Am I the only one who cannot find the dock anywhere in stock for my prime? Amazon is always out of stock and no local stores have it.
I really wanted this for the dock.... Its a transformer! I But short of paying an individual seller $250 I can't figure out how to purchase it.
How should I go about getting one?

I am now on my 4th dock. They can be found. Setup an alert over on nowinstock.net. You can receive a text and/or email when once comes up but better act FAST when it does.
Check nowinstock.net as 650hpAMG suggests, and just keep checking your local electronics retailers. Places like Bestbuy get regular shipments, however due to the popularity of this tablet and Asus's relatively low manufacturing volume they sell out very fast.
Also, Officedepot.com seems to have the gray model in stock:
http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/941611/ASUS-TF201-Tablet-Docking-Station/
Seems like the gray is easier to find than the champagne. I currently have a gray dock and a champagne tablet. I only have a few more days before my return window expires on the dock, so I will soon be without a keyboard dock until I can find a champagne dock.

My local Best Buy had about 5 of the Champagne ones on the shelf about a week ago. If no stock at your local store, they may be able to order it in from another location. The only carry the Champagne one in the store though.
Amazon via tiger Direct has em for 149.99 + 5.50 shipping right now, wasnt lthere yesterday, yesterday they were 208 else where
They're out there.
www.excaliberpc.com/ has them for around $150.
Yup, you just gotta be on your toes. My finally arrives tomorrow~ My Prime will be complete
Does the Chinese dock work with US Tablets? There are some gold docks on eBay for a decent price:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Asus-Eee-Pa...Accessories&hash=item3f145be192#ht_500wt_1110
And some grey ones for a slightly less appealing price:

EDIT: Yes the Chinese docks work fine with US Primes.

Thanks for the heads up! Picked mine up this morning. They didn't even know that they had any in stock. I had to ask them to check. This thing is even slicker with the dock!
I just got mine from office Depot. This is my first time using it. The keys aren't that bad, very easy to type on them with my fat fingers.

I have a Champagne tablet and a gray dock too. I had set up an alert at NowInStock and was in such a hurry to get my order placed that I didn't realize I was ordering a gray dock. I think the two-tone combination looks fine. Nobody cares that your tablet and dock are different colors (except you) Don't sweat it- it looks fine....

Ok, so I am looking for something temporary that makes it easy to take the tablet out and use and i think i prefer not having a zipper because i just dont think metal needs to be anywhere near the tablet when it comes to a case. So I am thinking about one of the 3 cases and they are all under $10. Free 2 day shipping with amazon prime as well. My biggest concerns with them though is that they might be to big. I dont want the tablet sliding around in it. Here are the options i have found so far:

I am kind of leaning towards the Asus one above, but the envelope style one might be nice. I didnt find any in the compatible thread that fit my needs. I will probably be getting a dock (whenever best buy has them available as i have a $100 BB gift card to burn there), nothing is in stone yet. I really wanted a case with a stand, but the asus transformer one seems like crap and the price is to high and doesnt work with the dock.
Help me make a decision as i have been shopping to long. =) I could just buy 2 of the 3, but i dont want to waste money either and Im not one to return a $10 item. I am open to other ideas as well. Thanks!

Keep your eye on It2steve's site: electroniccrap.com If you want to waiting about 9days. You will not be disappointed.
Just ordered one from ebay for 10" netbook, should only have 2cm more than the transformer on the width... should fit great with the keyboard dock and only 3.28$
Here is the link for anyone interested, (also, does anyone actually tried those sleeve and how did it fit, i am waiting for my dock to come in but the dimensions should fit or be really close...)
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250759188954#ht_4779wt_1035
as for the messenger bag, i would have definately got one from amazon but i am in canada and the shipping is monstruous and the ones from amazon.CA are 3-4 times the price so i am looking on ebay...
If you are Sam's Club member
I found a sleeve at Sam's Club for 7.88 by Case Logic. Zips shut and has a small pocket on the front the cord and power supply (I keep an micro fiber cloth for cleaning the display also). Works great with the tablet and keyboard.
I ended up getting the Asus one as it was only about $12 after overnight shipping. Will update you guys on how it fits.
Alright my fellow Canadians, if there are any, if you have a Prime you're probably just as pissed as I am about the lack of anything for this tablet up here and even more so I'm pissed at Amazon for refusing to ship anything here. SO, if you see anything for the TP in/available to Canada, post it up here
pretty sure there aren't any sleeves for the prime yet at all. I went to staples and bought a generic netbook 10.1 inch sleeve from targus. Its a little fat for the prime but I figure it'll fit in there much better when my keyboard arrives (if ever)
Basically. Just take your prime to an electronics store and see which sleeve it fits in
I'm waiting for my Prime, but I've been lurking on this sie for a case too. I was hoping to get that roo-case listed here from Amazon. I haven't tried to order it from Amazon.com, but I did read that they will ship to Canada.
What is their reason not to ship to you?
I noticed a few of the cases would ship from amazon.com to Canada - sadly, not all, but there is some selection.
So far every one on Amazon has refused to ship up here :-( just says sorry can't ship to your address

I just checked again - all the rooCASEs and the MiniSuit one listed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377669 ship to Canada sans problem (Toronto area at least). No dice for the Verteks, Moko, or Poetic ones.
Waiting to see what else shows up myself before just grabbing whats available, though.
i have got this one ,pics added.
took 3weeks from China, high quality and really good feels when holding it.

I just got the case today and I must say, it is quite a nice case. It neoprene on the outside and suede on the inside with a pouch on the outside for storing cables and such as well as a small spot for a thumb drive.

Hey guys, email them, you'll get it for next to nothing. Amazon has some stupid requirement that things have to arrive within like 5 - 10 days at max or something like that and the only way for them to meet that is to charge $25 expedited. If yoiu email them and say you're in Canada, the guy told me he'll ship it China Post but it won't be within to 5 -10 but I don't care.
Just email em direct, BCSstore or whatever, originally the guy said just order it, put a UK or China delivery address and tell him the order number with an address in CA and he'll change it. Try it out, I got mine with free shipping and expected delivery is like 10 - 15 I think. I asked the guy if others could email direct he said sure, only issue is availability of stock
On the other hand, wanted one of those matte HHI screen protectors, they sell a 3 pack for $12 and want $24 for shipping, emailed them, they basically told be to get bent
I use this one, got it at Bestbuy for about $9 too.
Not sure if it was the 9" or 10" version
but it fits perfectly even with the dock attached.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fh78LIh2-Oo
I bought this case from Futureshop and it fits well.
Tucano Finatex 10"
http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/prod...spx?path=01bc42bce3cb207837454e115277bf6fen02
It has 2 compartments and the larger one is divided in half where the back half fits the prime alone quite well. The front half would fit the prime attached to the dock or the dock separately. The smaller compartment has a mini pocket in it to hold an iPod or phone sized device with a space for headphones to travel up the strap and exit near your shoulder.
The only thing I didn't like (it isn't specific to this case) is that the USB charger wall wart has no place to go that is not a danger to the screen if the bag gets squished.
2 pages and 20 days later and the OP is still absolutely right on track:

I just can't believe how hard it is to find a sleeve/case that fits a minimum requirements.
I'd love to get the Moko, Verteks, Roocase, Vipertek, Blurex slim sleeves (the one at multi-angle, portrait only mode) as they all seem to have the necessary cutouts of ports and speaker, and would allow docking the keyboard without removing the sleeve.
Except, they are ALL unavailable on Amazon.com, and I can't find any of these anywhere else.
Only thing available are the kind of sleeves/cases which cover the front side areas of the tablets which to me, is a no go as these can not be used alongside a dock ; or those like the MiniSuit which doesn't have a stand for the tablet alone.
Worse than that, the same thing goes for the screen shields ! It's impossible to get one here in Canada.
I can't wait to start using my tablet all the time (and get rid of my aging netbook) but I'm just too afraid to scratch it.
Really frustrated at this situation. And I did spend at least 4-5 hours in the past 2-3 days researching all the above.
Can someone that did this combo post some detailed photos? I'm considering doing this combo since grey docks often pop up online and b&m.
I'm really tired if Asus's lack of communication. I don't care about a supposed 3g rumor.... I just want to know when they plan on selling champagne docks.
It sucks that they have such little to say about all of the issues. It's starting to annoy me how they're only worried about pushing more prime sales on their fb/twitter and not worried about current owners.
Sheesh that's pretty lazy. It took me about 2 minutes to find the following:

Or you could be patient. Asus clearly is on the learning curve when it comes to these types of consumer gadgets. The champagne dock is available in Europe. It's just a matter of time until it's out in the US.
Edit: links fixed.

FYI, links are busted.
I should have this configuration by Saturday when my gray dock arrives at my local Best Buy. Unless there is some sort of delay/mix-up, but that never happens with Best Buy...
I am quite confused
Anybody out there dealing the same.
AMAZON (DE) has just canceled my pre-ordered GOLD keyboard dock. I pre-ordered it long ago in November 2011.
I spoke to Amazon's customer service and they declared that the golden version will not be available in Germany as a stand-alone device and that there had been only some golden docks bundled with the 32gb version of the tablet. However the grey dock stays in offer but the ETA is 1-2 month.
So, the bootom line is quite clear. Amazon (DE) has simply given up on begging ASUS for a shipment of golden docks.
Hopefully, other shops like cyberport.de or redcoon.de will have a bit more staying power cause I am so eager to get a golden keyboard for my golden tablet...
PS: I stress "golden" beacause - you would not imagine or you just would - the customer service proposed to order a grey dock instead of a golden one. Ok, we all know: it's customer service ...
What the??? I've been searching shops for weeks to find a available dock in gold with the german layout. That's horrible news Hopefully the dock pops up in other shops. It would suck not to be able to get the dock. That's at least 1/3 of the primes charme...
Weird. Amazon US has Champagne Gold Primes in stock right now, a new shipment that just went on sale today.

We are talking about the dock only in champagne gold, not the tablet.
Of course, there are gold primes and there are as well bundles (tablet 32g + keyboard dock). But believing amazon we will never get champagne gold docks stand-alone in Germany, only gray ones. Unbelievable, isn't it.
In Europe the docks are mostly only sold paired with the tablet.
In my country you cannot by any dock what so ever.

Gotcha, sorry, missed that point. I was actually wondering if ASUS was ditching the Champagne Gold period, both tablets and docks, and then was surprised to see Amazon get some Primes after all this time.
I remember somebody having Champagne docks either last week or the week before, but I can't remember who. It sure does seem like ASUS isn't making any.
For anyone who's desperate for a dock, I'll note that I'm actually using a Champagne Prime with a Gray dock, and I find the combination to be quite striking. The Champagne is going back for a different reason, likely to be replaced by one of the $399 HH Gregg Gray models, and I'm actually a little disappointed. Don't discount the mismatch, it actually looks pretty nice.

Yap, I knew I could rely on them.
As Amazon killed my order I called Cyberport to ask what they will do about my order and they told me to stand by them and to be patient as they will definetly be able to get this dock in Germany.
And so here we are: They shipped mine today.
This is not Amazon's or Germany-specific stance. Transformer Prime is only sold with the dock in Europe. If there's a tablet sold separately from the dock then it is possibly an import from US.
This is because according to their research people in Europe prefer to buy the tablet with the dock and not separately. I have no idea what the numbers were, but this has been stated a few times in the past already.
So if you bought the tablet from US, also buy the dock from US, as the tablet was not intended to be sold without the dock in Europe.
you got your facts wrong. you CAN buy the tablet without the dock in germany. there are two packages available.
1. the prime with 32gb storage PLUS the dock
2. the prime with 64gb storage WITHOUT the dock
i for example bought the 64gb version and now ordered a separate dock. you just can't buy the 32gb version without a dock here.

Ah alright, thank you for correcting me. ASUS told me they won't sell docks separately in EU, which made me think they won't sell tablets separately either. But apparently it's messed up.
Biggest problem here is of course the fact that EU has different keyboard layouts, which makes it tough to order dock from elsewhere either.
The dock situation has been ridiculous everywhere. The TP is really only worth it when you get the dock imo. It's nice enough on its own but the SD card slot on dock, extra battery life, USB port, etc are what make the product for me.
I too had a 64 gb gold tab and couldn't find the dock anywhere (US). Finally I bought it from an Amazon reseller (Paid $269, which sucks but I had some points no Amazon CC so didn't care too much).
Honestly I suggest going a similar root and just trying to get one at a premium via ebay or Amazon US. If it's true that Amazon US has them in stock now, that's great, maybe someone can hook you up if you cannot order directly.
Basically, Im just saying it is worth getting the dock, even at a premium. It completes the device and makes it 5x more usable.
Goodluck... Only one to blame here is Asus imo. As much as I like their products, they really suck at product launches.
I am trying to get a feel for how many people have the keyboard dock (and how many are still waiting)
I have a Champagne tablet and had a grey dock for a while but returned it because the return Window was running out. Now I have been trying to get my hands on a Champagne dock but can't find one anywhere.
I got mine a little while ago from newegg during a (very) short window where they had them in stock. I haven't really been watching recently, but if it's anything like it was before you just gotta keep checking a lot of different sites. If you're trying to buy it from a store then I would suggest calling them often and when you do call them try and find the item id # first because sometimes if you ask for it by name they won't find it, but if you give them the # they somehow magically do. Also make sure to confirm that on the box it says CK(or something, you might have to look it up) instead of GR(once again not 100% sure on the exact letters) so you know its champagne and not grey. Good luck finding one.

I just picked up my grey dock today, to match my grey tablet. I'm pretty impressed with it so far. I love the unibody aluminum, which feels very solid and well engineered. The hinge, which worried me the most, feels actually surprisingly sturdy. To say that this feels like a netbook is not an exaggeration - to be honest, you could probably show this to anybody who didn't know it was a tablet and they would think it was one.
The keys are well spaced (for a netbook keyboard), but if you don't have problems typing one a netbook you won't have trouble with this. I believe it's 92%, which is more than sufficient. The keys have a decent amount of travel but I wish they were bit more "clicky" as they feel a tad mushy to me. A minor complaint : putting the backspace key beneath the sleep button? Annoying. Making it so it doesn't also wake? Extra annoying.
Touchpad is responsive (sometimes a bit too much) and works well overall. Scrolling is too touchy but I have yet to find a netbook that handles this well so I guess I'm not too disappointed. Plus I tend to scroll via touching anyway.
All in all, a solid purchase, especially when you consider that you're basically getting a four-for-one : keyboard, battery pack, case/stand, and a USB adapter (the usefulness of which cannot be overstated). Separately these would all probably run $150 and you wouldn''t have the convenience of the slick package.
I'll update my post again after a couple of days, but so far it seems pretty great.
I have the Champagne tablet and Champagne dock... The dock is hard to find, I signed up at nowinstock.net and they sent me alerts when someone had them instock. It took awhile but I got one.
I have the Grey/Grey combination and really like the solid feel of the whole thing when it's locked together.

Glad you are liking the dock. There are few small quirky things with it that you mentioned (i.e. sleep button) but the pros definitely outweigh the cons. I have been without mine for a few days now and am definitely missing it. The dock really completes the 'Transformer experience'.
When I returned mine to BestBuy, they were trying to get me to exchange it (like they always do) and I told them if they had the Champagne I would gladly exchange it. So she radioed the tablet department and asked if they had any Champagne docks for the Transformer Prime (I already knew they didn't ... at least on the shelf anyways as I had already looked). Sure enough someone radioed back and said they were bringing one up. So I thought, sweet, maybe they had them 'in the back' or something. So I waited a few minutes and when she finally came up to customer service, she had the original Transformer dock. I'm like, no that is not it... the original dock is not compatible with the Prime. Shouldn't have gotten my hopes up, as I just ended up doing a normal return.
The first time that I went into BestBuy looking for a dock for the Prime (before I actually bought my Grey one) I asked someone in the tablet department if they had any Prime docks in yet and she took me right over to the original Transformer docks, handed me one, and said here you go. I told her that I was looking for the dock for the Prime and she said, "ya we don't have any of those in yet but the old one is 100% compatible with the Prime". I knew this was incorrect but she continued to be persistent about it. Eventually she left to go help someone else and I just put the one she handed me back on the shelf and walked out.

Ya, I have been using NowInStock.net for a couple of months now. I just now signed up for an account and email alerts though, so hopefully that will improve my chances of getting one.
I had been under the impression that NowInStock was a relatively new web site but when I signed up for an account it said that they have been around since 2005.
Edit:
Unbelievable. Not even 10 minutes after I posted this I got an email alert saying the Champagne is available at Amazon. I added one to my cart and got all the way to checkout and it finally said it is no longer available. The Champagne's product page on Amazon now says: "In stock on March 8, 2012". I was so close.

I added one to my cart and got all the way to checkout and it finally said it is no longer available. The Champagne's product page on Amazon now says: "In stock on March 8, 2012". I was so close.

I had the same thing happen to me a couple of weeks ago. I was at my computer when the alert arrived. I was at Amazon within 20 seconds. 'Had it in my cart and paused for a few seconds to debate if I should pay the $3.99 for overnite (Amazon Prime member). It was already too late.
From that, i learned that you need to finalize the transaction ASAP, which is how i inadvertently ended up with a gray dock for my champagne prime. (Moving so fast that I missed that tiny little detail). I'm happy with the two-tone look though. Besides, nobody else notices, and they certainly don't care. It's not like driving around with a red door on a blue Pinto.
Currently in the UK we can only get the Prime with the dock. I have the champagne version as grey was pretty much sold out every where when I checked. I don't regret it though. It looks ace and I love being able to use the screen or keyboard to do whatever. I mostly use the touch screen to select what I want rather than use the pad and wait for the cursor to get there
The only time I detach the tablet from the dock is for games that don't use the keyboard/control pad and then I love how light yet sturdy the Prime tablet feels.
I am so happy with this purchase. My best in a while though soon it will have company as I am due an upgrade for my mobile around the time the new Tegra 3 phones are due
Just order one.

Champage and Dock
Champagne tablet and Champagne dock
love the color/look. i dont like the way the grey looks either. Does anyone have a problem with the tablet dock when only charging the tablet, where the cord bends the topside of the metal? the thin flimsy piece on the top side of the port.
Had a grey dock but I was misled and got a bilingual one so I sold it and now they have all but dried up here in Canada I cant wait to get a non frog edition dock to use it to its full glory again.
Picked up both my grey Prime and grey dock at B&H
I have to say, im a little surprised with the numbers so far. I was expecting to see more people without the dock.
one of the few two-toners.. grey dock.
Just picked up my dock(drove an hour and a half), first impression, love it. Even with my "sausage fingers" able to crank out about 50wpm. Plus all the other things it does, definitely need to find one. Lucky enough to get gray on grey. Used. nowinstock.net very helpful.

I'm sort of debating on picking one up, but i'm afraid of two things:
wouldn't this decrease my laptop use (though the transformer has already done this a little lol)?
Do you use the touchscreen of the tablet less often?

It depends on what you are trying to use your tablet for. on the go to yes i might use it more. but there are still things your tablet wont do that a laptop can. I use the keyboard and the touch screen. I use my tablet if i just want to look at face book or something like that. There are still limits as to what i can do and the efficiency of it. If you have an android smart phone think of it like that just bigger.

The dock adds longer battery life to your tablet.

i have learned to type and both use my touch screen. It's by far has becomed my experience priceless and much greater then a laptop. Using splashtop turns my tfp into a laptop. It's truly amazing.
