hi,i m running cm7.2.........previously was on stock rom 2.3.4 gingerbread.back then i was using the usb tunnel successfully to use the net on my pc on my phone(with an exception of android market).....but after getting on cm 7.2,i am not able to use the usb tunnel app...the connection gets terminated....can anyone help on this issue.....thx in advance

For example lets say i wanted to play a gameloft game but i need to download additional data through Wifi, is there a way for me to use my Laptop or Pc's connection through my phone so i can download the game for my phone.

I've Googled about this problem. I have data plan in my phone and no WiFi at home. Many people like me also use this way to get connection. But what they got were "FAILED". ONLY WAY = connect TO WiFi (can't say every game, but maybe 1% can use reverse tether method)

melvinchng Same here i dont have Wifi in my house, there certian games that wont download with my carrier network and insist on me downloading through wifi. I ALREADY know how to download GAMELOFT GAMES that require wifi only but it is very inconsistant and dodgy on my x10.
Theres a wifi signal on my laptop i can connect to the but the signal on android phones are so bad i just cant connect to the router.
If your pc has wifi(I know you don't have wifi in your house) you can download and use the app connectify for windows
If your pc has a working wifi card (with drivers installed of course), then you can share its connection via wifi. If you have windows 7, you can use "Connectify" or "Virtual Router". If you have windows xp and above (on a dell pc. Don't know if it works on others), then you can use "Dell Laptop to Hotspot Converter".

for the step where it says "bridged local area connection and LG adaptor," you must find the equivalent of the lg adaptor that applies to your phone (if that makes sense). other than that, i think it should work.
What you are looking for is called "usb-internet pass-through" correct? Alot of custom roms already have it as a feature in the wifi setting, next to wifi hotspot. Im not familiar with your device or whether you are rooted but its pretty handy. Can also work as a wireless card, as in turn wifi setting on the phone and plug it into a desktop that doesnt have a wifi card and presto, wifi through your phone thats through a wireless router so its not eating up your data quota and much faster than the 3g on your phone. I'm trying to use my phone with xbox 360... I have my DDWRT router connected to my phone as a wireless repeater... everything is working.. I can connect to xbox live, but I'm getting strict NAT. I've tried opening the ports on the router, but it don't work.
Really the router wouldn't need to be configured, it more of apass through then a router. Anyone have any ideas I can try... the main port I need to open is 3074 tcp/udp for xbl.
I'm thinking is there is another port besides 3074 that is open that I can forward 3074 too.

I wanted to know if know if in a place where there is no wifi, is it possible to create an ftp server or anything similar so i can transfer files from my laptop to my phone and vice versa wirelessly, like maybe with the portable hotspot somehow...

That would be possible if your laptop has the ability to create a wireless hotspot, and you connect your phone to it and then use an FTP app. I prefer this one - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.xdevelop.rmp
For example, my Dell Studio 1555 has an Intel WiFi Link 5300 card, and the driver for it includes software called Intel My WiFi, which allows me to create a hotspot with my laptop. If I remember correctly, there are software to do the same on any laptop even if it doesn't come with the driver.

I have the strangest problem:
there is some sort of a problem in the combination of my phone and my laptop (Dell 5110N with Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1030).
If i enable tethering on my phone, and connect to it on my laptop, internet browsing doesnt work, but every other program that uses the internet seems to be working - say Dropbox keeps uploading files.
I've tried on 3 different internet browsers, and the problem is only local to my specific phone (my laptop works wifi with other tethering phones) and other devices (say my friend's galaxy s3) seems to be able to browse the internet while being tethered to my phone.
I literary have no idea whats going on and what can be dont to solve it, i'd love to get some help if possible.

trial and error Keep trying other browsers reset wireless adapter in the laptop restart both the laptop and the phone.
I strongly believe that this is a problem generated by the laptop

To make sure it is not a DNS problem you should try with ICMP from your notebook:
1. does ping gmail.com work ?
2. does ping 173.194.35.53 work ?
If one of these does not work, install LanDroid from Google Play and try the pings from your phone.

I have installed application Connectify to my laptop, i'm using this app to share my connection from LAN cable to my laptop.
Wifi signal detected, i can connect and access internet from Ipad, Blackberry device even from Galaxy note... and here come the issue ... my Razr unable to establish connection to wifi...
I'm using sharing mode WPA2, wifi signal can be detected from razr , when i put password it seems authentication also working well but the problem is razr unable to establish ... it keep request obtaining IP address repeatedly ..
need your suggestion on this

I am using it exactly like you, and it works...Wich Rom are you using? I have Magic Mod, and it works, but I think it also worked on Stock, i have only tested it once with Stock

Sometime I can connect but have no internet and stopping my antivirus works.
