 with no luck. Thanks.

I never found a functional ROM for this phone The 2.3.4 I had was the pre-installed ROM. I really hated that phone. I tried tweaking the ROM it had, but eventually broke the soft buttons. I have a Galaxy S4 now. It's much better, but you still have ROM issues on verizon anyway because of the locked bootloader and various other things.
Sorry, wish I could help!! You can improve the enlighten by using a combination of Titanium Backup and a few other tools to dump the bloatware and tweak the interface. Just be VERY careful what you delete!!

[Q] Please point me in the right ROM direction

Hi all
I have a G2 touch that was stock and got the OTA update to 2.1 (t-mobile). But i decided I wanted root, not for developing just to get rid of a few system apps like stock and peep.
so i followed a few guides read lots of things and ended up having the generic htc rom 1.5 and rooted after making a gold card and downgrading. The problem was the OTA upgrade to 2.1 wouldnt install. (no groans from those that know what they are on about i'm new to this and thought it would upgrade )
as i like 2.1 more i ended up reflashing the stock 1.5 htc rom without having root and the OTA upgrade worked fine.
Now ive played with the generic htc 2.1 i actually prefer the t-mobile rom as it seems to have more in it like g-sensor calibration etc.
ive read several pages on here and other forums and now im just confused as to how to get a rooted version of the t-mobile 2.1 rom.
is it even possible?
if not and i do the full gold card and downgrade procedure again Which ROM will give me rooted 2.1 that is the closest to the t-mobile stock so i can remove the stock apps i want rid of?
sorry if it seems like an obvious question but i really dont get all this kernel, radio flashing, kitchens and all of that stuff i just want a simple rom i can put in and everything works like normal except i have root
thanks for your help

I'm not aware of any T-Mobile 2.1 ROMs, as everyone wants to rid their phone of branding normally.
But... here's the best method for you. Install your old official 1.5 ROM, and then do the OTA update to 2.1. Make sure you install your T-Mobile 1.5 to do this.
Then, go to http://www.villainrom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=110&t=2096 and follow that guide to get a custom recovery image onto your phone. From there, you can use adb to access your handset as root, and add and remove stuff as you please. ADB info is in that guide, and a guide to removing apps is at http://www.villainrom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=862
HTH
PS. This won't give you everyday root, for things like root apps, since your ROM won't itself be rooted. But if you look up "Superuser.apk" and push that to /system/app (you'll learn about pushing etc with adb or googling 'adb push'), along with the su binary, you can give yourself basic root, though it won't be perfect.
If anyone else wants to help out, what you'll need is the 2 superuser files i mentioned, and a modified boot image that has the changed hero.prop (i think it's called that), with ro.secure set to 0 in the ramdisk.
But don't worry about this later stuff unless you need to.
Hi thanks very much for the help
i get the idea right up until the basic root bit, so think i will get that far .....after that you lost me
will i be able to use apps for rooted devices if i just get the basic root working?

Should be able to. Give it a go That last bit wasn't intended for you, more for anyone who tries this in future and wants adb root access.
i've managed to hit another problem....
i'm trying to install the adb drivers and having trouble. i have the normal usb drivers installed and have downloaded the drivers from villanrom (it wont let me post the link sorry)
but when i tell it to install them i get a window pop up saying the driver contains no information for my device.
ive uninstalled the my htc drivers and tried again but i never get an adb device appear.
am i missing something obvious?
im using windows xp and have the hero set to pc sync when connected.
thanks

Hmm OK. I know the issue. Find the driver folder, and use this file as the ini file

I had to hack the file to make it recognise the hero

[Q] Flash ROM in Canada (Rogers)?

Hello,
I am getting a bit confused with all the threads and I really don't want to mess up my phone. I have rooted it and my background is the Xperia X10, on Rogers too. I would like to test out some different ROMs or maybe even the ICS Rom that just came out from the EternityProject team. However, if I understood, there is no way to revert back to stock since we have a locked bootloader. Can anyone could just guide me to threads step by step? I read the tutorial to flash the Arctic Rom, but I am not sure what to do. Is the bootstrap recovery this? If so I guess I can go from there... I was a bit scared since it was saying unofficial. Would it work for Rogers Canada? Most of the things I see are for US or Europe.. Please help me out, would be much appreciated!
I just reread the bootstrap thread.. Having a question regarding this. There is a note stating that you can only access it through Android.. I am guessing I need to reinstall the bootstrap everytime I flash a ROM.. right? Sorry, pretty lost. Thanks for any help! I just feel like it was wayyy easier with my X10..
I came from the X10 on rogers too!, I seems the X10 was way easier to understand and mod. I am so lost with all this motorola stuff too!
Advise
Hey there guys, well I would advise not to flash anything unless you have at least a ClockWork backup of your phone after you rooted and installed the bootstrap recovery. The bootstrap recovery is an .apk file which you install and run from the phone itself not in recovery mode like most other unlocked bootloaders.
I'm holding off myself because there is no full flash file from Rogers as of yet, the closest one is the Brazil Xt910 flash using RDSlite. Still if you flash that if something goes wrong with your tweaking you won't get the CSC files from the Rogers Rom unless I guess you back them up. I'm not quite sure if you can actually pull the csc files from the rogers and port it over but it's worth a try if your daring.
At the moment I'm content with root and backing up the system folders and other partitions just in case something goes wrong, remember to backup your efs as well.
Thx for ur input gdmuscle, makes more sense now. I might risk it once there is a stable Ice Cream Sandwich ROM. I admit for now it is kind of useless to risk that much with the lack of ROM choices. Much appreciated!
And Chriskwan, yea, was much easier with the X10 lol. Good to see some canadians feeling the same way! Btw I am in contact with Moto to see when the update should arrive at Rogers.. Will make a thread if i get an update
After playing around with a Rogers Droid Razr the past 3-4 days trying to figure out ROMs and such, I can safely say I will never actually BUY this device.
There is WAY more community support for the Galaxy S2, and it is a lot easier to manage. Flashing via odin, is MUCH simpler. The stupid fastboot crap is annoying.
well for the razr its much easier than using odin i can assure u that...
1. get the root package and root your phone ... its a simple script u run and it does the rest...
2. get bootstrap.apk and cwm-on-boot.zip ... put the cwm zip in the root of your sd card (external sd)... install the bootstrap ... reboot into your recovery using the app... and then install the cwm on boot zip...
3. make nandroid backup (mad slow)
4. get the deodexed rom needed for arctic... wipe, install that
5. install Arctic...
thats the condensed guide ofcourse... just a few setup steps u need to follow...
As opposed to what? Running SuperOneClick? Because that is all I did and it worked perfectly for my Galaxy S Captivate.
I should mention that just gives me root, but from there installing CWM was relatively easy, and there is nothing more complicated.
The Razr is a great device, but it is to me a PITA compared to the Galaxy S series in terms of Android Development.

I wish i read that before i started to mess with my phone. I used a tutorial to try to add a custom rom to my phone and read people with rogers with success but i guess i was one of those who messed up. Now my phone just turns on and stays at the motorola screen
can either of you post the backup file of your rogers ROM
Yes that would be very useful to try
where is the efs folder?

[Q] VIDEOTRON T999V Model CMW ROMS + WAY TO ROOT IT ?

Is there a custom rom made for SGSIII under videotron, model #SGH-t999v
Is there a tutorial that explain how to root this baby under T999v, i want to remove all that crap they install and be able to do like other user with different carrier.
thanks
Since no one seem to care about this phone version, someone Could you tell me how to make a full backup of my stock phone before i mess something in it.
I'll work on my own cmw
Correct me if I'm wrong but it wouldn't help you anyways as you need root access to restore protected sections like the system partition.
And also I think you need root read specific areas like the boot partition just to back it up.
You are probably right since i dont have ton of knowledge with this. i 'll wait until someone with higher skill than me post the way to do it or the stock roms or a custom one
Theres videosvon how to root already. I have never rooted before until last night and it was pretty darn easy. Should only take minutes.
Sent from my SGH-T999
I have tried several roms from the tmobile section on my videotron sgs3.
All of them have worked ok except for the known bugs.

Need to restore LG E400 L3 with stock Gingerbread

My phone was soft-bricked but I managed to install Cyanogenmod on it, which is fine, but I can't do a network unlock and looking around it seems I really need the stock Gingerbread 2.3.6 ROM installed.
I found a kdz file but 1) I have no idea if it's good 2) All the tools I could find to flash a kdz image require Windows, and an XP VM doesn't see my phone on USB for some reason.
I came across this thread and would like to know what peoples' success rates are:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256583&nocache=1
One guy posted that it soft-bricked him.
Alternatives are at the moment hope that someone can link/make me a stock backup made with clockwordmod or see if I can get a cheap one on ebay and grab the image from that.
Unless you guys got some other ideas?
Thanks for any info

I'd be real careful about following the directions out there all the way to the end. a train phone technician informed me back simply using Philz recovery image which a number of those directions suggest that you do after you download kingroot Flashify could break your phone. I've got the same phone and the same problem there is nobody working on volt2 anything that I have found yet. I tried running super SU me which temporarily rooted my phone but it didn't last long after I removed it. you can't install TWRP recovery or ClockworkMod without having a recovery image to flash so I am busy working on creating a recovery image for the LG Volt 2 that's the missing piece of the puzzle. Otherwise I am pretty happy with kingroot and purify which allow you to shut down everything you don't want running and uninstall quite a bit. together you at least get root access for Battery Doctor and Ron toolbox Pro which will allow you a whole lot more control over what runs and what doesn't. I know my battery lasts a whole lot longer since I touched that combination of tools onto my phone and removed all of that bloatware... Be careful purify identifies symptoms of bloatware that you may not want to remove. please say something if you find a Volt 2 recovery image so that we can install TWRP or ClockworkMod recovery what you really want before you experiment with a new mod. Good luck
Possible LG LS751 Volt 2 Stock Recovery.img
I came across a possible stock recovery for the LG LS751 Volt 2. I am in no way able to verify if the file is legit or correct and complete. If this is still a file that you need, let me know and I'll get it to you. I also have a copy of one of the Updates that was pushed to device also.
