I think I am still within my return policy on my Samsung Galaxy Player YP-G1. I was thinking about getting it exchanged for a brand new one. From there I can take it home and find a way to extract the stock firmware from it. It will be untouched, and unmodified. I just need someone to show me how to do this.
If this is successful, we can finally have an untouched, unmodified, working stock rom for the YP-G1 (US).
My return policy ends this Friday, Feburary 24th, so a response is kinda urgent here. Let me know if this is a good idea or not.

If you want to go ahead, you can make a dump of every partition and use them for a full recovery. But it's your choice.
Okay. I have successfully managed to exchange my player for a brand new one. This is brand new and clean. No custom firmware or anything has been installed on it yet. I am unsure where I should go from here. Any ideas?
Nevermind. I just figured out how to create a flashable Odin file. It seems to work with my device. I'll upload it as soon as possible.
And here it is. Enjoy.

Hey Lads,
i'm about to get my GS2 this week and i'm asking myself if it is necessary to make a backup from the stock-firmware.
I had a galaxy s before and as soon as I got it I went flashing everything I could get my hands on without doing any backaup.
So my question is if I need to make a backup to get back to stock when I for example want to send it back for service or something like that.
Or does flashing a stock-rom, from the forums, have the same effect ?
Well I think this will have the same effect but I'm not 100% sure.
greets
How do you backup the stock firmware?
But I think you can always get the original firmware throug KIES if you don't change the CSC.
Good question... I don't know exactly but I do believe there is a way that uses ADB - something fromh the android develeopment tools.
But I dont know how this is exacly done. Maybe someone could post a link to a how-to ??
Question is ; am I able to do a official update when I actually have a custom rom installed...

Post 46 and save an original firmware for your brand .

Hey that is a very nice app. Thanks Bro.
@warranty
I know that there will be no repairs under warranty after flashing a non-stock firmware, thats the reason why I need a "clean" firmware to flash before sending it back.
wouldn't bother trying to back up the stock firmware as this can be re-flashed. just make sure you back up your efs folder!

OK, here it goes:
I have had my personal SGS2 for a couple of months now. Rooted, flashed, you name it. The screen appears to be showing some defects, so I need to restore it to stock and return (under warranty). I have ordered a JIG to take care of the flash counter.
As life would have it, my company just issued us with brand spanking new SGS2, so I have a "source" for my ROM - same carrier, same model, etc, etc.
How can I "clone" the stock ROM from the new (and untouched) SGS2 and later transplant it to my (rooted) SGS2? Under company rules I am not allowed to root it - is there a way to have a temp root or maybe copy the stock ROM without root?
Thanks!
Why wouldn't you simply download your stock firmware from Intratech's thread or simply download it with Checkfus ?
Seems like you're trying to make a simple process (returning your personal SGS2 to stock so you can send it in for warranty repair) more complicated than it needs to be
Edit to add - If you can't find firmware for your provider in the above thread or with Checkfus, try a country-specific stock rom from this thread

Over the past yeah I have flashed about 40/50 Roms onto my trusty original galaxy note. But now I have sold it, and there for i need it to be a actual samsung phone again. Now this part i have not tried yet, so I was hoping to hear from someone with experience in this area. Do I just go stop sammobile.com, get a ICS Rom and use Odin to flash it on there?
Sprint recently pushed an update, updating their Galaxy S5's to G900PVPU2BOD3. I soft bricked my phone and want to get back to stock. I'm currently running CM12. I have tried to flash the OA6 firmware onto my phone, with no success obviously. Does anyone know where I can get G900PVPU2BOD3 stock firmware?
SAME HERE!
I've been dealing with this for the past day as well! Why did I leave touchwiz, i had no idea i couldnt use the fingerprint scanner. No wonder i keep getting the fail on ODIN... im using the wrong stock rom...
I'm looking for it too. You and me and everyone else just has to wait. Hopefully sammobile.com will have it soon. I'm not bricked or anything. Just wanted to get back to 100 percent stock to try out building my own ROM. Now I have to flash everything through recovery lol.
WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Downgrade to kitkat blocked by samsung .....
same problem here my phone stuck in sprint logo
Its on sammobile now

Hi everyone,
as might be guessed by my user name, I am indeed located in Kenya, East Africa. I am new to this forum, and I am even new to phone modification/flashing custom ROMs, in fact, although I am an IT field technician I was old fashioned enough to stick with my nice old Nokia 6303i up to now (yeah, just a simple mobile phone, nothing smart at all)...
Now finally I got an old but nice and still fully working Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 from a friend. There are lots of problems with software updates though, simply because the Android version is 4.3, which is way out-dated by now...
Here comes my question - I have been trying for hours, days and weeks to find the stock firmware downloads for that, but wherever I try to get it I am being told the files are not available anymore/not to be found. I don't dare trying to flash the firmware to something newer without being sure to be able to go back in case of a mess-up, since I am an absolute noob with that.
Can anybody here provide a reliable and still working download link for old stock firmwares for this phone? Surely there must be some sort of archive that still holds them, only I am apparently too daft to find it.
Please bear with me!
Hoping for someone being able to help me with this,
Best regards from Kenya!
Andy
