It pains me to say but I'm leaving my E3D behind and going with iPhone 4S. Don't blame me just yet!
I have always been a fan of Droid and its power to customization. What happened was that I got the iPhone 4S for the wife and she gave it to me stating she don't want to learn about iOS since she's already used to Droid. Didn't want to go thru the hassle of returning, I accepted the offer.
I do still have a couple of droid phones to play around with though, so I'm not completely gone gone.
I already missed my droid after just a few days of iPhone.

Sell the iPhone for some good monies
the hassle isnt that bad if ur still in the return timeline....it would be more of a pain and hassle to me to know i took an iphone over the the masterminds here at xda that i thank everyday for making my evo what it is.but hey thats my opinion.

I know, I'll get a lot of hate for saying this, but the iPhone 4S is a really good phone. Perfect shape, size, screen, camera, everything a man could wish for in a smartphone. But the dealbreaker for me is iOS. iOS just looks like an app drawer to me, and even after "jailbreaking" an iOS device there is still not much you can do.
TL;DR I would rather have an iPhone than an Evo 3D if it wasn't plagued by iOS.

Since I traded my 3D and waiting on my Xoom, I'm forced to use my brother ipod touch. I got completely lost looking for capacitive buttons and stuff. Funny this is I had an iPhone like 2 years ago and completely forgot how to use the OS.

Actually my 4s uses a wifi tether app just like our 3d phones use the wifi tether app. And 4g eeee. I have 4g on my 3d and its not even that great just a battery hog.

the 30 day window is coming soon to an end, i imagine after that there will be lots of people trying to sell them on craigslist etc, i heard teh return rate on the photon so far has been a high one

I owned the nexus 4g for about 3 months and decided to upgrade one of my lines on the family plan (Family hand me down program hehehe)
I agree with newalkwer, I would not go back. I know you read about the screendoor effect, but let me tell you, yes, you will see it, BUT only if you really look for it. Otherwise, its a great phone so far and I will not look into returning it anytime soon. Sound quality is great and unlike the nexus 4g, the speaker volume on the Photon is LOUD! Let's me sneak in a couple movies in the data center with the servers humming away hehehehe.
Also, when i first looked at the nexus screen, I was wow, the display and the colors were great. But now that i think about it, It does look over saturated.
Well, to each his own, but these are my opinions on what i have seen so far.

You heard? Show some proof. I highly doubt that will be the case. This phone is off the hook and being unlocked and rooted now its only a matter of time before we get some sick kernels and ROMs. This phone rocks and I knew it would awhile back, no one believed me. Owell

My roommate works at a corporate sprint store and he just mentioned tonight that they have sold about 30 photons and have had only 1 return, and that was just because the person didnt have coverage in their area and decided to go with att.. though the customer liked the photon so much my roomy told him of the atrix (with the updates the atrix performance wise is pretty close now besides the obvious upgrades of mopho). So thats b.s. about the high return rate. If anything the nexus s 4G is higher because of the obvious network issues stock (though update should have fixed this). Either way look on ebay, if u think u can get a even trade then why not sell on ebay and just use paypal to buy a photon on ebay as well...

We need you on our team Shabby..but seriously toss in like $50 extra and swap some poor sap on craigslist for a Photon. I had an NS4G and the Photon is leaps and bounds better. Here's how i upgraded....Evo 4g + $50= Nexus. Complained about radio on nexus = free 2 yr upgrade. Sold nexus for $220. Bought Photon for $219.48 with tax ftw.

My Daughter has the Nexus S and I just got the Photon yesterday and there is NO WAY I would take her Nexus S. WHile the Nexus S is a very nice phone, to me it's not as good as the Photon ( I am coming from the OG EVO) which the Photon puts to shame. The Photon is being compared to the SGS2. It's Crazy Fast and has ALOT of things that it did right. Downloaded Netflix and watched The Thing and it looked Amazing. I don't know why I hear people *****ing about the screen, it looks Incredible to me. Photon>>Nexux S. Plus with Google buying Motorola Mobility, I can only see this as a Win/Win
Guys, I'm in a bind!!! I can't decide between the Photon or the HTC Sensation... I know this is the Photon Forums and thus the bias is going to be towards the Photon, but can someone make a good argument as to why I should go with the Photon instead of the Sensation?
I will be heading out to the store to buy ONE OF THEM but I just need that extra push towards one of them!

Photon hands down sprint has better coverage in buildings but T-Mobile data is faster but u get capped on T-Mobile, Sprint is unlimited. Photon processor is better then sensation and da 3d which is actually clocked at 1.2ghz, battery lasts longer on the photon, plus moto down wit google i kno dat locked bootloader nonsense is ova wit, photon has better voice quality and sound. Should i keep goin?

hell no! I was a LOYAL crackberry user for YEARS.. I always said I would never use anything except a BB... when I was thinking of making the switch to Android I was REALLY REALLY nervous and hesitant about it since I loved my BB so much... the first Android phone I had was the G2, then the myTouch 4G, then the G2x, then the Sensation, now the Evo 3d... after the first 5 minutes I was hooked.. and I only missed my BB a teeny tiny bit the first few days (the things I missed most were the physical keyboard and spell check in every single input field) but once I experienced Android there was no going back to BB EVER...

The only phone worth jumping to from the Evo 3d is the SG2 or the upcoming Iphone. Anything else is utter crap.
I will never ever go back to a blackberry. I've had multiple blackberry phones, and they've all suffered from the white screen of death. That's with no third party apps installed. The horror, THE HORROR!!!!

Actually I didn't but now that you bring it up I think I will. Yep mad.. I mean why bring this to the 3D thread does any one actually think that a 3D owner would switch to a BB. Get real. Maybe the main android thread would be a better place for this. I don't know of any 3D owners jumping ship to another phone especially a BB. We currently own one of the best (one of the best) phones on the market. No BB is going to take its place.

Preach on my man! I had a bb loaned to me while I was waiting for the 3d to drop and I ended up buying a old hero off craigslist for the meantime, so I actually spent extra so i wouldn't fall asleep trying to check Facebook.

Some die hards do it but some wont due to money spent on apps.
My cousins/friends got tired of the insurance, icon grid & little screen .vs every other reason/s I threw at them to give it up.

My wife HAD to have the iphone since she loves her iPad. She got it one day before my LTE showed up. When she saw the screen on the LTE, she immediately wanted to return the iphone. The only reason she was at all hesitant was her case. She loved her case.......

My buddy has had every iphone, he's tried Android and he's ready to try again due to poor battery once he jailbroke his, but I agree..the iphone takes amazing pictures.
The quality is still better than the One series, but this is the best camera I've ever owned on a phone.
I do believe that the EVO LTE camera is on par with the iPhone. But again that Is my opinion. I did have an iPhone 4 when I had my EVO 3d. I played around with the iPhone and I couldn't grasp how limited it was to my EVO. So I ended it up giving to my little one.

If you expand the pictures of the iPhone on a big screen you'll see what I'm talking about, the screen on this phone makes the pictures look better, not to say it has a bad camera tho, really amazing for a phone is on par to the iPhone 4S, I just wish video had stabilization when recording, either way I give up a little better camera for more personalization, I gottired on my iPhone because I saw everyone with it(just personal thing) and im happy with Android cause of the screen, I still miss some apps, but is getting much better then last year was

Both my supervisors changed from their IPhone 4S' to the One X, when I showed them how much you can customize an android device. Right now they love their phones and keep asking a 101 "How do you?" type of questions.
The funny thing is once I show them how to do something on their One X, they always say.... That's cool, I couldn't do that with the iPhone .....lol

In bright conditions, those two cameras are roughly on par. But once it gets dark, the iPhone's camera triumphs.
I am really temped to replace my iPhone with this phone. I'm just afraid I'll regret all of the sync able stuff, the iMessage, FaceTime, and the complete stable iOS platform. Any advice?
with facetime, imessage is all apple only crap. you'll just have to get them to download tango so their apple software can be compatible with everyone else

iOS is not more stable than android. That's a huge myth. There have been studies that have been dine that show iOS crashes more than android. The difference is android actually tells you when it crashes so you can find a solution. Apple tries to hide it from the user.

I've used both iOS and Android for a really long time.
I gave my iPhone 4S to my dad who barely speaks English because it's sooo basic. It's like a kids toys which is limited to the max. I never felt like I had a "machine" to play with. I felt like I had a flip phone which was only good for talking and texting. Even the web is very limited.
I'm not being biased. I really felt limited with the iPhone. (If you look at my Avi hard enough, you'll see the pic is taken with iPhone.)
The only things I miss about the iphone:
-Good front camera (the colors were better)
-imessage. (although there are 3rd party solutions, and group texting solutions, it was just easier)
All of these features and more are available in the LTEVO, and the LTEVO does it better... FAR better.
I'm not biased. If the iPhone was the best, I would own it, but it is not (given that the iPhone 5 is on the near horizon).
My wife owns the 4s, and it's more of a mobile problem, than a mobile solution, and my benchmark tests 1:1 show the LTEVO as the clear winner.

I went from the EVO to the 3d to the 4s and literally waited around for the LTE to come out not liking the 4s.
Essentially it comes down to what you like. As nonbiased as these guys/girls want to act they really aren't. No disrespect btw, you'll see my point in a sec.
You came to the LTE forum asking if you should change and why.....now go to the apple forum and ask this and see their "nonbiased" answers. Most of my friends have and love iPhones but they are also not tech junkies, I am. I liked the freedom Android gave me and missed it so I came back. I also liked the OS platform in Android and again the freedom to customize it at will to my specific taste. My Android doesn't look like anyone elses and theirs doesn't loom like anyone else's either. Apple you get different wallpaper lol.
Also, "jailbreaking" is very glitchy IMHO and way more trouble then what you really unlock. Android rooting actually gives you almost unlimited potential to the phone and a rooted Android phone with stock os IMHO is more stable then a jailbroken iPhone. It's also not reliant on a pc or program to reset or do stuff with. I've updated my Rom and stuff on my phone a ton of times and I can't remember the last time I hooked it into my pc. Freedom.
Notice I am saying Android and not LTE btw, just my opinion and experience. It just boils down to what you want to do with the phone. They both essentially do the exact same things. Same apps same calls same text ect...
For the record I still have my 4s, use it as a back up some times. I did like group messaging and the battery but I jailbroke it and battery sucked. Known issue. Plus these devs have gotten these roms to far surpass the iPhone battery no exaggeration.

I dumped my 4s 3 weeks ago and am very glad with my decision. I got bored as hell with the iPhone very quick after years on android. Couldn't stay away for long. Customizing android is like crack, you just can't stay away for very long.

I'm going to sound like a troll but I had my photon from day one to last Friday and loved it so much! Not one negative thing especially with CM9 but was getting bored with android having done literally everything you can think of so I switched to iPhone 4 and while I still love android this phone is really nice and I love apps, idk it just works
Well thats comparing an official company released rom vs an unofficial community made rom without proper driver support so I hardly think that's fair. I'm sure i'd be just as happy if i went from the photon to the gnex or someother phone with jb which "just works"
That said, I'm happy you're enjoying your new phone but dont really understand the reason behind opening this thread.

If you can't or don't want to change/hack/tweak your phone then of course it's going to "just work" if set up correctly by the manufacturer or developer. To paraphrase Woz, if you don't want to think about your phone, just don't care about full potential or tech scares/confuses you then the iPhone is great.
To me the iPhone nothing more than a really expensive "feature phone" which I find way to limiting. (And yes I do own one but never use it for that very reason)

i always tell people to pick wp7 over IOS if they want a less "hard" phone, its just as simple but isnt as stupid

Well right I figured I have 9 months left on contract so I'll try something different, and will be going back to android and I always end up in arguments with people explaining why to go android or why they should get it vs iOS and I think to be fair I need to try other side of the rainbow

I have an iPhone on AT&T... I hate it with a burning passion compared to any of the Android phones I have.
Yeah I really miss Android IOS is just so outdated I plan on picking up next nexus
read that Iphone 5 will be available for sprint. I am curious what the sprint model's specs are.
Much like the photon, a sprint iphone 4s can be GSM unlocked so that it will work with other US GSM carriers. It would be great if the Iphone 5 for sprint offers GSM and LTE.

Because iPhone isn't customizable. Cool different folder names and wallpapers. But so what. I like having different launchers and features. Even if it does mean not having 4g most of the time. iOS is just boring over all and too restricting. That's why android is Better.

IPhones never supported 4G LTE until now. I think they never even had 4G? Least my friends that have an IPhone 4s never got 4G coverage in our area, and we live less than a mile apart.

First iPhone to support 4g weather its WiMAX or lte lol. Doesn't stop I users to tell u that their 3g phone is faster thn ur 4g android when both phones connected to the network n ur on 4g. Still lmao at the ppl who were showed a 4s thinking it was the iPhone 5. Priceless

according to this article Sprint's iphone 5 model is A1429, will have CDMA US support, and GSM world capability via SIM. It will support LTE bands 2100/1800/800/700c//1900Mhz.
It wont support Tmobils LTE band. The same phone will be sold in Japan to KDDI.
I wonder if there will be a way to unlock Sprint's iphone5 to use GSM in the US as well.
