hey
i want to have a better battery life and i dont know how to improve it..
can u tell me what rom and kernel has best battery life for my galaxy s2?
right now im on wanamlite la4 final and siyah kernel and from 8:00 in the morning to 2:00 in the afternoon its got 10% down is it normal? good? bad?
what is best kernel for battery life? (i dont use vcontrol)
what is the best rom for battery life?
im not gonna buy an extended battery..
thanks
so you drained your phone in couple hours, the question here would be
what were you running cause even if you get the best rom/kernel with the amount of apps or usage you can kill your battery in the same amount of time
i suggest you first find out whats drainning your current setup with betterbatterystats
and if you have wifi/3g and stuff like that on, also the brightness levels, if you have any special app that might be waking up your phone
There's no such thing as the best rom or kernel for battery life because there's too many variables that determine how long you get out of a charge. It depends on your phone setup (what apps you have installed), how you use your phone, as well as the rom & kernel.
Because of these factors, you won't see the same battery life with the rom/kernel combo I use.
You can install BetterBatteryStats (search for the thread on here) and use it to see if there are wakelocks causing your battery to drain when you're not using the phone much, for example.
Whether 10% battery loss in 6 hrs is good or bad again is impossible to answer because of the above factors. On the subject of extended batteries, I do recommend the original Samsung 2000mAh battery, what's not to love about 20% more juice & the phone only a few mm thicker ? (the phone fits in my original case with battery cover removed).

is there a different battery life for modems? or its like kernel and rom like u guys said?
when i will come back home i'll upload another picture with this "betterbatterystats"
thank u all for help!
If you get BetterBatteryStats, let the phone run for a couple hrs (at least) after you install it (overnight, or whenever you think the phone is draining too much when it maybe shouldn't be, like that 8am-2pm period you mentioned in your OP). Don't post anything 10 minutes after you've installed BBS. You need a couple hours data minimum to get an accurate idea of what's happening.

I flashed an aosp ROM which was very unstable and so went back to the Sensation ROM I was using prior to the aosp ROM and all has been well since apart from a sudden drop in battery roughly 3 hours after flashing. I've attached a screen cap. of the battery usage screen shortly after it occurred, should it help anyone identify the problem.

Thanks.
I had the same problem just yesterday, it's due to the fact that when you're flashing your ROMS your battery got miscalibrated. It's a simple thing to fix just follow the instructions from this app on the Play Store (New Market for those of you without the update).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration
Did you reboot the phone in this 3 hours? Coz I see this big step, which is happening when you reboot in recovery or flash something. You need to charge you phone and calibrate you battery

I rebooted after I'd configure the launcher as it was before I tried the aosp rom, but didn't enter recovery or flash anything.
I'll configure the battery and hope it doesn't happen, just wondering if anyone has an idea what caused it?
The exact thing happened to me. When you flashed your phone at a certain battery percentage (lets say 50%) Your new ROM assumes that 50% is the maximum capacity. Therefore, when you rebooted your phone it simply corrected the misreading. Calibrating your battery from the app I provided in my earlier post will delete the batter stats file in your phone and create a new one. Remember to use it when your battery is at 100%, then take your battery down to 0% and charge it back up to 100. I'm currently doing that process now after my phone jumped from 50% down to 20% after I rebooted yesterday.

It`s happening some times, you are not first and not last. Just calibrate you battery and will be fine. Good luck
Ok so I've downloaded the battery calibration app and currently charging my device however the app is displaying the same battery level as my phone.
Does this render the battery calibration a waste of time or is it to be expected?

i thought a manual battery calibration on a i9100 is a waste of time . They didnt calculate it like HTC does. Somebody explained me that this mobile got another System for that but i just forgot what for...
Mine always does this when flashing and shows the sudden drop in battery. Once you charge it back up it should be fine again I'm sure. It always is for me

Yep. You are 100% correct
Calibration apps do absolutely nothing except make you a few bucks poorer if you pay for them :-|
The best thing you can do is charge to 100%, pull the battery for a minute, and put it back in.
Also Ex Tweaks is capable of resetting the fuel gauge chip in genuine Samsung batteries should you be experiencing fuel alerted wakelocks on CM9 or similar.

Hello guys,
I flash twice my Xperia U to ICS and I done it well. At frist one, i made without reset factory and the second one with reset factory.
In both cases I got the same problem.
The ICS is draining battery life hard, even in stand by. No mater what, It consumes about 25% for each 4h. Using hard or using nothing.
I instaled GSam Battery Manager and it says its Kernel and Android OS.

Android version 2.3.7. It lasted 41h and still have 19%.
Please, someone can help? I tried everything i know. No matter if data or wifi is turned on or off, it will consume lot of battery. I tested.
It seens impossible to reach 24h in this situation.
Same here
New ICS su.....
I'd uninstall the task killer and battery defender to begin with, they will drain your battery like crazy.

Try using titanium backup
Freeze all the applications and services which you are not using..
If u do a thorough search in the forumyou wil find the list of services which are safe to freeze
Set maximum cpu usage to 200mhz when screen is off..

I'm not using my U yet, got a sim in it, but still using my old phone for now. I'm running ICS and am getting 12-15 hours battery with less than 10 minutes use. The rest of the time it's in standby, there's a pretty bad battery bug, I've not figured out what causes it. On GB I was getting 15hours medium use (~3 hours) and would still have 40% battery left. Battery info is showing it as awake the whole time it's on standby.
My phone`s original battery lasts for one day in normal use. I bought a 2680mAh battery in eBay and now I can use my phone all day long without any problem.
I am really fed up....my phone cant last upto lunch...i get this batteryife no matter what rom i use !

Really fed up !! :-/
Suggestions welcome
New battery, after awhile batteries will not fully charge, so buy a new battery, would suggest ebay.
( Don't ask me for help, as I couldn't care if your phone explodes, eh!!!)
Thanks..but it has not even been a full year
Doesn't really matter how old your battery , charging and discharging is the issue every battery has a life span, typical useage 8 hrs, heavy useage 3-4 hrs, min useage 14 hrs, thats typical for me. Try a new battery

There are a bunch of tips here.
Usually that kind of drain is caused by an app. Try running a stock ROM for a day or two and see if the issues go away. Or use one of the battery monitoring apps (BetterBatteryStats, SystemPanel Standard, Battery Monitor Widget) to determine which app is causing your drain.
It may take some work on your part to isolate the problem since there is no global solution to battery problems.
ramjet73
If you're rooted you can get a CPU controlling app like SetCpu. If its this bad I would say it has to be your battery though.

I see from you screenshot that the screen is on all the time. My experience has been a good rom will get me 1.5-2 hours of screen on time, an average one will be 1-1.5, and a poor rom less than 1 hour. Right now I'm on agrabren's CM10 with alternate kernel and am getting around 1 hour 20 minutes of screen on time. Seems your usage is typical.
If you have to leave the screen on all the time like that I would suggest plugging in. The screen will take the battery down quickly.
Since two day suddenly the battery drain become too high at standby the BF lost 20% in 1 hours I did factory rest but it didn’t help.
what to do to stop the battery drain?
the bf is on stock and rooted

The battery drain during usage is within the normal, but in standby it is too high, which I do not understand!

Using the battery app see what app or service is keeping your phone awake. That would be my guess as to what the problem is. I would also suggest flashing cpalmers kernel as well, which has been really good for me in limiting awake time.

Install BatteryGuru, give it a couple days to learn how you use your phone, and watch how it saves your battery once the learning period is done. I swear by this app, it brought me from almost a day to about a day and a half as far as battery life is concerned.
I installed the Gsam battery, it shows that "phone radio" was sucking down a vast majority of the battery.

Then you must be in an area where service isn't good and your phone is searching for service which kills the battery quickly. To conserve battery turn on air plan mode and then turn service on when you get into a zone with better coverage. This will help your battery a lot.

My opinion..don't install any more apps than what you only use. You install more apps it will obviously suck more battery. What you do. Root/unlocked the bootloader and install a sense 5 4.1.2 base Rom. I came from stock and since I've installed a sense 5 stock Rom I've notice a big battery saver comparing from the original sense 4+ stock.hopefully that helps.
Thanks all
Strangely none of this helped the battery drain is too high in standby, after resting (no apps installed only stoke apps) and even flashing sense 5 rom still 15% per hour and even in Air plan mode . The strange thing during the use of the phone the drain is normal.
Are others having this? i mean i go through a full battery about twice a day.... I cant figure out what is draining it so bad. i have used WLD, greenify, and bootmanager to try to figure it out..... None of my apps are ever on the battery list, and screen is around 50% usually with android system and android OS always being up the list. I always thought it was my bad signal strength at work but i had two weeks off and my phone NEVER lasted even close to a day.
I have factory reset once but loaded my same apps backup.
I heard someone else mention that the sprint has this weird battery drain that is explainable and was wondering if others see that also.
I am on the search for a 6000+ mah battery i know it will have a replacement back plate but i don't want the whole case thing like the 9000 zero lemon.
Sounds like kernel wakelock
As of the last two days i have also been experiencing much faster battery drain. Have had the phone since launch and never had this problem.
I do not use the device in excess. Very few if any phone calls per day, some texting and gmail, occasional skim of xda, huffpo, phandroid apps and very light Twitter use if bored and not near the computer.
Battery has dipped 5% since writing this post...that's all of 1-2 minutes in use.
Sent from my LGLS990 using XDA Free mobile app
That's not normal for a Sprint LG G3. A couple of questions:
Have you looked at the battery stats page to see what app(s) are using the most battery? I'd suggest taking a screen shot of that page and posting it here.
Have you tried rebooting the phone? If there's an app or process running out of control that will often clear it up.
Are you rooted? If so, install better battery stats so we can get a better look at what's eating the battery.
Finally, you might want to take a look at this thread: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...android-system-eating-your-battery-check.html
While it's unlikely you have the same problem I did, the tools and techniques I used to debug it might be useful for you.
Gonna wait for some custom roms to see if the problem just goes away.

Dude the battery app should show you what is causing it. Something has gone rouge!!! I just had my weather app running in the background using GPS for 5 hours, yeah my battery went way down. Freeze some BS apps. I routinely get 30 hrs plus on a single charge. Not the phone itself something you are using is causingi it.
As requested, my craptastic battery info. Brightness was 83.
