I've said it before...these things are awesome. A couple of egrip strips on the side and a large pad on the back and I no longer feel like the Note is ready to jump out of my hands. It is easier to pick up without feeling like you're going to drop it, too.
Not an employee or paid endorsement...I just love these things. They're also called gecko strips.

Which one did you buy?
I had to look it up. I had these awhile back:
http://geckostrips.com/shop#ecwid:category=411410&mode=category&offset=0&sort=normal
SKU910290- 14pcs strips 4.5x .18 (3/16) clear
SKU910701 - 5 pcs black for 3 devices
Both under "Universal Kits". I had to cut the clear strips short maybe 3/4" so they fit below the power button and volume rocker, and then I stuck the huge black pad right under the words "Galaxy Note" on the back cover. The shorter strips might be better, but the long ones were what I had at home.
The strips on the side won't last long - I had them on my tablet and they start to collect lint and peel after awhile, but the Note feels great in the hand and I'm no longer afraid to let someone else hold it for fear they will drop it.
I love them too props to whoever it was o. Here that recommended them me. I got the 12 piece black kit but the 5 piece looks like it'd work well to. Thair website is a little janky but it has detailed measurements for a lot of the kits.
They also have alot of clearance sales. The fit does not have to be perfect to do a great job. I got the iphone set on sale for $4 and a bunch of grab bag ones- 10 for $5. They do a great job and can be cut to fit very easily.
Yep - I gave up on the ones on the sides since they started to peel after a couple of days, so I've put strips on the back near each edge. It's not quite as good as having the super-grippy sides, but it seems OK.
Gecko Strips available in UK?
I have a HTC ONE Mini 2 is really nice but it is a bit slippery. I have been looking for something like this for a few weeks now and I'd like to know if I can get some from a supplier in the UK - any ideas?

I believe the design of the 7.7 with the power and volume controls on the right side dictated where the hinge is for the book cover case .
Think about it.....If it opened right to left ,then the power and volume buttons would be on the bottom and subject to being accidentily activated when using it as a stand in landscape mode, as it would be sitting on them. Also they couldn't be used sitting on the bottom.
I've had it on since the second day I owned my 7.7 and got used to the left to right opening now. I do really love it's tight fitting, minimalist design and keeps the tab nice and thin.Feels good in my hands and gives more grip when gaming and surfing, works great as a stand and gives some protection for this beautiful screen when transporting it.
I'm not big on the other generic designs that are out there for the 7.7 right now. If you look at ones selling on Ebay ,the sellers are selling the exact one for the 7 inch ones too and look bulky. If something better comes out then I would consider it down the road but I think this is the best one out so far .
agreed, you wouldn't be able to use it as a stand if it opened the other way.
i like the way it opens

tab 7.7 case.
Im not very impressed with mine:
1: Dont like the fact it opens the wrong way. I agree they couldnt design it any other way but still dont like it.
2. After about a week the grips that keep it steady when standing up starts slipping on various surfaces. So tab keeps falling flat.
3: No option to put it in the tipical slighly tilted for typing possition like the case for tab 8.9 or 10.1
4. I can already see small cracks in the flexible rubber (hinge bit) and the cut open bit at the power button. For this price I was expecting way more.
Argh. All these mixed reviews of the OEM book cover is getting me quite confused. I don't really think I should shell out the amount of money they're asking for the case...
Maybe I'll just get an envelope/pouch from Timbuk2 or other makers while waiting for that perfect case with the multi-view angles.
As for the cover opening the "wrong" way, I think it's the right way from where the Tab was made. Most East Asia books DO operate like that. Especially mangas

I have the 8.9 with the book case. Is it the same sleek design and same thinness as the 8.9 case?
I've got the book cover the same day I got my 7.7 and first I didn't like it. The hinge was very stiff, the lid wasn't flush with the back when flipped around completely. But now I'm used to it and it's ok.
But:
- when the lid was flipped to the back for a longer time you can see the top (rubberlike) material delaminating from the hard bit inside in the hinge area
- when the lid is flipped to the back it's rather wobbly. I'm used to hold the Tab in my right hand with resting it on my spread little finger. But then the lid is always moving about and just feels quite assuring.
But it's a lot better than the Samsung pouch, which is simply waste of money.
The d30 leather pouch for the old Tab was way better but of course wasn't as light and space saving and you could always loose it when you were using the Tab.
Just got my Case today.
From all the horror stories I have been reading about it I thought it was going to be horrible but I like it so far.
First off:
It is incredibly thin and light. Adds almost no bulk at all.
Tab fits very well in the case and my hinge is not stiff at all so folds over very easily.
I dont like:
- all the corners except the top right are protected. So if you were to drop it on that corned it will dent the device.
- I actually dont like the cut out for the power. The material sticks out a little when the case is closed. Wish they didnt have cut out for it.
Besides that I think its really good. I dont think you will find another book case that will be as thin as this one.

Well yes and know. Just as sleek but the big difference is the fact that it only has one stand position unlike tab 8.9 and 10.1 design that has two. One upright and one slightly tilted/flat to type. Not sure how to explain it. Hope you understand what I mean...
I, too, like its sleekness and light weight, but I have to say I wouldn't spend $40+ again -- I think it's way overpriced for what it offers -- and that's after having numerous tablets and similar cases (most selling for under $25. If you can afford to wait for the market to catch up I'd recommend not buying this one.

Just got mine (from the cell guru) and I actually like it.
good quality and not too bulky (can still hold it with one hand easily)
for $30, I'm not sure we can find a lot better
O
I got mine today from CellGuru along with the GT 7.7 from NegriElectronics!
So stoked!
I noticed on the plastic box it came in that it had an illustration for Keyboard Mode along with Media-Viewing Mode.
Anybody find out how the Keyboard Mode is supposed to work? It looks like it's propping the Tab up several inches.
I think Keyboard Mode is a mistake. There's really no way this thing can be propped up that way unless you just put something between the two sides.
Here's another case that popped up on ebay. Looks interesting, still debating if I should buy one.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/360-Rotatin...976?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a18c67618
I love the Samsung Case. It is quite svelt. I don't like that you only really have one angle to stand but it still looks awesome and as others have mentioned you still get a feel for how thin and light this tablet is.
When I bought my HTC Advantage 4 1/2 years ago there was no decent case for it anywhere - like the Note it has a large screen (5") and unlike the Note a very large body. I found Nutshell (a.k.a. Tough-as-Nuts) and their line of cases - built like tanks, literally with gun holster components including heavy leather and heavy-duty belt clips. We had a long discussion about it here, including pics http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344605 . It ended up being the only case most XDA members bought.
Fast forward to today, now that I have my Note on pre-order my first stop was to check out the Nutshell offering for the Note. This is the one I found:
http://tuff-as-nuts.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-belt-case.aspx
I also happened to find an old post offering a discount, which I didn't know about when I ordered my other case. This offer may not even be valid:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=259275
I haven't ordered the case yet, I want to see how well the Note fits into my Advantage case first - it will fit the height and width but the Advantage case may be too roomy for the thickness since it is twice as thick as the Note. If I do order one I'll report back here with pics and a fresh review.
Edited 4/12. Case arrived today, ordered on March 26th (I used the "tuff02" 10% discount code mentioned below). Just as well-built as my old case, even stronger because they now build in something flat and hard into the back wall. By putting the phone into the case with the screen facing inward the screen will be fully protected. I ordered the pen loop option this time. I always carried one inside my last case but that phone was so thick there was room next to it. As I figured, there isn't enough room for a pen next to the Note - too thin. I'm not complaining.
In the last picture you can see a bump under the leather below the metal clip. That, along with the lower lip of the clip, keeps it on your belt no matter what you do.
I'm still looking for a case for mine and came across your post; thank you for sharing. I'm still gonna do some more looking, but this one is now on my list as a possibility (that is if they take them off hold and actually start making them).
FYI...
I tried the coupon code "tuff01" in the thread you linked to and it showed up 5% savings. For the heck of it I tried punching in "tuff02" and it shows 10% savings.

Sweet! I'll be sure to use that.
This case is awesome. I also got one for my MDA, still looks like new.
Quick update, I noticed they removed their placeholder page for the Note case (the 2nd link in my 1st post above). I've emailed them to find out which of their cases would be best. I looked at this chart to match up to the Note's specs (146.85 x 82.95 x 9.65mm):
http://tuff-as-nuts.com/beltcasessizetable.aspx
At first glance their case #215 would work - it appears to be the right length and width, but it has twice the depth as it should for the Note so it would flop around. Then I noticed case 270 right above it is the very one I already have for my Advantage and I already know that case is the right height, but too wide and again way too much depth. So that would mean 215 would be too long! I'm not spending $60 and waiting 2 weeks to find out it won't hold the phone securely. If I hear back from them I'll report back.
I am currently using a NutShell case I got as a freebee back at one of the PPC expos it is a very good fit (I do have the Samsung flip cover on it). The design is their basic case with the notched corners and no clip (leather slip panel the belt goes thru)
Cheers
BR
I received a reply from the company:
Almost there
Still awaiting final asset approval.

So the placeholder page is back, and it says they are taking preorders if you are interested. I may make an order today.
Thanks for the info, techntrek. Please post if you hear anything. I'm a former (heck I still have it) Advantage owner looking into the note now, and one of the first things I'm looking at is a belt case like I used to love back then!
- I also sent you a pm. Interested in comparisons for former Advantage users to compare against the Note.
I had an Advantage. What questions do you have?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Thanks for the reply, but too late - I bought the Note a week ago. Loving it except for battery life problems (which I'm researching again now!)
Yup, we had a nice conversation comparing the Advantage to the Note.
Glad to hear you got one.
BTW it looks like this case is now available. Getting ready to order, using the "tuff02" discount code.
Just ordered, may take up to 2 weeks for delivery.
I've been wearing my phone on my belt for more years then I can remember - but since I had nothing for the Note up front, I've been carrying it loose in my pocket (with screen protector & ultra-slim bumper case) for a week.
..and I might stay this way for a while. I was always catching my case on things before. I was also hoping the vibration would be easy to feel in the pocket, but this past weekend proved the vibration isn't strong enough.
Might switch back to a belt pouch later, but going to stick with this way for a while & see. Be sure to post reviews of the Tuff case when you get it!
Ditto, I've been trying it in the pocket for the last 5 1/2 weeks, also hoping I could get away from the pouch. But it was always hard getting it out, so I'm back to a pouch. I agree it is surprisingly hard to feel the thing vibrate even when its sitting right on your leg.
Updated post #2 with a full review, including pictures.
Two things I would change so far. I never used the D-ring on my old case, and never will on this one. I should have asked them to leave it off. Looks like it will be easy to remove with a razor blade.
I'm glad I got the pen holder/loop, but I should have asked them to put it on the BACK edge, and since I always wear it on my right hip, to put it on the side that faces rear (the right side as you face the back).
Some things for you to consider if you order one.
Nut case for Galaxy Note
This is my 2nd tuff-as-nuts case. My first outlived all of my 3 iPhones. It is still in almost new condition in my drawer. This is the nicest hip holster I have found. I have tried several. The clip will never break. The fit is very snug for the first week or so and then it loosens up. I am very happy with this case ever though it is expensive. I got chocolate leather with belt clip and full magnetic flap.

Thanks for valuable info re: cases w/beltclips - will the phone fit with the candy shell over it??
The fit is VERY tight with no cover. They design to the factory specs and go slightly smaller, counting on the leather to stretch a little.
They will make custom versions for a small extra charge, or you could compare all of their models by size (look for the link on the left side of their home page) and pick one that is slightly larger. The one they originally made for the Advantage is probably the one you'll need. If there is any wild chance you live in central MD you could try my old case and buy it from me if it works.
Has anyone found a holster or holster combo for the note i have the white one?
I haven't. I'm waiting for Seidio's release. Just have to settle for something else for now for protection.
I am also waiting for seidio..hope they release a surface/innocase/holster combo like the active case they have on the site.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497252
Used one of these for the last 4 1/2 years, they build them with gun holster leather and clips. Indestructable.
I'm definitely thinking something else besides a case because when spring time hits and I dont have my coat pockets to carry this in its going to look and feel a little uncomfortable in pants/shorts pockets. But a holster, to me, may not be the safest thing for a device this size besides looking like the biggest geek . I'm thinking something more along the lines of a belt pouch, or man purse or something. Obviously I dont care what I look like carrying this just want to be comfortable and be safe for the device.

Go to www.ebay.com and search for Easecase
Eascase is a company, in China, that makes custom cases for a lot of different phones including the Streak and Note. I have one for my Streak, and a new one is in the mail right now for my Note. These are Custom Made cases! You get to choose the type and color of leather both inside and out as well as the closure type and Belt Clip or Loop !! My Streak case has a clip that while very nice and strong still has a tendency to pop off of my belt at times. I must have dropped the Streak at least 20 times Without ANY Damage!!!! My new case, for my Note, I ordered with a belt LOOP so that it will Never fall off again They have both horizontal and vertical cases; and the prices start at $50 and go up from there. Both my cases were $50. Very worth the price for the Incredible Quality IMHO !
Another place you might investigate is netimes dot com. Since I'm a new member I can't post you links but I ordered the hanging waist case for the note.
And at just over 10 bucks including shipping seems totally worth it. Like a lot of these places, you order from Hong Kong or China and have to wait a long time for them to show up. I ordered last Monday and still waiting for mine but it hit the US on Saturday so I imagine it will show up this week and I can give my full impressions then, but I just couldn't see spending 50+ bucks on something like this so thought I would mention this site which seems to have a bunch of Note related stuff really cheap.
Just an update on my holster. I received mine today from netimes and was very impressed. The leather (probably faux) feels high quality with nice straight stitching and the the belt clip is VERY solid. It is almost too hard to get on and off my belt, but I guess that's a good thing. The Note fits perfectly inside. The only thing I'm disappointed about is that it has magnets inside to keep the flap of it down. I got this one because I didn't think it had any magnets inside it just a big flap to keep the Note safely inside, but unfortunately it does have magnets. I guess time will tell if the Note gets ruined by it or not, but for $10.84 including shipping I'm very impressed. So, only complaints, had to use PayPal, took 10 days to get here, and had has magnents in the case. Your mileage may vary.
After finding out about Brando screen protectors after reading a thread here on XDA, I decided to see what other accessories they had for the 7.7. And they had a couple cases in different colors that looked worth a try. Ive been wanting one that snapped on and only covered the edges and not any of the screen itself because sometimes they will cause a screen protector to peel, and I found this. It comes in 4 colors. I ordered the "ice" color which is basically clear because I wanted to still be able to see the silver back. And since it was only $10 I decided to pick up this one too, also in the ICE color. So anyway Ill write some short reviews about them when I get them. It takes 7-10 days from Hong Kong. Heres a couple pics also.
Just ordered 2, these look awesome! Thanks for posting, I'll post pics when I get them.

I got a similar one, with an X in the back. It works, but it increases the size a bit (not so much thickness though, but the length x height), without adding much value (like a stand or wallet pockets or whatever). And it's kind of slippery in your hands, but not so much in your pocket.
It does protect the tab more than the OEM book case, but the Book Case looks better, it's more portable, it's a stand and slips into your pocket easier, while not being slipery in your hands when folded. Protection is just against scratches though.
The worst thing about the case like this is the power button. It's kind of hard to press on/off and sometimes I turn off the tablet trying...very annoying.

Yea, I will most likely be using the snap on most of the time.
UPDATE: Ive received the cases and will write a short review with pics.
Ill start with the snap on case. First thing I noticed that there were 2 spots that had what I would call a stress mark. You know the whitish look that plastic gets when its been bent and is close to breaking? (see pics) This was right out of the package. And it had a scratch along the back as well. Very cheaply made. But it does fit, and fits pretty good. But compared to the TPU type it just doesnt look good, so that one will be shelved. No point in returning it. Comes in Blue, Pink, Black, and ice (clear) I dont recommend this case.
The "ice" colored clear TPU style "X" case is awesome. Its made very well and fits perfect. Since its clear the silver of the tab shows through and looks great. All the ports are cut out well, and it has a very nice grip feel to it. Which of course is a great thing to have on a nearly $600 tablet. My only complaint is one that happens with most of these style cases, and that is that it makes the buttons stiff, and less responsive. They work, but require a lot more force to register. Other than that if you want a case that protects, and still shows the awesome silver back of the 7.7, I do recommend this case, and I prefer the ice colored one. (clear) It does come in red also.
I had also ordered this sleeve . I knew there was a chance it might not fit, but based on the measurements I knew it would be close. Well it didnt fit. It was only $7.45 shipped so no biggie. Ill give it to my mother in law that has the first edition 7" galaxy tab.
I just checked their site (brando), and they have a new case choice that looks like it might be good. Its a snap on type, but is rubber backed rather than the hard plastic. Comes in Colors: Black, White, Blue, Pink, and Red. I might order one, but I learned from my last order to expect at least 16 days for shipping.
Anyway thats all and heres some pics.
Now that you have had the clear back cover for a few days, how is it holding up specially around the buttons and sim/SD slot? I ordered a similar one from an eBay seller in china and it has fallen apart those two areas. This was within 2 day of first use, I had not dropped it so was very upset about it. I did pay $4 for it so i guess I shouldn't complain.

I dont even use it. Already collecting dust. I use the X case sometimes, but love the poetic case and use it the most. Looks great, protects great, and has multi stand angles. Highly recommend.
with complete frsutration in no keyboard case looking to ever be made for my purchase of the top tablet at the time the Galaxy Pro i have ended my search and somewhat happy.
my first purchase after exhausting months of hoping and searching led me purchase the M-Edge Stealth which upon setting up was the most impressive 3rd party universal i had ever seen. i see no reason to go into all the details that had me loving this case because very quickly i discovered it had 1 flaw that completely killed it. one of the greatest features was t he magnet safe strap and the base was magnet as well and sadly this caused the Pro to go to sleep every time i would touch it. if you push it up in the holsters it was fine but touching it or moving it and it would slide down just a hair and that hair caused the magnets to put it to sleep. i spent some time since it was such a great case trying to make it work but with much sadness i had to return it.
my next purchase and what i am staying with is the Kensington Keyfolio Pro 2 and at this pricxe i can live with the few things i would change.
quick review:
- keyboard types nice and almost all the keys for Home , Settings, Volume, Web, Music, work and go to the app i desired. it also seems to autoconnect after casing it up and opening it back up again so functionaly it is very nice
- case sadly is not a nice leather feel like the M-Edge and although not bad it feels kinda like it might carck eventually like cheap fake leather can do but only time will tell
- it is in no way as thin as the M-Edge and much bulkier than he 11" laptop i would carry but not ridiculous to me
- it has large and small corners with velcro to allow to place it wherever on the back plate that holds it which is different put nice and allows some positioning to what you like. i will say though that i was going with the small angles anyway but the large were on it and one ripped as i tried to take it off and so i know now how to handle them.
- the Logitech or Zagg of my dreams would not have allowed me to take the keyboard out and place it where i like and i see the value in this now as well
- there is no camera hole on the back put it does state that you can cut it out and they thought of this but since i dont use the back camera for anything i dont mind
anyway hope this helps out another 10.1 like me that has been frustrated with no top of the line model available.

my next purchase and what i am staying with is the Kensington Keyfolio Pro 2 and at this pricxe i can live with the few things i would change.
quick review:
- the Logitech or Zagg of my dreams would not have allowed me to take the keyboard out and place it where i like and i see the value in this now as well
- there is no camera hole on the back put it does state that you can cut it out and they thought of this but since i dont use the back camera for anything i dont mind
anyway hope this helps out another 10.1 like me that has been frustrated with no top of the line model available.

yeah i looked at one of those but what i dont like about it:
- the kickstand - this limits position placement where the Kensington allows from straight up with keyboard in case to almost flat and stays in any position between them
- the full edge holster - i like to see the tablet with minimum corners or preferably which only comes with ones made specifically for the tablet that it snaps into place with almost no edge
- the keyboard is large with the big palm area and it does not have all the Android specific keys to launch everything which allows me to rarely touch my screen
i am not saying it isnt nice but it wasnt what i was looking for and i doubt there is an option out there i didnt research. thanks for the info though and maybe its something others might like
Samsung has neglected the Tab Pro 10.1
Its these disappointing products that brought me to just buy a stand alone keyboard option. After almost a year of traveling around the country with my Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, throwing it in my backpack between classes, and carrying it around to camping trips and etc. I've decided that its a little too late to purchase a case or keyboard folio at this point.
Samsung really did their customers wrong by not producing a suitable keyboard/case for the galaxy tab pro 10.1. At the very list they could have worked with 3rd parties to produce these options.
