[Q] Sprint TV on View? - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I downloaded the Sprint TV apk from my EVO 3D to my View today so I could watch the Daytona races live on Speed Channel, however it wouldn't work. It's not available in the market for the View but works fine and is free on the EVO 3D.
The app opens and shows the available channels, but they all have a $ on the icon indicating a subscription is required. I can't buy a subscription to them either. Anyone know how the get the app to work on a View running original Gingerbread never rooted? I searched but didn't come up with anything.
Thanks,
Richard

List of apps available in US only?

Hi guys,
I'm testing my new DD-WRT PPTP router and I would like to see if I can download any market apps specific to US only, while located in Canada. My Google account country is United States and I can view fine all Netflix videos available only for US, on my tablet. I also did a movie purchase on Google Videos, downloading as we speak. So far so good...
Can you name few free US only apps that are not installed by default in a 10.1 Tab? For example, Amazon Kindle is not installed on my vanilla 3.1 Honeycomb but is available for download in the Market. I install it fine... I want to test if the US apps install properly on my hacked network. Thanks for your help.
I think I got a winner... The Google TV Remote app is for Google TV, which is available only in States. I can install the app fine on the Tab, but not on my Galaxy S2 which is a Canadian device.
Can you install Google TV Remote on your Tab located outside US? Thanks.

[Q] HTC View Internet Passthrough question

I just "upgraded" my Flyer to a HTC View... Wanted the extra space, cellular service, etc. and HTC is the only company that has nailed what I want in a tablet.
Now my work place just said we can bring in electronics but it has to be in airplane mode. I was searching to see if there is any way I can get the internet to the tablet...
I saw that the HTC Flyer has an internet pass through option, which sounds like what I need. I can plug into my work internet computer with USB.
Does the View also have this option (it's at home and my Googling is failing me.) Also, how well does this internet pass through mode work?
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Looks like it is possible! While not mentioned as much in detail, it is listed as an option at the end of the HTC View .pdf manual. I'm stoked! I'll try it out tonight. It'll be cool to have it at work as a little picture frame / Google Music beta music player while I'm working. If it works.... Thanks, HTC!

NBA Gametime 2011-2012?

I'm having trouble finding if this app would even work on the tablet. They are offering league pass mobile for $40 and I would really like to get it, but only if it would work on my tablet since it really isn't worth it just for my phone.
Does anybody have any info about this?
It's on android market. I tried to download it but it's not compatible with my device. Can some download it and post link with apk?
For some reason it's not showing up in the market for Honeycomb devices. I emailed NBA Digital, and they gave me a "no answer answer." I'll try to dig up an .apk
I'd be happy to pay for the app, but since I'm in australia I can't access it on the market. Hope I can find an apk soon!
the app is a sprint based app and is not available for wifi tab only a sprint tab since nba is in contract with the nba. you are better off trying to go to the league pass site through your tablet than searching the market, or maybe possibly just watching it through your tablets browswer

I tried watching through the browser and all I can get is audio. The video would never show up. Would be great to get this app then use HDMI out to the TV

ATT Version only launches DirectTV?

Is there really no setting or config that I can get the default normal Samsung View TVServices page? I have ATT but I have TimeWarner and would prefer to have that quick menu for twitch/TimeWarner/HBOGo.....but literally any and everywhere I click it launches DirectTV. If anyone has any suggestions they'd be greatly appreciated!
Nope. On the AT&T version DIRECTV is hard-coded as the app launched as the Streaming home page. I deactivated it and disabled the little streaming launcher icon. Like you, I'd like to use it for the other streaming channels on it also but it is what it is. We have LTE through and no other View on the planet does as far as I know.

Thanks for the response, at least now I can stop searching lol. I had tried about 50 different things. Kind of annoying they have it locked to that extent but as you say, it is LTE.

CW Network app?

Hi everyone. CW Network recently released a new VOD app for Apple TV, Roku, and Xbox, and Fire TV... but not Android TV. Someone on Reddit was kind enough to rip the Fire TV apk and post it for people to try, but there are a couple of issues. One is the Amazon ownership check (which doesn't seem to allow it to run even if you have the CW app on Amazon's app store), and the other is a strange error message about network connectivity. Could anybody take a look at it and see if it can be hacked to work on the Shield?

..
The guy who ripped it says that the leanback intent was already in place.

I'll pull out my old Fire TV stick from storage and pull the apk this evening.
Edit:
Decided to try right away. The CW app was added to my amazon account and installed on my Fire Stick directly from Amazon. It still gave the connection error. There must be an issue with the app if the app is still giving a connection error on a Android device it was designed to be used on. I'm assuming CW will released an update to fix the problem soon enough. When they do, I can remove the amazon checks.

Weird, it works perfect on my Fire TV and Stick downloaded directly from Amazon. It doesn't work on any Android TV device though. I don't know how to crack the app. Someone needs to crack the app and see if he can get it working.
..
Would you be able to remove the checks on the PlayStation Vue Firetv app as well? I would love to be able to use it on my Shield.
Its not letting me post the link since I am a newer member but please let me know if you can do it and I'll DM you a download link.
Thanks!
..
Thanks for putting all this effort in. I'm away from home (and my Shield) this week, but I will try it when I get back.
Finally had the opportunity to try it. It no longer throws the ownership error, but still throws the connection error.
..
Cool. I'll keep an eye out for that, and I'll reply if I find anything regarding a new APK. Thanks!

Anything new happening on this front?
There are two network connections made at the initialization of the app. They are both going to Amazon WS. Both appear to have issues, probably because the User-Agent isn't a Fire TV UA, and the request that gets the license reports "android" from the Shield whereas the Fire version reports "amazonfire" on the posted data. Because of the differences, the license returns "invalid" on the JSON response.
If the responses that come back from the Fire stick were to come back to Shield, the app would function perfectly. I had changed the two URLs to my local webserver to return the good responses, and I could browse and watch episodes without issue. Beautiful picture.
With that, the app is very specifically blocking Android TV devices.
EDIT: Correction, the User-Agent is not used. It is just the "amazonfire", which is based on one piece of code. A small modification gets this working without needing to host the two response files.
Attached is an apk to try out.
** Edit: current version doesn't work anymore. Removing ***
That's awesome. I'll try this when I get home from work today. Would it be difficult to do this to the USA and Cartoon Network apps as well?
Seems to work awesome. I was able to watch an episode of the flash without issue
I took a look at USA Network and the Cartoon Network apps. The Amazon app for USA Network is a webapp, so it is unlikely to work without bigger modifications. Cartoon Network appears to have a few issues (title bar displays all the time, no leanback launcher banner icon, Amazon hooks). I'll take a look, but at least they have added casting support to the Cartoon Network Android app for now.
Thanks for posting The CW App, while the Content seems sparse, and not really my thing (DC Comic Universe), it does at least work, and thats something.
