How about a 15 minutes boost? does it give it a few hours of life?
I guess i'm comparing it to the HTC evo where i could plug it in for a few minutes and i get some substantial usage after.
It's a bit slow for me. 3-4 hours for a full charge sounds about right. But moderate use while plugged in to a computer it barely charges, haha...
It would be nice to have a kernel that supports rapid charging. I think Da_g mention something like that
15 minute charge isn't enough unfortunately. Samsung phones always take a while to charge I've had this "problem" with my Infuse 4G, my international Note, and now my AT&T Note. 15 minutes honestly might get you 2-3 percent in terms of battery note nearly enough for a few hours of use.
About 40% in an hour so that would be 2.5 hours for 100%. On USB it charges suuuuper slow.
I would love to see how fun it would be to charge one of those 5000mah extended batteries

Mine fully charges from 0 - 100% in less than 2 hours using the original samsung car dock charger. Tried a few times and always charges this quick.

+1 on the Samsung charger. When I use all of the other micro USB chargers that I have it barely charges it. One night I put it on one of the other chargers at 1 am @ 23% and when I woke up at 6 am it was only at 77%. So I put it on the Samsung charger and it went to 100% by 7 am.

Hmmmmmm.
Last night I charged mine on my old HTC charger cuz I didn't feel like crawling behind the bed to swap them. When I woke up (after 8.5 hours of charging) I was at 99%. I suppose it could have been the stupid battery widget reporting incorrectly but my phone was down 8% in the first hour, with only 2 minutes of screen on time.
Guess tonight I'll swap chargers and see if that makes a difference.
any harm in using the Ipad charger to charge the note. i use it on my Iphone and it really speeds up the time needed to charge.
My note will be here Friday.
There may be two variables at play here - the cable, the charging source. I know with my Advantage the stock charger (with no removable cable) had an additional pin which told the Advantage to charge at a full 1 amp rate vs. the standard 500 ma available from a USB port. I think the stock Note charger is rated for 800 ma, don't have it here to verify.
Using the Note's stock cable I've seen a fairly fast recharge time both from the stock charger and my computer's USB port. Yesterday I drained down to 6%, plugged into my work computer (stock cable) for 2 hours then 1 more hour in my car and I was up to 77% after. Which included some time streaming XM via blutooth. Then plugged into the stock charger at home and was up to 100% after a few hours even though I was tethering via Wifi to 2 computers with heavy surfing.
We would need several tests to see if there is something special about the stock charger, the stock cable, or both. But compared to my Advantage it charges way faster and uses much less energy - excluding the display.

Interesting. I wonder if it's just a good low gauge (thicker, better conducting) cable, because the HTC adapters are rated 1 amp.
People who uses the charger that came with the phone must know that these chargers are really weak... They are only 1Amp... I use my blackberry playbook charger which is 1.8Amp charges the phone almost twice as fast than the regular one... Same thing with my ipad and iphone... I use my ipad charger to charge my iphone 4s and it's way faster! Use more powerful chargers! My note gets charged in 2hours top!

I'm curious to know what is the max amperage that the note can take. I know my old EVO is limited to about 950ma.
Uh...I love my Note, but it charges pretty slowly compared to my Skyrocket. It is also the first phone I have had, that can actually discharge while using it on a car charger. Especially if you are watching video or any screen intensive task.

The beast? I got mine but haven't powered it up yet for charging purposes. There is no light indicator that tells you when its done.
Got mine yesterday and I charged via AC and it took about 3 hours to complete. After letting it drain over night after 8 hours of heavy usage, I'm charging via USB and it's taking forever. With it on and after 2 hours, it was only at 15%. Now turned it off and it's been 3 hours and it looks like 75%. BTW, press the power button once and the screen will show the batter gauge.
you should charge it while turned on and for 6 hours or more for 4-5 cycles. Let it go down to 5% for those 4-5 cycles. Do not let it turn off from lack of power.
That is from instructions I received from a third party battery which had these detailed instruction to maximize capacity. I am sure you will get 1000 different ways but that is what I use and have always had good battery life.

While powered off, you can hit the volume button to get a visual on the batter status.

This thing pretty much requires the cable that came with it to charge at full speed. Older MicroUSB cables charge at a much slower rate and are recognized as USB devices when plugged in. It must be because of the higher capacity battery. When you have the right cable plugged in, though, it charges pretty fast.
I'm noticing that even using the wall charger and the USB cable it came with, it's taking about an hour for the Note to charge only 15%. Anyone else noticing this? Is it normal that the first batch of charges takes this long (at that rate it would take 6+ hours to charge from 0-100%)?
My note charges very fast when I use the ac adapter and super slow when I use the us from my computer. About 1.5 hours on the ac and more than 3 hours on my pc's us

Its always a good idea to charge using the AC wall adapter. The USB port on a computer usually supplies ~.5A @ 5v to charge the phone, the included Samsung wall charger supplies double that with 1.0A @ 5v. That is the reason you see such a big difference in your charging times.
(Some computers now supply more than .5A through USB, but .5A is most common)
USB3.0 can supply 5.0v @ 950mA to charge, but the kernel isn't set up to take advantage of this, I'll see if I can change that (it would only affect charging while booted)

I was excited reading this because my new laptop has a 3.0 port. However, I then remembered that my power brick for my laptop is kick ass and has a USB port that charges devices at 1A anyways. Haha.

So I got it down to 5% and then I plugged it in at around 8pm and at 11pm it was at 100%. Not bad, not great but seems about right. Now my question is I see a notification that battery is fully charged and to unplug charger but Im going to bed soon and am going to leave it plugged over night. Is this risking the battery in any way?

That would be the only use for my USB3.0 ports so far. Have yet to even need to utilize it.
The charger that comes with the Note can charge the battery in 3hours via ac. I wouldn't suggest to charge via usb, just because it's way too slow. Im using my playbook charger to charge my Note, Galaxy Nexus , and my bb 9900. This charger is 1.8a, it nearly charges 2x faster than the regular 1a that comes with most phones. Same thing for my car charger 2a, i even use my ipad charger to charge my iphone 4s and it's way faster!! Use more powerful chargers... Not more than 2a or your device might melt down!!

That's weird. I was under the impression that GS Note only accepts 1.0A of power. Well at least that's what it saids at the back of the phone. I've got an iPad charger that draws out 2.1A, maybe I should give that a try.
Just wondering, I bought two JetStreams last week and both of them take a while to charge; I would say over 8 hours. My previous tablet would get fully charged in less than 4 hours.
I love this tablet and besides the usb port and audio jack placement that's the only other thing that's bothering me at the moment.

Using the 9V charger that has been provided by HTC, I can charge my tablet in around 3-4 hours - not sure though - will clock it next time I charge.
However if you use a 5V charger which is used by other phones, it will surely take longer.

That's what I suspected, I bought these tablets on ebay and they both came with the smaller 5V chargers. Just wanted to double check, thanks for the reply.
Yea I got a small charger as well from that ebay sale. Using my iPad charger(switched the usb cable). What's weird is after a few minutes on 100% the second I unplugged it could go down to 9x%. I had to leave it for a bit longer for the charge to stick to 100% unplugged.
Well I have tried around 4 or 5 different chargers and with all of them it's taking over 8 hours to fully charge my battery. I don't know what's the deal with this tablet, I bought the OEM genuine charger from eBay and even though it's bigger than the one that came with the device - which is a phone charger; the output voltage is the same 5V.
I tried switching the cable to my girlfriend's iPad charger and it's still taking a while; it's starting to annoy me. Battery life hasn't been an issue though, it lasts over 24 hrs under moderate use - netflix, web browsing, emails, eBook reading...etc. So I don't think it's a bad battery because it holds a charge just fine, it just takes too damn long.
Any ideas, comments or suggestions?
Its not the voltage of the adapter but the output amperage that matters.
The small adapter that came with my ebay JetStream only supplies 200 milliamps (mA) and can take 2 nights to charge fully (i.e., overnight will only charge it to 60%-70%).
As a point of reference, the adapter for my Bluetooth headset is 180 mA.
My BlackBerry charger, which charges my JetStream in a several hours, has an output of 700 mA. Actually, I have never timed it, but it does not take over night to fully charge it.
The AT&T site has a HTC wall charger for the JetStream - does anyone know what the output amperage of the HTC wall charger?

My girlfriend's ipad charger outputs 5v, 2.1A and it still takes a while to charge with that one. All my other chargers are also 5v so i guess im gonna have to get a 9v one to see if i notice any improvement in charging time.

Edit. I'm going to order the 9v 1.67a genuine charger for 15.00. That will solve this problem, as I have the replacement HTC charger that is 5v 1a.
i got the 9v 1.67A travel charger from ebay and it charges my tablet in less than 3 hours. the 5v htc charger that came with my tab takes over 10 hours to charge it.

Yes,your 100% correct. Don't know why the eBay company that shipped these all in the HTC box, didn't put the original charger. I think I'll write to them, although it may not help any.

Hi everyone,
I have just swapped my Galaxy S3 to a HTC One X+ because I couldn't stand Samsung's Touchwiz, and I love Sense 5. The downside is the charging times on this new phone are pretty laughable!
Now I know different cables can give different currents consistently, but I have three cables (one at work, one in car, one at home) that would all deliver 1000mA to my GS3 and I could go from 10% to 100% in about 90 minutes, about 1% per minute, it was great! Battery life on this phone never degraded so I know 1000mA wasn't damaging at all (all GS3s can take a maximum of 1A).
I've now moved over to the HOX+ and it's taking absolutely forever to charge, between 3-4 hours to charge from low. I simply can't wait this long, it's beyond a joke :crying: I've checked Better Battery Stats and my battery usage is about the same as my GS3 when unplugged (about 4-5% per hour) which is fine, so why the difference in charging times?
On my GS3 I had an app which showed me charging current that was specific to GS3s and was very reliable, but I can't seem to find a reliable app for the HOX+, the one I have is Battery Monitor Widget and it reckons I'm charging @ 330mA and I'm currently at 22%, that can't be right can it?
Here is what my phone is says when charging "Charging (USB)".
In the past hour it's done about 20%.

Erm thats the issue. When you charge using the AC (By cable to the electric socket) it says "Charging(AC)" . This usually takes me from 10-100% in about 90 minutes with the HOX+.
Somehow either you are connecting it to a usb hub (laptop or a computer) which is pretty slow compared to the AC, or your phone is mixing up the AC and USB currents. So an advice, use an electric socket and make sure it says "AC" in the power tab. IF so, check the charging time you should find it similar to that of Samsung.
I also think usb 3.0 is faster in charging than 2.0 ? If you are on a new pc with a new motherboard you should find your sockets 3.0, so don't use a usb hub especially if it says usb 2.0 since it will be pretty slow.

No problem! The charger I am currently using is a 5V/2A (for tablets) and has worked fine for every phone previously, giving 1A current.

dont ever use after market charger even though it is for tablet or note samsung...i tried and it is prety damn slow...
so just use your htc/stock charger...it will be fast charge...2hr the most maybe less...

That isn't necessarily true. This charger has been the fastest thing to ever charge my HTC Sensation and GS3, and come to think of it my Nexus 7 charges faster with this charger too. As I said earlier, I had an app on the GS3 which showed it was outputting 1000mA (maximum the GS3 allows) and it would charge that phone in around 90 mins. According to the HOX+ app I have I'm only getting 330mA. Whilst I agree that poorer after-market chargers often give dubious results I'm confident that this isn't the charger's fault.
I'll try the a HTC charger when I get home, but the other night I had it on charge with the HTC charger and it didn't seem to move very quickly.
I'll just say what I know from experience with my HOX+: it only seems to be charging in a normal (and pretty fast) way with the original, from the box, charger.
I tried charging it with the charger from a Desire Z - slow; charger from Desire S - slow; a Nokia charger - slow.
I also noticed that while the Desire S or Z can get charged while being used, when using a car charger (a Nokia one), the HOX+ seems to be using more current, and it ultimately dies. It happened this summer, so this might be an issue.

I think you're right! I tried my wife's HTC One S charger last night (because the HOX+ doesn't come with one) and it changed to Charging (AC) for the first time. I have to say this is a massive let down for me, my car charger saved me so many times with my GS3 (for example I drove to Scotland and used GPS all the way, and the phone still charged right up at the same time) I'm not sure I can handle it not being able to cope with other chargers.
I find this extremely frustrating Is there not a hack to get around this with root?
I'm not sure about the Samsung, but the HTC will only go into the fast/AC Charging mode when it see the Data+ and Date- signals shorted on the USB port. This can be designed into the charger, such as the factory HTC wall charger, or you can buy "charging only" cables and then use any USB charger to get your HTC to go into AC charging mode. These charging only cables are tough to find, but amazon does sell them. Keep in mind that the charging only cables will not transfer data at Data+ and Data- are shorted. Once you are in AC charging mode, the phone takes over and determines how fast to charge. At low battery levels (less than 80% or so), the charging rate can be as high as 1000ma/h or the maximum the charger is rated to deliver. If the charger is rated to deliver more than 1000 ma/hr, the most your phone will draw is 1000 ma/hr.
Now there is another variable, the cable itself. Cheap cables sometimes have too much resistance to pass 1000ma/hr and can be the problem as well.
One other issue is the number of knock off chargers and cables out there. Beware of e_ay. You may not be getting what you think you are.
One final note, Apple designs the ipod to look for the Data+ and Data- signals to not be shorted (opposite of HTC and most android manufacturers). So chargers that are designed to charge Apple devices will need the Charging Only cables to charge android devices in the AC charging mode.
So if I didn't confuse myself, hopefully this will answering some charging questions. I've researched this and have tested many chargers and cables.

If you are doing something with it like playing a game when its charging it takes longer. If you use a cheap or long cable it takes longer. If you use a cheap or low poer charger it takes longer. Best cables I've found are nokia ones. Best chargers samsung. Magnetic charging with dock or cable will be slower than usb.

This tablet charges a lot slower than others anyway as for some odd reason sont chose to use a 1.5a charger, while most seem to use 2.1a.
If the tablet is switched off the charging time will be noticeable faster. I never measure the time, but I assume it will take 2 - 3 hours from 20%

I think maybe they chose a 1.5A charger so that the tablet becomes less hot during use while charging?

I read somewhere else that a full charge takes about 4-5 hours
To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the LG G6 can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.

I have used the charger that came with it (since it was the only USB-C cable I had at the time) and it charged amazingly fast. I bought a Wireless charger as well which is also amazingly fast. It's my first wireless charging experience and I was told it trickle charges so it would be much slower than charging from the cable, but I barely notice a difference in speed at all. I keep checking the phone what seems like every couple of minutes if not seconds and the % has increased by a lot more than I would have imagined. I thought wireless charging to be pointless and a who-cares ordeal, but not that I have experienced it... I don't think I will go back to a device without it (not for a phone at least). For those wondering, I went with the CHOETECH Qi Model T513 wireless charger. Input: DC5V/2A (Max) Output: 7.5W which I purchased from Amazon for only $19.95. That was 50% off at the time I purchased it, but that was only a few days ago so you might want to check on it.
Really? I feel my g6 charges way slower then my S7 edge. I still have it but I'm gonna test this tomorrow.

Really? I feel my g6 charges way slower then my S7 edge. I still have it but I'm gonna test this tomorrow.
Went and picked up this bad boy today. LS variant. Out of the box, had 41%. Using my car charger Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0(yes 2.0) and the included USB C, it charged to 70% in the 20 minute drive back to my house. For using the old QC tech, still charged amazingly fast. I have a QC3.0 39W wall charger that got delivered this afternoon. Will wait til this baby dies and charge her up with that and will report back.
Ive noticed when using a QC 3.0 charger and cable doesnt seem like the g6 is actually charging faster. Its suppose to support QC but its not.
I'm finding this charges a lot slower than my S7 Edge as well. Using the provided cable and charger it takes about 2.5 hours to go from 5% to full which is generally fine, but there isn't a burst and then trickle. I appreciated being able to plug my phone in for a short time when it was low and top it up enough to go out and not worry about it dying. Can't really do that with this one.
I had a power brick laying around and says qualcomm 2.0 and it charge`s really fast, like 1% of battery every min. , but yes with the stock charger brick takes forever to charge.
Using a Xiaomi USB C charger (45W) which supports both UPD 2.0 and QC 3.0, my phone charged very fast.
Mine charges super fast with the supplied charger. I plugged in with 11% yesterday and hit 50% in like 25 minutes.
quick charging is convenient and all, but is there a way to revert to normal charging? I don't want to accelerate my cycles. Thanks.

Use a non-QC charger.
thanks. I'll do that, I have to get extra cables anyway. Although I was wondering if there was a way to hack it phone-wise.

the charger that comes with the device doesn't support QC3, it's a QC2 charger.
so, getting a QC3 charger would defiantly decrease the charging time :good:

Look to the charger specification, if it supports only 5v and 9v then is QC2. QC3 scales on various voltage between 5 and 12 volts.
And yes, the provided charger is QC2, probably the same Found with the G5.
Yeah I take back what I said. The supplied charger does appear to "only" be QC 3. It still seems faster then QC2 though. Maybe it's just in my head. It works for my needs though, I can get almost 50% in like 20.
Charge in airplane mode when you can. When you have no worries of anyone calling or texting. With wifi off as well you'll see a decent jump in fast charging.
purchased by phone a couple of days back and it charged from 5% to 100% in approx 1.40 mins with the stock QC 2.0. I'm damn impressed....
Let me Ask y'all something. Coming from a LG G4 and just Charging My Batteries by a OEM Battery Charger I got 2HRs More of SOT. When I charge via the USB Quick Charger I got the same 3HRs as usual. So I got 5 while charging Slower then the SO-Called Quick Charging. To my understanding Batteries are meant to Slow-Charge rather then Fast
