Recently I downloaded 6 gb of songs for offline play, but I couldn't find them in the cyanogenmod music app, which I wanted to play them through.
Now, Google Music says there is no offline music, even though it is still on there. I know it's on there because my sd card has 7 gb used.
Where is the google music folder, what is it called, and why can't I get to my music?

F:\Android\data\com.google.android.music\cache\music
There will be files named 213.mp3 ... those will be the music files.
The tags will be remove from the .mp3 files though so you will see Track Title= "213.mp3"...
So, you will not know what you are playing..

Yeah, pisses me off that this is how Google handled local caching. I wish pinning music put it right in your music folder with preserved hierarchy and naming metadata.

Yup. I'm running Eclipse 2.0.4, but my "external" SD card is always mounted to /mnt/sdcard. I do believe under CM7, it was the same way for me.
Hi,
same problem here, downloaded a song offline and no files in the folder mentioned above...
Any more hints how to get a file to put it on my mp3 player?
Thanks, Kusie

Can always just go online to google paly website. Sign in same way as play store/gmail account. Download music to pc from there. or just download to phone. Make a bookmark on phone homescreen of that page with all of your music for ease of access . Click it whenever you wanna dl the music you bought.
Wrong
No thats not right...
You must have root on you mobile phone and then download the free "Root Browser" from play store.
Then you go:
data/data/com.google.android.music/files/music
Before you can play it with normal players (not google play music) you must copy the files into the sd card oder ext. Sd card.
And you must rename it because it is like "233.mp3".
Only works with the offline music from Google play music
Thats it!
Have fun peace!

Hi All,
I've been looking for the install location where MarketPlace installs apps?
Can someone help?
I can not find any apps I have installed in:
/system/app
/data
I have rooted my X10
Please help if you can
/data/app
/data/app-private
Well this may be "odd"..
In both of those locations.. They're empty.
I have installed about 12 marketplace apps.
Is this normal? :S
You're sure you're rooted then?
Code:
# cd /data/app
cd /data/app
# ls -l
ls -l
-rw-r--r-- system system 637063 2010-06-28 22:14 stericson.busybox.apk
-rw-r--r-- system system 4201344 2010-06-28 22:14 com.google.android.apps.maps.apk
-rw-r--r-- system system 823161 2010-06-28 22:14 com.dropbox.android.apk
...
I have root.
I am actually redoing all root steps again.
Is there a GUI file explorer that will let me see what is in /data/apps?
The basic one's show nothing.
..obviously you need a file explorer capable of escalating to root privileges first...
I'm having the darndest time trying to figure out a certain issue I'm having. For some reason I cannot edit or delete or even write to certain folders of my internal storage. I have searched the forums for fixes, and the common sense fix keeps coming up, permissions.
In Terminal Emulator I am looking at the permissions for all the folders on my internal /sdcard and they disply as:
Code:
drwxrwxr-x
as expected. Yet when I try to delete say for example /sdcard/Download it tells me the folder is Read Only.
I even chmod to change the permissions and they just dont change. The reason I use the Download folder as an example is because I cannot download any files, like an updated ROM from any browser, it just fails. It is extremely annoying. My Prime is rooted, unlocked, and running Virtuous S .28
To make matters worse, I am deployed to Afghanistan and my laptop recently died, so all I have are my Prime and Desire HD phone to work with.
If anyone has any ideas on how to resolve this I'm all ears.
Many thanks in advance.

TrailerParkKid,
I'm having similar issues. The /sdcard folder is a sym-linked to /storage/sdcard0. /storage/sdcard0 is virtualized from /data/media. I noticed that in this folder the user\group is root\root with permissions -rwx------.
I think we have permissions issues in this directory. If I change the permissions to -rwxrwxrwx then things start working, however I don't like that answer.
I was unable to fix it by changing any permissions through TE. I was finally able to use another device to download the Stock JB ROM modded with the new bootloader and the current version of TWRP. The new version of TWRP allowed me to use my external SD card to flash, so I used the Full Wipe flash to completely wipe the internal SD card. It was a last resort, but I didn't really have a choice. Since then I have been able to download files without issue.

TrailorParkKid,
Good to see you got it working. There's always more than one way to fix things. I suspect the Full Wipe of internal SD card probably set the permissions up correctly so that subsequent downloaded files would inherit the correct settings. I did that as well, but then I also restored my backed up files. Those files and directories then got the wrong permissions.
My solution was the following 3 lines executed from /data/media/. Hope this also assists someone else googling...
find . -type d -exec chmod 775 {} ";"
find . -type f -exec chmod 664 {} ";"
find . -exec chown media_rw:media_rw {} ";"
For some reason I cannot find neither of Email.apk, Exchange2.apk, EmailGoogle.apk and Exchange2Google.apk under /system/app on my S3 Android 4.3 (stock rom).

Either search all of /system or use a package manager that shows you installed applications and their APKs' location (e.g. Link2SD does that.)
This thing has been a thorn in modding my phone ever since I rooted it - root has no read access to sdcard0 at all.
Whenever the external sdcard is mounted, root can only access sdcard1 after adding media_rw group to android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, which works OK most of the times but there are some apps that rely on working with an external sdcard and root together unfortunately. Whenever the external sdcard is unmounted, same things happen with it - no access as root whatsoever. (user has full access)
Something of particular interest is the output of ls -l:
Code:
[email protected]_M3:/storage $ ls -l
drwxrwx--x root sdcard_r 1970-01-01 01:00 sdcard0
drwxrwx--x root sdcard_r 2015-08-10 02:48 sdcard1
[email protected]_M3:/storage $ su
[email protected]_M3:/storage # ls -l
drwx------ root root 2015-08-10 02:47 sdcard0
drwxrwx--x root sdcard_r 2015-08-10 02:48 sdcard1
[email protected]_M3:/storage #
and I don't really know where to begin to fix it. The stock ROM is doomed from the start with this it seems...
For the record; I'm using SuperSU and I have tried formatting my (2GB) sdcard to FAT32 and it didn't work.
Just restore the file tonoriginal data and use an app to do this.
Foldermount will work best.
Try this with thd help of this app ypu can read both sd cards at same time and keep game heavy data on sdcard as well
Sent from my SM-G355H using XDA Free mobile app
lolwhat file are you even talking about? Nothing has been touched there and that output of ls -l shows the permissions aren't as they're supposed to be for root.
FolderMount isn't exactly the thing I'm looking for. I need to fix permissions for root's access to the sdcard0 folder, plain and simple. For instance - I can't install Viper4Android because of this (though oddly I did manage to do it earlier, some black magic I did and don't remember lol). It wouldn't bother me if the sdcard folder in the ramdisk wasn't linked to the sdcard0 folder or if the permissions weren't tampered with and they were it seems.
I feel like as if I would have an easier time porting Cyanogenmod to my device than figuring this out...
Hello.
I recently switched from a Galaxy S2 running CM 10.2 (Android 4.3.1) to a Nexus 5 running 6.0.1 (stock rooted).
My goal was to migrate all my WhatsApp data (history, media, etc.) over to the new device. Restoring the history was no problem using WhatsApp's builtin backup/restore functionality.
I then proceeded to copy all the .../WhatsApp/Media/ folders over to the new phone, however, I still got an error message stating that the file could not be found when trying to open any (old) received images or videos from within WhatsApp.
Upon further investigation, it seems like WhatsApp is (or was?) storing the absolute path to every individual media file in its database, e.g. on my S2: /storage/sdcard0/WhatsApp/Media/WhatsApp Images/IMG-20140813-WA0020.jpg
It just so happens that the /storage/sdcard0 symlink doesn't exist on my Nexus 5 and hence WhatsApp can't access older files since the links are broken.
So I figured all I needed to do was create the /storage/sdcard0 symlink, like this:
Code:
ln -s /sdcard /storage/sdcard0
Code:
[email protected]:/ # ls -l /storage
drwx--x--x root sdcard_rw 1970-07-07 17:59 emulated
lrwxrwxrwx root root 2015-12-30 16:26 sdcard0 -> /sdcard
drwxr-xr-x root root 1970-07-09 08:57 self
Unfortunately, WhatsApp still couldn't access my old media files (not to mention that the symlink was gone after a reboot).
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!

Make sure whatsapp has storage permissions?
Also try to symlink directly where /sdcard goes, not symlink to another symlink
