Hello there!
I am dealing with a pretty strange issue!
I flashed my Neo V with a pre-rooted version of the .62 firmware, and then I ran a batch file to delete some of my stock apps I didn't want!
It also deleted the Conversation.apk, but I extracted it from the .62 firmware zip into the system/apps and set the right permissions!
Everything works fine, but the "Cost Saving" option in the Messages app doesn't exist - the Messages app works fine, but I really need that option, since I am texting in Greek.
Does any of you know which system apk is connected with the Cost Saving option, so I can restore it? Or can anyone suggest trying something else?
Maybe its region related "conversation.apk"??
So extract it right ftf file.

Never thought about it...
Maybe you're right!
Do youmby any chance know where will I find the Conversations.apk which is included in the .62 firmware for Greece?
Or will I find the firmware, so I can extract it?

Its only my "guessing" because I'm never saw any "cost" option in conversation app and I'm using always "global".
And yes you can extract ftf file.

I found the solution!
In data/data/com.sonyericsson.conversations/shared_prefs, I opened the com.sonyericsson.conversations_preferences.xml and changed the line:
<boolean name="semc_pref_key_character_conversion" value="false" />
to
<boolean name="semc_pref_key_character_conversion" value="true" />
I rebooted, and the Cost Saving was enabled - although it wasn't visible in Messages -> Settings

How can I do that? Do I need root access to do that? I had this option in my last official rom, now it's gone...
Never heard about cost saving option..

What do you mean? I have the same model of phone as you and Google talk works fine over 3G/4G/LTE no problem..
Could this be something that AT&T is doing? I am on Rogers in Canada...
He means video chat over WiFi requirement. If you're rooted you just need to edit a file with sqeditor.

Doh, My bad.
I will look around for sqeditor too.. video chat would be something I would also likely want to enable..
thanks for the info!
edit: instead of the Gui SQLite Editor, I chose to isntall sqlite3 since it was missing for some reason.. (guessing that not all builds get it).. anyhow there is an app in the ap store called 'sqlite isntaller for root'.. once installed I just did the following through terminal emulator.. I guess I could have done it through adb as well...
Code:
$ su
# sqlite3 /data/data/com.google.android.*gsf/databases/gservices.db "insert into overrides (name, value) values ('gtalk_vc_wifi_only', 'false')";
# reboot
Great info here.. very glad I remembered about this site and came back now that I have an Android device I actually use..

I killed them all, apart from the actual facebook app. Don't need any of the other junk. I only check fb when I want to read it, I certainly don't want it telling me something has happened every five seconds lol

Everything with "facebook" or "fb" was killed by me.
Timescape also joint facebook on its way to the funeral.
Moreover I deleted also some other system apps I never intend to use.
But all except for facebook were backuped by Titanium Backup.
So if I'm funny I can also delete the backups.

It worked for a couple of days...
Open a file explorer. I'm using Root Explorer
Navigate to: System\App
Locate S-voice_Android_phone_NLI.apk
Long press it until a menu pops up.
Select Permissions.
Check the boxes as shown in the first post. Done.
By the way, I reverted back the original S-Voice as the new one no longer seems to work. Maybe this will clear up after the release of S4.
Got overexcited with deleting system apps to free up RAM...
now I can t log in to Gmail and my Youtube is force closing when I try to sign in.

Try neutron build.prop. And uninstall any taskiller if any.
The new Google keyboard has been already extracted from the system dump of the dev preview for Nexus and it seems to work. It's a flashable zip, if that doesn't work try moving files manually.
