I'm new to this forum, as i'm new with android based devices and i've come to the conclusion that reading a lot of threads regarding my problem just makes things worst. So here's what's happening with my tablet and hopefully someone will help me, because i dunno what else to do.
I was reading this forum this morning on how to root and change themes and roms and develop. So the first thing i did, i rooted just like here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239185 . everything went fine, no trouble in the process, but after this i wanted to install one of boosted's themes from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1349862.
After i downloaded the zip, i put in on the root folder of my tablet, entered fastboot, and install it, as i thought that this is the way it should work. But it didn't and now i don't know how to fix all this cause i can't figure it out.
So any help, hints or something to get me through this it's much appreciated. I've read a lot of information for 4 hours now and nothing works and i can't seem to bail out.
Thanks in advance.

Would help to read the most common thread, but yeah. Drain it then fastboot works again. When it bootloops its almost impossible to get it back to fastboot.
I'd goto the overcome ROM thread first and from there follow restore yer tab part on the external page. Actually you may not need to do either if you can hold power and volume down until you get the first Samsung boot screen, continue to hold volume down, but release the power button, and get
into recovery mode.
I think the battery drain method is suggested often when not needed. As you didn't state anything you've tried already and the battery drain takes forever.
I've seen many boot loops and other issues where the drain method gets suggested, but there are much quicker solutions. Even quicker than what I suggested to do first.
Don't get me wrong. The battery drain method has worked many many times and may be needed here. I'm just saying try something easier and possibly faster to fix it first.
EDIT: I actually meant into download mode and Odin will still recognize your device. If you're able to get this far you shouldn't have to wait up to a week for your battery to drain first. I've never had to goto the extreme of draining and only have seena couple cases where it is probably absolutely needed, but a great method to know of if it is needed.
If you can read this it was sent using my GT-P7510.
As i said in the first post, the first thing i've done was to root the tablet. It was ok and then i went on boosted's themes thread and download one of them, copied it to root folder on the sd card and followed the same steps as in root.
Power off=>hold volume down and power on=>entered the left icon not the download mode=> installed the theme from the sd card=>reboot=>END
I mentioned boot loop, but it's more like not booting at all. When i turn the tablet on, it stays on with the samsung logo and nothing happens.
If there's nothing to do, i'll just wait for the battery drain, as long as it lasts and try to enter the first boot screen. if i manage, cause i've never seen it.
It's quite difficult to me to understand you guys, because i'm new to this and i recon that this is one of my biggest mistake, moding something without asking for help and/or get acquainted with android in order to understand how this works.
Now i have to suffer. and hopefully i will prevail.
I'll try to be specific. Power off your tab by holding down the power button a minute out two maybe needed. After powering down press and hold the power button and volume down button, which is the one closest to the power button. As soon as you see ANY LOGO come on screen, keep holding the volume down button , but release the power button. If you see two android icons. Thats great. Using the volume down button select the icon on the right, and press the volume up button. Accept the warning and press volume up again. Connect your tab to the computer, start Odin in administrator, by right clicking the Odin icon on there PC. If Odin recognizes your tab you should be good to go onto getting things back.
Using the overcome re-stocking yer system method uses a pit and repartitions and wipes everything to get you back to stock thus eliminating the need to wait for a battery drain.
Let us know your progress.
You're probably not in as bad as a place as you think and may just need to run through the method you followed the first time to root again.
EDIT AGAIN: Please try this before waiting for your battery to drain. I really doubt waiting that long is needed.

i managed to connect the tablet to pc, start odin3, and now?! what rom do i have to download/install and how exactly? can you link me to a thread. i've searched and download this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167250 but i'm not sure. i'm stuck here. help?!
Got your pm. Hopefully you're getting back on track.
It's great where you can still get to Odin and it recognizes your tab.
If you can read this it was sent using my GT-P7510.
But wait, there's 2 ways in which Odin recognizes your tab
1) In download mode
2) adb
I just hope it hasn't recognized your tablet in adb mode or the flashing would fail
I'm pretty sure from what he told me it was correctly recognized to use the overcome revert to stock instructions and files.
But we'll have to wait for a reply to see if he succeeded. Just panicking and undo worried being the first time he's ever rooted I believe.
I can't see flashing a theme causing enough damage to result in needing a battery drain. I guess it's possible if some really silly procedures were followed.
Having been there, done that, I don't feel promoting the battery drain as a first resort is being very responsible with trying to help. I think it makes people with lesser problems, than requiring a battery drain, feel even worse and really thinking they've REALLY MESSED UP BAD.
I think it should be an option, being a great one for when all else fails. Just not thrown out there as a first choice fix for everything.
Mostly it seems many problems are just from a missed or step not executed correctly leaving the person with the problem in the middle of a root or ROM install stuck as to what to do next since the how to posts are so prominently issuing the "I'm not responsible if your house explodes using this method!" statements. It makes people think if one thing doesn't go just as described they are doomed or must take overly drastic measures to be OK. There's usually quicker fixes than the battery drain with the smaller problems and I think they should be suggested before the battery drain.
Please don't get me wrong. I'm not saying anything its wrong with the battery drain you suggest so adamantly and often. I only feel it shouldn't be suggested as a first method of how to fix everything, every time something goes wrong during a root process or ROM, theme install.
There are many cases where it is the only or best thing to do but not in "most" cases.
I hope I never have to use it, or even tell someone I think they need to, because the waiting would kill me if I had just finished a charge, but again it's great to know it's there just in case.
If you can read this it was sent using my GT-P7510.
It's all good Benz Thanks , Just trying to point out thought that in some cases the tablet may boot into fastboot which makes things alot easier than the drain method, but then 70% of people who are on the Q&A section often can barely even get to fastboot anymore, Just wanted to know if he could get to that mode, everything falls dandy from there
Thanks for not taking that the wrong way. I was worried.
I also think the different terms describing the the same things are an issue. Like fastboot. I don't use the term but it means the same thing as other terms I do use. Nobodys fault, but it tends to confuse noobs. Even me sometimes. LOL :what:
Actually, I will always consider myself a noob, cause I'm lucky to keep up with thing and never seem to get ahead of the game. Just too old I guess.
I was ahead of the game for a couple years, but that was over 15-20 years ago.

Thanks guys for your replies. I bookmarked some of the links that you've sent me, made some notes and as soon as i get back from work i will try and solve my problem.
Unfortunately, being in this mess, made me rush into things and now i'll be gone for 2 or 3 days until i'll come back home and deal with this.
Thanks benz for your messages, thanks misledz. As soon as i'm onto this i will reply to you guys, as i am pretty sure something will go wrong. If not, well...i'll be sorry that i can't get you guys to a beer or somethin'.
Thanks again and have a great weekend. And sorry for being a pain in the arse.

No problem at all. makes me feel good to know I've helped someone. So when I try to help someone you might call it being selfish, cause I'm doing it mostly to make myself to feel good
Have a good time. And an update will be greatly appreciated.

I'm so freakin happy!!!
Thank you, Misledz for all your help.
Thank you, Benzoman for all your support. you've been to good to me. Hopefully i will try to break your balls from now on in order to understand how i should love my tablet more safely. If that's ok with you.
Thanks again guys, you're quite the gentlemen.
P.S. Benzoman, i've sent you a message, but nevermind it now. Thank you very, very much!
P.P.S. Yes! I was to ****in annoyed by this issue and i had to travel 78 miles just to come back home and solve this freakin thing. And i did! And with your full support. And i'm so ****in high right now.
Very cool to hear all is good. I love to know when I've helped someone, it makes me feel great myself.

Got my gTab yesterday. [VERY EXCITED!]
Plugged in wall outlet, waited 4 hours to charge.
Connected to WiFi.
Updated TapnTap, as instructed.
My Vist Ultimate computer didn't see the gTab when I plugged it in, at least not so I could get to the root directory.
So I went to an old XP and tried that. It worked.
Wanted to Root it, so I installed (sorry if that's not the correct word) ClockworkMod v08.
So far so good.
Then rooted TnT Lite v 4.2
Still good.
Then rooted TnT Lite suppl 4.25
STILL okay.
Then went to gMail. Added my gMail account. (An account I use for business.) It took a LONG time to do whatever it was doing. So I went to do something else, thinking it would continue doing it's thing in the background. I was wrong. It messed up, and I kept getting error messages.
Next thing I know, I'm somehow in that infinite boot loop.
It was about 2 am, and I was tired, and... panicked!
Next thing you know I'm freaking out and went hog-wild (while following directions to the letter), to get my brand new toy to work.
I did nvflash windows, still infinite boot loop. I tried putting the vanilla recovery 3588 on there. Still infinite boot loop.
Kept at things, trying everything I read, and STILL... infinite boot loop.
Then I figured it was time to try to get my Vista computer working so I wouldn't have to keep transferring stuff from the Vista to the XP to the miscroSD card to the gTab, and followed directions about APX mode.
I was delirious, exhausted and scared, and kind of went postal (in a frenzied OCD sort-of way), trying everything and anything to get rid of the infinite boot loop.
Now it won't even power up. (AT ALL!) I think I gave it a heart attack, or possibly a stroke. And that's with not even owning it for 24 hours!
I've tried the long 45 second power hold, then the short one. [Did that about 37 times.] I've tried power and Vol+. Nope. Then did a few power and Vol-, just to really freak the poor sick, dead thing out. [Like kicking the proverbial dead horse, I guess. Trying to see if there was any life left in it.] I even read to turn off the lights to see if there was a faint glow. But nope. No glow.
I will now follow the directions from another post, and will let it just sit for 24 hours (if I can survive the wait) to let the battery discharge and then see if it will boot. [After this nightmare, there is no WAY I will take off the back and hit the reset button--thereby definitely voiding my warranty.] But I hope I'm not like the woman from the forum thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=968177
If I am, and can't get this thing to power up, do you think WOOT will let me return it???? I'm so upset that I broke my new toy so quickly. If anyone has any suggestions about getting this thing to boot up, I'd appreciate it. [at this point, I'd be happy to have it boot up in the infinite boot loop!]
Oh, and one last question, how does having it turned off (because I can't turn it on) and sitting there drain the battery to the point that it needs to start fresh after a mere 24 hours with no activity? Is that typical for tablets?
THANK YOU to anyone who can offer advice on what to try next or how to remedy this problem. Please keep in mind that I am good with PCs and laptops/netbooks, but am VERY new to this whole android and tablet things, so if you send instructions, please give implicit directions (as though you are instructing a 3-year-old), without feeling as if you are insulting me. [Please believe it's what I need, and will appreciate. As will the other wooters who just turned their gTabs into brinks] And know that you will be helping Roebeet by answering my questions, because the poor guy must be exhausted from all of us lay-peoples' foibles and mess-ups. [The man seems to be a God at this site!]
Did you do what is mentioned right after step 10 in this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
"If your tablet bootloops…Also may be required to get market running correctly on some ROMs...
Press and hold the power button to shut the device down. Boot back into Clockwork. Select the advanced option at the bottom, then go to “partition SD card”, for the first option select 2048, and for the second option select 0. Then, redo steps 7-10. This erases all data on your tablet, including backups."
But first... switch to decaf and get some rest... ;-)
Panic doesn't help.
It might actually be powering up but staying in APX mode. I've seen one do that. If that's the case you can still nvflash it back to normal. Let it charge for 15-20 minutes and leave it on the charger. Try to start it up and see if your pc can see it.
You maybe got the bootloop because your tab had sleep death while syncing. Was the error you got by chance something like process.acore? If so that is a classic error that happens after syncing contacts, sometimes there are empty contacts with no data that make the tab go nuts. Simply deleting the bad contacts solves the problem.
A simple wipe data/cash/davlic would have been the first place to start. Breathing helps when stuff goes wonky.
If you can get it to recovery a repartition is totally necessary. Deffinetly... and maybe some whiskey ....
Good luck.
good luck with woot return, dont even think they do it.
I wouldn't worry about the warranty. You already voided it when you rooted the device.
I'm so sorry, guys, I didn't check off the subscribe notification, so I didn't know that anyone had written.
cdavisccs28, I didn't do that while the tablet was boot looping, but somehow it went from bootlooping to complete death.
K J Rad, it wasn't charging, and wouldn't boot. [And you can probably guess, I tried numerous times.]
Mantara, the death in the middle of syncing certainly didn't help it, and, as you suggested, might have been the last nail in the coffin. The whiskey suggestion was funny! Actually I, personally don't drink, but as you might have deduced, I'm a carrier. [AKA: I've been told that I drive people to drink.]
spike378 & filterking: Yup, I think you are both correct. How I managed to spike from "excited as a schoolgirl" to "completely tanking" in less than 24 hours amazes even ME! [And I know me, and am used to me! I think that was a personal record!] [If I don't laugh about it, I'll cry!]
THANK YOU ALL for replying! Your time and concern meant a lot to me, but I think this baby is totally bricked! Elvis has DEFINITELY left the building! If I do get another one (I'll have to start saving again), I might be too afraid to play with it. I really am good with PCs and notebooks, so I might just keep staying with what I know. YOU GUYS ROCK, for trying to help me, and I really appreciate it!
Same problem. I booted the device up, and connected it to WiFi. Then it gave a popup where it asked to update to the newest version. I said okay, and let it do its thing. Then it restarted into a bootloop. So, I turned the device off, and tried to turn it back on, except -- nothing. With the USB plugged in, it's not recognized by the computer at any time after I press the power button. I've been trying to get it to boot for an hour now and it's still just sitting there with a black screen. Not even a backlight is showing. Anyone know of any solution? Or is it time to ask for an RMA from Woot!?
h.nocturna, WOW, you didn't even get to the part where you started doing everything and anything (in a frenzy) to get it to work properly! That might be a good thing, h.nocturna, because you haven't voided your warranty! You might need to send it to Viewsonic to be fixed (since it messed up while you were doing their update), but at least you can do THAT! I mailed my brand new brick to my son up in college and gave him this site, and told him to have a blast, and do whatever he wanted with it. [He's known me his whole life, and said even HE "can't fathom my destroying something so completely in less than 10 hours."] I wish you luck!
Oh, one more question that will help the masses, I'm sure. So how do you get your computer to recognize the device as a hard drive, when it is plugged in to a Windows PC (without voiding the warrenty, of course)? [Vista Ultimate does not recognize it, and neither did Windows 7.] Please give step-by-step instructions for the lay-person. [By answering this question, at least we will solve THAT problem for folks!]
badtypist,
I wrote you a fix last night and when I went to save it the Forums had been shut down and do it didn't save to post --
and I had been on the road and was exhausted and just couldn't stay up long enough to redo it if and when they came back up. Sorry.
You simply needed to find one solution and then let us get down the procedure to follow to fix it.
Several people in the past have gotten to the point where you were. I read two fixes.
One was some people were able to get the tab to start again by playing with the
power switch -- hold it for long, long times and then press a short startup, etc. Somehow they got that to reset and start.
Somewhere else in the forums -- and I have never done this with either of my tablets --
there are a few threads where someone in this kind of situation opened up
the tablet card and simply unplugged the battery for 10- or more seconds. There also
is a reset button inside the case as shown in an old thread where someone opened a
G-Tab up and took pictures.
If any of those three choices get to where you can either use power / volume - to get
into NVFlash more ---- or to where we can load CWM -- then you are in fair shape.
LOTS AND LOTS OF BOOT LOOPS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH PARTITIONING. Simply
getting into CWM and re-partitioning to 2048 and 0 and then using CWM to "Fix
Permissions" will get it working. CWM also will let you wipe the cache and wipe the
factory data, which sometimes will allow and NVFlash to come on up and work right.
You see, we were not dead by any stretch.
You might pass this on to the recipient of the tablet.
Also, so many people are trying to do so much that is over their heads -- and so many
people are borking their tablets -- that this site and the folks that can help -- just can't communicate. Sad day.
I wish you luck. Hope this helps.
Rev
EDIT: Well, I guess we missed the boat completely. Evidently she mailed of the G-Tab and checked
out for good!!!
Hi Rev! Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I TRIED to get back to you sooner, but I think this site was down, because it kept timing out and wouldn't let me get to the site OR the conversation thread! I tried a few times, then tried later, and now just tried again!
I think you guys are getting BLASTED with desperate lay-people from the over 10,000 tablets sold on Woot who have "borked" their tablets. (That's a funny word, Rev! I hope I'm using it properly! And please note, although the WORD is funny, the actual situation is NOT funny!)
Yes, I mailed the offending frustration-linked object to my son, and can't "take it back," but perhaps I will beg for and borrow enough money to try again, sometime soon! If I do, I will come back here again sine I feel I have bonded with the wonderful, sharing folks on this site. (I'm a she, by the way, not a "he.") I admire (okay, worship) the folks who help us lay-people out so we don't sit alone crying and trying to power/Vol+ in solitude!
I've read your other posts previously, Rev, and you are so wonderful to help us n00bs! So please remember "badtypist" (hopefully with good thoughts) and when you hear my name again, let's hope it's to say... THIS TIME I ROOTED IT CORRECTLY!!!!
Thanks again, for your time, Rev AND the rest of you, which wasn't wasted, because I sent my son this link and he will (in his spare time) read through it to fix HIS new tablet. [I think he kind of liked that his mom messed up! He got a VERY expensive new toy, if he can fix it.]
Perhaps I'll talk with you soon...
badtypist (and bad ROOTER. Or is it ROOTERIST? Or maybe ROOTIST? Whatever the proper term, I think we can all agree that I AM bad at it!)
Gtab Update Problems
So, I would agree with some of the posts above. I would also point out that you have two options (or some combination of the two):
1. Try to return the tablet, or put in a warranty claim (the warranty specifically does not cover modification\rooting)
2. Try to fix it yourself
I tend to choose #2 f I think the chances are better than 50/50 in my favor. Also, if the hardware is okay, you can have it fixed in 20 minutes.
The experience that the OP went through is EXACTLY why I discourage newer g-tablet owners from rushing in and flashing alternate firmware to their tablet. I am often chided for this recommendation, but I believe that it is unwise to modify a brand new tablet.
If you still want to mod it, you should have a backup plan. I save my update file to an external USB drive. You should then be able to re-install the stock update by placing it on a microSD card. You need to rename it to update.zip, and add a file that tells it to look at the microSD card for an update. I am a but fuzzy on the specifics, but that file is named "command", and I found it somewhere here in the forums.
As I plan on modding my newer woot tablet (or maybe my older Sears one). I will first set this up, and will work out the details.
Hi buzzzard, thanks for the great info! VERY helpful. I did see that video while researching the gTab, but didn't bookmark it, so I appreciate your adding it here! My son will see all your posts and will use all of your suggestions to try to raise my brand new gTab from the dead! [It wasn't even in zombie mode when I shipped it to my son, so we'll see what happens! I'll keep ya'll informed.]
wasserkapf, you are probably right about not jumping in with both feet for us n00bs. And I most certainly don't mean to be disrespectful in ANY way, but I have a (serious) question... if I'd kept the tap-n-tap and played with it for a while, how would that have changed things for me if I eventually decided to root it to a faster, better OS? [I'm not meaning this sarcastically, I really want to know what I'd have to learn in order to change the results I had, in case I ever do this whole process again, or in case others out there are (hopefully) learning by my mistakes.] What would you suggest lay-people should be learning about the gTab BEFORE attempting to root it? [The answer to this question wil help a LOT of folks!]
buzzzard,
I have always understood -- and I don't want to know bad enough to spend the time
researching it -- that the warranty is void when you load non-standard software.
And even if it were not, I have real questions about messing up a computer and then
taking it back to the seller as if it were faulty. Seems to me there is a dishonesty
component in that equation.
I think modders SHOULD accept the risk that they can trash their tablets -- and that
if they do then the loss is theirs.
Rev
P. S. -- I've tried to say this much without starting a flame war -- if you do I won't
answer you and will ask the moderator to close and hide the thread.

For one, this will give you time to read up and learn more. I can tell that you are confused by all of this. You don't "root it to a faster OS". Rooting is a method to gain root privileges on the tablet. To you windows users, root is the equivalent of Administrator. There also is only one OS available for this tablet, and that is Android. Some have made modified/customized versions of Android, but it is still Android.
There seems to be the misperception that you have to install a custom firmware to get root privileges or Android Market access. This can be done on the stock firmware, and then makes the tablet much more useful.
butchconner, I know you weren't talking to me, but I am taking full responsibility, and am hoping my son can resurrect my gTab, and I DO hope there will be no flaming, as well. ["There's no need for flaming. It's unsportsmanlike, kind-of rude and unproductive," said the mom to all reading this thread. So please don't flame so this won't get deleted for other poor people who "bork" their gTabs.]
badtypist,
wasserkapf was around when I got my first G-Tablet -- when we were all getting started last November.
You have no idea how bad the software was back then and the things we had to do to make things work.
It wasn't a question of 10 different ROMS and whether it was fast or not -- it was a question of making it work.
But I agree with wasserkapf (and I don't mean this comment particularly at you ) that
people are trying to do too much to fast. In addition to being a minister, I also was
an exec in the IT field for 30 years. I learned to read the docs, to move slow, to make sure each step was
successfully completed before moving on, to test things that
I'm not sure of -- and a whole host of other things that IT people use to operate their
company's systems without crashing it and losing data.
I helped a guy along the way who said he was inexperienced and that his tablet was in
the same kind of situation yours ways. He had gotten his G-Tab, charged it up, and had loaded EVERYTHING he could find on it.
Three or four different ROMS including an
experimental ROM he had been warned was risky. Yet he was having to ask what
recovery was and where to look for files and other basic questions.
I think everybody should get their tablet, upgrade to the latest version of stock, install z4root and
Titanium Backup and learn to use them, then install the latest version of Angry Birds and whatever useful software they need -- and then enjoy
that for a while while they learn the ins and outs of modding.
I help people because of the kind of person I am and because I am retired and have
some time to devote. But I also will be honest and tell you this -- I don't suffer
obnoxious, foolish people well -- and there are folks I just don't help because someone gave them good advice
and they didn't listen........I help folks who need and deserve to be helped.
The alternate ROMs are nice. And it's neat to add market and other useful stuff to
your tablet. But none of those kinds of things are so important that they are worth
what some folks do.
Nuff said. I don't respond to flames. And when you have been helping people as long
as I have, then you can have your opinion.
Peace,
Rev
I'm hoping someone can help me, and I may need led thru steps.
I came from an x2, which I had managed to root, install recovery, and flashed and changed several ROMs, all successfully.
On my rezound however, I'm kinda stuck. I unlocked it, using the htc instructions and links, and rooted using zerg. I apparently don't have, and never have had recovery. Originally I just couldn't go any farther as far as gaining recovery or flashing roms, would get an error message and it would go to reboot. I don't know what I did 2 nights ago, but how whatever I do from the boot screen, I get an immediate haptic response, and it goes right to the white htc screen, where it is locked until I pull the battery. I've even tried to do factory resets, and it asks the prompt questions, but eventually it just reboots to the locked htc screen, until I pull the battery. Then it will reboot normally, but nothing was wiped.
I'm not totally inept, on the phone or the computer, but I'm definitely still a noob, but I really want to learn this stuff, the customization possibilities are the main reason I got the rezound.
I would appreciate some patient assistance from some of you knowledgeable folks!
Thanks in advance! Scott
Try using scott's cleanflash tool. It will flash recovery for you. It will also flash the boot.img (kernel) when you flash a custom ROM.
Sounds like you have fastboot checked in the settings.
If you really want to learn more about flashing, do yourself a huge favor and read up on ADB and fastboot. There's a few really good guides on them you can find by searching the forums, and knowing the basic commands will save you quite a bit of hassle vs. constantly doing battery pulls.
update..getting worse
thanks to the 3 of u who tried to help so far, i have tried some of your advice, but now my phone is basically non-functional, with constant reboots. it wont even allow me to do a hard reset. i tried it thru settings, when i could access them, and thru the "battery pull and buttons method". it confirms the reset, and goes thru the motions, but when i reboot it...everything is the same...including my problem. i need a functioning phone, does anyone know how i can go about putting my x2 back into service?
i know a lot of people on here probably figure i'm getting what i deserve, but if it comes down to it i will run over it with my car and get an insurance replacement. i really want to learn how to do this stuff, but without the background or any help, maybe i AM too "stoopid" Thanks Scott
Are you able to connect to your pc with it so you can use adb or RUU?
Not that I'm going to be the one with the answer to your problems, but maybe you can post exactly what you did that got you messed up in the first place because your post is a little confusing and it would help people who really know this stuff figure out what happened and how to fix it. Looks like you rooted and then did you ever flash a recovery?
ifyou would like hell free to shoot me your gtalk if you have one and I'll gladly help you out, got no plans tonight so I can help at whatever point you see this that also goes for anybody else having issues!

Ty wolf...and I very likely will take you up on your kind offer very soon! I was away all afternoon and evening today.
I did get out of the bootlooping mess I had earlier, I found a related post on droid forums, posted by malkavian under the title "continuous rebooting". The fix involved removing the sim card and typing in a code, and it fixed my most pressing problem.
I still have big problems though, I can't do anything from the boot/recovery screen, it goes right to the white htc screen and locks until I pull the battery. Also, I have tried several times to do hard resets, and those don't work either. I hope to talk to you soon...and thanks in advance! Scott

Try putting your phone in DFU mode and connecting it to Windows Media Player, it worked on my Symbian device so I don't see why it won't work on your model i777 blackberry device.
Cheers man.

I've only been here for a little while but a majority of noobs that register here with the specific intent to fix a brick do so because they dl'ed and flashed crap from zedomax and/or galaxys2root.
Did what you flashed have boot loaders? I'd almost say no but who knows. If it did you have to flash a stock Rom with i777 boot loaders. Use Odin. There are plenty of resources here to help, take a look around and have patience. Good . Luck.

Did you seriously just bump your own thread eight minutes after posting it?
@yupitzfreddy,
We can help you out, but you need to post some detailed information. You seemed to be in a hurry at first, but you havn't posted anything in a couple of hours.
You need to get the phone into download mode. With the phone turned off, and your original phone usb cable plugged into your computer, plug the cable into your phone while holding down both vol- and vol+ (but not power). Then press vol+ to enter the download screen. Does that get you into download mode? What does your flash counter, the text at the top of the screen say? You can turn the phone back off by holding the power button for a few minutes.
Let us know how you're doing.

yupitzfreddy, if you're still out there, follow creepyncrawly's advice and post as much detail as you can.

Hey guys... there are a lot of threads in here talking about Power Button not working on Galaxy Nexus and many other devices, but I couldn't find one about i777. I've had a lot of trouble with this, and I wanted to share how it started and how I finally got it to work back again (this was an unique case, none of the workarounds found could help me out).
First, my i777 was rooted and I always had Cyanogenmod on it. Since early CM9 builds to latest nightlies of CM10 (no stable version yet).
It always worked really fine for me (I live in Brazil), nothing to complain, but then I started to use CM updates to keep up with the latest nightlies and... BOOM, after another nightly my power button was off. It also didn't work on CM recovery screen!
First I tried using volume rocker to wake the device and locking widgets to lock it back again, But it never worked, the volume buttons only woke up my phone when they wanted to.
I also tried ButtonRemapping app, but it didn't work for me either. It was really frustrating, I spent days on it and started thinking it was a hardware problem, until I found a guy telling that wiping and reflashing a ROM could do the trick.
In order to accomplish that (I'm not familiar to ADB), I flashed ClockWork recovery Touch version (paid $2 for it, no problem) so I could select anything on recovery screen since the default selection button (Power Button) wouldn't help me out.
I re-flashed CM9 stable (thought it could be a CM10 issue), but again I had no results. Wiped it all over again, re-flashed CM9 again and nothing! No response from my power button.
I Then I tried CM10 nightly build. Nothing again. I was starting to give up and assuming it was a hardware issue
I Finally I decided to flash a SuperNexus ROM that I found here on XDA, Seemed very trustable, very nice comments about it. Again, nothing did the trick. I even tried to edit the key mapping files (under /system) but it was so hard I gave up on that.
I Suddently, after a few hours using SuperNexus ROM, I booted the device into recovery and the damn button started to work. The thing is that I don't know which event triggered the button to work back, I don't even have a clue of that. It simply started working back again, and since I see a lot of people complaining they can't get it back, I imagine that flashing a different ROM may help. Just wondering...
I A tip: DO NOT USE batch Titanium Backup to recover your apps. It simply replaces ClockWorkMod with default mode (non-touch) and I had a really hard time booting my phone again.

LOL You could have gotten CWM Touch for free which sticks as long as you don't flash another kernel.
My power button failed recently, but my phone was under warranty. If you can access recovery, you can return it to stock and prepare it for warranty exchange, if yours is still covered, which is what I'm doing. Might want to look into it; call AT&T and find out if your warranty is still valid, it never hurts to try. And let me know if that's what you end up wanting to do and I'll try to help you.

U don't seem to understand then because there is a huge warning about rom manager in the stickies. If he is having people use that and you're defending him then u are just as guilty for being ignorant
I fixed mine by opening the phone, jiggling the power button a little, and putting it back together.

There are tutorials about clockworkmod but it's not talking about rom manager. There's a sticky on not using rom manager. Recovery is built into the kernel. So no I'm not ignorant, just informed from reading, something more people should do
For those that experience issues with their power button or just don't want to press it (like me), Smart Screen ON uses the proximity sensor to wake the screen.
i was able to fix my wife's s2 power button by removing the 7 screws in the phone, the sim card and prying on the back piece around the power button with my finger nail. After a little prying and wiggling around the power button it started working again! And yes, I did it with the battery in and the phone powered on. Risky I know, but I didn't want to remove the battery and not be able to power on the phone back on. Plus there hasn't been a warrenty or insurance on it for long time. Must have got some dust or something in there, strange considering it stays in a case even when I owned it
I've done the phone opening and wiggling and I'm getting tired of doing it. Plus sometimes it just doesn't work. Mine just stopped working yet again after a month of working -.- any good solutions or workarounds for this problem?

I assume the only long term solution is to replace it.
Does the i777 use the ribbon power button like the i9100 or the soldered one?
Thanks.
Had this same issue. If you can get the button working long enough, flash a siyah kernel which uses a touch recovery then make sure you never change it. If you switch roms, just flash the siyah kernel again right afterward..I use the swipe to wake option on Stweaks, then added a screen lock widget to my home screen so i can wake and lock my phone without the button. My button is currently working but I try to avoid using in case it feels like breaking again.
Also, if your phone is awake when you pull the battery, i will start automatically when you put the battery back in (at least mine always does) so you can technically power on and off like that as a last resort and get into recovery without the button as well. Just pull the battery, then hold volume up/down and replace the battery. keep holding the volume buttons until you see recovery. You need a touch recovery to do anything once your'e in there though.
The button appears to be a soldered piece though the vids i've found are for the 9100.- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfNVmZ924Xs
found the part for the 9100 is GH59-10916A and i found it here- http://www.samsungparts.com/Products/Parts_and_Accessories/PID-GH59-10916A.aspx?model=
i emailed customer service but they couldn't tell me if it would work on a i777 or not. Haven't opened mine up yet to see.
Thanks. I'm seeing siyah in my future. It's actually my son's, now. It does NOT use the ribbon style button. I opened it and it is a block style but not the 4mm wide one you see on ebay and other places. I actually ordered one of those and when it came in, I saw that it was too small. The one in the i777 is actually 4.7mm wide and has three conductors on the back side. The other problem I see facing if I could even locate the proper switch, is room to fit the soldering tip between the switch and the sim socket(I think that's what was beside it).

Is this not the right part?
http://stellatech.com/samsung-gt-i9100-galaxy-s-ii-power-key-flex,a,en,810428.html
Hi all,
This morning I was browsing the web when suddenly the screen froze and the phone didn't respond anymore.
I was forced to remove the battery and replace it again in order to restart my phone.
I restarted the phone, it all went good till the bootscreen started the loop.
I restarted my phone, again.
The booting up goes good, first I see the Galaxy S2 screen, then I see the kernel bootlogo screen, but now it freezes whilst showing the kernel boot logo? (Logo: ''Black eye with the Ying-Yang in the middle and some purple smoke surrounding that eye'')
The phone went off, I saw some minor white lines appearing screen and it just died on me, it didn't respond anymore, it refuses to go on even whilst battery is at 82 %, I tried swapping batteries because I thought that my battery had malfuntioned but that wasn't the case and it didn't work.
I tried recharging my phone but no luck.
It just won't start.
However, I do feel my processor in the back (top-left corner) is getting pretty warm.
What could this be?
I'm running the Resurrection Remix ICS Jelly Bean Rom.
Thanks in advance...

Yes I read what you said but you didnt make it clear that it wouldnt "power" on. What it sounded like from what you wrote is that it wouldn't boot system.
If you want specific/precise replies instead of wasting your own time or that of peoples trying to help you and then been an arse when they dont fully understand because of your lack of clarity then I would suggest been more clear in first place.
In that case...
Have you tried a USB jig?
If you have then its pretty much dead and you have no choice but maybe try and get a JTAG repair or mobo replacement of if its your display getting that replaced. Or if you have warranty ring samsung.

Have you tried learning some manners?
Have tried using respect for other people who are trying to help you instead of slagging them off for apparently not reading your OP even though what they posted was valid for what you wrote?
Have you just tried going away?
No wonder people on here get sick of trying to help people who quite frankly don't deserve it.

Exactly my point.
These n00bs feel they have some sort of entitlement or this is their official devices support forum and we are all paid to help them.
If these people took time to research their devices/flashing etc they wouldnt have 99% of issues in first place. Then they come on here bypass using search, duplicate posts and when somebody attempts to help them they act like this guy and assume we all have magic mind powers instead of relying on posters been clear when they want help/describe issues.

No wonder people on here get sick of trying to help people who quite frankly don't deserve it.

I appreciate the help, I really do, I was just surprised by your answer Atheist because I clearly said my phone won't start
And that has nothing to do with manners and such MC, you cannot assume behavior through writing without actually hearing me, it's the tone that makes the song my friend, you clearly assume much.
The Atheist, don't take it personal, if you think I might sounded rude towards you and find my clarification not accurate then my excuses, I appreciate your response and help and I want to thank you for it.
Yes, I have tried the Jig, no luck unfortunately. I'm forced to buy myself a new phone and I was thinking the Galaxy Note II as that phone is regarded the best out there, at least that's what I've read of course.
Do you have a clue what the problem might be? I was thinking the ROM caused the issue.
Thank you.

Yes but you fail to understand that "phone wont start" could mean one of 2 things (Because most people are never clear)...
1. Cant get Android to boot.
2. Phone wont power on.
You may have meant number 2 but there are plenty others who use same words who simply mean they cant get Android to boot, ie they just get black screen or logo or a boot loop.
It sounds like you have either purchased a faulty device and hardware has failed or you have flashed incorrect rom/kernel/had bad flash and corrupted bootloader.
If you're phone isnt powering on, you have tried different battery, tried jig, left battery out couple of hours and tried again (try that if you havent) then only option is to JTAG (If you have corrupted bootloader etc) or mobo replacement.

Thank you for responding, and sorry for the late reply.
I have purchased my phone at T-Mobile and have it for like 1,5 year now. I have always used the Resurrection Remix Rom which I never experienced any difficulties. 2/3 months ago I updated it to the Jelly Bean rom without any problems at all, just after last week when I was checking my phone it froze on me and after 2 reboots it's just died :/ It won't turn on anymore.
I tried the USB jig, I also left the battery out for a couple of hours, I also tried using a different battery, I thought perhaps my battery was dead but unfortunately none of these ideas worked for me.
My phone is definitely dead, no doubt about it.
I might go for the JTAG but I have no time for all that, it's best that I purchase a new device and I was thinking about the Galaxy Note 2.
If recommend a phone other than the Note 2, please tell, I can then compare the devices and make my decision.
Buy an S II.

Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3 or another S2 would be my choice. Or maybe a LG/Google Nexus 4 however the lack of external storage support is a *****.
