[Q] Email Account - Sony Tablet S

How to delete the email registered during setup because I want to change to another account. Will the original email contacts be erased if I change to another email address?
Many thanks.

I don't know if you can delete it via the menu, but anyway, a wipe is required. If you have it rooted, use Titanium Backup just in case.
And if your contacts are synced with your Google Account, you will lose those, so be sure to put them on your SIM/other service.
And yes, email contact swill be also deleted.

I think you can delete a file with root explorer

@kadji: How you would do this ...?
@Kermit33
What kind of email app do you mean? Original GMail or Email or K9 mail?
The contacts on a android phone are synchronized with your Gmail (google) account.
Your phone is bound to one google account. If you want to change this account, it will have a massive impact on your phone (mail, calendar, contacts, market).
If you mean only a mail account on email app, you can delete a account in the settings of this app or add one. This will have no impact on your contacts.

Man if he want to remove Google account he have to delete a specify file with root explorer, i dont remember the name but i can google later

accounts.db should do it. The telephone will create a new accounts.db. or he can rename framework-res.apk to framework-res.apk.bak and then rename it back again to framework-res.apk. That should also do the trick.
At least these to worked on my Xperia Arc. Havn't tried them on my Arc S nor Tablet S
I have a guide for it here on my computer.

Is it not much easier to delete the account via
'settings -> Accounts & Sync ->'
than open the account and choose 'Delete Account' in the upper right corner?

It's the email built-in of the tablet, I think I can delete it in the Setting - Account and Sync.
Thanks to all for your advices.

Yeah, settings -> Accounts & Sync -> Select account and click Remove Account should clear out the account and all the sync settings. Then you can choose Add Account and add your new one.

The reason I want to delete the original email, a gmail, is that the pictures in my Picasa are all uploaded to the tablet automatically! Is there a way to bypass this or there is some setting I need to do with the tablet/gmail account?
P.s. I can't delete those picasa album in the tablet.

@kermit33
I know this problem ... I have had the same in the past ...
I was confused wherefrom my smartphone 'knows' same very old pictures ...
The reason was ... from Picasa sync ...
(I have a German tablet, so I hope my translation of the needed steps are correct)
Go to ....
Settings -> Accounts & sync
choose your google account withe a "touch"
than you will find a list with checkbox and all google services
one of them should be 'Picasa Web-album'
Disable the checkbox .. and is done.

Thanks obicom.
I have tried that already but the Pisaca pictures are still in the tablet and can't be deleted. I think the pictures are synced to my device when I first set up my email account.

Hmm ... you should be able to delete the pictures
Do you have root access an a tool like Root Explorer?
The pictures are physical files on your sd card and must be deletable.
Maybe not from the gallery but with file explorer?
Could you try again and post the error message?
Keep me informed please.

In Settings -> Accounts and Sync -> Gmail Account, you can just uncheck the Picasa Web Albums options and they should stop syncing automatically.

If a contact is categorized as a 'Google contact', which means its synced, then deleting it from your phone means to delete it in the Google Contact service.
Syncing in this case does not mean to restore a deleted contact, but to delete the contact on every device that is synced to your Google Contact service.
If you keep seeing that contact coming back, then there must be some thing wrong with your settings.
can u plz explain how to make a contact google contact
You should be asked when you are about to create the contact. However for an existing contact, I don't know whether there is a way to do that.

[Q] Google Contacts

Where are the Google contacts stored?
The only place I can see them is when I am creating a message and tap add contact. There seems to be all the contacts from my Gmail account many of which do not have phone numbers and some of which I wouldn't want certain family members to see.
I have tried every setting in contacts and accounts I can find but no luck. I have cleaned up my Gmail account contacts and did a sync hoping that would over write them but no luck.
Any help is appreciated.

Google Contacts are stored on your phone and Google server if I am not wrong.
Regards.
By default Gmail adds anyone you email to your contacts. This used to be so annoying to most people.
Sign into Gmail on computer, go to settings, general, "create contacts for auto-complete" and check off "I'll add contacts myself".
Now go to your Contacts and start deleting the ones you don't want.
As for where they are stored, they are stored on Google's servers and not necessarily on your phone. Any changes you make either on your phone or via the web are pushed and synced I'm real time.

Yep cleaned up the contacts on the gmail account. turned of the auto add. Did a sync still have them on the phone.

I know they are stored on the phone and gmail account but where on the phone??
Can you see all the contacts when you hit the contacts tab in the phone menu?
If not then from within contacts Menu, More, Display Options and select the google contacts, under that there is a few options of what to display.
Why not try this last resort, remove your Google account on the phone and add it again.

Now I can rest easy.
Thank you very much
No problem, glad to help, found out the hard way too!

How to get contacts autofill in gmail
Hi,
I use viewsonic tablet with android 2.2 running. I have a gmail application installed . Whenever I try to send a new email or take a picture and want to send through gmail instantaneously, I get up to emal "To " field. In there it expects me to type the whole email address again. This is even true if I want to send it to my own gmail id. I mean to say that autofill of email addresses doesn't work. All my contacts is synched with gmail account and that show all the contacts which is available through my email account.
Is there a way to get around and get this autofill option enabled?
Thanks
Ravi

[Q] Gmail Contacts

Hi
Whenever I flash a firmware (wipe) google syncs the contacts from my gmail account
I really don't maintain any contact list in Gmail. So what is being synced automatically for the first time is the list of all contacts form Gmail (who ever had sent me email / or to whom i had sent mails)
Is it possible to stop this sync? because I have some 1000's of contacts info which are not relevant for my phone
On the contrary are there any good suggestions to maintain / sync contacts between Gmail and Phone?
Every time after sync I have to go and delete all the contacts then restore from KIES
Any help would be appreciated
thank you
Hi there. When you first open your phone after a wipe, you are required to fill in some information (gmail, wifi keys, etc.). There is something you can do.
Start it without sim card, do not enter any wifi keys and enter all your info normally. then go to settings, under accounts and synch options, and deselect auto synch for your gmail account. Then you can place your sim card.
Edit: the reason i mentioned to remove the sim card is that it can still synch under a 3g network.
I hope i helped, can't tell you the exact names of the options as my gs2 is being repaired.
OK thanks. Will try. BTW is there any simple way to manage gmail contacts with android contacts? h

By "manage" you mean edit or merge them?
Edit / add new / etc
Should be easy: create a subfolder in Google contacs (e.g. "phone-contacts" as I did), store all phone contacts there and synch only this subfolder ................

[Q] Unsyncing gmail account in Sony Xperia U

Was trying to sync the device directly to my system in order to transfer pictures from the handset to desktop. However when I failed to do so, I decided to directly mail the images through gmail and synced my account through the gmail app. Now i find that the app directly opens my email account every time without any confirmation/password etc. and this can be seen by anybody (my friends handle my phone a lot). I am struggling to remove the account completely (when I go through settings/accounts and sync/manage accounts and press remove account I am asked to restore to factory settings) Is there any other way to unsync it?

You can use this one https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sp.protector.free
This way you will be able to protect each app you want.

Just download app lock software from Google play n lock the apps with password or patterns which you don't want anyone to open...
But you can't remove your gmail account without Factory restore...

[Q] Removing Contacts from Gmail?

Whenever I configure my Google account on any new phone all the contacts are automatically copied from Gmail contacts to device phonebook.
These contacts are synced between my old phones and Gmail and are with Google servers.
I can delete all contacts from Gmail app in order to stop this auto contacts sync.
My question here is if I do so will it delete all contacts from device as well. I have unchecked auto sync-up data option in contacts settings. And how
to stop this contacts sync between phone and Gmail.
I back up contacts as svf and export to SD card, and I don’t want my contacts to on Google servers.

If you have disabled the auto-sync (Settings > Google account > Uncheck Contacts) contacts won't be synchronized but you can do what you want on Google servers it will never modify the phone data.
FYI if sync is ON and if you delete a contact on Google servers (from the webpage) it will be deleted on your device too.

When I was configuring my new devie I copied all my contacts using a vcf file which I got from my previous device, but later when auto-sync
happened, there were multiple contacts for same name.
Here I would like to know if I delete all contacts from Google server (logging in through webpage) and doing a sync, will it delete those contact as
well created by copying from vcf. I mean those contacts did not came from my Google account so that have nothing to do with Google sync.
