hey, since i see a few roms are being built to support the new baseband, how do i know if i have the new baseband or how can i update the new baseband.
if you are using official stock gingerbread 2.3.3 from lg then you are on new baseband (v20).
if using official stock froyo or lower from lg then you are on old baseband (v10).
If you are on custom rom , then post whats written in
settings->about phone->baseband ??

no need for root, you'll have to root after you install though. 2.1 update1 is the most recent update, so it wont show an update

I flashed that fw no prob, it has minor differences to the fw you have now but newer bb67. Look for the sticky post "flashtool for noobs" this tells all you need to know.

Kindly read the sticky thread which links to a howto. (You cannot flash baseband via ZIP from recovery, so stop asking over and over again.)
You flash official rom and cook. So theres a new baseband.
Vice versa

What's the purpose of this baseband ordeal ? Ive heard alot about it and Im not to sure if it's something I need or even want
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if any of you with a p509 flashed gingerbread and got it working? I tried but network was not there.
If you did, did you make changes to the build prop? Before or after rom flashed?

have you ever flashed official gingerbread before? if youre trying to go back to another (unofficial) gingerbread rom, you are going to run into some problems.
official gb = new baseband
pretty much all unofficial gb roms = old baseband
I did flash the new one but the gsm wasn't working so I had to go back to the old baseband.
Sorry for the really late reply!
