Hi,
I was searching the whole Forum for a working Link to Download a Stock Image for the Viewsonic Viewpad 7 EU(German).
It would be great if someone knows where to Download or can provide it on a Hoster.
Big Thanks

This is the EU firmware, verison 3_420 that I originally downloaded from Viewsonic's Euro website as linked in the post - it is in *.nb0 format.
I re-checked VS's website in different parts of the world and they all appeared to be offline or not accessible, with no reasons given.
Placed this in dropbox - kindly let me know if you can access & retrieve it, or if you run into problems. Some of my cloud storage are gone as I am uploaded it to the multiload server and it's ...
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/64025118/ViewPad 7 Firmware v3_42_uk.zip
Below is the SUTL3 installation utility that you will need to flash it, please read & follow instructions - and, as always - backup first.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/64025118/SUTL3_v1.7.9.zip
Please proceed at your own risk as I am and will not be responsible if you (soft) brick your device - the files as uploaded are unaltered as it was originally saved or downloaded. Good Luck !
Thanks for your help...
Now i have SUTL and the Rom...
When trying to flash, it boots in the recovery but then aborts...
and says that the file couldn´t be sent to the device...
do i need an Micro-SD-Card(tried without) inserted to flash the Stock rom?
or do i need the stock Recovery(i have CWM installed)?
Greets and Thanks

Whether it's flashing the stock/factory rom or cwm, you need to have the mSD card in the slot, especially custom ROM or else it will not install. Try it again.
The stock recovery will format & if I remember correctly (it will unroot the device) - need to root it again & reinstall CWM, so please make sure you have the necessary files since lots of us "had" cloud files disappeared due to the megaupload & related issues recently.
Check & uninstall, then reinstall any usb drivers - I believe it will load from the device onto the computer. While still in CWM recovery, connect via USB cable and if you can read the mSD card, then it should be ready to re-flash the factory ROM.

OK... I got it...
the problem was the recovery.
After flashing an older CWM-Recovery SUTL did the job.... and flashed the Image.
Thanks for your help....

I am coming from MIUI/Siyah and I was in CWM Recovery and accidentally formatted my internal SD Card. I do not have an external SD Card.
This means that I have nothing on my phone to flash and currently have an empty phone. When i try to flash a rom it says "no files found"
I'm in Download mode, but it's not being recognized by my computer or ODIN.
As i recall from way back when I originally rooted there were drivers that needed to be installed on my computer (a different computer) to have ODIN recognize it.
Honestly i'd just prefer to obtain direct access to the internal SD card and transfer a CWM flashable ROM.
is this possible?
basically I'm stuck in recovery / download
do i need keis on this computer for ODIN to work?
anyone can provide me with a link in what i should flash using ODIN?
You need Kies on your PC. It installs drivers that make the connection.
See Q7 in the FAQ:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288112
As to "what should I flash?" - this really depends on what you want. You can start with stock -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18859438&postcount=199
Then, this guide can help flashing without getting the yellow triangle (if you haven't, yet):

Download Kies 2.1: www.samsung.com/us/kies/
THEN USE THIS:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286432
Download the Kernel and UCKH7 package (either rooted or non-rooted, whichever you want)
Next use this thread for flashing with Odinv3 (download links are on the page)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1313659
ah thanks. i was digging around for that.
of the above two rooted packages, is there a advantageous quality to either one? If i'm going to start flashing ROMS immediately after fixing this either one is equal to the other, right?
As long as the kernel is stock, it shouldn't matter.
Again, I really recommend this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1311081
In particular, I found Mobile ODIN to be very useful.
i've already got the wicked triangle.

seems to be working.

Dear users,
I sat my Galaxy S3 GT-l9300 up with Team Win Recovery Project using Odin.Later on, I tried to root my new default system that I installed after a complete and successful re-install to the latest Android, using Odin. (Of course I donated!)
The root seemed to fail however - and when I loaded it up I would simply get a black screen. I forgot to make a proper backup before going ahead with the operation and so there I was, with no backups, an OS that wouldnt boot properly, where the only thing sort of useful I could and still can do -- is boot into TWRC.
So whats the problem?
The only thing that will help me at this point is if I can get ahold of a TWRC default fresh OS install backup that I can restore from my external SD card using TWRC. I need someone with an identical phone to make that backup for me and send me.
I will happily donate for the trouble.
So here I am asking..
Would anyone here please help me with this and send me a TWRC default backup that I can restore? What they would need to do is simply make a backup of their phone using Team Win Recovery Project (TWRC) -- zip or rar the backup and send it to me somehow.
I understand that some people have a lot of personal information on their phone and not want to send a backup of their phone, so I am hoping that someone out there maybe has a backup of a brand new unconfigured system that I could use.
It seems to be the only way for me to be able to get back into my phone and start doing everything over again with Odin (this time making religious use of the backup solutions before doing anything at all.)
Thanks.
Correct me if I am wrong but TWRC is a simple recovery correct? If so why do you not simple download a stock rom and flash it?

Because I cant boot up the system, thereby Odin cant find the device.
I try and go into Download mode and it just says "Odin" mode, and Odin cant find the device.
I try sideload mode in TWRC and Odin can find the device but it wont let me install anything, or even copy anything (so I need to purchase an ext card reader to copy over what I need.)
From what I can gather, the only thing left to do is count on mere luck and hope that someone out there has (or can make) a TWRC backup, export it and share it with me so that I can put it on my phone, restore the phone using the backup file and hopefully get a proper boot up and running once more.
From there I could get a proper USB connection, Odin would find the phone device and I would be able to start over again - by flashing the device, and try to root the phone once more. This time; with proper backups ready at all times.

As I understand, you can get into your recovery (TWRC), hence you could try to flash a stock rom via flash zip option (flashable stock roms can be found in the General section). This way you do not need Odin at all.

I tried flashing a rom that I downloaded through Odin -- which failed.
Sounds good, though.
Do you have a direct link to the rom you would recommend I use? :highfive:

Today morning i was trying to install Chainfire 3d. I clicked the second option it rebooted but now the phone gets struck on the boot logo.
The phone doesnt boot. Waited for and hour tried 20+ times.
I have already installed CWM recovery. But when i click restore it says m5 sum error( Yes CWM is still working).
I even tried factory reset but it didnt work. What do i do?
Explain in detail help me plz.
OK: I got few replies and the most common one was to flash a new ROM.At present i want to stick to the stock 4.2.1.
I'm currently on 4.1.2.
Everybody gives the method to flash via SP Flash tools, which i don't want to as it doesn't detect my device properly and i don't want to waste my time in it.
As i mentioned earlier i have already rooted and have installed CWM recovery. Can i CWM to install the official ROM.When does TP upgrade pop-up. How should i install it using CWM + precautions and detailed explanations.
Should be noob friendly.
Go and check development section, you need to find a ROM which can be flashed VIA recovery.
There are threads which show how to install drivers, and IF you try to flash VIA SP Tools make sure you remove battery, sim card, sd card, initialise the download process and then connect the phone.

Hi Guys,
Can someone help me, please? I've rooted my P780, and installed ClockworkMod Recovery. I can't seem to get any ROMs to install, though. I've tried four now, two from the forums here and two from needrom.com, but none of them install.
I put the ROM zip file on the SD card, reboot to CWM, wipe etc then try and install but for every ROM I get the following:
Warning: No file_contentssymlink: some symlinks failed
E: Error in <ROM zip file> (Status 7)
Is there something more I have to do? Or should I try and flash by other means?
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Stympy. I was looking at this myself, having found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/development/rom-lenovo-p780-pre-rooted-official-t2553725
And your helpful thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/help/rooting-tutorial-kitkat-t2835605
I'll give it a go. It might be tricky because I have 64 bit and couldn't initially get the drivers working. I'll keep trying though!

Iff your phone is rooted do this:
Download TWRP 2.7.1.1 from my post and install Mobileuncle Tools from Magazin Play!
Extract TWRP from archive rename it recovery.img and copy on your internal memory, in the root of your internal memory not in one folder.
Open Mobileuncle Tool and go to Recovery Update>and the first option select and flash. Then restart directly to recovery. Not optional!
Try this!
Waiting for feedback.
Sadly, I'm still having problems.
I booted up the stock ROM (had to try and get it back off Chinese! )
I reinstalled Framaroot, rooted and then used MobileUncle tools to install the recovery.img from your TWRP zip as suggested. This has worked, I now have TWRP as recovery, which is good, thanks.
However, when I try and install a ROM from ZIP - just tried an AOSP and an SLXROM - I get the same thing:
Code:
symlink: some symlinks failed
Error executing undater binary in zip '/external_sd/SLXROM)v26-Lenovo_P780-ROW.zip'
Any more help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok. It seems to me that you have problems with the archives, maybe i am wrong. Try to see if the archives are not corrupted by something.
Try first to replace your SD Card just for test, and try to reflash SLX or AOSP again.
One more thing: be careful when you download the archives not to be corrupted.
Sent from my Lenovo P780
It's still not working for me
I've taken the SD card from my older phone, which has been working fine for years. Formatted it and reloaded ROMS, but I still get exactly the same thing. I've tried five different ROMS, which were downloaded across two different computers at home and one in work on a different connection, so I can't imagine that all of these files would suffer the same corruption.
I've been having a search around and did find one person suggesting that it might be to do with storage space. I think I've seen in this forum (but I can't find it now) that you can resize the system storage partitions. Do I need to try this?
Thanks for your continuing help!
Partitioning didn't seem to help.
I followed the instructions in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/general/p780-repartition-storage-t2668744
But I still get the same thing when I try to install a ROM from SD Card. :crying:
I feel sure there's something really simple that I've missed, but even re-reading all the threads I can't figure it out.

I used the 'recommended' option in the ReParted/Aroma tool.
Now in the stock OS I can see:
Internal Storage:
2.56GB total
1.33GB available
USB Storage:
1.03GB total
1.02GB available
And then my 16GB SD card as well.
Well, I think I broke it. :crying:
Out of desperation and thinking I might have got the wrong idea, I tried a china, not ROW rom. Strangely, TWRP seemed to be able to install this. However, now the phone won't boot. So I have no OS at all!
I can still load TWRP recovery, but it still won't install roms. Also it keeps telling me it can't mount /data for some reason.
Can anyone help, please? What have I done?
This sounds like me ... the first 24 hours i had my p780. After that i discovered i have a newer version (also Chinese) of the phone then most of the forum members. I can only flash through the flashtools (i don't even bother to install a custom recovery anymore). You need an other preloader.
So just try it ( you got nothing to loose anyway )
Download the flashtool if you didn't do that already .
Make sure you have the correct drivers installed
Download a rom you can flash with the flashtool (i'm using a modified version of VibeUi2.0 no Chinese apps, and extra languages )
replace the preloader in the rom with the one attached.
shutoff your phone.
load the rom in the flashtool (make sure you've selected everything you need like DL with checksum etc, if you never did it please read threads and topics)
press download and connect your phone ...
for me all this above resurrected my phone again

Thanks for your reply Re-Mi! It gives me hope to know you got yours sorted. I'll definitely try your suggestion.
I'm just wondering, how do I use the flash tool? All the tutorials I've seen have needed the phone to be on and have usb debugging on. But I don't have a working OS for this, only TWRP recovery works now. Is that what the preloader is for? I shall research!
Again, thanks.

Step by step guide :
If your phone is not already soft bricked, back up whatever you want. External SD card is fine. If your phone is soft-brick then say goodbye to your data and skip this step.
Uncompress all the files you downloaded from this thread into a directory where you can remember. Including the ROMs.
Shutdown your phone if its not in a bootloop. If it is skip this step.
Open "Device Manager" on your Windows PC.
Plug in your phone through the micro USB cable. A device will show up for a few seconds in "Device Manager". After that, it will disappear again!
Recognize the device tree where it appeared, and wait for it as you unplug and plug in your phone again (if bootloop, its automatic!)
Catch it with a right click as it appears! Then choose "Update Drivers" and pick the directory where you uncompressed the drivers you downloaded above. Its ok if after catching it the device disconnects. You only need to install the drivers now.
Assuming the drivers are correctly installed, run the Smart Phone Flash Tool.
Click on scatter-loading and choose the scatter file "MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt" of the ROM you want to flash.
Make sure the checkbox "DL DA All With Check Sum" is CHECKED
Click on "Firmware->Upgrade" button.
Plug in your powered down phone via the USB cable again. See it flash.
When a big green circle appears on the screen, your are done!

Woohoo! Got my phone working!
Thanks for your help guys. In the end I borrowed a laptop that had windows 7 on, which I was able to get the flash tool working on. So I've now flashed with the kitkat version of the stock ROM
I still don't know why TWRP wouldn't flash any one of the eight different ROMs I tried!
I'm going to continue messing about with the phone. I'd like to get Life ROM working, but I need TWRP back first.
Again, thanks all.

@Alrubaie, both method would work. You can install a firmware for your device using Odin. This would bring it back to life. And also, you can download a custom ROM (from development section here) and install that using TWRP, this will also do the trick. Though, you must be able to transfer files from PC to phone from recovery mode -- do enable MTP in Mount menu of TWRP for this.
