[Q] Boot Loop - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

Hey i just PG41IMG-WIFI-light-B10 through the bootloader, at PG41IMG.zip and now its just bootlooping with the htc quietly brilliant logo.
i had s-off/revolutionary and rooted with stock gingerbread.

Im realy worryed guys have i just bricked my tablet? how can't turn it off :S nothig does anything

just got it into recovery through abd, does it recharge in recovery?

reading is fundemental.
You flashed the light version which requries and assumes you would be flashing a rom directly there after. So if you try to just boot after flashing it there is no system to boot into, thus boot loops.
Yes you should be able to charge in recovery and or power off through fastboot and charge
you just need to flash a rom and you will be good to go. Place the rom on your ext sd and enter recovery and let her rip

Just fixed it, have no idea what i did wrong, but just installed leedroids rom after getting into recovery, can someone delete this thread?

Yeah i did read it all but it would just loop and i couldn't get it into recovery/fastboot wasn't detecting it.
it was stuck with no seeable way to
But adb was detecting it and managed to get it to reboot into recovery, i already had the rom ready on the sd card.
And god that noise it makes when looping could drive you nuts.
And yeah i did read it, read more than id like to admit lol

yes the part about not getting past the splash screen i do nto believe is in the instructions. for future notice if you are stuck in a boot loop you can just hold volume down and power. it will eventually boot into hboot

yeah i tried that for ages, that was why i was so worried.
Not having a removeable battery there was no way i could see of getting out of it.
Its more luck than anything that i found the abd command to reload in recovery.
was worried it was that problem where it doesn't recharge. (yes paranoid i know)
But anyway, it all turned out fine

Same exact thing happened to me today. What i did was pull the battery and booted it back up in recovery (power button and down volume button) and did a factory reset. booted it back up and it seemed to work right.
tried that im on my 2nd round of sbf root recovery reflash. of this doesnt work im going to bed i have a 15 hour double shift tomorrow
thanks stx that worked. if anyone can post in the thread that there is a possible bug in flashing this from the p3 preroot it would be cool. it would also be cool if anyone knew how i could sync with facebook too

Did you wipe data before installing? Also could you confirm the MD5 Hash
917649e16b63d99a7ec30e3c6b6f02b3 Eclipse_v0.4.zip
installed it many times from the prerooted confirms it works fine just make sure you wipe once you get into recovery and my sure you plug your phone into the wall before getting into recovery because it will not boot into recovery and get stuck in motorola logo without being plugged in
after I factory reset it it booted fine.

Stuck on Dual Core Screen. Need Help Please

Help please...
I tried to flash CM7 onto my unlocked motorola Atrix 4g. Before doing so, I made a restore with Clockwork recovery and proceeded to flash the CM7 beta found on XDA. Before flashing, I made sure to wipe data/cache.
After doing this, my phone is stuck on the boot screen. I tried using the backup that I made to restore, but it says "can not find system.info" and finished. Then when rebooting it is still stuck at the boot screen.
Worst of all, my battery is now dead and wont charge! I searched and did some things in fastboot to try to fix it, but whenever I try to use fastboot, it gets stuck on "waiting for device".
Is there any way that I can save my phone or am I done for?

take your battery out and plug your phone into a wall charger. Then place the battery back in and let your phone charge.
After that fastboot flash romracer's recovery from the dev section. Reinstall cm7 and enjoy!

Doing that to charge the battery didnt work
Also, I tried using romracer's recovery last night before the battery died, but it kept getting stuck on "waiting for device"
Did I use a wrong version of fastboot or something?

follow the instructions in that video to charge your phone, use a SPARE USB CABLE. do NOT hack apart your Motorola charger, you can pick up a USB cable for 2-3 bucks off the internet.
download the fastboot files from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138092
after you get your phone charged (let it charge for about half an hour with that method) try to boot into fastboot and do a fastboot -w (this will wipe EVERYTHING)
download the latest recovery from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
after you fastboot -w, you should flash Romracer's latest recovery by doing the command 'fastboot flash recovery <recovery.img name goes here>'
then boot into recovery mode and wipe Dalvik Cache, wipe Data, and wipe Cache.
after that, install CM7 beta. or any other ROM you want. you should proceed to make a backup immediately after your first boot into the device.
please don't ever try to flash anything if your phone is not at 100% charge.
Woo Thank you guys!
I went to a best buy and they switched out the battery for me and I was able to fix it with the directions you guys provided! Thank you so much!
Happened to me too. Minus the dead battery part. It was fine till I tried flashing fauxs 1.3ghz kernel. Then all hell broke loose

[Q] Atrix has multiple Android Recoveries

Okay my Atrix 4g has unlocked bootloader, Android 2.3.6, and I flashed CWM recovery the other day, and it worked fine except whenever I plugged in my phone to wall charger, it would boot AUTOMATCALLY into that recovery. Followed this guide: LINK
I then installed CWM recovery 5.0.2.3 from here: LINK
Now again when I plug usb into wall to charge, it boots into the first recovery I installed. I can't see the battery charge symbol.
Now I downloaded this ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836674 and tried to boot into recovery from using the volume down button until "Android recovery" but that takes me to the stock 4 option crap.
So I tried to flash the MROM from ROM manager in the os, and it says restarting into recovery, AGAIN that takes me to the triangle exclamation point crap.
SO MY QUESTION is if I do a disk clear, format from the recovery, would my phone still work with T-mobile afterwards, and I can install the CWM again, and flash the new ROM?? I don't care about losing data, I have only few apps.
Here's a crazy idea - did you by any chance install the recovery image on the BOOT partition instead of the RECOVERY partition?
If you can't do it manually, there is no point in trying with ROM manager, since it can't do anything you can't do yourself.

When I install the the recovery, it just says hit yes to continue. Please help, rather than telling me that I am an idiot.
Apologies, didn't mean to imply you're stupid or anything. I said "crazy" because it is very unlikely but your symptoms kinda point to exactly that. This can easily happen actually - both the boot image and the recovery image are of the exact same structure (kernel + ramdisk) and the partitions that hold them are both exactly the same size (8 MB). The only difference is, with recovery the ramdisk launches an user interface and never leaves it, while with boot the ramdisk chains to booting your normaly system. Never tried it, but I believe if one flashes recovery on the boot partition, the end result would be that the phone boots into recovery every time you'd expect it to boot normally.
How exactly did you flash recovery? Don't link me to a thread or a procedure but rather describe what you did, what commands you issued and what was the response.

No problem mate.
Well I guess I could tell you what I did, but I did exactly what the guides said:
downloaded the .zip archive, placed contents anyplace, and started cmd from that folder and entered:
adb install MOTOA4_Bootstrap_0408_1720-signed.apk
Then I opened up that app "System Recovery" and hit Install recovery, then I hit recovery mode from the app, and was told to connect the usb to the wall charger, not pc. And that was it for the first recovery. I then noticed that this specific recovery was missing some functions in the actual recovery so I installed 5.0.2.3 later.
I downloaded the .zip from the site and placed inside phone internal SD, the second link from OP here, turned on phone and went into Android recovery and it opened up the one I installed just a minute ago, and hit install zip from sdcard, I hit internal, and selected the .zip I downloaded from that site. I hit reboot recovery and it booted into that recovery, 5.0.2.3, the real one.
To go to this new one, I insert wall usb to phone and it boots in the first recovery, and I hit, reboot recovery, and it takes me to the new one.
NOW whenever I plug in usb to wall to charge, it boots in the old recovery, and I don't see charge symbol. I have calibrated my battery 3 times, and it is still CRAP (brand new 1800mah battery for mb860).
Anyways, I thought to ask here if I did a wipe data from the new recovery, or old, would it get rid of this whole mess?
Hmm ok.
I told you this before but here goes again. I'd give up on random guides from random sites. Everything you need is right here on this forum.
Not to mention, the recovery in that ZIP is slightly older, there is a newer one available.
Here's what I'd do if I were you.
Do you have fastboot installed? If not, search for it on the forum for moto-fastboot, it's just one .exe file (no installation). Also make sure you have Motorola USB drivers installed.
Download RomRacer's recovery from here (I linked you this before btw). Make sure to select the IMG version, not the ZIP. Choose whatever color you want.
Place the downloaded IMG into the same folder where moto-fastboot is, and rename it into something simple, say recovery.img.
Power off your phone and power it back on while holding Vol(-), make sure it says Fastboot on the screen, then confirm with Vol(+).
Start the command prompt and go into the folder with moto-fastboot, then connect the phone with the computer and enter this command:
Code:
moto-fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Done. Reboot with Power+Vol(-) but this time select Android recovery (use Vol(-) to move the selection). You should enter the newly installed recovery.
The ZIP you downloaded seems fine, but it's somewhat likely your boot is also messed up too. If all this goes well, you can try finding the T-Mobile fruitcake (go over to the Atrix Reboot Project thread) and flashing it from the recovery. Be aware though that you might lose all data in doing this.
Once again, I told you all this before (not in as much detail though), hopefully this time you'll actually listen.

ALRIGHT thanks for this actual guide.
It installed fine, works fine, AND AGAIN whenever I plug the wall charger in when the phone is off, it boots into the OLD OLD recovery, from the first link.
I still can't see the battery.
Please stop throwing sass at me. :crying:
Sorry, sorry.
Anyway, I'm thinking your recovery is fine, but I think somewhere down the line your boot partition got messed up. That's why I said you should try installing the T-Mobile fruitcake. (Fruitcakes are ROMs just like any other but contain the pure untouched stock firmware.)
When my phone is off and I plug it in, I get the boot logo and then the full-screen battery appears, just like it should be. However I'm not sure what this depends on. I always thought this graphics is contained within the bootloader (and thus no amount of messing around with flashing can interfere), but I could be wrong...

I can only find this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009
I downloaded the 2.3.6 ROM from the backup thread. Says nothing about T-mobile.So do I just install this from the new CWM?
Is there just no way of getting rid of CWM recovery so I can install it just once, rather than you keep telling me to install this and that?
Wait, I'm confused. You want to get rid of CWM?
The point of my previous post was to make sure you have the latest RomRacer's CWM installed fully and properly. Now that you have it installed there is no need to install it again.
Not sure what's your final goal though...?
This is the thread for the Atrix Reboot Project: http://cleanimport.xda/index.php?threads/1805666/
I think the AT&T 2.3.6 ROM should work on T-Mobile too, but in all honesty, I'm not sure. I think it'd be best if someone else answers this part.

YES!!! Because everytime I connect the damn charger it boots cwm. AND EVERYTIME I hit ANDROID RECOVERY I boot into the OLD OLD OLD OLD Recovery.
why is that hard to understand? I want to uninstall ALL the cwms, and install the one you sent me just to have that one, rather having 3 different cwms I have right now.
Also that thread is just a bunch of people talking about nothing really. HAS ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with T-mobile whatsoever.
I just want to make sure that this AT&T phone will still work with my t mobile sim card after I install ROMs!!!!
---
And for the love of all that is holy, don't reply with: "why won't it?"
BECAUSE THAT IS WHY I AM ASKING. I have never done this, that is why I ASK!!!!!
It is hard to understand because I don't know how is it even possible to have multiple recoveries installed.
At this point I would suggest you just go ahead and install the 2.3.6 fruitcake you downloaded. Make sure to boot into the CWM you just installed. (Man, even this last sentence feels weird... More than one recovery?!)

SO there is NO WAY to remove CWM recoveries?????
LOL THIS IS FUNNY! Now when I plug charger in, it just boots into OS, and when I hit android recovery with VOL buttons, it shows the white triangle.
Still don't get what that rom did. Installed it, and nothing, except for losing all my data.
This forum made things worse.
Thank you.
EDIT: OKAY NOW it shows the battery when plugged in but still the white triangle crap in the recovery.
You must have SOME recovery. You can install TWRP if you like that better, but you must have SOMETHING. By following the procedure I described you properly installed RomRacer's CWM so that part is fine. Now, why are you still sometimes getting the stock 4-option recovery - only heaven knows.
I don't think there's a way to install the stock Motorola recovery other than installing the full SBF, however SBFs are VERY dangerous and nobody is going to recommend that.
I really can't imagine what you've done with your phone. The mere fact you have multiple recoveries raises a big red flag right there. I tried to help the best way I can, but since obviously it's not doing much good, I'm going to refrain from further comments and let someone else take over. Good luck.
Ravilov has said it all but its pretty spread out trying to figure out what happened so I'm hoping I can tie it all together.
If you attempt to boot into recovery and get the old android recovery but booting normally puts you into CWM Recovery then somehow you have flashed the BOOT partition with CWM image. To fix this just download the correct fruitcake and flash the BOOT.IMG to the BOOT partition using the moto-fastboot tool and reboot. I would recommend erasing the BOOT partition first just in case.

Soft-bricked via botched kernel :(

Ok so I searched the forums before this just to let you know.
I wasn't thinking and the wrong kernel got installed as the title says. So, I got into a bootloop (expected). It hits the fan after my next step :'(
I go to bootloader, then to recovery, start up TWRP, then screen goes blank and goes back to the htc bootscreen.
The odd thing is, it now has that disclaimer on the bottom for normal boot sequence.
I have attempted flashing other recoveries, erasing my cache, fastbooting roms, and fastbooting kernels. I assume my choices are limited with S-On since most of the fastboot commands return "remote:not allowed".
Do I have to wait for a RUU?
Thank you for your time in advance
UPDATE:
Finally got Clockworkmod to boot (after reflashing it at least 5 times), sideloaded a ROM, and presto it seems to be alive. Still have that disclaimer on the bootscreen, oh well :/
IF YOU FOUND THIS BY SEARCHING
1. Fast boot flash recovery "recovery file" (I used clockwork non touch)
2. Fast boot erase cache MUST!!!
3. Boot recovery
4. Sideload Rom via adb

Glad to hear you got it working again. Anytime you install a custom ROM though, you will see the disclaimer on the bootscreen. It isn't a big deal software wise though, it just looks ugly. I'd consider that a minor inconvenience for using a better ROM without the bloat.

Bootloops into clockworkmod recovery over and over

I rolled back from MMROM to NOTTACHTRIX Today and now my phone is stuck in CWM. (Cold Boot Android by selecting Boot Anroid NO BP option doesnt work either).
I have flashed MROM, Neutrino, NOTTACHTRIX, CM10.120120720 and all ended up into clockwork mod recovery. Kindly tell me an alternative -.- I am stuck with this from past 12 hours and no luck.
Update
I have managed to boot into android using Cold Boot without BP (i-e GSM radio will be disabled). I am recharging my phone battery and experimenting.
Before flashing NOTTACHTRIX, my phone had SKT version of 2.3.5 v167. I directly went for unlocking bootloader blabla recovery to get the NOTTACHTRIX working (thats like 4 months ago when I bought this phone)
So I tried going back to a version near 2.3.5 or higher. So going for 141 AT&T version didnt seem a problem for me except the .91 version bricks the device if u downgrade from 2.3.5 or above.
RSD Lite gave me 0x703e error and I couldn't flash the stop sbf.
Second resort I did was flashing 2.3.5 and 2.3.6 fruitcakes and still ended up in recovery.
I can only coldboot into android with Neutrino ROM other roms give me rebootloop when I choose coldboot.
I am suspecting a corrupted system or some kind of corrupt script in boot which keeps me in a loop into recovery. I did try adb script for ASUS TF101 to exit recovery bootloop but to no luck.
Also, I tried exitrecovery.zip flashable and still couldnt get into regular android OS.
This device is a headache for me now -.- and seemingly no one bothers to reply or to help me solve this issue >_>
Thanks for reading atleast
Update 3
Fixed it myself.
I downloaded fastboot, 2.3.6 fruitcake (system and boot), the older clockwork mod recovery, the one comes with Bootloader unlocking not some 5.0 version.
All I did was erased RECOVERY from fastboot, then boot and system. Frasled boot and system. Rooted with the bootloader unlocker package. Installed the old recovery and flashed NOTTACHTRIX.

I have the same problem and tried several CWMs, and TWRP.
I can only boot to recovery, unless I try to boot with the BP HW Diag & Boot AP. Then I can cold-boot into Android, but with no USB support (so no ADB or charging capabilities).
I should have left my phone alone...I was running Nottachtrix just fine. Tried to flash CM 7 and then encountered this problem.
I have tried to restore, flashed new Roms, flashed new recoveries, flashed new boot.img, etc. No luck yet.
Tried the exitrecovery.zip, scripts to reset boot flags, full wipe and reload nottachtrix, flash radio, etc.
Still no luck.
Tried CWM version 4.xxx following instruction above, flashed fruitcake, rooted...still no luck.
Anyone have any advice?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, thanks for the reply. I tried this one, and the CWM touch version advertised as designed for this phone model. No luck.
Aaaand.....I got impatient and tried to flash an sbf. Stupid, I know. Now, I have a shiny new brick.
Oh well, I ordered a new one from ebay, and I will spend my free time learning about possible ways to unbrick a phone.

So here's the full story:
It would boot up and say "failed to boot 1"
It would not boot into fastboot(power on while pressing vol down). When I tried to boot into RSD(power on while pressing vol up), it would give the same error and say "PWR REASON PWR KEY PRESS" and then say Fastboot Protocol Support.
Using RSD, it would recognize the phone as being in fastboot mode, and any flashes would fail...including pudding.
Using fastboot, it would connect but give errors if I tried to flash or erase anything, like it was locked. When I tried to unlock again, it would say " OEM unlock not implemented."
This is why I figured it was bricked...the bootloader seemed hosed. Couldn't use RSD, and fastboot was useless.
But...after screwing around with it (battery pulled and re-inserted while holding various buttons) while connected to RSD, I noticed that the same error was there but somehow RSD recognized it! (I think the magic combo was to hold power and vol up while actually inserting the battery.)
So I flashed pudding, and it worked! Re-rooted, loaded CWM (using auto unlock 4.2), and the phone booted to stock config. It was still acting flaky (I don't think the sbf had loaded right), and it was unable to boot back into recovery, but I flashed CWM again using rom manager and was able to do a full recovery!
Yay!! I am ridiculously happy right now!
Anyway, when my ordered phone comes in, I will have a spare to play with. This one is staying as is from now on. (until I get bored again)

The RSD issue and not being able to do anything. you are the 4rd person that i've dealt with to have that issue. we had a guy on here a few wks ago that me and andresrivas were trying to help. he wasn't getting the bootloop you were getting, but he had a very similar issue and had the RSD issue. like a wk later, i ended up having the RSD issue as well. Andresrivas also has experienced this issue. All i know is flashing that pudding is what saved us as well.
Idk what ROM you're going to put on there, but i would definitely keep that spare around. if your digitizer dies, you have a backup digitizer
