It's possible that it could work through a hack.
But AT&T will be using Isis. Not Google Wallet.

I got it to install and get past the loading screen, but it tells me that the hardware isn't compatible.
How funny, I was just about to post this. I checked on mine and it doesn't come up in Market.
What ROM are you using?

no FC here. Just the hardware not supported message. Any one think its possible to mod the apk so that it would be usable?
Entropy... fix it.

I'm confused now. There are other threads that state that Google Wallet is not possible on the Galaxy S2, or was it just because AT&T didn't allow it till now? The error message is weird, too, since it says that my device is not supported yet but it also says Hardware not supported, so I'm not sure what that means now.

It started fc for me like crazy upon restarts. Had to uninstall it.
Running CM7.1 nightly 20, I can install and run it, but I can't start NFC. I don't get the incompatible message.
People need to read the article in more detail. Does it say anything about devices other than the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus?
Right now, ONLY Nexus phones have the complete NFC stack required for GW support. Other devices only have partially working NFC stacks.
All that happened is that the carrier filter blocking GW on the Nexus S and GNex if you had an AT&T SIM was removed - probably because owners of both devices were quite adept at getting around that filter.

Ditto. I am able to install and start the app. But it wouldn't start without NFC enabled and so there is no other option than to exit the app.

Yeah...so much for creating a "standard" for mobile payment. No wonder the carriers, like Sprint, pulled out from Google Wallet and joining other standards instead.

Most likely because AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile are all working together on their own payment system (ISIS). So, while wallet may be available on Nexus phones in the future, I wouldn't hold my breath for it to become widespread on other carrier modded phones.
So in the meantime does anyone use another NFC capable app for payments? I've seen a couple in the market but haven't tried anything other than installing wallet. Odd that they'd let me install it but then tell me it won't work..most apps seem to only download if they work on a particular phone.
nope Google wallet will die when iris is launched in a few months

To edit the build.prop you have to use adb to push it in recovery. You can't write to /system when you have s-on and that is where build.prop is located

Yeah... I thought that all US carriers, with the possible exception of Sprint, blocked the use of Google wallet as they are all developing their own ecosystem for it. This is not fact, but what I've come to understand.
I think in order to get wallet to work on the Verizon Siii, in touchwiz, it is first necessary to flash a file pulled from a sprint Siii which enabled the secure element.
I wonder if we need a file to enable the secure element also? Maybe someone could pull it from a nexus 4 since they have the same soc?
Interestingly, if the Verizon Siii is running AOSP, the secure element file does not need to be flashed. I don't know if the is because AOSP includes it by default, or if the development team is adding it to their build of AOSP.

Do you have a secure element sim card? It sounds like the Rezound users are making progress IF they have the sim card designed for ISIS with the secure element?
I live in Salt Lake, one of the test markets for ISIS, but I don't think VZW will give me a sim card for ISIS since the DNA isn't on their list?
I'm going to stop by tonight or in the morning to look at chargers, I'll ask ...

Yeah, I edited the build.prob and used the edited Wallet .apk and it gave me the same error about the secure element.
I hope somebody can figure it out. I think if we get a dump of the j butterfly and pull and push the files to the DNA we might be able to get it to work.

S-off, now for fixing wallet and hulu plus

So,
I'm reaching out to smarter people then I.
Now that we got S-Off anybody have ideas on how to fix the nfc for wallet or Isis? Also get hulu plus working?
I know a majority of wallet/isis is getting the secure SIM, but I know Isis has a root check. How can we trick it?
Hulu plus seems to not like unlocked devices due to DRM keys being removed. Can we relock and still keep root now? Or how to we trick this app? Its been done on other sense devices.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda premium
I would totally love this to happen
From what I understand s-off basically makes it easier to flash complete packages like boot.img and ROMs together
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Right but it also allows you to do things like relock and keep root.
I'm not one of the people who think s-off is a magic pill and will bring aosp, just curious if anyone has given the apps any thought.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda premium
Word on the street is we don't have a secure element, and Wallet needs one... so if that's true, it won't happen no matter what we unlock.
I know we can get a secure element sim

If you want HULU Plus to work, just email the devs at [email protected] send them a pic of the error if you can then they will ask you to try some things and if that doesnt work, just advise them and the will send you a questionaire to fill out, Just tell them its stock and not rooted.
I emailed them and went back and forth with a tech to find the issue and now it works fine

I've got a secure element sim, but unfortunately, Google Wallet doesn't seem to look for a secure element on the sim
And even if it did, I think only VZW has the key to the secure element. So Google Wallet stays locked out. Since the sim is provided by VZW, they can argue that they don't need to provide the key to 3rd parties, keeping the monopoly to themselves.
Any chance we can trick isis' root check? I'd be Ok using isis at this point

I actually did a fastboot oem lock. That gave me relock, I then flashed the mod found on the original development dna forum and got locked.

There isn't a secure element in the dna. So that won't work.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
I did it on the Evita one x which doesn't either and got it past the insecure element error.
Copy pasting the libs will cause force closing, but if you replace the libs in whatever ROM you use and flash them it works perfectly. Then its just a matter of editing build.prop or the apk to actually get it to register the account.

Not sure what "works perfectly" means to you, but VZW has blocked NFC from the app, so it is pretty much useless. If you want wallet to actually work, you need to use the guide for the work around.
Sent From My Sticky Note, Too?
Maybe I should clarify the op. Going through the setup worked perfectly, but like it has been said, it's pretty useless if the bump to pay doesn't work.

Since this is about an app, hopefully a MOD will close this thread and any further discussion can go to the active wallet app thread that will have better clarified information.

Thanks for the clarification boosted and okoboji. I figured NFC wasn't going to be working with the official app, so I'm sticking with the work around until then.
