[Q] Automatic Theme Switcher? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone one know if there is an app out there that can automatically switch your launcher theme every X hours? I currently am running Bionix-V 1.3.1 Fishman mod (Final 2) and use Go Launcher EX. I have several themes for the launcher, but I also use Zedge to update the wallpaper every hour for some variety. However, when the wallpaper changes, it may not match the theme, so I end up applying a new Go theme (which also applies the wallpaper for that particular theme), then I have to go back into zedge and re-apply the wallpaper from zedge. I know -- it doesn't really make any sense, but I get tired of staring at the same theme/wallpaper. If there is an app (it might have to be launcher-specific) that allows the themes to rotate automatically, I would probably stop using zedge altogether.

Anyone?
Apparently I am the lone Android user among the millions worldwide that cares about automatically switching themes. How sad.

Not at all. It's just that, as far as I can tell and have seen, such a thing doesn't exist. You would need either a plugin for an existing launcher, or such a thing built into the launcher itself. Your best bet is to contact the developers of each launcher with the suggestion. It's a good idea and I'm sure at least one of the developers would give it a shot.

Thanks
Thanks, Johnny. In a way, I was kind of hoping I was just bad at searching.

[Q] Themes and icons

Having just moved from an iPhone im still learning here so bear with me. It seems as installing custom themes and/or customizing app icons is not as easy as installing winterboard and throwing a theme up. I'm a big buuf/mattahan fan and I've had that theme on my iphone since my 2G. After doing some research it seems that there are a couple of ways to change an app icon. First I could open up the .apk and insert the new icon, then resign the package and put it back on the phone. Second there seems to be an app called metamorph which is similar to winterbord but only works on certain phones.
Am I missing some easier way? I'm willing to spend some time on a package that I could share with others if I knew how.
Thanks

Metamorph does work on the vibrant if you were wondering
Some theme makers also make update.zip's that you can flash from recovery, but most prefer metamorph because its more universal.
also if you use a replacement launcher like ADW launcher which is on the market, then you can download themes from the market and simply choose them from the launchers menu.
In fact I beleive ADW launcher has a buuf theme.
theres also a keyboard app on the market called better keyboard that has a buuf theme (better keyboard is a paid app though)

[Q] How to make the theme change automatically?

I noticed that there are 7 colored sony themes in my st15. is there any tool or app available to make these cycle daily so that each day has a different color?
I'm using sony's home screen on the latest fw unrooted.
thanks
is this possible??
maybe possible with some script but no one will ever waste their time on making such scripts.
im looking forward to this idea, its fascinating.
not very helpful reply metalrawk
not sure about themes yet, but the default wallapers are located in /system/etc/customization/content/com/sonyericsson/wallpaperpicker/wallpapers.
there is an app called "wallpaper changer" by j4velin that can automatically cycle wallpapers from a file which i'm about to try out.
If anyone has any suggestions or knowledge regarding the built in theme manager though it would be nice to know if there could be an elegant way of automatically controlling it... i got the idea from an old psp where the theme changed every month or so.
thanks for any ideas,

[Q] Launcher & Wallpaper resolution not playing well

To begin with, I'm far from new to Android, just new to Samsung and the Note.
Also - I know I'm not the only one with this problem but I haven't run across a solution yet. I can take and image I want to use as a wallpaper and, on the lock screen and the Touch whiz home screen and it looks exactly like I want it to. But, since I'm one of those folks who dislikes the fact that I can't swap out apps on the TW launcher bar, I slap my own launcher on the Note to make it mine again. Unfortunately, then comes the annoying part.......
Whatever photo I put up as wallpaper looses resolution and seems to explode in size so that only about 1/4 of the original wallpaper/ photo is visible and what's left is very blurry. I know this isn't limited to just one launcher - I've tried ADW, Launcher Pro, Nemus, Go Launcher, Holo, and a few more I can't remember the names of right now. And they all give me the same problem.
So far I've changed the format of the wallpaper photo to .png or .jpeg and back again, tweaked the size and resolution of the picture, dug through XDA and a few other forums fort wisdom, and used harsh language on my Note - all to no avail. So, can anyone tell me what I'm missing or if there's any hope for me at all? I'm rooted stock 2.3.6 and would prefer, for various reasons, to stay that way for now. But, at this point I'm willing to consider options if all else fails since I'm getting quite annoyed by this.
Thanks for any help/ insight!
Use the Quickpic app to set the wallpaper.
Thanks! I'll give that a shot.

Couple questions about my new Galaxy S3...

So far I love the phone. This is the only phone I've had in a long time where I haven't wanted to load a custom rom the day I got it. There's just one thing I don't know if there's an option for, and something else I'd like to change that I hope it easy being rooted.
1. Is there a way to make the vibrate patterns apply to text messages? So far they only seem to apply to incoming calls.
2. The little dots on the bottom that show what page I'm on. Can I get rid of those or move them to the top of the screen?
ok, there's a 3rd I guess. The green phone icon, is there an EASY way to change that? Not thrilled about a couple others either like the contacts one. Don't know if there's a simple way to go in and swap out the image file for a different one or not. On my Galaxy tablet I was able to go in and create custom icons on the computer and use a program on the tab to select what program I wanted it to open, but that was a long time ago and I forgot how to do it, or what programs I used. If that's what it comes down too though, guess that's what I'll have to do. Just wanted to know if there was an easier way. I don't mind the icons themselves, just the colors. Not a fan of green or orange. Blue would be nice.
Thanks in advance for any help on these. Besides this stuff, absolutely LOVE the phone...
hope this helps...
1. I don't see any place in the touchwiz messaging app's settings to customize the vibrate pattern for texts... some possible solutions would be a custom ROM with the stock google messaging app rather than the touchwiz app, or somewhat less extreme would be to install a 3rd party texting client from the play store and see if that setting is present in that app.
2. I'm not sure if the touchwiz launcher allows you to hide or remove those little indicator dots, but you can open up a million options for homescreen launcher settings by installing a 3rd party launcher from the play store like Nova Launcher or Apex Launcher. Currently I'm using Apex and it is great (still rocking the stock experience until CM9 gets a stable release).
3. As for changing icons like the phone, calendar, calculator, etc. This is another thing that can be customized using a launcher like Apex.

1. Have heard others complain of this issue, so I don't believe that there a way to do it. Don't use that feature myself so...
2. Again, I'm not sure, but I think you're stuck with them. You could use a launcher that allows more customization. I like apex.
3. Download an app called "icon changer" and a icon pack or theme with the icons you would like to use. You can then open the application and select the app you want to change the icon of and pick a new icon. It will create a shortcut of the app with the custom icon on your home screen. Great for changing icons on your home screen if you want to remain using TW. If you decide to use an alternate launcher like apex this feature is already integrated and you have the ability to switch the icons within the app drawer as well.

Thanks for the quick replies. Trying to stay away from a custom rom on this phone. There's just nothing I'm really unhappy with that much. There's always something that goes wrong when I load one. Not saying there's ANYTHING wrong with the roms themselves, there's just not that much on this phone I'm not happy with, unlike phones I've had in the past. I'm coming from a Desire.
Thanks for the Icon Changer app also. Changing them on my tablet was a pain in the butt, this was nice and simple. Any way you know the dimensions of the icons though so I can create some of my own?

[Q] The Themer Advantage - What is it?!!?

Hi All,
I've been using Themer for quite some time, adding the odd widget here and there and changing the configuration of other people's themes, but I now want to design my own homescreen.
The Themer webpage basically says 'use Zooper and/or the Everything widgets' and I can see that they're extremely configurable. However, when I look at the themes on the XDA thread and on mycolorscreen.com, a lot of them seem to have been built using a one of the other major launchers, such as Apex or Nova, and with widgets from other sources (Beautiful Widgets, ADW, UCCW, etc.).
So my question is this: what advantages are there to using Themer if everything works fine using Apex or Nova? I can understand that Themer is great for sharing themes and for using someone else's themes on my phone (and thank you for all of those!), but if I want something that's just for me – would I be better off just designing it in Apex and leaving it at that?
I was planning to have various elements 'slide open' by using the 'jump to screen x' command within Themer, which is a neat trick and looks very slick, but it seems the same sort of thing can be achieved by using PopUp Widget.
Is there perhaps some system advantage to using Themer? Does it take all the elements used and then 'flatten' them in order to streamline processing? If so, I can understand the advantage.
Please don't think this is in any way a complaint or criticism against Themer – I just really want to know!
Thank you for your help,

Hi Miles,
Very good question actually. Themer's main goal is to allow people to apply beautiful-looking themes in a few seconds. I've created over 200 videos on the MyColorScreen YouTube channel, with many of those homescreens (using Apex/Nova/UCCW/etc) taking over 30 minutes to configure, and that's if you know what you're doing. However as you mentioned, some people just want to make their own theme, disregarding any of the themes available. If that's the case, many people will stick to Nova or Apex because they're both good launchers that have many years of experience behind them.
So here's the deal - if you want a launcher that will do everything you need - stick with Apex. However, if you want a launcher that you will allow you to include neat looking wallpapers/widgets/icons without any hassle - go with Themer. Even you don't enjoy the themes, they're great for getting ideas. Themer is still in beta, therefore more features and improvements shall arrive soon!
Good luck
- Marco
