if i unlocked my prime then something happened then switched serial number stickers with a locked prime then sent it back would it work? or would asus know that it was unlocked?

Serial numbers also stored in setting > about tablet > status. If you can get rid of that then sure why not

Yes they would know, no you can't wipe out the serial number and even if you found a way to change it (doubtful) you probably wouldn't have a valid one
okay thanks guys i was just wondering

I. Know this is a dumb question but how do i know if i have a unlocked bootloader i bought a used prime online but not sure if bootloader is unlocked is their a way to check
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
One way to check is to check the root of the sdcard for a file called unlock_time.txt

1. See if you can get OTA update.
2. Contact Asus through e-mail or phone, and give them your serial number, and ask if it is unlocked.
Try using the blob downgrade method. If it bricks then your bootloader was unlocked.

why, if asus supply an unlocker for the prime why not supply a tool to root/unlock? what benefit is and unlocked prime without root?

Corrected for grammar.
Anyways, you can still flash cwm using the fastboot method which means that you can get into a custom rom and have root.

Do we need to be locked and stock for these to work ? I've tried CM9 nightly and aokp and with either ROM I get no GPS connectivity at all.

The rom has to be based off of .21 from what I've read
Being locked probably doesn't matter after, but if you have an unlocked s/n you aren't going to get the dongle.
