Sorry for my english it is not my native language
About a month ago the problems started appearing on my SGS2, it all began when i installed a file from internet i downloaded it directly to my phone unzipped it and i installed it ( osmos game). After 2-3 hours my phone was going on car mode and off , i restarted it the problem was "gone", the next morning my phone drained the battery to 0% it would not even charge anymore , i thought it broke but then i got a new battery and it worked but the car mode problem was still there ( i had a custom rom , at first i used litening rom and then its spiritual successor Ultratix rom) also the phone started freezing and when i removed the battery and turned it on the battery jumped for example from 60% to 30% and then over time it "charged" itself to 40%, i thought maybe it was a virus i did a full wipe and re installed the rom , at first it worked fine but then the problems started appearing again the battery drain went from 100-500 mA doing nothing but the didnt get hot , so i thought maybe the rom was fault , i changed to OMEGA the same story at first it ran fine but then the problems starting appearing , so i installed ICS stock Rom again the same story(except the battery drain was normal) but now 2 more problems appeared when i fully charge the phone thinks it overcharged and it keeps sending me alerts on that so i need to restart it for it to go away , and when somebody calls me the caller keeps hearing his own voice BUT if i remove the case it the call goes fine ( I have casemate popcase and another silicone case , with both of them the same problem appears ) and today i tried installing CheckRom i did full wipe, wipe cache, wipe battery stats and everything with every rom i installed . Can someone tell me what the hell is the problem with my phone ?
PS: sometimes instead of car mode it goes to dock mode .

Your USB port is a little screwy. I and many others on XDA have experienced the exact same problems you describe. In some peoples case they were able to resolve the issues by either cleaning the port gently or gently prying the internal clip so as to lift it a little towards the screen. Others, as in my case, had to send it back to a service centre. My diagnosis was that the USB port had undergone some water damage and needed to be replaced (£27 in all). Like yourself I tried everything from new batteries to new SD cards and nothing worked before having it repaired Good luck
The problem is your micro usb charging port, there is a big thread about it.. I had the same problem but fixed it by bending the connector in the m-usb slot slightly. Try cleaning the port if that doesnt help you might have to bend it or have to send it in.
Edit: as for the echo, its actually a pretty common problem with this phone. I simply dont use a case anymore..

Omg im sorry , i didn't know it was a wide spread problem ,but i just i didn't know how to search for it. But im relieved that i can fix my phone thanks a lot guys
EDIT:Can someone post me a link to that thread ?

Has anyone had this problem?
After three trouble free months, my phone has developed a a very strange problem.
After charging, it behaves as if I'm constantly connecting and disconnecting the phone to a PC. It bleeps whilst showing the battery being connected to a charger and then imidiatly acts like its been disconnected by bleeping and running media scanner on both SD cards. It also shows that its connected via Kies, even though all this is happening whilst only being connected to a charger!
I've already done a full reset, which helped for a few days before it came back. It normally sorts itself out after a few minutes but the period before it "calms down" is getting longer. This morning I removed the battery for an hour but it continued in its "loop". Another, possibly related symptom is that as soon as the battery is installed, the phone boots up without being switched on. The same thing happens if I shut the phone down, it just powers up again!
Any thoughts?
had you if ever dip the bottom part of your phone? sounds like short-circuit issue or I maybe wrong.. try bringing in on to the nearest service center for warranty
Sounds a plausible theory but as far as I can tell, it hasn't got wet. Its been doing it for a few day now, so I think if it was damp, it would have dried out by now.
Thanks anyway.
I got the same problem. Let me know if you figure it out.

my friend had a simmilar issue and it was damage to the usb port , it kept thinking it was connecting to the pc or charger , it also wouldnt charge when plugged into a wall point and went into usb mode and vice versa when he put it into a pc
he sent it back for repair and they sent him a new phone
it may not be what you have but it does sound simmilar
i would try a few things like a reset , format the mass memory , install firmware again , dont restore back ups but set phone up fresh like you would do if you just bought it , then see how it goes , it could just be a corrupted file or system error that could be fixed bya full wipe and fresh install or it could be like my friends and the usb could be on the way out
on the topic of usb ports i do think they could have been better designed and iam hoping mine doesnt break as its needed for hdmi out , charging , docks , etc etc
Thanks Buxz,
As a follow up, I put the battery back in after taking it our for about 3hrs and all seams fine. I know that it isn't a permanent fix but I think it points more to software than hardware, which in a way is more annoying as its all about trial and error, as you described. A mechanical fault is more straight forward.
I just dread having to charge it again!
Regards, Woolly.
UPDATE
Charged it overnight and no problems when disconnecting it this morning. So far!
If anything, the battery life it better than before the problems. The fact that removing the battery for 3hrs broke the cycle of connect/disconnect, makes me think its soft/firmware related.
Woolly.
Over the last few weeks I've been noticing my battery levels fluctuating when I plug it in to charge and alot of the times my phone thinks it's still charging even when the plug is removed. Also when I switch off my phone- the battery charging icon keeps sporadically popping up preventing me from starting my phone- the only way to start it is to actually connect the charger and hit the power button.
I noticed this problem whenever I try any of the ICS roms- the error message 'Charging paused due to over voltage' keeps popping up. I've gone flashed various gingerbread roms thinking it was a software issue but now I think it may be a problem with my charging port. I also checked my voltage levels and they're hovering around 3.9V. Does anyone know what's happening and how to fix it?
Did You get Your handset liquid damaged? Might look like a silly question but i would sell mobiles myself and noticed that such symptoms might to be related to water/condensation damage...
Hopefully not in your case
Well no, my phone's been dry throughout. Never got it wet. The condition has progressively gotten worse over the last week. The switching off problem and ICS issues tipped me off that there was a problem here. All this time I thought my battery fluctuation issues were because of the rom/kernel
Probably the best idea would be to flash stock rom from your country and send it away for warranty repair, with a charger attached... no point fiddling with it yourself (especially that its not firmware related)
Good Luck

Mine does the same - BUT it only started after I flashed an ICS ROM? And it's intermittent; some days it doesn't do it at all, then it'll do it all day... No logic to it? And my phone has never gotten wet either...
Ive had the same problem with all ics roms.now im back to stock gingerbreed.anyway ics on this phase is still beta and problems are normal. w8 for mpre stable rom dude.

Of course; it's a funny one, though? I've just rebooted my phone several times, removed the battery, reinsterted, rebooted, and it's behaving again...
The weird thing is the problem has carried itself over to the gingerbread roms. The core problem is that my phone thinks the usb/power cable is plugged in when it's not

root the phone, go to recovery menu , go format system, data, all there one by one, turn off the phone , put it on download mode, and back to original stock rom

I did all that. Made naff all difference.
Hey guys, it's been solved. I ruled out any kind of software issues and finally went to a tech guy I knew. Told him that I think the USB port is malfunctioning and he removed it and started the phone & there were no issues. He replaced the USB circuit board for me for the equivalent of $17 (RM50). Phone is working just fine. Just so everyone knows I tried cleaning the port and even pushing the pin inside towards the display but they didn't work. All in all I can say that replacing the port is the only real solution because Gingerbread may be forgiving of the over voltage but ICS is going to keep giving the over voltage error every few mins which gets really annoying.
Anyone in Malaysia facing this issue should go see them because they were really helpful and replaced it on the spot. Also many other places said it would take a week to fix and were going to charge me RM150-200. This is a link to their lowyat post- http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f=72&t=2099197&st=0#entry46541006
Glad to know i'm not the only one with this problem. Mine also only started when i put ics on my phone. And when I restored a gingerbread rom it still had the same issues also minus the voltage error. Looks like i'll have to put it back to stock and send it away.
Galaxy S II overcharging issue
Mine is doing the same... but in my case it has a hardware issue: I charged it with my car charger in the truck, but I put the charger at 24V output by mistake... Now my I9100 has that yellow triangle and it's work only when plugged in charger!
well i had the 4.0.4 edition on my phone and it work perfectly fine until 2 weeks ago that started to close off at its own even with full batery and when i turned on it shows no batery at all as if it was totaly empty ! if i waited or remove the batery and open again then it shows the real batery remining ! after some investigation when i open the wifi or the gps after a minute it shut downs completly after a sort stuck !
i also upgraded to 4.1.2 just a minute ago with full format and the same issue apears !i dont realy know what that problem is and i really use the wifi or the gps and now i cant use my phone at all ! is there any solution to that or someone with that problem !? thanks
I had the same problem, mate. In my case, it only occurred when the phone was not plugged in. Also, the battery seems a little "chubby" on the back, I've heard ppl say its a symptom of a busted battery. Already ordered a new battery and as soon as it arrives, will test and give you feedback.

Chubby battery = Bad. Something in it ruptured, should stop using it.
Either that or do not charge it to full or leave it charging, it may blow up.
My phone is acting weirdly since past few days. I am currently on Feralab GB rom.
Firstly, the phone would automatically restart and battery level would fall by nearly 20% every time.
This leads the battery level to drop down to zero. After that it wont start and wont go into flash mode.
After some time(1-2 days), i tried booting it and it got to the main OS but as battery was 0%, phone automatically turned off.
Afterwards, it behaved normally for few hours. But it again stopped working just now.
What could be the problem ? Any ideas ?
P.S. When the phone turns off by itself, nothing works on it. Not even SEUS.
you could charge the battery with an external charger, or desktop charger something like that, i mean unattached in phone ... make it full
then put it back to phone then install other rom like DonutHD ... the battery performance on it is good, then if you face the same problem it should be a battery problem ... you should change it and buy a new one then

I know it is not a battery problem. Because it wont work with other batteries too when it automatically shuts down.
so ... you couldnt install any other rom because of that problem, tried and failed ??
maybe then its a hardware problem in the phone
I rooted my phone with Cyanogenmod 11 (nightly) two weeks ago, it was fine, no issues. On monday morning phone was fully charged, but with very little to no use it was completely discharged in 7 hours. When I connected phone to a charger (original and working) it didn't want to turn on, it did NOTHING, black screen. When I borrowed battery from my brother's S2 wich was charged almost fully, it booted KitKat but it showed that the battery has to be recharged. I put it back to brother's phone but it showed only approx. 15% less than before, it was okay. I tried charging my phone with brother's battery, but it was incredibly overheating , not like when you play games, I was afraid it was going to blow up. It is overheating even when phone is turned off and charging or even when normally turned on, on battery. I tried enabling airplane mode, I even installed stock ROM with Odin, but it is still overheating. It is not overheating near the camera but on the left side of the screen, I don't know what that chip is there for. Stock ROM now gives me error after 2 min. saying "Charging paused, battery temperature too high." Now my battery is discharged and phone is unable to charge it, only black screen again. Could this be done by rooting it with Cyanogenmod ? it was the only ROM that I installed through the step-by-step process on their site and for couple of days it worked fine. Is this a hardware issue that would occur even if I wouldn't root my phone, also is it somehow fixable, or would I need to change motherboard completely ? PLS HELP !
