Headphones with Mic for Note - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Hello everyone, Need some advice on picking up a pair of headphones that I can use to listen to music and also make calls. Apart from the Klipsch made specifically for Android, is there anything else out on the market? I really wanted the bose but read on a few sites that they dont full function correctly. I have iPhone buds that I can listen to music but the mic does not work but work fine with my Nexus S.

I use these
amazon.com/V-MODA-Noise-Isolating-Headphone-Universal-One-Button/dp/B002XYUHFY/ref=sr_1_12?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1330051591&sr=1-12
They work great with my Note.

Thanks, I am looking for standard earbuds not those noise cancellation.

I picked up the skullcandy ones from att , they were 39.99. I know they are probably not great especially for the the price but honestly I like them alot. Decent bass to treble mix and ppl say they hear me very well when I use them.
Sent to you from the NOTE.

I got some Ifrogz in ear headphones that work get at Walmart the other day. They have a Mic and a button that functions like the iphone button. I believe they were $16. The sound is pretty good I think.

they are standard buds not sure why it says noise cancellation. plus noise cancellation would be way more than 30 bucks.

Sorry i am not being clear but i am talking about the non isolator ones. I am looking for something like the standard iphone style not like the in ear ones.

I have a pair of Altec Lansing muzx I believe they are called. Woot sells them from time to time for like 5 bucks. For the price and with the mic, they are solid. Its a braided and coated cable, just wish the 3.5mm was a right angle plug and not a 90° plug that I will surely break in my pocket eventually.

I have a pair of the klipsch s4a's. When plugged in my phone still uses its own mic instead of the inline mic.anybody have the sameissue or anyoneknowhow to fix?

I used the one that came with my Skyrocket
That I passed on to my gf. Works great for some Oem Samsung earbuds.
-On another NOTE, Samsung goes 5.3"

I use some skullcandy ones that I guy from target for $20. They work great.

$7.99 apple earphones with mic on ebay from dailysteals

I just tried my Zagg headphones and the paus/play/forward/back button works. I would recommend these headphones if you can find them for cheap, especially since they replace them if they stop working. I don't think they are worth full price.
Tried my Bose AE2 and the play/pause/forward/back button works but not the volume controls.

how do you like those? they look really gimmicky to me.

I am using the one that came with the Samsung Focus (windows phone ). It works great. The mic, volume control, pick up and end call function works too. I actually had a $40 skull candy earbud... but the volume control didn't work. I use it with double twist and when i press the on and off button it plays music using double twist. press twice quickly and it goes to the next track. press 3 times and goes reverse. i <3 OEM

Good earbuds needed

What is a good earbud headset that doesn't cost a fortune, meaning less than $25 or so. Wired is what i'm looking for as i'm not big on BT headsets. I don't need anything ultra high quality, just something that works well. I'd also like for it to have a inline mic. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've looked at so many my head spins. It's hard to tell what's good or not and you can't always go by price. Figured someone would have a set that they really liked over the others.
I just get the stock ones that came with my captivate, they sound good and are durable, don't hurt your ears.
Amazon has them for about six bucks. Just search for captivate or infuse earbuds they are black with opaque white buds and inline mic.

The OP said he needs them under $25. So for the price, Skullcandies are excellent.
They meet his needs. other than the JVC Marshmallows, they are the best sounding pair for the PRICE RANGE in my opinion.
On another note, I was interested in the S4As. I read a review
on amazon for them that the controls don't work with the Sprint galaxy S II and I was afraid that the same would be true for the AT&T variant. Do you own them? can you deny or comfirm?
I have the S4i's as I came from an iPhone to the galaxy. the mic and controls don't work with the phone (aside from the pause and play button.) wanted to get the 4A's but being that there's now a 5i and that I wanna try wireless I personally am looking for a stereo bluetooth option.

This is the quandry i've run into. There's literally hundreds of choices and some are known to be bad and some aren't. I'm just trying to find a good set for a good price that WORK, haha.
I had my old Cappy earbuds that I liked but alas my oldest son has lost them somewhere. They didn't work with everything on the cappy so i'm fairly sure they won't work on the GSII either.

How well do they fit in your ears? I've tried several Ipod flat style ear buds and none of them seem to fit in my ears very well. They will stay in but nothing like the cushiony inserts of the samsung ones.

I use these all day long at work. The control button works as expected with the players I've used (music app, Pandora, Beyondpod, Audible).
I use my phones for music more than anything. For the past couple years I've used a countless number of earbuds. (Gym, bike, motorcycle, work, bus)
Klipsch S4s are the best bang for the buck by far. I bought mine at Best Buy and opted for the 2 year warranty. Taking the phone in and out of my pocket a lot tends to wear the cord at the connector. Their worth the investment.

i had the S10's.. paired pretty good.. they are not very comfortable tho and you can find them cheaper online elsewhere, around $45.
I had the original S-9's, and they paired well - sounded good too. Watch the knock-offs tho, they are NOT the same, and they won't pair well,or sound good either!

For sure, tons of knock offs on eBay. I got the S-9's but don't use them as much as I used too. They pair well and can be a decent distance from the phone and still pick up signal. If you have a large melon, they may be a bit tight and uncomfy though.

The difference between the knockoffs and the legit ones is the buttons. My S9 has super sensitive buttons, you can just lightly press it and it will stop, skip tracks etc. The knockoffs you have to physically press the buttons firmly. It worked but felt very uncomfortable mashing a button while something is in your ear. My coworker swooped up the knock offs for like $25 on ebay. Also mine came with a Blue Tooth adapter for an ipod, works excellent.
Is there a specific reason you want in ear headphones?
Id say pick up a set of over the ear bluetooth headsets. I had a set of motorola s805's they were good. also had a set of jaybird sb2's which were sick.
Im now rocking a set of the new Beats by dre bluetooth headphones.
If you are stuck on in ear headsets check out jaybird they have an entire bluetooth product line with great support and service.
But i really think you should try over the ear (Your hearing will thank me later)

Then i would definetly recommend Jaybird headphones as they are specifically engineered towards athletes and runners. They have a brand new set of freedom headphones which although I have yet to try look very well built and thought out.

I have a pair of the S9 and S10 Motorola headphones. I bought the S10s as an 'upgrade' but that turned out to not be the case, unfortunately. They weren't as loud and the sound just didn't seem as 'full'. Really the only positive thing about them is that they NEVER cut out on me, and had much better range. My S9s are more comfortable, louder, sound better, but they did cut out at certain angles(probably because I mainly used them with my phone in my pocket instead of on an arm band as recommended).
I just got a pair of the JayBird Freedom headphones for Christmas and they are definitely the best way to go and worth the extra money. The sound and fit is probably as good as you can possibly get with bluetooth in-ear headphones, and of course they have the sweat-proof warranty. I would recommend getting the JayBird's over EVERYTHING else, especially if you're using them for running and working out, as I do. You won't regret it!

It's not the same cord but it is a usb to some small connection. You can plug it into any 5 volt source like pc or HTC's plug.
I have those headphones use it for soccer practice, gym, and work. I have had no problem with them at all the only thing not a major issue for me I had to take off the red pads on the inside since my sweat was un-gluing them. I jump and run with them with no problem in fact its the opposite from slipping out I have to take them off for a second because it pushes in me ears at times.
I got a pair of S9HD a year ago and they shorted out, I called Motorola and RMA'd them, a week later I had brand new S10HD in my hands. Like the S9HD these things are not the most comfortable things in the world and do not mesh well with sunglasses unless you flip them over and wear them R in left ear L in right. I have no problems with pairing and the battery life seems really good, better than the S9HD for sure.
Would I recommend to buy? no, there are other products on the market that work and fit just as well or better for much cheaper.

Ive tried sony and jvc. The sony's sound good but ghe volume controls dont work. The jvc's just sound flat out horrible. The klipsch app says it doesnt work specifically with the galaxy s 2 phones. My basic needs are good sound, working controls (volume will probably not be one of them), and a reasonable price.
I've tried many and can say without a doubt, the best money I ever spent on my phone was my headset.

The battery lasts for about 8 hours of constant listening, the mic is excellent, you have control over your music with FF/Rev, pause, skip, make a call, answer a call etc.
Wink
It's a shame skullcandy doesn't allow their controls to work with Android. I think it's some deal with Apple. They work flawlessly with all of my ipods. Play/pause and answering calls works fine but volume control won't work.

All I need is a mic and one button. It can work as pause/play, answer/end call and (with Poweramp) long-press to skip to the next track. I don't care about volume control, and the only other requirement is that they're the in-ear ones.
I'd really like to get away with spending around $30 or less.
In fact, the stock Samsung headphones from my old Vibrant were great and were what I had been using, but something happened to the right side bud and it died.
I've got some klipsch s4 and i got them cheap as dirt. Paid around 20 bucks for them. I would HIGHLY recommend those to anyone

Anyways, I recommend my current buds. These offer phenomenal sound for the money. Denon AH-C560R. If you want a trial run some best buy stores in the USA stock them you can try them and return 'em.
Although if you think the Klipsch S4 are expensive then you may not want these...great sound stage and very good bass. It provides me a fix when I'm not using my "home system".

I definitely do not want to spend more than $30 on headphones I'll only be using at work. I move around a lot and the cord sometimes gets snagged on things.
In any case, I was cleaning my desk and found my old Jabra BT3030 A2DP "tag", and it still works. I'll just use that with my current headphones (they're crap, but they were really cheap crap - $10). Thanks all. Oh, and apologies to sicmadek for jacking his thread!

I think you'd probably like Skullcandy inkd with mic. You can get them online for $15 - $25. They have the one button like you want and sound decent. Definitely not audiophile good but for the money and features they work pretty well. I upgraded to the Titans but I don't think the sound is much better. I wanna try some of the higher end stuff but I should wait for my 3 pairs of skullcandy buds to die first.

[Q] Are there any bud/hook earphones good for working out and have working mic

Ok, here's the deal. I have some power beats phones that I used with my Galaxy S2, and the mic and center play/pause button worked great. I bought a Note and the mic doesn't work. (Damnit) So I bought the Phillips SHS8105A. Well these don't stay deep enough in the ear canal when running with any of the buds to here the bass good. So then I bought the Klipsch S4A earbuds. I ran like 10 steps and the left bud fell out, SMH. So these will not be my solution either. I would love to just use my problem free power beats, so I guess I'm wondering if the problem is software or hardware based. Works on the S2 but not the Note? Could it just be a file missing that enables it? If it didn't work on a phone from the same company it wouldn't be driving me crazy, Lol. Any opinions, help is welcome

Hope this helps.
I use MEElectronics M6-CL sport from Amazon only 20 bucks. This includes many different ear pieces for a tight comfortable fit and a case to hold everything. They sound great, and they stay in your ears when your running. I run about six miles a week no problems with the head phones.

Klipsch Image S4A or Shure SE215?

Hello everyone, I'm going to upgrade my set of headphones in the next week and have narrowed it down to the Klipsch Image S4A's and the Shure SE215's. I wanted to know your guy's opinion on which ones are going to give me the best bang for my buck.

I have the s4a's and I love them to death. I had beats tour in ears before and they are way better then the beats. Oh, and welcome to the site
Where did you get your S4A's from? I found them at best buy on sale for $80. I was thinking of getting them for a week then returning them and getting the SE215's so I can compare the two. And thanks I've been around for awhile but I never posted before until now.

I have the S4a's and I like them a lot. Great sound quality (I've tried numerous earbuds from Sennheiser and MEElectronics), multiple tips to fit your ear, carrying pouch. They suggest you use the Klipsch Control app in the Market. I don't know if anybody else with these can comment - unfortunately when I double-click the inline control to try to skip tracks, it will also redial the last called number on my phone, which of course isn't what I want to do. So I actually don't use their app and instead just rely on stock functionality to use the button to play/pause with one click, and I use the long-press-volume mod in MeanBean ROM to skip tracks.
S4 hands down. I had them and loved them. However the audiophile bug bit me and i upgraded to Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 and a Fiio E7 amp lol
another vote for the s4's. I have the reference s4's. I find the quality to be just as good as (with a slightly less prominent bass) my $200 sennheisers.
Theyre not the s4a version, but its the same hardware without the mic and button. Occaisonally they go for under $50, but you can usually find them from $50-$60.
The trade off of the s4a's would be the added bulk, which isnt much, but its enough to get caught on something or snag your jacket, for the functionality of a mic and a single button. I occaisonally find myself wishing i got the s4a's, but i love the slightly slimmer design on the regular ones.
Another reason i went for the reference s4's is because they comes with a little tin box (severely dented now), the size of an altoids can. I'm not sure why it appealed to me so much, but i liked it better than the s4a's accessories.
Can't go wrong either way. They're nice and durable too, but you should keep them in whatever tin or pouch comes with it.
cheers

The double click redial issue only started after jellybean. I tried on my gf's EVO which still has ics on it and works fine. Maybe it related to sense

I can't speak for the Shures, but I had a set of the Klipsch S4's and liked them a lot, in spite of a couple of small faults. They sounded great, as long as I was sitting relatively still. Walking or running, there was a lot of cord noise transmitted and the cord itself was heavy enough to pull the buds out my ears when it was bouncing around (a little clip solved that problem). And yes, I know how to pick the right tips to get the right (tight) fit in my ears. Also didn't like the long-ass straight plug - I prefer the right-angle plugs because I tend to put my phone upside-down in my pocket.
After a cat chewed through the cord on my S4s (he's no longer with us...), I picked up a set of the Ultimate Ears 350 and couldn't be happier. Better deep bass extension without being muddy, better fit, and right-angle plug. Plus I think they're generally cheaper.
Well my Shure's came in yesterday and I haven't found anything to complain about yet. They sound amazing compared to the $20 Sony earphones i had before. The sound isolation is really good on these. With the volume only half way I can't here anything else whatsoever.

I just got some the klipchs this week as well. Also upgraded from a cheap pair of sonys.
These things rock!
Heads up for anybody looking to buy some S4a's. Just got this email today from Amazon. $40. Never heard of Woot but they look legit. I bit the bullet for a pair.

I used the s4a's currently using the s4a2's (the new and improved version). These are by far the best ear buds I ever owned and much better than the beats brand. The control app is s*** because it crashes sometimes when the phone is asleep (meaning, no sure control when phone is asleep) BUT there are other, much better control apps out on the Play store. They are expensive but if you treat them well, they will last a long time.

I've had two pairs of the klipsch s4. Could really feel the lows but distorted on the highs. I still would buy another pair though. These are legit
My s4a's are solid, they've essentially replaced my larger cans.
I wholeheartedly recommend them for anybody looking for a solid pair of headphones. Sure they're not 25 dollar headphones, but they don't sound like 25dollar headphones...
I hope you enjoy them
