Galaxy Note Sound :-D - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I must say the sound on this phone is ****ing IMPRESSIVE this phone plus poweramp with Bowers and wilkins C5 in ear headphone is ****ing love
Blows my iPhone 4s outa the water its so loud i cant even stand it all the way i LOVE it
this has to be the damn best phone Samsung has made i dont think i will ever go back to the iPhone
this phone makes my iPhone look like a Childrens Toy with that small screen

loudness does not equal quality...its already been noted that the note's DAC is less than stellar

sounds fine to me so far
1 issue im having is when i get a notfaction txt or email it will stop my headphones and play it thru the phone speaker for a short second is there a way to stop this?

Just to comment further on the screen, my sister in law was looking at a couch on craigslist on her iphone. She handed me the phone and I couldn't believe the difference between that tiny screen and the one on the Note. Iphones really do suck.

motorola s9 sound quality

ive seen mixed reviews what do you guys think?
I bought one on ebay, possible fake, not quite sure. The item had amazing clarity in sound quality, however it kept breaking up over and over and didn't work in my pocket while walking.
Since then I've ordered the Jabra BT3030 and couldn't be happier with the item. It works flawlessly no matter where my Android is.
Mine should arrive in a day or two. I can then give comments on quality.
I really hope mine will work better than BamaNZ's.
thanks for replies i just hot a pair of s9-hds from a seller who sold 89 woth 100 percent positive feedback for about 40 bucks(he he look at me trying to be all american) i hope its not fake
bought a pair of real non-HD's and I would figure if you're not using them for any activity they are GREAT!!! sound good, fairly comfortable, easy to use... but as soon as you sweat in them... say GOODBYE!!! It goes downhill here from there.
I have the s-9 also and man they suck . Now I'm really not sure if its cause of the bluetooth
But when I walk with these things it skipps like a cd player. What I have to do is place the phone in my back pack so it doesn't bounce. Then and only the will I get good flow of audio.
Then they sound great. Call quality isn't that great either. I get a lot of static.

awww man but i figure ill cut out the skipping by putting my phone in my inside pocket which is closer to the headset
I have had the S9's for a while and I used them on the SE p990i, MDA, Laptop, and the G1. I must say as far as sound quality goes the s9's are really good, and thats about it. It works best with my laptop, if you plan on moving around (walking, running) etc then not recommended. On all the mobile devices it breaks up a lot especially when there are other cellular devices around you. I'm looking to replace mine with something that has the sound quality of the s9 or better and one that doesn't break up as much.
i received my s9-hds today and they sound awesome the only problems are they are uncomfortable at first and im not sure if i look like an idiot with them
The HDs blow the regular s9s out of the water. I bought a pair and they sounded much better. They are uncomfortable at first, but you get used to them.

youre right, i took them to the gym today and after a while i forgot they were there
Thanks! I glad y'all brought this subject up. I was about to replace my HT820 Moto headphones with the s9. I think I need some with a better range. Kinda scares me if you can't even get good reception with the cell in your pocket, lol. I guess I go with the Jabra then. My old moto 820 had great range and sound quality but are like 4 years old and are falling apart.
i find mine work fine if i pair them outdoors but if i was in your situation i wouldnt risk it either
I had mine for two years now ,, best bt/headphones ever ,, what I did with mine was, I took the cushions off of a cheap pair of headphones I had and placed them over the small buds of the s9 , now my s9 sounds like a bose system ...

thanks thats a great idea im going to try it with the ones that came with my g1
I picked up a set from newegg a year or two ago and like them alot
i work outside all day so sweat did kill the mic
but as use for a headset it works fine
I also had issues that seemed like the phone was a bit far away, but i think thats because of the sidekick i was using
I now use a Zune 120 and earbuds and use the S9s for my PC, I should try them on the G1 soon
the jabra BT303 looks nice, if i would have known about it before the S9 i would have went that way so i can use my own earbuds
however if you dont plan on sweating and like the big cushy style i just saw the motorola S805 on newegg for $25
you cant beat that, in fact for the price i may pick up a set
for the PC

I have the Motorola HT820 (I think thats the one). It was their original bluetooth headset. A little big and maybe even a bit ugly but the sound quality is great, although a bit low for my taste, but no skips and great for exercise since they go over and around the ears. They tend to bother after an hour of wearing them or so.
Plus you get over 10 hours of use per charge!
only problem I have is that you can't control the music (I.E. pause, play, next/previous track) with the hero rom or most of the developed roms, or atleast I haven't gotten it to work. Only with the stock rom will the functions work. Still, volume up and down works...

[Q] Seriously Considering going back to the Incredible

Hey people,
Maybe I need some one to talk me out of this, but some of these cons are out weighing the pros.
I love the screen size and front facing camera, I'm still in a 3g area so everything else is almost the same as the Inc, But here are my issues..
1) The Mic doesnt work when I place a call with the car stereo plugged into the Head phone jack, when I did get a Mic extention the quality of the call was really bad, My friend could hardly hear me. (This problem is the potential Deal breaker)
2) the ringer is really quiet, I missed a few calls where with the inc that woldn't have been a problem.
3) the Screen Cast only displays my creen I cannot interact with it using the mouse (I did Root the Phone using the ADB method)
4) I lost my hacked Hulu App (Great on long car trips)
5) I like the kick stand but why does it cover the speakers? (Refer to Item 2)
6) there isn't any noticible difference in speed or battery life.
I hope I'm not bumming anyone out, cos the the android is amazing for all intents and purposes, I just feeling a bit like I blew $250 for a really minor upgrade to the inc with a few extra drawbacks.
Thoughts?
No offense, but these posts are annoying, it's your decision, its your phone. If you don't feel its worth it, go back. You should have done your research, we all knew it would be like a giant incredible, just little faster and bigger, and that's exactly what it is. Now that i play with my wife's incredible, it feels like a toy now next to the Thunderbold, it feels so much cheaper, and god does the screen look small now.

Edit: If you really aren't happy with it, put it on eBay/Craigslist/xda market for $450+ dollars. Profit made, no harm done.
Who would of thought people would be leaving the Incredible HD to go back to the normal one?
If you really feel that way just return it. You shouldn't feel compelled to keep it or feel bad. Later if you feel differently buy it again. I too felt bad about leaving tmobile but this network is much better.

You have 14 days, stop complaining about how you don't like a phone, on a message board for said phone, and take it back then...
I apologise if I came off as whining about the TB, I didn't mean to annoy anyone..
Like I said the Android is fantastic and I honestly do love the phone, I suppose I'm looking for some reasurance that these issues that have been talked about for the most part are going to be addressed/Fixed..
I paid 175 and I love it verizon even waved my 35 dollar activation fee.
I played with every phone I could get my hands on and I like this one best.
The couple other phones I did actually buy and went into contract with were promptly returned without regret.
I'm still on my nexus one and can't find anything I feel is better than it. I've been very close to buying the inspire multiple times now. Your incredible is basically a nexus one.
Might look into a hearing aid? My ringer is loud as hell.
Mic should be patched this month. Ringer is loud as bell for me. Your volume up? I thought I read hulu app is working. No idea about screencast. Bottom line: these are all software issue, which get fixed.

If you're looking for someone to talk you out of it, I doubt you'll find anyone that will. It's your phone, if you like it, keep it, if you don't, send it back. Very cut and dry.

Speaker Quality

Just got my One X+ today on AT&T. Does anyone notice how bad music sounds from the speaker when the phone is face up on a desk or flat surface?
Flipping it over produces a much cleaner sound, but it is unrealistic to have the phone screen down while playing music (screen can get easily scratched). What's the deal here - design flaw?
Also, music and videos from the default player play silently even with the volume up. Anyone else have this issue? I had to use another media player to get sound output - default htc sense music app did NOT output any volume on my mp3s!

The answer is incredibly simply, when it is face up the speaker is blocked/covered by the surface and moreover the sound reverberates off of that surface. What do you want speakers on the front?

Don't be silly, I know that. I am saying that many phones account for this in the design, and project the sound accordingly. This thing sounds like a tin can when face down. Do they expect us to lay the phone screen-down to play music?

I'd venture a guess that they don't assume people are going to play music through the tiny ass speaker on the back of a phone in general. I mean it's got BEATS!
This is one area that Apple got it right...stick the speakers on the side or bottom of the phone so they aren't covered when the phone is on a table/couch/lap whatever. It just makes sense. Even if they used the earpiece cut out and stuck two speakers in there (one for calls and one for tones) that would work. Anything but flat on the back.
Moral of the story...don't listen to music on the crappy built in speaker. It's going to sound bad regardless of how the phone is held/set down.

To be fair, Nokia was placing the speakers on the side of the phone, in their N-Series smartphones, long before there was an iPhone. (I know you didn't mean it this way, but I get a little tired of Apple getting credit for so many things that they did not invent.)
Anyway, it's true that a lot of phones position the speaker on the back so that the curvature of the phone creates a small megaphone effect. My Nexus One is actually louder and clearer with the back (and therefore speaker) facing down. At least this works on hard surfaces.
I don't like to listen to music this way. But for podcasts and news I do it all the time. I'm planning to get a One X+, so I hope I can do the same. I suppose I don't really need to see the screen when I'm listening to something like that. But the scratching issue, with the phone sitting on the screen, seems real. (Despite claims to the contrary, Gorilla Glass 2 does scratch.)

I just see nit picking here. If listening to music or whatever u listen to and u CHOOSE to use the rear speaker, invest $10 in a screen protector and another $15 on a slim case that allows u to place the phone screen down and it will sit on the case, not the screen. Now if ur too OCD for a case then the screen protector will still he just fine. Again, why people aren't using Bluetooth headsets or even a Bluetooth device in one ear to listen to whatever they're listening too is beyond me. To be honest I think this device has a great rear speaker at high volumes and the whole idea behind a speaker is for SPEAKERPHONE, which it serves very well and crisp.

Gee, thanks for the gratuitous critique of how I like to use my phone. What happened to if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all? I really don't need to be told, unsolicited, how to use my phone or what sort of case to get, if any. People have different prefences. And no one wants to be preached to by someone else about how their way is better.
Anyway, I find the built in speaker on phones (like my Nexus One) useful for some purposes other than speakerphone. I'm thinking about getting a One X+, so why shouldn't I be concerned about how well it's speaker phone works, comparatively? I don't want to take step backwards. It's a reasonable discussion to have, to learn more about the One X+.
Nah nothing wrong with the speaker sound, it doesn't sound tinny in any way and in fact all my previous smart phones in my Sig haven't sounded tinny either.
My Nokia brick before my n95 had what I would call a "tinny" speaker some 8/9 or so yrs ago.
The hox+ has a rear amp so try higher quality bitrate music, a 128kb to 256kb mp3 doesn't cut it any more for eg.
Also a gnex would be a step back in all categories as well as software imho to be sure, no need to squabble just do the side by side test before u buy.

a bluetooth handset for z ultra because yo dawg, the htc did it.

It's called TK2 bluetooth handset. it costs $20 on ebay ATM.
I've just bought one fron ebay. The sound quality is ok, battery life(from what te page says) is pretty good, also it rings when a call comein.
What's bad: The only ringtone it has is the famous iphone one...
I've not decided yet, if i ever saw a more ugly headset then that ... but its defniatly going for the first 3.
Beside that, why should i carry one that is as big as an iPod?
If the Smartphone is already a big one, the rest dont has to / should not be.

Currently i am using one of these "Bluetooth dialers". They are tiny and work ok - the audio quality is nothing to rave about, though.

Waiting for the sbh52. The only thing i am disappointed about the shb52 is lack of aptx support. Strange that NONE of the Sony Bluetooth headsets have it. Wonder why.

I know you can do that with the SBH52 but I'd quite like a lightweight option that you can just keep on a lanyard etc.

I use the Bluedio BD100 - http://dx.com/p/bluedio-bd100-1-0-oled-usb-bluetooth-v2-1-dialer-headset-white-3-5mm-jack-127233
A discussion around it on XDA itself - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709473
Interesting, it has one feature that the SBH52 does not - the ability to sync the phonebook. The BD100 copies over all the phonebook entries, and allows you to scroll through and dial out from the device itself. The SBH52, from what I have read, can only redial recent calls (which even the BD100 lets you). I am surprised why Sony left out such a useful feature.
Apart from that, the BD100 has vibration and a single high-pitched ringtone (which will scare you the first time you hear it!). You cannot change it, but luckily you can turn it off. Though there is a model from Satechi that, apparently, comes with 8 ringtones.
Call quality is ok, though a bit muffled. Music quality is mediocre, especially if you are used to aptx headsets like the HS3000 from Samsung or the HTC BH S600.
I have been using it for over six months (previously with my Note 2) and have not encountered the issues others have in the XDA thread. Been stable and reliable for me.
The best part is the size and weight. Worth the price i paid.

Sure it have interesting features, but going size, weight, features and price wise you can go as well for a full phone, like a Nokia 105 with longer talking time and standby time as well as better audio quality with Nokia quality and the all for about $20.

I'm surprised at that as well. I hope they release an app that rectifies that and at least lets you access the entire phonebook.
could someone please explain to me why anyone would want a device like this?
so many nice, small, BT headsets, with great sound, and many even ring when you get a call, so why would you want something this big, ugly, with horrible sound, when a nice BT headset is so much better in every way?
thanks!

I don't think the sony sbh52 is in any way ugly. It's just like a normal Bluetooth set as it allows you to plug in headphones but it also lets you take calls without the headphone connected.
I agree some of the other units which are basically like a small phone are not by cup of tea. At that point I just as well carry a normal small phone plus a tablet lol
I agree the sony unit isnt really ugly, but a couple of the other ones I saw really were..
it just seems weird to carry "2 phones" around with you at the same time...or am I missing something?

Well I can't speak for anyone else but yes by getting the Z Ultra Im trying to combine the phone/tablet experience and only have to carry one device.
Having said that I won't mind carrying the SBH52. But the point is if I forget it I can still make calls without it. :good:
I thought that is what my mindset would be when I bought the GN2; I ended up getting a Note 8.0 a couple of months ago, which is the perfect tablet size, IMO..Can you put the sony in your pocket when you wear "normal" pants, not skinny jeans, or, will in not fit in any pants pocket? It looks narrow and long, like it would fit in loose pants pockets..

I think it will fit in normal pants pockets but definitely not skinny jeans. What I did was buy a cheep TPU case off ebay for $3 so I could check out the dimentions and try it in my pockets first
Coming from a note 2 I know what you mean. I don't have much use for a full blown tablet though and in the past I've handed down both an ipad and nexus 7 to family members. I just want a large screen mobile thats not a pain to browse or consume media on while on the move. For anything other than that, serious browsing or for real productivity I'll switch to the laptop.
Even then I find Im far more productive when trying to do real work when using a desktop PC. The laptop is a macbook pro so its no slouch, but simply being sat at a desk using a large screen monitor, full sized keyboard etc.
Anyway I got off track there a little lol.. I think the note 8 is a good size, pity they made the side bezels so big though. The phone functionality on the cellular model is sometime id like to see enabled on all tablets.
my wife has the note 10.1 tablet, which I find too big; we both had original Motorola Xooms, which were also 10 inch, and I thought was too bulky..The 8 inch tablet really hits the sweet spot, IMO..
problem is, if I get a 6.4 inch phone, and have an 8 inch tablet, are these devices too similiar too each other?
my tablet is a wifi model, but I make VOIP calls with it, and can text with it too; wifi is everywhere, and where it isnt, I just tether to my GN2, so connectivity is not an issue..
My wife is already warning me I am not getting the Sony, so, until someone is selling it here, and I can take her to a store and show her how cool it is, I have to control myself! She thought I was nuts getting a Note 1, then she wanted one; when I got a note 2, she said I was nuts again, but now she has one too, so there is definately a pattern here I can take advantage of!

Theres a big difference in screen area between 6.5" and 8" I actually wish the Ultra bezels were smaller and they had stuffed a 7" screen in there.
!! Seriously it would fit in almost the same footprint, just a couple of mm wider. The note 2 will be the superior device if you use the spen a lot for note taking etc. The Ultra note taking is nowhere near as good as on the Note 2 or Note 8, but its ok for infrequent use.
Me and the mrs both had note 2's. She smashed the screen on hers so I bought her a mega 6.3. Forward thinking so she could't moan about me buying the Ultra lol

LG Tone Infinim

Has there been any word on the release of this? I haven't seen anything at all for about a month. Thanks
Would like to know too! Definitely want to get this soon!

These are available in AT&T stores now, though its cheaper to get them on eBay right now due to not having to pay tax. They seem to be sold out online, but they are in stock in every AT&T store in my area for 149.00. They are awesome, by the way. Great sound and great design. I had the 730's and these are so much better in every way, especially when running/working out.
Also have these and the prior top model. The new ones sound worse due to lack of bass and overall fullness. Also no noise cancellation. Bummer. They've also bigger and harder to fit under my work dress shirt. Only thing good is the retractable cables.
Picked mine up today and not impressed. I like the design, it lays flatter than my 730's did and doesn't twist around my neck when I do any leaning over. The retractable wires are great I'm impressed with the overall design and functionality. What I'm not impressed with is the sound quality. My 730's are way louder and have more bass. Even with the built in equalizer on the infinum they are not better sounding. Trying to decide if I'm going to return them. At $160 after tax I'm not too too pleased.
Have you tried using another player to boost the bass?
I installed viper it helped a little with the bass. I haven't used power amp in a while might have to bring it back..
Edit: Power amp sounds even worse. I don't know kinda starting to like the headset.
Well after a day of owning these I'm becoming more pleased. While the bass might not be as heavy as I like they're overall pretty clear. Anyone else that owns these know if the call and/or music button are supposed to blink at all? I was under the impression they were supposed to blink red..
I love mine. As soon as I found the equalizer setting and I changed the setting it sounds amazing. I just love them and the sound and I am an audiophile. The ONLY thing is now it turns on and off on its own. It is really annoying. Im going to go get it switched outn other than that I ABSOLUTELY love them for movies, games and music. Some people are leaving ignorant bad reviews o n other sites of it. Have they looked at the manual? Thats what I did. Also the red ring buttons around the buttons not lighting up was a little bit of a disappointment. But I'll live lol

Like I said they've grown on me quite a bit. I contacted Lg about the red lights. They said they're supposed to light up and suggested I return them for exchange. I did so and the new ones don't blink either. Neither did the service reps at the store. So I don't know if Lg has no clue or we all got defective devices, I think the first option is the case.
I have been using the hsb-700 model for at least 4 years and the are still working fine. But this looks like it would be a nice upgrade. The retractable wires would solve my one dislike on the 700, and better sound is always good! I'll have to put them on my wishlist.
I loved the sound on mine, but the retraction mechanism stuck a couple of times in the first few days. I don't think the red actually lights up like the picture on the box. One of the "features" is that the light is not as annoying as it used to be and it was put on the inside of the headset.
I returned them and picked up the 750's. The sound (bass included) is comparable, but not as clear at higher volumes. Also, the earbuds on the 900's were perfect. They are the same size (IMO) as the 700's and fit perfect in my ear. The 750 earbuds are way too big.
So, now I am debating going back to the 900's because they have the best combination of sound and comfort. I'll just have to get a 3 year, $15 squaretrade warranty to cover the thin wires and mechanism.
About to be on my fourth pair of these. The second pairs right earbud quit working after two weeks. Now the third pairs play/pause and track slider arent working properly. Just got off the phone with Lg and theyre going to replace them again. I just hope this isnt an ongoing issue with these. Hope this pair will be my last.
Sounds like i should just shut up and be happy that my 750's work perfectly...
wow that thing looks ugly as hell...
